Unexploded shells are dangerous, which is why the army is exploding
dozens of grenades that failed to detonate.
But bringing the duds and tonnes of residual ammunition from these peaks
down to the valley means one thing in particular:
using helicopters and climbers, etc.

only up to a point.
For clean-up purposes it would certainly be easier,
but that's exactly why we're in the mountains
so that we don't disturb anyone in these target areas.
After training, we can clean up together with the climbers.
This doesn't impact on tourism or anyone else who moves around here,
such as hunters.
In recent years, the army has gathered up less waste
ammunition throughout Switzerland.
It is shooting less and in recent years has only done four clean-ups.
