Costa and Courtois among six stars that link Chelsea and Atletico Madrid

THERE will be many familiar faces on show at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday night.

Atletico Madrid host Chelsea in one of the biggest showdowns in the Champions League this season.

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid players clash during semi-final first leg in 2014.

Atletico Madrid beat Chelsea 3-1 when they met for second leg.

The two teams have not met since the 2014 semi-finals.

However, one Atletico player from that night has since joined Chelsea, with one former Blue now in Red and White — and another having left the Spanish capital for London only to return again.

Famously, there is a player in limbo who has left one, but not officially returned to the other yet.

And one Chelsea star actually started his career in the Atletico academy.

Complicated?.

Well break it down for you.

Thibaut Courtois.

Thibaut Courtois was on loan at Atletico Madrid from Chelsea.

Thibaut Courtois has established himself as one of best goalkeepers around.

Chelsea could not stop Courtois playing against them for Atletico in 2014 despite him being on loan there.

Courtois returned to Stamford Bridge that summer — and has since gone onto establish himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Filipe Luis.

Filipe Luis clearly impressed Jose Mourinho during 2014 semi-final.

Filipe Luis won the Premier League during his one and only season with Chelsea.

Filipe Luis is back with Atletico Madrid and still and important player.

Brazilian clearly impressed Jose Mourinho during that 2014 semi-final, as the Special One brought him to Stamford Bridge that summer.

However, Luis struggled to adapt in England and returned after just one season.

Fernando Torres.

Fernando Torres started his career at Atletico Madrid before joining Liverpool.

Fernando Torres joined Chelsea for £50million but struggled to produce his best form.

Fernando Torres is enjoying football again after Atletico Madrid return.

He started his career with Atletico, before joining Liverpool and eventually Chelsea for £50million.

Torres started both legs of the 2014 semi-finals — for the Blues — but left for AC Milan that summer, before eventually returning to his boyhood club.

Tiago.

Tiago spent one season at Chelsea and won the Premier League under Jose Mourinho.

Tiago waves goodbye to Atletico Madrid fans after retiring at end of last season.

Joined Chelsea in Mourinhos first season, and famous scoring a stunning strike at Old Trafford.

However, he left after a season and joined Atletico in 2010.

Is not assistant to Diego Simeone.

Diego Costa.

Diego Costa was one of the main performers for Atletico Madrid in 2013-14.

Diego Costa won two league titles in three season while at Chelsea.

Diego Costa was in the crowd for Atletico Madrids 2-0 victory over Sevilla at the weekend.

He was Atleticos main star in 2014, but also moved to Chelsea that summer, and won two league titles.

However, Antonio Conte told Costa he could leave at the end of the last campaign.

He is on the brink of completing a return — and could be presented in front of Blues fans on Wednesday night.

Alvaro Morata.

Alvaro Morata is now banging in the goals since joining Chelsea.

Atletico received a cut of  the Spanish-record £65m Chelsea paid Real Madrid for the striker.

But in fact Morata actually started his career in the Rojiblancos youth sides.

WWII Veteran, 97, Takes a Knee In Support of NFL Protest

A 97-year-old World War II veteran is being widely praised on social media after a photo of him taking a knee in support of protesting NFL players was shared and liked by hundreds of thousands of people.

Brennan Gilmore tweeted the photo of his grandfather, John Middlemas, kneeling on the dirt Sunday morning while wearing his World War II veteran's cap.

Gilmore said Middlemas, who is now a farmer in Missouri, "wanted to join" with the athletes who have been kneeling during the national anthem in an apparent act of protest after President Donald Trump criticized players who kneel.

"My grandpa is a 97 year-old WWII vet & Missouri farmer who wanted to join w/ those who #TakeaKnee: 'those kids have every right to protest," Gilmore captioned the photograph.

The proud grandson also shared some photographs of his grandfather in the war and on his farm.

"Grandpa has been an ally to the civil rights movement for many years.

He's an amazing man always on the side of justice.".

Middlemas told the Springfield News-Leader he hoped the photo would convey a message of peace and acceptance throughout the "whole world.

"I wanted to communicate what I always told to my grandkids and everybody else," he said.

"When they'd go to bed at night, we'd tell the kids we wanted to be like Jesus.".

"I'm trying to say that you have to love everybody," Middlemas added.

"We don't kill people.

We want to make people live.".

More than 200 NFL players kneeled or sat down while the national anthem played during Sunday's football games, according to the Associated Press.

Two days before the games, Trump lashed out at NFL owners and players over the kneeling movement.

"Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out, he's fired.

He's fired!" Trump said at a Friday rally in Alabama.

Trump had also urged football fans to stop attending or watching NFL games until all players stand for the national anthem.

Former San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick started the silent act of defiance last year in protest of fatal police shootings of black men.

Middlemas, who has previously marched for civil rights, told the News-Leader he thought Trump was "garbage-mouthed.

'The Real' Host Adrienne Bailon Gets Choked Up Defending NFL Players Taking a Knee

Theyre not disrespecting the flag, theyre actually saying what this flag stands for, the TV personality says on Monday.

Adrienne Bailon passionately defended NFL players who took a knee during the national anthem over the weekend.

On Mondays episode of The Real, the co-host explained that she reached out to her father -- a Marine and Vietnam War veteran -- before hitting the stage and sharing her opinion supporting athletes like Colin Kaepernick.

I asked my dad and said, I dont want to get on there and talk about this today and say something thats going to disrespect you or the military, she explained.

Thats never something I wanna do.

Theres people out there fighting, we all have the choice, dont forget saluting, you have the right to fight for your country and get out there and serve.

Kneeling is the smallest thing in my opinion..

He said, You know what baby, I fought for people to have freedom of speech, she continued, tearing up as she spoke.

I love my dad because he said freedom of speech in Spanish, in Chinese, in Arabic and thats what these people are fighting for.

Theyre not disrespecting the flag, theyre actually saying what this flag stands for.

It stands for you to have the right to say what you feel, to have the freedom of speech and more importantly, that theyre doing it in a peaceful way..

Bailons comments come after Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended Donald Trump saying NFL owners should fire any son of a bitch who wouldnt stand for the anthem.

Its always appropriate for the president of this country to promote our flag, Sanders said.

This isnt about the president being against anyone.

This is about the president and Americans being for something..

Benicio del Toro Urges Fans to Help Puerto Rico: 'Nothing You've Read or Watched on TV Compares'

On Sunday, Puerto Rican actor Benicio del Torro shared a video message with PEOPLE urging his fans to donate to hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.

"I want to read a little excerpt of a message from a family member, one of the 3.

5 American citizens that experienced the devastation of Hurricane Maria from the island of Puerto Rico," he said.

"Saturday Sept. 23, 2017," he continued.

"Three days after Hurricane Maria crossed through the island.

Finally the sun came out today and for the first time we can clearly see the aftermath.

Nothing you've read or watched on tv compares to the destruction we see with our very eyes.

End of quote.".

"Hurricane Maria has left a path of destruction and loss of life, the full extent of which has yet to be determined.

Please help me help our people and donate to Unidos for Puerto Rico," he added.

On Sept.

20, Hurricane Maria made landfall on the 100-mile-long island of Puerto Rico, causing such tremendous damage with its 155-mph winds that it knocked out power for all 3.5 million residents.

Maria killed at least nine people on Dominica before it moved to Puerto Rico, where it toppled trees, tore roofs from buildings, and damaged reservoirs and rivers that—along with heavy rain—have caused severe flooding.

This came just two weeks after ferocious Hurricane Irma destroyed much of the U.S.

Virgin Islands and killed three people in Puerto Rico.

'Will & Grace' Reviews Are In: Find Out If Critics Think NBC Revival Lives Up to the Hype|K CHANNEL - Duration: 7:40.

'Will & Grace' Reviews Are In: Find Out If Critics Think NBC Revival Lives Up to the Hype

I laughed my f-cking ass off, one critic writes.

Will & Grace is back and fans can rest assured: Its still funny AF.

NBC released three episodes online ahead of the season premiere on Thursday, and critics are loving what theyre seeing as Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes will reprise the sitcom roles that made them famous, 11 years after the season finale aired in 2006.

Two things you should definitely know, even if you don't read another paragraph of this review: 1.

The reboot, at least based on the two episodes I've seen so far, is 100-percent the W&G that I — and likely you — loved.

Stiletto-sharp with marshmallow insides.

I laughed my f—ing ass off.

Out loud, even!, TVLines Charlie Mason said.

The Hollywood Reporters Daniel Fienberg Review:.

Its in the second episode that acknowledging the passing of time begins in earnest and really benefits the show.

After an embarrassing experience at a club, Will and Jack begin dating much younger men and are forced to confront generational changes in the gay community — shifts that Will & Grace helped facilitate.

Its the rare moment in which Will & Grace feels like its engaging in a conversation with the gay audience and not necessarily trying to make straight viewers feels feel more comfortable.

Daily Beasts Kevin Fallon Review:.

So how political is it? Well, lets just say that halfway into the premiere, Grace and Karen are in Trumps Oval Office while Jack and Will are being hit on by a gay secret serviceman on the White House lawn.

TVLines Charlie Mason Review:.

As youd expect, the political commentary is on point, savage and funny as hell.

Whether a joke is aimed at President Trump or a generation of gays who dont know Stonewall from Stonehenge, W&G hits the target with impressive consistency.

And, at the end of the day, it reminds us that, beneath the barbs and bon mots, the show has a heart that's as strong as it is soft.

IndieWires Ben Travers Review:.

To say the first three episodes of the new season are equally clever would be a lie; they only get better from the track-laying opener, as the cast proves itself to be as energetic, opinionated, and hysterical as ever.

Up to their old tricks, Will and Grace finish each others sentences and help each other through crises.

Jack and Karen selfishly scheme for attention, fame, and sex.

The foursome lives their lives, with rapid-fire callbacks, zingers galore, and timely breaks for a few heart-to-hearts.

Will & Grace is nothing like other, lazy revivals.

Its here on its own terms and quickly proves theres nothing to fear from these very funny folks.

InStyles Jonathan Borge Review:.

When the series premiered in 1998, I had kissed enough boys to know I was certainly gay, however, I wasnt prepared to come out to anyone.

So when the show came on and either Jack or Will shrieked in excitement, Id lower the volume and hope that no one nearby would barge in my bedroom and ask, Why are you watching Will & Grace?.

I was ashamed of watching the show, and while I dipped my toes into several minutes of it each time it aired on NBC, I didnt consider myself a fan, and still have never watched more than four episodes collectively.

Will & Grace? Ive heard its hilarious.

But nah, its not for me, Id say.

Fast forward 19 years since the comedys series premiere, 11 since the series 2006 finale, and I wish I had a friend like Jack.

Im out. Im proud.

And though Im generally quiet and carry a soft demeanor, Id be the first to break into dance if Britneys Slave 4 U played.

Hypables Brittany Lovely Review:.

While everyone brings their A-game, Sean Hayes has a remarkable return in the first three episodes.

His physical comedy in episode 2 is award-worthy.

(Unfortunately, the comedy categories in award shows now default to drama.) Megan Mullally's Karen is as crass and hysterical as we left her.

And Will and Graces fierce arguments and sentimental makeups will still make your heart ache a little bit.
