Summer Favorites || 2017 [CC] - Duration: 7:41.

Hi, everyone! My name is Camille, and today I'll be sharing with you my favorite

things throughout the summer! My classes start next week, which means that my

summer break is over. Being in Mississippi, I'm still gonna

have summer weather until like Christmas, but summer break is coming to an end. If

you'd like to see how I made this super vibrant makeup that I'm wearing today

then make sure you stay tuned for my video that's being posted on Monday

because that will be a makeup tutorial for this! We'll start with books, and the

first book that I want to shout out is My Brother's Husband by Gengoroh Tegame.

I discussed this book in my booktubeathon wrap-up because that's

when I read it--for the booktubeathon--so if you missed that

video then make sure you go check that out! I just love how this book discusses

multiple topics, especially gay acceptance and single fatherhood. I

highly recommend this series. I haven't read the second volume. I think there are

only two volumes, but it's just so cute and so sweet and thought-provoking at

the same time! Next is Lord of the Rings, which I've been listening to on

audiobook! I finished the Hobbit in like two days, and I'm over 50% done with the

Fellowship of the Ring, which brings me into my next favorite which is

audiobooks! I have never tried audiobooks before, but I just decided to give it a

try, and I am absolutely loving it! The Lord of the Rings is a series that I

tried to read several years ago, but Tolkien's writing is very very dense and

I could not get through it. Again: this was several years ago. I was still in

high school, so I'm not sure if I would be able to handle it better now, but I've

just always been intimidated by it because of my experience with it before.

The one thing that I love second to books is tea, so of course we're going to

talk about my tea favorites! The first one I want to mention is Cardamom French

Toast, which is a black tea base by David's Tea. I got this while I was

traveling in Canada, which is where David's Tea is based, and oh it's so good!!

I love any tea with cardamom in it, but this is just delicious! The next tea I

want to shout out is Truffle Kerfuffle bye Cupan Tae. I also featured this in

the booktubeathon wrap-up, so I guess you just have lots of reasons to go check

out that video out if you missed it! I got this tea while I was traveling in

Ireland, and to be honest I've only had about two cups of this. One of those cups

was while I was sick, so I didn't get to taste it very well, so I'm not sure if I

actually liked the taste more than all the other teas

or if it's just the memories that I have associated with it of traveling with my

mom! Related to that is food, and I recently

discovered Chimes ginger chewy candies!! This one is specifically ginger and

mango. I discovered this while I was going

through Marshalls with my boyfriend. I don't remember what we were looking for

or if we were looking for anything, but I found these and we both like mango and

we both like ginger, and these are delicious! They're just the right amount

of chewy and just the right amount of sticky in my opinion for my personal

taste, and they're coated in powdered sugars so that it's easier to get out so that

it's not sticking to the wrapper as much, but even besides just being efficient, it

just also adds a delicious addition to the flavors! They also have other flavors

that are: original ginger, peanut butter, peppermint, mango--which is the one I have--

and orange! Again, I got this in Marshalls, so I'm not sure if you can find it

online, but I will leave a link to them down below if I can find them--and of

course links to everything else that I mention in this video--in the description

box! This water bottle! I have been searching for the perfect water bottle

for so long, and I finally found it! My favorite feature about this water bottle

is the top because--first of all, it has a cover which you *boop* to open it up, but

most water bottles that have a cover like that have a silicone straw, and I

hate those! They make me so paranoid because I just don't understand how you

can thoroughly clean inside there without going through a major pain to

get into this little silicone straw, but this is just a straight up hole. I don't

have to worry about it not getting clean! This is just washer

safe, and it locks by itself, but it also has an additional lock, which was very

useful for my mom and I when we were traveling in Ireland because we were

completely backpacking, so we had these literally hooked to our backpacks.

Having this extra lock ensured that the button didn't get bumped and open it and

make it spill everywhere! This cat burger ^.^ If you saw my Anything But Books Tag-- and

if you didn't, you should--then you may know that I like to play with squishies

to help me concentrate, and in that video I featured a little circular panda bear

squishy. While I was away from the apartment, my roommate's dog got into my

room and found the squishy and tore it up, and I was very sad. I mean, I was gonna

have to get a replacement anyway because his little face was flaking off,

and that was making me sad. But I told my boyfriend, and last time he visited me he

surprised me with this cat burger squishy!! And it's funny 'cause I love cats,

but I don't like meat! For skin care, I've really been enjoying that this Aveeno

Positively Radiant moisturizer with SPF [15]! Mississippi summers are very hot and

very sunny, and so I need this! This Breakout Buster stick by Rocky Mountain soap

company! The recommended uses on the labels are zits and bug bites, and I can

verify that this works very well on both of those things! Basically what it does

is, it just relieves the irritation that comes from inflammation from bug bites

and zits, such as itching or pain, and so when when you don't notice it, you don't

play with it, and then it gets to heal faster! When I've used this on bug bites

they're usually gone the next day, and when I use this on zits,

they'll usually go on between one to three days. These little silicone face

scrubbies! Up until now, I've always used a washcloth or my hands to wash my face

with cleanser, but this is magic! Oh my goodness!

This cleans my face so much better! You just put your face wash either on your

face or on the little scrubby, and then scrub it around just like you would with

a washcloth or your hands. I have combination skin, which means that I have

dry patches in some areas and oily patches in other areas, and this works

well with both of those. My face is so much smoother!! I don't feel like I need

an additional exfoliator nearly as often as I used to. I used to do exfoliants

every two to three days, but now I completely forget that exfoliators are

even a thing! And my final favorite of the summer is tote bags! I love this one!

I got it in Ireland at like a vintage shop, and it just says "if tea was heroin,

I'd be dead" and I didn't know what the background was at first 'cause when you

look at it up close, it just looks like black and gray noise,

but from far away, it's a tea bag! I have these heavy-duty ones for grocery

shopping. These have a structured bottom, which is fantastic, and these are made

out of recycled plastic, so they are a bit stronger than just the fabric ones!

They've got a bit more density to them, so they could hold more things, so I use

those bigger heavy-duty ones for grocery shopping and then I use smaller ones

like this wonderful tea one if I'm going shopping for like clothes. Because not

only am i saving the environment by not using bags, but this also helps me limit

how much I buy, because if I just go to the mall, then there's no limit to how

many bags I can drape over my arms, but if I just

take this--or if I know that I'm looking for multiple outfits or something then I

might take two--then I know that I'm limited to how much can fit into this

bag or this bag and another one. This is my other bag, by the way--I have four. I

have two of the heavy-duty ones because sometimes I need lots of groceries, and

then I have this one and the tea bag one! Alright everyone that's all I have for

today! Thank you all so so much for watching <3 I hope that you enjoyed this.

This was my first favorites video, so I wasn't sure exactly what kinds of things

to include XD Thank you all so so much for watching! I hope that you all have a

super-wonderful day, and don't forget that progress is more important than

perfection <3

JAPAN VS WEST: WHO HAS MORE FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION THROUGH FASHION? - Duration: 13:50.

Things that not everyone has.

Things like that would make the essence.

I think there is a broader choice of things to pick from.

??? In Japan you can walk around like this, only getting???

I think we have more freedom.

Hey guys and girls on Ask Japanese it's Cathy Cat and

today we have come to Brilliant Star Decorations.

The topic is poinson garden that's why you can see flowers behind me.

This event is about fashion but also music and musicals.

Quite interesting and we got an interesting mix of people here

We will ask them what the difference is between Japanese and foreign fashion

which of those is more free and gives you more freedom of expression?

That might be an interesting question so let's go and Ask Japanese.

My name is Kaie. I am one of the singers of Brilliant Kingdom.

I am also the designerof the fashion brand Tripple Fortune.

I also perform as singer for Brilliant Kingdom and

and we both are the organizers of this special event.

I also write the stage script and choreography for the shows. My name is Babi.

Comparing fashion from abroad and from Japan, which one is more free?

Freedom is a difficult question...

I think we have different types of freedom.

Abroad I saw that it's difficult to actually get your hands on different fashion styles.

The coordinates with the things you can find there show how good their skills are.

- I also think abroad has very colourful fashion. - You are right there.

Seeing how things are worn in a different way abroad, is very interesting.

In Japan we have a wider range and freedom of styles to pick from.

We can get a lot of items here.

???

Having seen fashion abroad and in Japan, who has more freedom in your opinion?

Thinking of the degree of freedom, I am tending towards picking Japan.

At the Butler`s Cafe Swallowtail where I serve at,

many ladies of high taste prefer to wear cute and delightful styles.

But there is a wide range of freedom of expression of our guests.

And I think that is a truly delightful thing.

What do you think is the biggest fashion difference between Japan and abroad?

I wonder what that could be. Choosing one above others would be challenging.

?

I would say there are less boundaries.

But I think there is a wider range of choices to pick from in Japan.

When we envision a country, there are things we envision together with that.

When envisioning Japan, there is no one-fits-all image.

There are people who dress like this or that.

There are so many styles here, therefore I feel like we might have a wider choice here.

I think abroad has more freedom than Japan.

Really? What makes you say that?

If you dress like this people will REALLY stare at you.

And sneaky people will take sneaky pictures.

What do you think?

I think it varies on which country and prefecture people live in.

In countries where people can wear Lolita fashion...

it doesn't seem to be such a problem to wear it there.

Thinking of that, abroad seems more free.

Where can you enjoy this fashion freely in Japan?

Events like this Brilliant Kingdom event.

Or lolita tea parties. Events like that.

What do you think?

Events and tea parties...

apart from that there doesn't seem to be a way to wear it.

Wearing it on my own is a bit lonely.

It depends on which country we are talking about...

But in Japan many people enjoy wearing a wider range of existing fashion styles.

So if I had to pick which country has more freedom, I would say Japan.

Is there a place or event where to wear this fashion more freely?

I would be Tokyo's Harajuku area.

In Harajuku many people wear different clothes.

Best place would be Harajuku.

On the first impression I would say abroad...

But speaking with foreigners they often say wearing Lolita fashion is hard abroad.

Have you heard what makes it so hard to wear?

The Western locations look really good with the fashion but...

But there are only a few tea parties and events for it.

There are not quite enough. But in Japan on the other hand...

we don't only have these events. Lolita friends will make up for their own tea parties.

So our freedom might be somewhere around there.

Abroad has the freedom of not having to wear school uniforms...

at least that's the image I have.

In Japan wearing a school uniform is important.

So we seem like we have more freedom, but we actually don't.

But kids will then break out and wear their freedom of style somewhere else.

For example cosplay or a fashion style like Lolita fashion.

???

I don't think one or the other has more freedom.

We all have freedom.

The difference are the contents.

In Japan we have more varied contents.

????????????

It's a different type of freedom.

I think in Japan there are more PLACES where we can enjoy freedom of expression.

For example where?

In Harajuku you can wear fashion without problems that you could never

wear at the office.

And when it's Halloween we all assemble and celebrate a lot.

I think that's one of our national traits .

We have many chances to dress up.

I don't think there is a difference in freedom of fashion between Japan and abroad.

There were some people who could not wear certain fashion

because of their religion. However, recently, people have changed that

By wearing a burka with a colorful flower pattern and such.

So there are less restrictions. We all can enjoy wearing what we like.

I think both have freedom.

But in Japan there are many people who worry what others might think.

???

If you still abide by the law of your country, we all have ways to express ourselves.

Western clothing is more accepted in the West right.

In Japan we worry a lot about what others might think.

My mum used to tell me "you embarrass us" so I had to hide my Lolita clothes.

She told you to hide your clothes? Who said that?

My mother did tell me that.

I was ok but my friend got told "stop wearing these clothes in public" by their parents.

Many parents are that strict? - Yes very.

I guess they don't want us to stand out.

"Don't stand out" is what we get told.

So I would wear normal clothes when leaving the house

but have my clothes in my bag and would then change later in town.

Spend time with friends, and then change again before going home.

Do you worry a lot about what your parents say?

We do.

Japan used to release many Japanese fashion styles into the world.

But recently people abroad wear it even more strictly.

I saw it on Instagram.

Well, what we as Japanese lolitas aspire to have...

is having blonde hair, blue eyes and such.

We admire western ideals such as pale skin and french dolls.

I think we adapted that admiration into Lolita fashion.

So when I see a pale girl wearing Lolita fashion...

I envy that. - They look like real dolls.

I am so jealous.

Do you think abroad is more free?

I think Lolita fashion is more popular abroad right now.

I like Japanese fashion and western fashion too.

I also check out western fashion on Instagram or Youtube.

I learn from makeup movies too.

I like combining both because both are great.

Might sound similar. Both fashion worlds are a lot of fun

and have their own beauty.

Which style has more freedom?

If you don't like being judged, then Japan might be the better place.

There are some countries where it's dangerous to stand out.

???

??? In Japan you can walk around like this, only getting???

We are quite free.

Japan has a very docile nature.

Abroad can be more direct and flashy.

I think Japan can take that as reference.

We have freedom but in different directions.

But to be honest... I think if you wear your favourite fashion...

you will get judged everywhere.

I wouldn't separate it between Japan and abroad.

It depends on the person who wears it.

That's the difference. There are foreigners who wear Lolita fashion too.

Instead of splitting it between abroad and Japan, I personally...

think we all have individual things we like.

You can now look up anything online, so we have a lot of freedom there.

People here are sharing a lot of information.

I think Japan and the West are influencing and changing each other.

I also keep checking what styles might come up and become popular.

Thank you for today.

Where do you actually have more freedom of fashion abroad or Japan?

There seem to be many different opinions here and some have never been abroad

Personally what I can say, in Germany is not much freedom of fashion.

People dress down a lot and don't dress up as much.

In the UK there was more freedom of fashion, I could walk around like this

in Lolita fashion without getting negative comments (to that extend)

In Germany I got a lot of negative comments.

In the UK not as much.

What I have seen in European countries is you go in the safety in numbers.

Meaning, if you are not comfortable going out on your own in your fashion,

then you do it together with friends.

That's a lot of fun because you also make new friends.

In Japan you can walk around like this alone and won't get negative comments

People will generally say nice things, won't attack you and will accept your style.

Obviously if you go to the countryside you get a lot of looks no matter

if you are foreign or Japanese if you dress in a different style.

But still people won't attack you.

Which gives you more freedom to express yourself.

If you happen to be in a place like Harajuku

You might find like minded people and make new friends.

And of course there are many events you can join in Japan and abroad.

I hope you enjoyed this video, catch you soon for another video on Ask Japanese.
