Overview of my French Exchange // Bilan de Mon Échange en France - Duration: 8:45.

Hey everyone, it's Holly and today I'm gonna be making a video about my French

exchange. So I was in France for three months this year from February to May

and it was one of the most incredible things I've ever done in my life so I'm

just gonna talk a little bit about it and I'm gonna be speaking in French so

the rest of the video is going to be in French. I went to France and I was

staying near Lyon and it was just amazing! So this is all about an

overview of my exchange and let's just get started.

So I think that one word that describes my exchange is the word "adventure" (adventure).

And I think it was really an adventure when I was in France, because it wasn't just the destinations

like Paris, Avignon and all the other cities I visited that were the best, although

they were incredible as well. But it was also each moment of each day that were incredible.

And I said to myself that it was an adventure at the start. I said "Oh, it's the beginning of my adventure!"

"The adventure begins!"

But I said that to myself when I was in France as well. During the exchange, I said that "I need to make the most of everything,

I should do as much as I can while I'm here because

when I'm in Canada I don't have the same opportunities. Not everything is the same."

Therefore, I think it was an adventure to be France

and that's the word that I think really sums up my exchange.

Also, the memories I had in France are going to stay with me for the rest of my life.

And I think one of the best things was that when I was in the car with my host family in France,

we listened to loud music together as we travelled to the amazing sights!

That was one of my favourite things. And as well the classes at school,

I really enjoyed them and being with friends at school.

It was interesting for me to have classes entirely in french.

In french class I learned that I really like french poetry and reading books in french.

Now I read french books in Canada and I think that helps me

to continue speaking in french and reading in another language so

that I can continue with that even though I'm no longer in France. And yeah,

I think it's incredible to have so many memories, and all the photos and video I took are

awesome. And for me, it's just so cool to have that in my mind

and to think that I've done so many other things that I don't do in Canada.

Now I'm going to talk a bit about how things have changed since I've been back in Canada.

I've been back for three months now, which is weird because I was in France for three months too.

But time seems to pass more quickly when I'm home in Canada because it's my everyday life and it's normal for me.

So a couple days ago, as I've been back for three months, I thought to myself that three months ago I was in an airplane

coming back to Canada after my exchange in France.

And for me, that's crazy! Since my exchange was such a big part of my life,

and I've thought about it a lot over the past couple years, and now it's over.

But life continues, and I think there are a lot of things coming up that I'm going to do in my life.

If you can do an exchange, you should do it because it's amazing!

So yeah, it's just strange that it's been three months because things haven't changed much

and that's something I saw in Canada when I returned.

I thought things would've changed because I saw so many things and I changed a bit.

However, after returning I saw that things were pretty much the same as they were before I went to France.

It's just that everyone else was really, they were going to school,

but for me I was in France going to school there.

And I talked with other people in french and learned another language.

That changed me, and I think in my mind it changed me in a couple different ways.

The first is independence. Now I think I'm more independent

because when I had problems in France or times when I didn't know what to do,

I had to do it by myself or other people and not just with my family.

Because for the rest of my life I'd just talked to my parents when I had a problem

which made me feel better and helped me find solutions to problems.

But in France, when I had times when I wasn't sure what I should do

I had to get through it by myself which gave me confidence in myself and my abilities.

The second thing that I think has changed in me is that I now have a love of a language.

Obviously I learned a language, because I was in France for three months and that's why I was there,

but it's also more than that, because the french accent is so, so pretty!

I didn't know that before because the only time I heard french before I went to France was in my french class.

And yeah it's good to learn french in a classroom, but it's not the same as when you're actually in France

because people speak faster there and use expressions and slang.

I found that while I was in France, because I really listened to the language and

it was incredible when I started dreaming in french, and speaking and thinking in the language.

At the start it was a little weird because I was thinking a bit in english and a bit in french, but by the end

I wanted to stay there a long time! I think I'm going to

return to France many more times. Maybe for university,

maybe just to travel to other sites in France since

I loved it a lot and I would really like to speak in french again with other people, ones I don't know now.

And I think that'll be interesting for me.

The third thing that's changed is my love for travel.

I hadn't travelled a ton before I went to France and

after going there I thought to myself that there are so many places I've never seen before

and now I have more of a desire to see everything in the world!

It's not that I've seen everything because that's not true. I've seen only a couple families, a different school, and the places I visited.

But at the same time, before going to France I'd seen only part of Canada and the United States

and not other countries. Now I want to go back to Europe, or go to Asia or Australia...

I don't know exactly, but I want to travel lots more times throughout my life!

Finally, another thing that's different about me is how I think.

It's just because I've seen a bit more of the world, and now when I think about things

I feel like I understand more that there's not just one right way to do something.

There are lots of things people do, but one thing isn't necessarily correct.

Of course it's like that because people all over the world do things differently.

And for me, I'm young, and I hadn't seen a lot of things other than my family

and my life here in Canada. But while I was in France, I saw a little bit more.

That helps give you a little more awareness of how the world functions

and how people are all different, yet all interesting.

So that's everything I wanted to say in this video. It's an overview of my exchange in France

and how much I loved it! I was so incredible to have the opportunity to go live in another country

I'm excited for the future, because I'm going to continue speaking in french.

And it's interesting for me because now I can watch videos and movies in french

which allows me to keep up my french even though I'm not in France anymore.

So if you have the opportunity to go on an exchange,

I've said it before but I'll say it again, because I think it's very important:

you should do it! Even though there are times that are hard and difficult

because you're away from your family and the country you've lived in for all your life,

it will give you more independence and confidence in yourself!

I'd really like to thank ISE, which is the program I used to go on my exchange.

There are lots of other programs you can use

but ISE Ontario is the one I used.

Now I don't really know what to say, since I've said everything I wanted to,

I hope you enjoyed this video and I'll see you guys next time. Bye!

Audiobooks [004] The Tail Of Max The Mindless Dog: A Children's Book On Mindfulness - Duration: 8:52.

The Tail Of Max The Mindless Dog A Children's Book On Mindfulness

Written By Florenza Lee And Illustrated By Michelle Wynn

Meet Max As a puppy, Max's tail would often times get hurt.

No matter how hard he would try, something happen to cause him pain.

As he slept, it would hurt.

While he was eating, it would hurt.

Even if Max was doing absolutely nothing at all,

something would happen to he tail, and he would find himself yelping in pain.

YELP!

As Max grew older, he thought his tail was the source of his pain.

One day, he said to himself, "I'm going to catch my tail and tie it a knot,

so it will never get hurt again."

He went around and around in circles, trying to catch his tail.

Max went around so fast, that he soon became dizzy.

Panting for air, Max declared, "I'm going to catch you yet, tail!"

Then poor Max plopped down and took a nap.

As soon as he woke up, he found that his tail was hurting again.

So he ran around and around in circles, trying to catch his tail.

Day after day, Max would chase his tail.

After a while, he forgot why he was even running in circles,

and thought it what was he was supposed to be doing.

Max chased his tail while at ballgames, and missed all the innings.

During recess, he chased his tail.

While the other students were running, skipping, and playing games.

His friends would invite him to come over and have fun.

But before he could reach them, he found himself running around in circles.

After a while, his friends began to call him Max, the Mindless Dog.

Because he seemed to have only one thing on his mind: Cathcing his tail.

His friends shook their heads and said, "Poor Max.

Doesn't he know he will never catch his tail?"

One day, Max's friend, Ross, asked him, "Hey, Max.

Why do you always chase your tail?"

Max paused, but realized that he did not have an answer.

He had been chasing his tail for so long, he had forgotten why he had been chasing it

in the first place.

Max replied, "I don't know.

I guess it is a habit."

Then Max continued to run in circles.

Max Learns A New Habit

Days later, Ross was walking by and saw his friend frantically running in circles.

And said to himself, "Max is missing out on all the fun in life.

I have to help my friend.

"I know just what to do.

I am going to help him learn a new habit."

Ross walked up to Max, tapped him on the shoulder, and said,

"Max, today you will learn a new habit.

You will learn to spend your time having fun."

Max was so happy, he began to bounce up and down.

He had always wanted to have fun, but didn't know how.

Max asked his friend how he was going to learn a new habit.

Breathe In And Out

Ross said, "If you find yourself chasing your tail, I want you to stop, close your eyes,

and concentrate on the feeling of the air, as it enters your air, and leaves."

"As you are breathing, say 'In' for each breath in, and 'Out' for each breath out."

"When you count to ten breaths in, and ten breaths out."

"Repeat these words."

"I will not chase my tail today, "I will not chase it any day.

"I'll use my time for friends and fun, "to hop and skip, and play and run.

"I will not waste another day.

"I'd rather use my time to play."

Itchy Twitchy

Max was almost home.

When all of a sudden, His nose started to twitch, and his tail started https://youtu.be/mIytKEnyLeU

And he found himself chasing his tail.

"Oh no!" said Max.

"I am chasing my tail again."

He then remembered the wise words of his friend, Ross.

Max stopped, closed his eyes, and breathed in, and out.

Counting his breaths, until he reached the number ten.

Then he said, "I will not chase my tail today,

"I will not chase it any day.

"I'll use my time for friends and fun, "to hop and skip, and play and run.

"I will not waste another day.

"I'd rather use my time to play."

Championship Game

When Max opened his eyes, he was happy to see he was not frantically chasing his tail,

but had become very calm.

He could not believe it!

Counting his breaths in and out, and then saying the words Ross had taught him, had helped.

Just then, his friends were walking down the street, going to play baseball.

(Olivia said to Lauren), "Hey! There's Max!"

"We need one more player for the game."

"Can't he play on our team?"

Lauren said, "Yes!"

"We need another player."

"But Max always chases his tail."

He could never play baseball, and this is our championship game."

As Lauren was speaking, Olivia looked, and noticed that Max was not chasing his tail at all!

He was just standing there smiling.

"Hey, Max!" said Olivia.

"Do you want to play baseball with us?

"We need another player for our championship game."

Home Run

He was so happy.

He said, "Yes," right away, and ran over to be with them.

Max was so good at baseball,

He hit the home run that allowed his team to win the championship game.

Everyone cheered for him.

Lauren asked Max how he learned not to chase his tail.

He smiled and said, "Each time I feel like chasing my tail,

"Stop, close my eyes, and concentrate."

"Breathing in, and breathing out."

"Then I say, 'In' for each breath in, and 'Out' for each breath out."

"After I count ten breaths in and out, I say,"

"I will not chase my tail today, "I will not chase it any day."

"I'll use my time for friends and fun, "to hop and skip, and play and run."

"I will not waste another day."

"I'd rather use my time to play."

His friends put him on their shoulders, and cheered,

"We are so happy for you, Max."

"We are going to change your name..."

"To Mindful Max."

Many years passed, and Max became old and grey.

As he was walking down the road, he saw a little puppy chasing his tail.

He remembered the days when he used to same.

So he walked over to the pup and said, "Son, whenever you feel like you need to chase your tail,"

"I want you to stop, close your eyes, concentrate on the feeling of the air,

"As it enters your nose, and as it leaves."

"As you are breathing, say 'In' for each breath in."

"And 'Out' for each breath out."

"Then, after you count ten breaths in, and out, repeat these words."

"I will not chase my tail today, "I will not chase it any day."

"I'll use my time for friends and fun, "to hop and skip, and play and run."

"I will not waste another day."

"I'd rather use my time to play."
