Trump retweets anti-Muslim videos, sparking outcry - Duration: 1:43.

Now for a look at stories making headlines around the world… we start with U.S. President

Donald Trump and his famed Twitter account.

On Wednesday, he retweeted three anti-Muslim videos posted by the deputy leader of a British

far-right group, sparking strong backlash from home and abroad.

With more we turn to our Ro Aram…

Aram… what reactions are we seeing?

Well Semin… the retweets prompted a rare rebuke from British Prime Minister Theresa

May.

Her spokesman said it was "wrong for the president to have done this".

The videos, posted by the deputy leader of Britain First Jayda Fransen, show a group

of Muslims destroying a Christian statue, pushing a boy off a roof and attacking a disabled

man.

May's spokesman added that Britain First used hateful narratives and lies.

But the White House defended Trump's actions, saying he was talking about national security

threats.

(English) "Look I'm not talking about the nature of

the video.

I think you're focusing on the wrong thing.

The threat is real and that's what the president is talking about is the need for national

security, the need for military spending.

And those are very real things there's nothing fake about that."

President Trump's retweets were also strongly condemned by Muslim and Arab groups in the

U.S. and the U.K.

It's not the first time for Trump to weigh in on the Britain's religious-tinged political

issues using Twitter.

He had previously accused London Mayor Sadiq Khan of mishandling a terrorist attack and

he also blamed the rise in crime rates in England and Wales to the "spread of radical

Islamic terror".

UN Security Council holds emergency session over North Korea's missile test - Duration: 0:45.

The UN Security Council has convened an emergency meeting... just over half-an-hour ago... to

discuss North Korea's missile launch.

The open-door meeting is being held... following a joint request by South Korea, the United

States and Japan... soon after Pyongyang's ICBM test.

The three countries are likely to lead efforts... to seek additional UN sanctions on the reclusive

nation,... on top of existing measures aimed at cutting off its sources of hard currency.

The UN Security Council has already adopted a slew of resolutions on the regime,... targeting

its export of products and commodities,... and blacklisting entities suspected of financing

its weapons programs.

S. Korea's intel agency says North's latest missile most advanced ICBM tested - Duration: 1:51.

South Korea's intelligence agency says it does not rule out the possibility of North

Korea conducting another nuclear test following its missile launch.

It also analyzed that the missile fired in the early hours of Wednesday morning was the

most advanced ICBM the regime has ever tested.

Kim Min-ji reports.

South Korea's intelligence agency says North Korea's latest missile is the most advanced

ICBM that it has tested so far.

At a parliamentary briefing on Wednesday,... the National Intelligence Service was quoted

as saying that it was an upgrade from the ICBMs the North has launched previously -- flying

higher and faster.

"The NIS said the distance flown was about 960 kilometers with an apogee of around 4,500

kilometers.

Given the high altitude and speed,... it appears to be an improvement on the Hwasong-14."

The spy agency's analysis is in line with Pyongyang's own statement which it made hours

after the test,... claiming a successful launch of the Hwasong-15.

The NIS said there were several likely reasons for the latest provocation -- to show that

the North can hit the U.S.,... to protest the sanctions against it,... and to solidify

internal unity.

It also said the test was foreseen given that Pyongyang was recently relisted by the U.S.

as a state sponsor of terrorism,... and that the regime has historically launched a provocation...

70 percent of the time when it has warned of a response.

(Stup) The spy agency added it cannot rule out the

possibility of another nuclear test either -- noting that North Korea's nuclear and missile

capabilities are progressing.

It said tensions could get higher,... should Pyongyang's provocations continue amid stronger

pressure from the international community.

NBC fires 'Today' host Matt Lauer for alleged sexual misconduct - Duration: 0:57.

NBC News has fired popular "Today" co-show host Matt Lauer after a colleague accused

him of inappropriate sexual behavior.

The network made the announcement on Wednesday, saying it received the complaint two days

before, which detailed claims of inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.

NBC added that it believes this may not have been an isolated incident.

Lauer's agent did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Meanwhile just hours after the NBC announcement, U.S. radio host Garrison Keillor said he had

been fired by Minnesota Public Radio after a female colleague accused him of inappropriate

behavior.

He told The Associated Press he just put his hand on her bare back in an attempt to console

her.

They are the latest public figures to be embroiled in allegations of sexual misconduct that have

recently struck down high-profile men in entertainment, politics and media.

About 200 Korean tourists stranded in Bali to travel by ferry and buses - Duration: 2:15.

The Korean government is sending a rescue plane to the Indonesian resort island of Bali

to start bringing back several thousand Korean nationals stranded there,... with international

airports closed over a potential volcanic eruption.

The first rescue plane will leave at around 3-P.M this afternoon.

Won Jung-hwan reports.

There are powerful and continuous tremors... and black volcanic ash is spewing into the

atmosphere.

Indonesian officials fear Bali's Mount Agung is on the verge of a full-scale eruption,...

and local residents and journalists within ten kilometers of the volcano were told by

authorities to evacuate.

(INDONESIAN)

"Yes I'm worried for sure but I want to get my stuff from my home, just for a while."

Bali's main airport, Denpasar International Airport, remained closed for nearly three

consecutive days,... leaving some 60-thousand travelers stranded.

Officials had originally extended the closure of Bali's main gateway for another 24 hours,....

but they reopened the airport as ash from Mount Agung shifted away from the transportation

hub and authorities downgraded their aviation warning to 'orange', the second most serious

level.

President Moon Jae-in, during a National Security Council meeting on Wednesday morning, urged

his staff to do everything they can to ensure the safety of Koreans in the area.

(KOREAN) "President Moon Jae-in asked Foreign Affairs

Minister Kang Kyung-hwa, to take active measures, including sending chartered airplane to secure

safe passage for Korean residents and tourists in Bali, stranded by the eruption."

Korea's embassy in Indonesia has drawn up measures to ensure the safety of Korean citizens

on Bali,... by providing alternative transportation, including ferries and buses, to help 200 Korean

tourists make the 12 to 13 hour journey from Bali to Juanda Airport on Indonesia's Java

Island.

Meanwhile, Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced it will use a chartered plane on

Thursday to take 273 Korean nationals still stranded in Bali to Surabaya Airport in East

Java.

N. Korea fires ICBM, reaches highest altitude yet - Duration: 3:50.

It was North Korea's 23rd missile launch of the year--

Breaking a lull stretching back to September,... North Korea launched an upgraded intercontinental

ballistic missile,... dubbed the "Hwasong-15."

Pyongyang proudly announced on Wednesday that the new missile was "significantly more" powerful

than its previous ones.

Experts say initial estimates show the missile could reach any part of the continental United

States.

Oh Jung-hee tells us more.

North Korea fired a long-range ballistic missile early Wednesday morning,... identified by

the regime as a newly developed Hwasong-15 ICBM.

The missile was fired at around 3:17 a.m. from Pyongsong,... a city located 30 kilometers

north of Pyongyang.

It flew 960-kilometers eastward for about 50 minutes and landed in the waters west of

Japan.

The missile was launched at a lofted angle... reaching 45-hundred kilometers -- higher than

any other previously launched North Korean missile.

Hwasong-15 is seen to be an upgraded version of the Hwasong-14 ICBM.

Compared to the Hwasong-14 ICBMs launched in July,... experts say...

Hwasong-15 seems to have a stronger engine... and so, flies farther.

(Korean) "The previous Hwasong-14 missiles could fly

up to 8 or 9-thousand kilometers... reaching the western part of the U.S.

But Wednesday's missile will be able to fly 11 to 12 thousand kilometers.

That covers the whole United States, including the eastern area."

And Pyongyang aimed to make an even greater impact out of this missile launch,... launching

it at early dawn.

(Korean) "Firing a missile at three o'clock in the

morning is indeed a "sudden attack" and helps the regime see how quick South Korea and the

U.S. are to respond.

Also, as it's daytime in the U.S. ... the North aimed to send an even more alarming

message to the U.S."

But in contrast to how a couple of the regime's missiles flew over Japan in August and September

and fell in the waters east of Japan,... this time, Pyongyang decided to step back.

(Korean) "If the North makes its missile land near

the U.S., then the political shock it sends to the world will be too large for it to handle,...

which may possibly lead to stronger international pressure."

The other expert suggested... this may be rather because North Korea was not able to

make technological progress in other areas like re-entry technology.

(Korean) "The North didn't mention re-entry technology

in today's announcement.

And instead of shooting the missile at a normal trajectory and let it pass over Japan, Pyongyang

once again fired its missile at a lofted angle.

This implies... that it may have not solved other technological issues like missile re-entry."

(Stand-up) "The Joint Chiefs of Staff say the recent

launch could be seen as a protest against the recent economic sanctions on the regime...

or against Washington reinstating North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism.

The South Korean military stressed... that it's never letting its guard down... and it

is always ready to strike back."

(Korean) "The South Korean military is keeping close

tabs on North Korea's military activities,... our military could destroy the origin of the

provocation and nuclear facilities with precision on any given day from the ground, sea or air."

South Korean forces launched precision strike missiles near the Northern Limit Line in the

East Sea... just six minutes after the North Korean launch was detected.

The JCS says it involved the Army's missile unit, one of the Navy's Aegis destroyers and

one of the Air Force's KF-16 fighter jets... each firing at a simulated target... with

the distance calibrated... to match that of the location... where North Korea test-fired

its missile.

Bank of Korea expected to raise key benchmark rate by 25 basis points - Duration: 0:50.

It's the big rate announcement day here in Korea--

The country's central bank is holding a monetary policy meeting this morning, where it's likely

to boost its policy rate by 25 basis points to one-point-five percent,... this despite

North Korea's firing of an ICBM just over 24 hours ago.

It's highly anticipated the Bank of Korea will rollback its accommodative stance,...

citing stronger growth on stronger exports, stable inflation and the U.S. Federal Reserve's

monetary tightening.

If the Bank of Korea does hike the rate,... it'll be the first increase in nearly six-and-a-half

years.

And Korea's financial market on Wednesday,... seemed stable enough to cushion what was to

come,... ahead of the rate adjustment day and the reaction to North Korea's missile

launch.
