Youtube daily report Apr 4 2018

Hi I'm Alex, this is Tank Tested, and you're looking at my Best in Show

winning aquascape. It's a custom tank with a viewing panel that gives a unique

perspective into the aquarium. In this episode, we'll be exploring the scape and

how I got it to the Big Fish Deal.

This tank has been in my home for about a

year it's near and dear to my heart because it's one of a kind

I built the stand myself and I modified the aquarium to make it a unique

centerpiece to my apartment the tank originally had the sloped side panels

you see here but they were just aesthetic so I decided to make a

modification I installed this viewing panel myself I cut a pane of glass to

size and then I used black aquarium silicone to seal it into place this

modification not only made the take stand out it also allowed me to fill the

aquarium all the way to the rim when it's filled this setup holds about

25 gallons or 95 litres of water so what's in the tank let's start with the

stone these are sold as see arrow stones and they're a form of limestone like any

limestone they'll slowly dissolve in water but under normal conditions you

die of old age long before this stone breaks down still see arrow stones like

this do increase the hardness of your water obviously I also have quite a few

plans in here as well in the foreground I've planted micrantha mom tree dia

which is sold under the common name Montecarlo it's a low growing carpeting

plant and it pearls nicely if given enough see you too

I've also grown it very successfully with no co2 at all it just grows quite a

bit slower in the middle of the tank I've got a thick carpet of MRSA Lea here

Asuka and sold into the name four leaf clover

but I think that's a pretty inaccurate title the leaves can take multiple forms

depending on their growing conditions in some instances they do look like

four-leaf clovers as they do when the 10-gallon scape I showed you a few

episodes ago but they can also grow large single leaves or four-leaf sprouts

that look bifurcated rather than rammed regardless it's a great beginner

carpeting plant that can grow under a low light and no co2 but it also grows

decently under medium light and grows well with pressurized carbon dioxide

finally I have planted this grass in the back it's a staple of my local club

guapa the Greater Washington aquatic plant Association a small clump was

collected from the wild by one of our members and it's since spread around the

club we've yet to get a positive ID on the grass so I don't know the scientific

name but there are similar grasses commercially available in the Hobby

now at competition there were also fish shrimp and snails in the tank but we'll

get to them after I move this scape to the big fish deal to get the tank to

competition first I needed to drain it that's why I waited to add the aquatic

life I used a Python that connects directly to my sink and it makes the

whole process speedy and clean I've included a link to the Python in the

description of this video now you don't need to drain the tank fully it's just a

matter of getting enough water out that a friend and I can lift the aquarium to

keep the rocks in place I filled about 50 sandwich bags with air and stuffed

them in the tank you can use any type of bag or newspaper for the same purpose

and like that the tank is where it needs to be filling the scape is pretty

painless you just need something to break the flow of water up I use a

colander

and there we go it's good as new

there's also a school of fish here courtesy of Rachael O'Leary

these are emerald iris Bora or more specifically Villa Bora gossip I'm not

pronouncing that name I chose them for this tank because

they're tight schoolers but won't steal the show they're brilliant reflective

eyes add a pop of color but they're silver bodies don't distract from the

rich green world I've tried to create escape I'll probably end up adding

another dozen or so emerald eyes in order to provide them

with enough numbers that they feel at home I really like species-specific

escapes because it means you can get enough fish for the natural behavior to

start to show a single species tank also means that you can make changes to the

habitat with a set of behaviors and needs in mind it's something you just

can't do with a community tank I've also added a few Amano shrimp to the tank

also from Rachel and they were very badly needed you've likely noticed the

buildup of algae throughout my tank these guys are masters of taking care of

it

finally there are a few neurite snails here there are wonderful cleaners and

because they're so rock like you almost don't notice them unless you really

start looking now since everyone asks I'm running this tank using a k1 bat

canister filter it's a great little filter but it has very low flow just

enough to keep my established tank running I also used a fin explanted plus

to light this game it provides decent coverage and gives off enough light for

my plants to live I provided a link to both the light and the filter in the

description of this video so that's my tank at the competition it was judged by

a couple people of note first the man who discovered the hare grass and

escaped Shawn Murphy second Joey the king of DIY also had a long look at my

tank he runs a wonderful YouTube channel that

I'll link here but let's be real you already know him to my surprise and an

odd turn of luck this tank won Best in Show I also got 3rd place in my category

of medium-sized tanks so you know try to figure that one out

still I want to thank Joey and Sean for judging and I'm glad they didn't hate my

escape if you like this video please share it and if you haven't already

please subscribe I'll see you next time

Sergei Mikheev against Russian and western libtards (English subs) - Duration: 9:17.

-I was always shocked, by this moral relativism, which our liberals are implementing in our modern reality.

-They talk a lot about human rights, about freedoms, about these freedoms being suppressed in Russian Empire and in the Soviet Union, about how bad their life is nowadays, all of their lives.

-They say, that these human rights are above top priority.

-But once we start talking about our past, it is like mr.Sytin said: 'The fact that back then they cut people's heads and killing children is no longer important. It's not important anymore.' (1)

-'So what if they were killing? So what if they were raping? So what if they pulled out people's guts and wrap them around their necks?'

-So where are your human rights now? It's not important, because 'the master' is in adifferent mood today.

-Like 'What's done is done. It's not relatively anymore.' They pay money for different things now.

-Human rights exist only when it comes to history of Russia.

-Whatever happened in Russian history we can not forget! Right, mr.Sytin?

-'These events do not have an expiration date, and never will be! We should always remember this.'

-'But there is completely different. So what if they killed huge number of people, including our NKVD officers?'

-Because they are not humans, these NKVD officers, right? They have no human right, etcetera, etcetera.

-To say the least, our liberals are no worse, that the fascists that were there. Well, no better than them, at least.

-Because if you let them, they'll put a guillotine at the Red Square and start cutting heads.

-They'll start cutting heads of all those, who are against liberalism. And they will put everyone to a liberal GULAG.

-Because they are no any fighters for human rights. You are true russophobes. You simply hate Russia. Everything else is none of your concern.

-That's why, whatever happened in Russia has no expiration date. But in there, is a totally diferent story.

-In there we can forget everything there, forgive everyone, explain everything. This is first, now second...

-Besides NATO trying to solve a particular problem, there is more to this history.

-Now it turns out, that if Russia is 'world's evil', then you have the right to justify any crime, under the guise of fighting against Russia.

-Any crime whatsoever!

-If at any point of your history you were fighting against historical Russia, then you are forgiven of everything forever, for all eternity!

-You become completely clean in the face of history. 'Kill, kill and kill'. Who said that? Goebbels.

-He said: 'I am going to take the blame for everything.' Hitler also said that.

-That's why, 'grandpa Hitler' without a doubt will be exonerated, if we continue like this.

-Since he was also fighting against Soviet Union. So what's the problem?

-He was fighting against 'horrible totalitarian Soviet Union', for the sake of European civilization.

-And if Holocaust didn't happened, then he would have been exonerated long ago.

-Of course, absolutely. And it is important one must realize this.

-Because what he was saying, him and his propagandists?

-He said: 'I am saving European culture from Bolshevism'. This is what he was saying.

-It's true, Vladimir, you are totally right. If there was no Holocaust, he would have been Europe's national hero long ago.

-And in large degree, these appear to be what European values all about.

-It will be good for us to watch this movie. We must realize what today's Europe is all about.

-Because while feeling their superiority over everyone else, they will inevitably return to the crimes they committed at some point in history.

-And they will definately justify them. How? By saying, that they were fighting against 'some barbarians'.

-And this is the essence of those 'European values' which you, mr.Sytin, are defending.

-And you don't give a damn about anything else. You simply hate Russia and everyone in it. Historically!

-You, and liberals like you.

-I'll say very shortly. I would agree with almost everything, except the fact, that I don't understand what relation I have to human rights.

S: -I was never engaged with it. H: -Oh, so you offended mr.Sytin. Z: -He is an opposer of human rights.

S: -I don't understand something here. M: -He is opposer of our human rights!

-I also have quite remote relation to liberals, but whatever. It's too much to discuss.

-I will emphasize this once more, that a war is really taking place, including ideological. So it's taking place.

-And regarding human rights of NKVD officers... Well, the same question can be asked NKVD officers, who suppressed this uprising, and this struggle.

-Well this just it. Give me a second here. While we are admitting our historical mistakes, we are expecting the same actions from them.

-And that is it. But they are not willing to admit theirs.

-This is really one of our weaknesses. We are constantly expecting understanding from them.

M: -But it's not going to happen. S: -There won't be any understanding. H: -There won't be. Z: -Nope.

H: -Go ahead, Vladimir Volfovich. Z: -You all right...

G: -They need to find an enemy, and Russia suits the role perfectly, unfortunately.

-By the way, this is a very important detail, which brings us to the next subject.

-With Latvia and their complexes, and their puny elite, who simply don't have brains for anything else.

-The feeling of their historical offense and this revenge is all they have. They have nothing else 'to sell'.

-And what else can they offer humanity, to show? There is nothing else. Absolutely nothing.

-And they have only brains to sell this geopolitical role, because otherwise nobody is going to notice them, at all.

-It's clear with them. But with the west...

-For many many years already, we have the following point of view dominating the minds: 'The west wants what's good for us! It's just - we are that bad!'

-It's all because 'you layed down incorrectly'. (2) There is this proverb, not very appropriate, I apologize.

-We either didn't explained something... Or we have wrong history... Or we are doing something wrong...

-We are reading the wrong books... Etcetera, etcetera... But no, it's not even close.

-Because look, what is the real goal of the west, regarding the historical Russia? (3)

-If the west really wanted to establish a condition of safety, condition of cooperation, even if it was mostly on their terms, then they would have had a completely different approach.

-There is no need for these movies. Nor expansion of NATO. Nor strengthening eastern, western and the rest of 'frontlines'.

-They would have use a completely different approach. So what does the west wants, historically?

-The west wants only 1 thing - domination in enslavement.

-They need Russia as en enemy! We don't need west as an enemy.

-Why are we always waiting for understanding? Because in reality, we, Russians and all Russian citizens, do not need the west as an enemy.

-We are often blamed for our americanophobia, that we hate the west... Not even close!

-This is just it - we, on our part, don't want to see the west as an enemy. Or the east as an enemy, for that matter.

-But the west, it needs us as an enemy! They only want to see us as an enemy. And they never needed cooperation and security.

-Maybe they themselves don't realize this, it's a different story.

-Maybe a part of their political elite and regular citizens do not understand this.

-But in reality, those who control historical processes, do realize this.

-They do not need any cooperation with Russia whatsoever.

-That is why, when they say: 'Oh, why are you constantly blaming west...? Why are you constantly blaming America...? Because look, we have corruption.'

-We do have corruption, without a doubt.

-But we are blaming America and the west quite often, because in reality, their actions are telling us, that there is not going to be any cooperation, let alone equal rights.

-They have a different historical goal - either submission or enslavement, or destruction. That's it!

-And they really need Russia as an enemy! They simply can't live without it! This is the problem.

-I am going to disagree, that Russia is playing a convenient role for the west - a role of an enemy.

-Their historical goals maybe so, but it is more complicated than that, and we will need too much time to discuss it.

-But I have told numerous times, that west has suffered a certain crisis of their views on Russia, after... Well, after 1991, to put it shortly.

-And after the international situation, that formed in 1991, started to change, which you call 'strengthening of the country',

-While west calls it 'rise of danged from Russia's side'.

-I said and wrote several times, and openly spoke about this, that indeed, russophobia is occupying the empty space of anti-Sovietism.

-Because we can no longer talk about anti-Sovietism. Both, Russia and the west suffered a certain discomfort.

-From Moscow they were talling: 'Oh, we are a part of free capitalist world... We are the same as you...'

-The west was also saying: 'Oh, everything has changed there... They are no longer communists...'

-It turned out, that yes, we are no longer communists, but little has changed, in reality.

-And I would like to point out another tendency from this show, while I have this opportunity.

-We are about to, and we will start a period, I mean the MSM, when we will exonerate and praise NKVD officers. This I can already see and feel.

M: -Well, listen, analysing events is one thing. The essence is in evaluation. B: -What are you feeling there? They were law enforcement agents, who kept order in the country. M: -Semyon Arkadievich, give me a second.

B: -If that's the case, then let us put in doubt operatives of MVD, FSB. They are all enemies, according to your logic?

H: -Semyon Arkadievich, 2 words for Sergei, then you. M: -A couple of words, literally.

-The question is not who analysed and what. Many people were saying and writing about 'their role in world's history'. We are not talking about this right now.

-The important thing is in the evaluation. Analysing - is one thing. But justifying it - is completely different.

-The problem is that you, and the likes of you, are justifying it, and think that this is normal.

-That it is us, who need to constantly blame ourselves for everything. Maybe we should all go and hang ourselves for them, huh?

-'But their actions are justified. They didn't see enough changes.' you say.

-And why do we need to change in the way they want it? It's the matter of joint consessions. The west don't need no joint consessions.

-They need destruction. They need destruction! The destruction of us.

#ALVARO MORATA is the latest star to feel the heat under Antonio Conte. - Duration: 2:38.

ALVARO MORATA is the latest star to feel the heat under Antonio Conte.

The hardline Chelsea boss wants more out of the Spanish striker, who cost the club a record £65million last summer and who has scored 14 goals in his debut season.

Alvaro Morata has come in for criticism from Antonio Conte for recent performances.

Antonio Conte has not hidden fact he is not pleased with Alvaro Morata.

Even so Conte believes Morata, 25, should be delivering on a more  consistent basis.

There is a feeling in the camp the former Real Madrid man does not make football his  priority — a big no-no for Conte who claims he works 24 hours a day.

Morata has suffered a back injury and endured a barren spell this season as he battles to adapt to the physical punishment of English football and the heavy fixture load.

He has scored in each of his last two games but also went through a 13-game goalless run from December to March in which the frustrated striker was booked five times and sent off.

Chelsea and Tottenham fans clash yards from Stamford Bridge as heated London derby turns nasty.

David Luiz has barely featured this term since falling out with Antonio Conte.

Mauricio Pochettino has ended Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

Morata was left out of the Spain squad for the most recent round of international games in a further blow.

Defenders David Luiz and Gary Cahill have also found themselves on the wrong end of Conte's uncompromising management style.

Luiz was frozen out after a row with the  Italian chief in a team  tactics meeting and is now recovering from injury.

Club captain Cahill has been dropped in favour of German Antonio Rudiger and has started only one game since February 16.

FIT FORNES SUPRIMIR EL APETITO el pan con la fibra, la proteína, frutos secos - Duration: 4:27.

Appetite-suppressing bread with fiber, protein, dried fruit can reduce calorie intake between

meals Sunday, April 01, 2018 by: Zoey Sky

According to a team of researchers from the University of Granada (UGR), cereal-based

bread can soon help individuals curb their appetite more effectively than other types

of bread.

The researchers, led by Professor Ángel Gil Hernández and Dr. María Dolores Mesa García

at UGR's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology II, collaborated with Puratos,

a company that offers various bakery products like bread mixes and topping for the study.

The extensive study looked into the potential benefits of a cereal-based bread fortified

with dried fruit, proteins, and soluble fiber.

The fortified bread helps suppress the appetite, and it is more effective than traditional

types of bread.

The appetite-suppressing bread was designed to minimize food consumption between meals,

effectively controlling an individual's energy intake.

The cereal-based bead contains several kinds of flour (like oat, spelt, and wheat) and

22 percent dried fruit (such as apricots, figs, and raisins).

The results of the study showed that eating the cereal-based bread "sates the appetite

more than standard breads and alleviates hunger in healthy adults.

Dr. Carolina González Antón, a co-author of the study, explained that consuming high-fiber

foods can help satisfy hunger since they reduce snacking.

They also help manage energy intake and promote healthier eating habits.

The researchers noted that the high-fiber bread used in the study is a suitable breakfast

food.

Dr. González Antón added, "Skipping breakfast is a common phenomenon, and too many pastries,

sweets, and juices are consumed as part of this meal.

Such eating habits are associated with excess weight and obesity.

Cereal-based bread which is rich in soluble fiber, proteins and dried fruit provides a

balanced breakfast solution that is quick and easy, improving appetite as well as glycemic

and insulinemic responses."

The study observed participants aged 18 to 29 years old.

The volunteers ate breakfast daily and their diet included bread.

The experimental group's breakfast included the cereal-based bread and a glass of water.

On the other hand, the control group's breakfast consisted of sliced white bread (85 grams

[g]), jam (10g) and margarine (2g), and a glass of water.

The results that analyzed the levels of satiety were very positive for the appetite-suppressing

cereal-based bread.

The study's results were published in the Journal of Nutrition.

The results were also included in the systematic review of bread and satiety carried out by

the same research group and it was also published in Critical Review in Food Science and Nutrition.

Natural appetite suppressants If you're trying to live a healthier lifestyle

by cutting down on your snacking, try some of the natural appetite suppressants below:

Caralluma fimbriata – An herb traditionally used for appetite suppression, Caralluma fimbriata

has also been used to enhance endurance.

Fenugreek – An herb from the legume family, fenugreek has a high fiber content.

The herb can help slow down stomach emptying and delay carbohydrate and fat absorption,

which curbs appetite and improves blood sugar control.

Glucomannan – A popular soluble fiber, glucomannan is effective for weight loss.

It helps reduce appetite and decrease food intake.

Green tea extract – Green tea extract has caffeine and catechins, which can both boost

metabolism, burn fat, and help with weight loss.

Yerba mate – Yerba mate is a plant with energy-boosting properties, and it can help

boost glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) and leptin levels.

These two compounds can help increase satiety levels and decrease appetite.

Wywiad z jury LFF w składzie Michał J. Zabłocki, Piotr Kotowski, Bartosz Żurawiecki - Duration: 17:09.

Common thread of this jury is a good taste in films.

It turned out that we like the same films.

There weren't any big discrepancies in proposals for awards.

We didn't have to convince each other. Even there, where we had two types,

that we have to choose one or another. Very quick and nice conversation.

We considered our task very reasonably.

We chose really fast the films, that got our attention.

It turned out that regardless of our taste and expectations,

there is a group of films that we all like.

and we want give them awards in particular categories.

We had a lot of awards to give.

If we had had to choose one film,

it would have lasted longer, but there are a few awards,

so we decided quick.

I'd like to say that statistically speaking

We watched over 70 films.

Within 1,5 month, before we met here.

The deliberations were short.

About 2 hours.

Firstly we told each other about films that we especially like in particular category.

Then we talked about details and revealed differences of opinion.

Thankfully we were three.

And always odd number of jurors favors voting.

We were unanimous in four of seven categories.

What means that we had no doubts concerning the best films in the given category.

There were some differences in opinion concerning three remaining films.

Usually it ended with 2:1 ratio as far as our votes are concerned.

That's all about our deliberations.

I think that proves that

it wasn't difficult

to fish out these dasies.

It's a very difficult question.

Every of us has seen thousands of films.

We are all engaged in assessing films.

And I'm sure we were assessing them differently.

Vittorio Storaro said that cinema has no nationality.

Regardless of the origins of the films

we could easily

find these with interesting topics.

I noticed that most of them were about adolescence.

Probably because they were made by young people. So they may used their own experiences.

To sum up, I can say that

firstly - topic, secondly - form

and the way of shooting.

The question is if we have a brush with cinema,

if we have a brush with TV theater

or do we have a brush with a kind of bungle.

If I advised some of producers of fiction films,

I would recommend them to read a few books about editing.

The organisers made a lot of work for us.

The films are segregated into categories.

in nonobvious categories: not fiction, documentary, animation,

but masters of emotions, masters of observation,

So this selection suggests us a little bit

what should be emphasized in the film.

And when we had to decide about the category "Well Twisted Masters"

It was obvious that we have to chose the most twisted film in the competition.

It was the first case when we took the name of the category into consideration

by choosing the winner in the given category, we were looking for the films

that comply with the requirements of the given category.

Speaking about full-length films, it turned out that

almost all the films chosen by the organisers

are about growing up, about young people, about generation conflicts.

So it was easier to compare them, how they talk about this topic.

And we chose the film that affected us the most.

We had fewer problems by assessing fiction films.

Because we have a brush with fiction films on a daily basis.

but also directors of fictions films have some privileges.

They have more time for developing the idea,

for some dramaturgic nuances.

for creating psychological portraits of characters.

There is a range of issues that can be taken into consideration

while talking about these films and they are considered as advantages.

As far as short films are concerned,

I think that their producers had bigger problem than we, jurors.

Having at their disposal from several minutes to half an hour,

for presenting the story, it must be summarized.

to the minimum, but the idea must be presented.

They have to present the story on the screen in a short way.

The idea is the most important factor here but also the author's imagination.

Finding balance of these elements was more difficult in short films.

But we managed to do it.

I think our tastes came out while choosing the Grand Prix winner.

We chose one film that is the best for us.

That was also the organisers' wish.

We had some doubts and asked them during the deliberations.

If it will be fair against particular teams and categories,

But they explained us that they really want us to find the best film.

We decided that one of the films that won in its category get Grand Prix.

Paradoxically the interval after watching the films is an advantage.

We didn't see the films now, together with an audience.

Like it always used to be during festivals.

Now technology gives us an opportunity to watch them earlier.

We can discuss about pros and cons of it, but for me it's an advantage

because there are films we forget about, even if we were impressed after watching them,

And there are films that were memorable or films that we appreciated not immediately, but afer a while.

And while deliberations it turned out that similar films stood out in our minds.

Obviously there were a few films we had different opinion about.

Or films that ultimately lost in voting.

But generally speaking the list of the winners reflects that, what really was the most valuable.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

And both Grand Prix, in short films and full-length films

were chosen by us unanimously.

What means that these two films impressed us the most.

However, I was impressed also by a few films that didn't get award.

It was impossible to award all of them.

Some of them were really good, but didn't have enough luck this time.

But we wish them good luck by other festivals.

You are asking such questions that are difficult to answer curtly.

I have taken part in festival for a few years but I can't

compare this edition with the previous ones.

The cinema has changed, the film language has changed.

Once film had 100 takes and it was a reason to celebrate.

Now film has 1000 takes and the end is nowhere in sight.

Everything has changed and an independent cinema has changed too.

I really like this festival, I like independent films.

Here paucity of funds and possibilities easily reaveals author's idea.

And it causes that we are looking for new solutions.

For me the level of festival was quite good in this year.

First of all, the diversity of styles.

The diversity of countries where films were made is impressive.

I agree with Michał.

When I started as film critic

the border between amateur and professional film was very clear.

Then there were separated festivals of amateur films.

We could expect films that are worse than films produced in film schools,

as far as technical staff, language or their character are concerned.

Now we can't see these differences.

There are even no differences in names, we had amateur films, arthouse films, now there alternative films, independent films.

It's hard to find the name for this group of films.

Here we also had films produced professionally by film schools or producers,

and films produced not professionally and with small budget.

So it's diffucult to find here common factor.

The level of each festival is a resultant of a few factors.

First of all, selection.

Not every festival is privileged to choose among plenty of films.

Many festivals are dependent on what authors send.

Then it depends on selectors' taste and exeperience, how the program will look like.

Choosing winner in this category wasn't unanimous, I felt differently.

I'm happy that I don't have to answer this question.

I'm not going to reveal my taste.

But I respect this film and it was the winner in its category, without doubts.

But speaking about Grand Prix, I give the floor to my collegues.

This film is very professional.

The plot is developing and it leads to the punch line.

This film is gripping.

Some of the films can't be so gripping to the very end.

This film on the contrary, it's more and more interesting with each new scene.

The main characters aren't young, actually it's a couple of old people.

It shows us completely different picture of grandparents.

They are not grandparents who are sitting next to the fireplace and taking care of grandchildren.

I like the fact that this film is really honest.

It's a story about people in autumn years who really enjoy their life.

Despite various difficulties in life.

They have never given up, they have tried to take care of their love.

It's really optimistic, this love is a never-ending story.

It's hard to speculate. Every year we rely on that what we can see.

There are so many films that always some of them are compelling.

We like some of them, some of them not.

But it's normal during festivals that not everyone enjoys everything.

We will see in a year what the organisers will prepare for us.

If we will be invited.

Jurors are always privileged. They have right to like or dislike films.

There's no appeal from our verdicts.

I have to argue with your statement that there are some schemes here.

There are no schemes in the cinema.

We can only speak about films of particular type, particular genre or length,

of particular format or topic.

Besides, the whole sphere of film forms and subjects is unpredictable.

Narrowboat to Wedgwood Pottery Factory & I throw a Pot! - 41 - Duration: 7:50.

Hello, how you doing? This isn't the Shropshire Union Canal hang on a minute.

Well what a busy couple of weeks I've had. I went up onto the Trent & Mersey then

turn left onto the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal on my way to the

Shropshire Union and exactly two weeks ago tonight, an absolute disaster happened on

the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union. The canal bank

burst, right next to an aqueduct and all the water from the canal went rushing

down into the river below. Caused complete chaos, stranded sort of 27 boats

I think it was, all sat on the mud. Complete disaster. Now I wasn't going on

the Middlewich Branch until later on in the summer but it'll be out of action

for months and months and cost a lot of money. Millions and millions of pounds to fix.

Now remember Canal & River Trust that

I pay my licence to is a charity and yes they must have some sort of contingency

funds for for disasters like this but, this is going to cost them so much money.

So I've included a link below to their Just Giving page and let's see if we can

donate some money in and get it fixed. Now the reason why I'm not going on the

Shropshire Union, even though it hasn't affected me directly, is a number of

viewers got in contact saying that because there's a lot of hire boat

companies on the Shropshire Union and also on the Llangollen, they've now got nowhere

to go. They're sort of stranded on the journey

of the Shropshire Union and left on Llangollen.

Now they are long canals and they won't be affected hire boat wise, but you

know me, I don't really like going to areas where there's lots and lots of

people. So I moored up in Stafford Boat Club for a couple of days. I took a

couple of days off, went and did some work and I've turned around and come

on to the Trent & Mersey Canal. You can't travel north towards Stoke-on-Trent

without passing Wedgwood. It's a fine china, porcelain and luxury accessory

manufacturer. There are lots of mooring spaces before and after bridge 104. It's

then a quick walk up the road to the factory. I posted a few comments on

Twitter and Facebook that I was coming here today and boy did I get some funny

comments. Ian Dickson was the first one that made a funny comment he said

I knew it would happen after such a drastic change

in the way you live, you've finally going potty,

lets hope you don't crack as well!

Nice little jokes there Ian seeing as I was going to a pottery factory and

John Rushworth commented

Crockery what happened to batteries and stuff. Anyone would

think you on a permanent holiday!

Well John, that's exactly it. I wanted to mix

it up a little bit. For the last couple of videos, I've done nothing but batteries,

cables, connectors, so I thought there's nothing more drastic than a

video completely the other end of the scale, which is about pottery. So I went

inside and let's have a look at how I got on.

Josiah Wedgwood worked with the established Potter Thomas Whieldon until

1759 when relatives leased Ivy house to him, which is just northeast of the city.

It allowed him to start his own pottery business on this large Staffordshire

estate. In 1765 Wedgwood created a new form of earthenware which impressed the

then, British Queen consort. She gave official permission to call it

Queen's ware, which sold extremely well across Europe. Obviously there's a lot of

testing involved when doing pottery. In these drawers there's all the different

types of glazing and the different colours that they used. After thousands of

tests and experiments, Josiah created Jasper, the most famous of

his inventions in 1774. It was an unglazed stoneware made from blue, green,

lilac, yellow, black or white. The iconic light blue Jasper gave rise to the

expression 'Wedgwood Blue' and remains a recognisable Wedgwood signature

worldwide. The museum here at Wedgwood is really quite big. It explains the full

history of the pottery company right back to the 1700s. Josiah Wedgwood

quickly became Britain's most inspired and successful ceramics pioneer. His

genius led English pottery from a cottage craft, to an art form and

international industry that is still going today. There's a factory tour here

but photography is strictly forbidden but I've been granted special permission

to show you inside. Fourteen and a half thousand new pieces are made here every

week. The vast factory floor buzzes with

hundreds of items traveling along conveyer belts, in

and out of ovens in every direction. There are different things going on.

Porcelain is painted in one direction and crafts men and women are patiently

modelling and decorating exclusive signature pieces in another. As with all

factories, there is a shop here where you can buy all manner of items. Or simply

have an afternoon tea

I went to the restaurant to have a traditional British lunch

of fish and chips - and yes, it was served on Wedgwood crockery! It was then time

for me to put on my apron and throw my first pot.

I wanted to make something similar - ish to number 2. After doing so well, I got

a bit of a wobble on. Luckily Mandy was on hand to help me

de-wobble my new jug.

Oh it's getting there. Then using a wire I cut it from the wheel. It'll now be

glazed, fired and post it to me. I don't think I'm gonna have a job here but

anyway!

Give us your paw... Good Girl.

Give us your paw... Good Girl.

Give us your paw... Good Girl.

Yeah you are, you're a good girl. yes you are.

I've just got round the corner from the Wedgwood factory into the lock and

there's loads of people here helping and lots of boats waiting to go up and down.

Well I've got my brand-new Wedgwood mug, with a fresh cup of coffee and I'm

heading north towards Stoke. But before I go, a viewer got in contact with me this

week as her son has something to say. Take it away Henry!

2, 4, 6, 8 who do we appreciate?

Not the king, not the queen but Jono, Jono, Jono! (Thanks Henry!)

Seed Germination Test Using Gordeev's Technology - Duration: 6:51.

>> TATIANA: In this video, I'll tell you...

as we test the seeds for germination.

[♪ music ♪]

Why check seeds for similarity? !!

Sowed the seeds - but they did not rise ?! Common situation?!

The best understanding of the answer to this question comes in practice.

Especially with intensive farming, with large sowing volumes.

For example, when growing seedlings.

When you lose at first a week of labor to sow 150 thousand seeds...

and it rises 5 times less.

And then you suffer 2 more months. And then a whole year - until the next spring...

bite your elbows, realizing the colossal losses.

After all, and water, and feed, and weed, and hide from frost...

- all these, and many other works, have to be carried out in the same volume!

Yes, this is true, even when you sow a couple of dozen seeds...

in the box on the windowsill.

In any case - the loss of time, energy. Unjustified expectations and desires.

Regrets cover and from what we carefully buy...

or grow seeds long before sowing.

And they do not rise.

And there is nothing to replace them.

And so on and so forth.

So, why not check seeds for germination in advance?

Here we are right now and check! :-)

By the way, in the same way...

You can also quickly bring it to the squatting before sowing...

seeds of finicky crops, which usually rise too long.

For example, for pepper. Or for eggplant.

So, we pour into a suitable container a thin layer of fresh garden soil.

Why do I need fresh land, I explain a little later...

so as not to be distracted now.

Of course, if the garden is far away...

you can take a little bit of land and from pots with indoor plants.

Then we put from above the water-moistened and slightly wrung out cloth.

To accidental movements and blows of air do not mix all the seeds in a heap.

Dampened cloth fidgets less, and the seeds on it hold more reliably.

We use not synthetic fabric, but for example, cotton, or linen

. Next, draw a diagram, especially if you need to test several types of seeds.

We write the date of the beginning of the check, and also where and what seeds will lie.

Specify the grade, and what year the seeds are.

The scheme is needed in order not to forget in a few days, and not to get confused...

where, and what seeds sprouted.

Then we look at the order in the chart, counting on 20 seeds of each kind...

and stack them in the same order in rows on a wet cloth.

The number of seeds can be different, not necessarily 20.

But, the more of them, the more accurate the result of the test for germination.

For convenience, we count the seeds with the tip of the knife on the surface of the table.

To lose less when counting, it is convenient to separate the seeds in pairs...

- 10 pairs are 20 seeds.

Then gently cover the seeds with a free half of the cloth...

so that the edge protrudes slightly over the side of the container.

So that later you could drop by...

and to check whether the seeds germinate or not.

Without digging! :-)

Then we pour a thin layer of earth on top of the fabric.

And pour water. So much so that the earth was wet enough, but without puddles.

If you pour too much water, do not drain the excess immediately.

We do this later, in 12 hours...

or even in a day, when the seeds absorb the desired volume of liquid.

For pouring we put the container under a slope into the sink...

and excess water gradually drains over the edge.

The edges of the fabric wrapped inside, otherwise under the capacity in a while you get a pool of water...

After all that has been done, we put on a plastic bag.

Lackily, so that the air can go in - To germinate the seeds, oxygen is needed.

And put the tank in a warm place. How warm is it?

We are guided by the germination temperature of the seeds.

For cabbage it is about 20 degrees Celsius.

For tomatoes - from 20 to 25.

For cucumbers - about 25.

For peppers and aubergine - from 20 to 30 degrees.

After a couple of days, start to open, and look at the seeds every day.

How long to wait for the seeds to germinate?

It depends on the culture of the plant, and on the lot of seeds.

From our experience - usually from 3 days to a maximum of a couple of weeks.

And when the seeds began to germinate, how many days to wait for the others to sprout?

If the temperature is sufficient, the seeds germinate quite amicably...

within 1-3 days, after the first of them begin to peck.

The rest do not have any sense to wait.

Since in practice, even if they sooner or later still rise...

The plants that have risen before will shade them and will not allow them to develop normally.

After the seeds sprouted: open, look at the diagram...

write down the date and how many seeds of each species sprouted.

How to use these figures?

For example, we plan to sow the seeds of aubergine on seedlings...

50 pieces for each meter of the series.

We make simple calculations.

If out of 20 seeds sprouted only 4, divide 20 by 4 and get 5.

Multiply 50 by 5. Total, you get 250 seeds per 1 meter row.

And now we know...

to get normal shoots, and not to bite then elbows...

We need to sow the aubergine seeds 5 times more than planned.

And now, as promised, I will explain why we take...

to test the emergence of fresh garden land.

The fact is that in such a land there are many necessary substances.

Including substances that stimulate the germination of seeds.

We conducted a comparative experiment...

which clearly shows the advantage of fresh land in front of the old.

Now we will show this with the eggplant example.

In the old land, which lay in a dry state...

in a plastic bag from 2 to 4 years...

For 16 days out of 20 seeds, only 4 seeds grew.

>> EUGENE: Soaked (seeds) on the second of March.

Check out the 18th of March.

Some seeds did not come up.

Others, 3 of 20 pieces.

4 of 20 pieces.

Zero.

Pepper rose, 17 of 20 pieces.

Vegetable germination is poor.

But, you can sow these.

Accordingly, with such a large margin.

It turns out that they need to sow 5 or 6 times more

>> TATIANA: In the fresh land taken from the garden in the day of the beginning of the experiment...

8 seeds out of 20 seeds sprouted 20 seeds.

That is, in fresh soil, there were 5 times more seeds than in the land of the old !!!

For reference, soaking seeds in tap water...

works even worse than in the old land.

In our experience, there is a case where the seeds of eggplant and pepper...

Do not sprout with soaking in water even for a month.

And in the fresh earth began to sprout massively after 3-4 days.

I would like to clarify that fresh land is not relevant for all seeds.

For example, radish, radish, peas, beans, and tomatoes...

properly germinate after soaking in plain water.

By the way, for lazy people, - check the seeds for germination...

it is possible and in a pot with a room flower.

But this is not always convenient, because the seeds need a fairly high temperature.

And, if the capacity with the ground can be put without problems, for example, on the cabinet...

where the air is warmer, then the flower, accustomed to the coolness at the window...

on the closet, where it's hot and little light

- hardly like it !!! :-)

That's all!
