Homographs Examples | English Word Stress Lesson - Duration: 6:01.
English Winners. Listen to these phrases I'll be present to present the present.
I'll be present to present the present. We project this project is heads above
everyone else's heads. We project this project is heads above everyone else's
heads. We train on the train. We train on the train. Do some of these phrases sound
confusing? It's no surprise. Sometimes, a word can be used in different places to
have a different meaning. The spelling is the same. The pronunciation is almost the
same. But the meaning is completely different!
These, English Winners, are homographs. So I'll explain some of the phrases I just
used: For instance, look at this phrase: 'I'll be present to present the present.'
The first use of present is an adjective. It means to be someplace on time. If I
... say... I'm calling attendance. "John," They might- John might say 'present,' right? That
means they're here. So, I'll be present to present. Notice the the stress: preSENT. I
said I'll be PREsent to preSENT. preSENT is a verb. It means 'to formally give
something to someone.' And then we have the present. 'I'll be present to present
the present.' That last use of 'present' is 'a gift usually, wrapped.' You see presents
a lot on Christmas, or White Day, or Valentine's Day, depending on where you
are in the world. So, that's three different times I use the word 'present,'
but they all have different meanings. These are homographs. Then: 'We project the
project is heads above everyone else's heads.' We have two sets of homographs in
here: The first one 'project.' So, we proJECT. ProJECT. This is a verb. It means, 'To... to
make a decision about the future. What do you
think will happen?' So, our projections, 'we project.' It's a
verb. So, 'we proJECT the PROject...' The PROject. A project is a noun. It's a
series of tasks that have a beginning and end, and at the end of them, you have
a thing. A building is a project. A piece of software technology is a project. Many
things are projects. So, 'we project - we think - that the project - something we're
making together - is heads above everyone else's heads.' Our second set of
homographs in this sentence, 'we project the project his heads above everyone
else's heads': 'heads above' is an idiom. It means 'far superior to something.' When you
have, say, two bands, and one band is heads above the other, that means they're way
better. And then we have 'above everyone else's heads.' When we say something is
above everyone else's heads, we mean that something is 'too difficult to understand.'
So, let's take this whole sentence together: 'We project the project will be
heads above everyone else's heads.' This means that we think the project we are
working on - the thing that we will produce together - will be far superior,
but too complex for most people to understand,' right? So, those are our two
sets of homographs used in one sentence. That's the hardest one, I promise! And
then we have one more: 'we train on the train.' The first use of train is 'to
improve your skill by practicing something repeatedly.' You might practice
- or train - in martial arts, or exercise, or doing math problems, right? It's training.
And then, 'we train on the train.' The last one, 'train,' is a noun. It's a car - often a
series of connected cars - that ride on a railway, right? So, 'we train on
the train.' Somebody is improving their skill on a locomotive car. Some
homographs have the same spelling and same pronunciation, but different
syllable stress, right? And so usually the nouns - if they're two syllable- will get
stressed on the first syllable. But the verbs will get stressed on the second
syllable. I will throw up some examples on the key note, and you will learn.
Noun: PROject. Verb: proJECT. Noun: PREsent. Verb: preSENT.
Noun: ADdress. Verb: AdDRESS. Noun: ADdict. Verb: adDICT. So, those are some homographs. So you learn a little bit
more about them. If you liked this video, please LIKE. SHARE, and SUBSCRIBE. It will
help make EnglishWin a bigger, more successful channel, and it will mean a
lot to me. Thank you. I have included a link to my pronunciation playlist, and
one more video I think you'll like. So, I will see you over on those lessons. Keep
winning, English Winners.

Leslie Odom, Jr 's $500,000 Gamble That Led To "Hamilton" - Duration: 3:41.
- The willingness to fail led me to
some of my greatest successes.
(upbeat piano music and syncopated clapping)
I was really tired of the rollercoaster.
I wanted off and I was looking to transition
into another career and Stewart said you can do that
but I'd love to see you try first.
I'd love to see you try before you quit.
And this is after 12 years in the business already.
And I looked at him like he was crazy.
He said, I think you're sitting at home on your couch
waiting for the phone to ring.
The phone didn't ring.
So what did you do today?
You have no control over the incoming call.
You have no control over the opportunities that will
come to you but you have all the control over how you
spend your day and what you put your energy toward.
More often than not, what I've found in my particular path
is it really was just the willingness to fail.
Willingness to fail didn't actually lead to failure.
In some way, it led to these moments of real change when,
oh that's, I thought the limit of my ability was right here
but it's actually, it's a lot farther.
I didn't realize that the ceiling was so high.
You don't find that out until you're willing to
fall on your face trying to tap it.
What I saw on that last row at Vassar was something daring
and fresh, you know, the first eight bars of that show
is like some of the best writing for the theater ever.
And that was just the first song.
The fact that it kept topping itself, that it sustained that
level of excellence was astonishing.
Three, four months later I got an email from Lin.
And he's getting a group of people together
to read through it and because I'd seen it,
you know I thought I had such a leg up, only in that
I knew what a wonderful opportunity he was offering me.
What seems obvious now, the show's so ubiquitous
and it's having such a wonderful life, it can seem like,
oh that it was a given that it was gonna be successful
but all of us, we were turning down work
and making ourselves available for this off-Broadway
hip-hop musical about the Founding Fathers,
people were lookin' at us like we were crazy.
People were lookin' at us like we were out of our minds.
We happily did it because we believed in it.
The biggest highlight was the White House, for sure.
With that President and that First Lady,
it meant so much to me and to my castmates.
(singing from Hamilton)
To have 40 minutes of his, their undivided attention
is a chance to change the world because we might
do something today that lodges somewhere in his heart,
her heart, the back of their mind.
They might see something today, we might touch them in a way
today that affects how they make a decision tomorrow.
In this business that is like the highest honor
and the greatest platform I've ever felt
that we've had to make a difference.
The thing that I learned the most from that was
from that whole Hamilton experience
was the importance of the willingness to risk.
I walked away from a television show and guaranteed contract
for half a million dollars and people thought I was nuts
and maybe I was, maybe I was a little crazy but the bigger
the risk, sometimes, a lot of times, the bigger the reward.
(upbeat music)

Put him down! No. No, no, no, no.
Here she go. Look at her, walking all strong with pigtails.

Yo, Meg! M-tron!
Stop playing. Come on. Am I the only one in here?

Top 5 Reasons to Buy an iPhone 6s Plus in 2018 - Duration: 4:16.
Hey, welcome back to the channel. Today I'm going to tell you the
top 5 reasons
to buy an iPhone 6s Plus in 2018. So here we go...
So like I said, this is going to be just
going to be a quick top 5. I'm going to be putting up a video in a
few days of a deeper dive into using this in 2018
with more detailed information. If that sounds of interest
go ahead and hit that Subscribe button and the
notification bell next to it, so you get notified when I put that video up.
So the iPhone 6s Plus was Apple's flagship phone
back in 2015 and it still has pretty reasonable specs today.
It's got a 5.5" Retina HD display,
that's an IPS display. It's got a 64 bit
A9 processor, with the embeded M9 Motion Coprocessor
and 2GB RAM.
So in 2018 when we have flagship phones, on the Android side
Like the Galaxy S9, and on the Apple side
Like the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. Why would you buy
an iPhone 6s Plus in 2018 when it's
a 3 year old phone now?
Here are the top 5 reasons why you might want to consider one.
Alright, now first up is the price. If you buy this directly from
Apple, for the 32GB version, you're going to be paying
$550 US and the 128GB
version is $650. Not worth it, in my opinion.
You definitely want to go used or
refurbished on this one.
If you look in the right places
Online or on Craigslist, you can get a used one for about
$200 - $400 in really good condition and with a brand new
iPhone X costing over $1,000
is what you get with the iPhone 10 really
that much better than what you get on this 6s Plus?
That's for you to decide, I'm going to show some of the other reasons
why you might want to consider it over an iPhone X.
Reason number 2 is that infamous headphone jack.
Now this is a big area of debate, a lot of people say that they use
Bluetooth only and it doesn't matter. Most of my headsets are Bluetooth,
but it is nice having that headphone jack for when
your Bluetooth headset isn't charged, or you want to hook it up
to a stereo system, or you're in a car that has
an AUX jack, but no Bluetooth, you can just use
that 3.5mm and a cable, hook right
in and you're good to go.
So it is a nice thing to have and I gotta' say
I use it pretty frequently
Reason number 3 is the photos and videos.
This thing still takes phenomenal
video and still shots, it shoots up to 4K
at 30FPS for the video, you can also
do slow motion at 1080p at 120FPS
or 720P at 240FPS
The pictures and the video
look great! It has excellent low light
performance, beautiful daytime performance, HDR
all the bells and whistles you could want, in my opinion
It's really not that much worse, at least not for
$600 - $700 worse than an iPhone X
Reason number 4 is Apps and Games
still run phenomenally well on this.
I've yet to find anything, even
recent things, like PUBG, that don't run great.
Every game I've thrown at it works fine,
I've never found an app that wasn't compatible with
this phone and that's because the current version
of iOS, which is 11.3 at the time of this video,
still works flawlessly on this
phone and it's fully supported, so
apps and games, not an issue
Reason number 5, and the final reason, is the tons and tons of
accessories and screen protectors and
cases and wraps and everything that are available for this phone.
You can get lenses for the phone to add
another step to your photography and video.
I got a really nice case that lets you add wireless
charging to the phone, it adds very little bulk to the phone but lets you
charge it on a Qi charging pad.
There's all kinds of wraps that completely change the look of
your phone and accessories for just about
everything you can think of.
So hopefully these 5 reasons will help you make a decision whether you want to go for something like
an iPhone 8 or iPhone X, or something cheaper like the iPhon 6s Plus
That you can get for a fraction of the cost
and still has a good deal of the functionality and still works great
Thanks for watching the video.
Hopefully you enjoyed it and come see me on Twitter, Instagram
and Facebook. I love meeting new people and chatting with them
and I'll see you in the next video!

Rhabdomyosarcoma Diagnosis + Treatment (Stage 4) | Maddy's Cancer Story - Duration: 17:02.
Hey everyone. So I've got Maddy with me today and we're
going to be talking about having cancer and having cancer as a young person but before
we get into the cancer stuff I thought it'd be nice to just list three things that
we love. Three things that I love and then three things that you love. Just to start off the video a little bit more
lighthearted and also to give you a chance to
get to know Maddy a little bit since it's you know
a short video. To start us off: I love chocolate,
I love playing Dungeons & Dragons and I also love those dogspotting type of Facebook groups
where everyone just posts amazing
photos of their dogs and it's super cute. And it makes Facebook a lot more bearable when I just have really cute puppies
all over my feed. Yeah. Awesome.
And you? I like music, I love going op-shopping
and I like going to festivals. Festivals, yes.
So what cancer were you diagnosed? I was diagnosed with
stage-4 rhabdomyosarcoma cancer
A bit of a mouthful. Yeah and what does the sarcoma represent?
So it's in a - there's a type of cancer that's like it's a sarcoma family, so there's like, also osteosarcoma
and
I'm not too actually educated on the sarcoma family. Just mainly on mine. But it's in
the childhood cancer mainly that's where sarcomas are.
Hmm..
And where does it start? Like I know for me, having Hodgkin's lymphoma,
the lymphoma starts in the lymph nodes. Do you know where sarcomas start?
Uhm sarcomas can start pretty much anywhere within the body so
it can start... well mine started in my pelvis in a just a free space within my pelvis.
So it was growing in there. It can also attach onto limbs, onto bones.
And also into like your lymph nodes all around here. And also in your face and sometimes even in your brain.
So it can go anywhere. That's awful. Yes.
And how old were you when you got diagnosed?
I was 17 and I was three months out from my 18th birthday.
So I had just graduated from high school two weeks before I was diagnosed. I graduated from high school yeah.
And what treatment did they prescribe you? What did you have to go through?
I was to immediately to undergo very intensive treatment.
My doctor was very keen to get me started immediately as I was only getting three months to live at the time as it was almost terminal.
Uhm... I pretty much started that same week that I was diagnosed.
With one of the most, probably the most heaviest, chemo therapies that are out there
to have pretty much non-stop for 12 months and only have maybe an odd two week or one-week break in between them.
And then go on to do radiation as well. So...
And was that every week? Did you get a dose of it or is it every day? How does it work in terms of doses?
So I had... It worked in more six week kind of intervals. So I would have different chemos each week for six weeks.
One week would be... I would be in hospital for four days and then the next would I would come in for
a day in the day unit and have the one that goes intravenously obviously.
And that would happen throughout the course of the day or there would also
be a two day one. And then I'd have a week break after the six weeks and then do it all over again.
And you had to be inpatient? You had to be at the hospital all times?
Yeah. All the time there. There was no home chemotherapy or anything.
Yeah. It all had to be done in hospital.
That's really hard. I guess I was lucky in that sense that while I had to have the chemo at the hospital I was able to
go back home. That's good. Yeah to be able to recover in your room and you know
be in those kinds of familiar spaces.
So that was 12 months and radiation was an additional...?
So radiation was in the 12 months but I was also having chemotherapy at the time of radiation.
So I had radiation for six weeks. And that was at the six-month mark so it was about halfway through my treatment.
Where they could get better understanding of how much I guess the tumor had shrunk by then.
And the area of where the mass was I guess. And how did you find out... that something
wasn't quite right? How did the doctors diagnose you? What symptoms did you have leading up to it?
My cancer actually pushed out of my skin. The mass pushing out of
my lower part of my pelvis. Probably I guess you can say my bikini line as well.
Uhm it was hard like a rock and I deteriorated so quickly in the space of probably two to four weeks.
Uhm where I couldn't even walk up you know one flight of stairs. I was...
collapsing and head spins and sleeping probably like 15 hours a day.
It's definitely not normal.
No and in such a short period of time too. Like I know for some people it can be a very long time not quite knowing
what's happening. But that seems yeah very intense and in a short period.
Yeah I had no idea that that was happening. They're very fast growing, that's another thing, sarcomas are really fast growing so
Uhm they think that it was there for about 12 months or 6 to 12 months. I guess hiding and then
it just one day grew and grew and grew very rapidly. So like in the 2 to 4 weeks it grew about i think it was about 3 centimeters.
Yeah. Which made a massive difference.
So it was kind of like dormant a little bit and then it just goes a bit crazy. Yep yep.
It was beginning... It was slowly going to attack both my cervix, my left thigh
my bowel, my bladder. I also lost control of my bladder and my bowels. So that was a big one. That sucks. Yeah.
And when this was happening were you able to get on to treatment pretty quickly? Like were you able to
go to the doctor, the doctor be able to do a quick test and you're kind of on your way to treatment or was it
a difficult process with the doctors? Because I know sometimes getting diagnoses can
be even hard when people know that something's not right and the doctors are listening.
Well because the mass was pushing out of my body they were
so quick. So when I first initially went into the hospital. I think within the hour of the doctor seeing me it was like straight into about four or five scans. Bang bang after each other.
And then it wasn't until the next day that they had told me yes you have cancer but
we're not sure. They originally thought it was lymphoma.
But rhabdomyosarcoma affects about 20 people a year here in Australia. So that was probably the last thing on their mind.
But yeah it came back with rhabdo. And it was...
It was pretty difficult i think because I originally was diagnosed at Randwick children's hospital and I live on the central coast.
So I'm kind of in-between Randwick Children's Sydney hospital and Newcastle John Hunter and
it would have been easier for both myself and my family to access John Hunter hospital's facilities and the doctors up there.
So we worked out something with Randwick and they were really good to us and sent us up to John Hunter.
To the oncology children's ward there.
And God I think within the week it was all good. I'm really glad to hear that they were so fast to turn around and get you the treatment that you obviously needed.
As soon as possible. It's just a shame that sometimes yeah it can
be kind of complicated for some people. So I'm glad at least for you that it was quick.
They got onto it. They were serious about it from the get-go. Yeah.
So is treatment finished now? Are you cancer free at the moment? Yes! Yay!
I've been cancer-free for about... I actually got scans coming up at the end of March. So it will be the 16th.
The 16th month mark since my last dose of treatment. That's amazing. Yeah and your hair is growing back.
Yes slowly but surely.
It was a bit perm-y at one stage. I i had bit of a perm happening as my hair was going straight up from the chemo.
The last time we saw the each other your hair was more like the crown.
Like it was a crown around. It was very beautiful but it was definitely very out.
It wasn't dropping anytime soon.
No, but now it's kind of dropped a bit more. Yeah it's a different look. You're evolving your looks.
Well I'm really really glad to hear that you've been cancer-free for that period of time and with your checkups...
Uhm are they on a certain interval like monthly or how do they work?
I had three month interval for the first 12 months after treatment finished and now it's gone to four month.
But he wants to keep it at four months for probably the next two years.
As my cancer has a very high relapse rate and that relapse rate also
means most likely terminal. So um my doctor's very like...
I want to get on to it. I'm not letting you go anytime soon. Yeah. I'm glad.
Yeah, it will be the three year mark until I get to six months and then
Not until five years, I'll probably do yearly checkups.
Yeah, I know for a least Hodgkin's Lymphoma, it's
once every three months. That's meant to be I think for the first two years.
And then it becomes every six months and then after that it's up to you...
But, and everyone's really different with it, but I can't see myself not wanting to do it at least yearly after that.
Yeah. Like I know the risk is quite small once you've reached
that point. But even so I don't... I don't know.
I think I would just want to go every myear for my
own peace of mind. I can't imagine not going at all. And suppressing that doubt.
Yeah...
To me that just seems too scary. I'd rather just go in and go for that inconvenience and you know it is
anxiety-inducing. Like leading up to it and all that but there's something really nice in like leaving that appointment
and being like, "Nope it's all good. There's no reason to worry."
I think that would be important for me to keep that up after. Even if the doctors are like, "You know you
it's okay, you don't have to have to come in anymore."
And with your checkups that you have are they blood tests? Are they
X-rays or what kind of test do they do?
I have mainly MRI scans and CT scans and also blood tests as well here and there. But
mainly just MRI and CT scans. So a bit more involved.
MRIs... I'm a bit of a claustraphobic so I have a lot of
anxiety when it comes to the MRI scans. And laying there I think for such a long amount of time it's just
no. No. So what was one of the harder things that you had to deal with in treatment and how
did you manage it? Or how did you get through that difficult part?
Um I would say radiation was...
the most horrific part of
my treatment and it only went from six weeks. I didn't even make it actually to the six week point of
the amount of treatment I supposed to have. As it was just too horrific
I had radiation to my pelvis so it is
possibly one of the most horrible parts of your body to ever get radiation put at, especially as I guess a woman.
You know like everything is down there and you know, all your main organs I guess sit in that area as well.
So yeah I had third-degree burns...
around all that area at the time and I was sleeping
probably 20 hours a day. So dosed up on like
oxycontin which is the highest of highs of painkillers that knock you out for hours and hours.
So that definitely helped.
Just being dosed up? Just being dosed up and I found a lot of...
Like I found at the time sleeping was I guess my only way out?
It's bit sad I guess to think of it now. Like as I say it but
I think I had a strong family behind
me. And my mom was always encouraging me to keep going you know this is the difference between a cure and relapse and
I think that was in my mindset at the time. I want to make a cure. I don't want to relapse of course.
Yeah, so I think I got to the fifth week mark and I
pretty much pulled out entirely from the radiation but at the time my doctor
was quite happy anyway that I got to that point. So it was good but I think
Yeah... my main
way I think dealing with it was just believing in the power of my mind. And
whether religious or not I believe in god and the universe. So I definitely would tap into that and ask for help.
Personally I found a lot of, you know, help through that as well.
Yes so that was probably one of most horrific parts.
And then the second thing would be I guess getting towards the end of the treatment you are so physically weak and physically exhausted and...
emotionally drained. I think you know your head... So I guess I stayed strong and a lot of people would
stay strong for so long that you get to a point where it's like I can't do this anymore. Like how
do I continue on. This is just...
this has gone on way too long.
But I think having that finish line kept me going. I feel like having the finish line
is what a lot of people hold on to. Having it in sight.
It can be very hard
when you're in the midst of treatment and for a lot of people it's really heavy from the get-go
And so sometimes being in the middle it's yeah of course like
the physical pain or the physical
side effects but a lot of it's just like "I don't want to do this anymore". It is that mental drain and exhaustion. Yep
and I think
seeing
the light within the dark.
I always tried to
just look ahead. Don't look back. And I
think at the time I lived in the future as well.
That was my way of dealing with it and what am I gonna do after this?
This is what I'm going to do. And wow. I'm going to be so proud of myself and I think that's what definitely kept me going as well.
Yeah imaging yourself after it all. The life after.
So do you know if there are like research trials going on? Were you part of a research trial as part of it since it doesn't affect many people?
Yeah, I pretty much was a dummy for my doctor.
As he travelled a lot and he would go around the world and he told me himself that he actually used
how I was going in a lot of conferences and would share my treatment protocol with other doctors.
And yeah I was pretty honored when I came to the end of it that he
was like your protocol will most likely be used around the world for children
who face rhabdomyosarcoma.
Because you beat it. And I was like... That's amazing. That's very beautiful. Next level awesome.
There isn't much out there. You search it up and it's pretty dim and grim online. It's a
no hope kind of cancer and you have two months to live if you get the cancer but you know. There's always
stories and positive stuff out there.
Yeah! For example you so far has been amazing. Yeah and I hope that the research continues to definitely grow
as it is definitely a big hole I think within the cancer society.
Within childhood cancer as well a lot more research needs to be done as
majority of my chemos and the protocols that he was looking at were from still like around the eighties or nineties.
So it's been very long time.
Definitely need to get into that. Yeah I'm very honored to be part of it. So I think I'll end the video there. Thank you so
much Maddy for coming along and talking about your diagnosis and treatment experience.
And i'll see you guys in the next video okay. Bye!

Upcoming Game Sequels You Didn't Know Were Being Made - Duration: 8:40.
Some video game sequels hog all the hype.
For instance: You'd be hard-pressed to find many gamers who don't know The Last Of Us
Part II is on its way.
"I'm gonna find, and I'm gonna kill, every last one of 'em."
Or, that we're getting Kingdom Hearts III … well, eventually.
But some sequels fly a little more under the radar, and deserve more recognition than they're
getting.
Here are some upcoming sequels to games you might've thought had already finished telling
their story.
Psychonauts read fans' minds
In 2005, Double Fine Productions gave us Psychonauts, the story of a psychic named Raz who can enter
people's minds and destroy whatever evil's causing trouble in there.
"My name ... "
" … starts with a D … "
" … is Razputin."
"Grr."
At the time, the game flopped, selling under 100,000 copies by the end of 2005.
In the years since, it's gained a cult following and sold over 1.7 million copies.
It's about time we get a sequel then.
In 2015, Double Fine announced a Fig campaign to fund Psychonauts 2.
Once the campaign closed in January 2016, Double Fine had raised $3.86 million, and
development got the green light.
Unfortunately, they've since run into several red lights, bumping their original release
date of "somewhere in 2018" to "somewhere in 2019."
As project lead Zak McClendon explained in a video update,
"But the good news is, you know, we wanna give it time to make it something that we
love and the fans love and sort of continues the legacy of Psychonauts 1 in a real meaningful,
special way."
Double Fine clearly doesn't want Psychonauts 2 to become another crowdfunded glitch-fest
a la Mighty #9, and neither do the game's loyal fans.
Wasteland 3 wants you to chill
The post-apocalyptic Wasteland series began in 1988, but it didn't see a true sequel until
2014.
Wasteland 2 proved highly successful — according to inXile head Brian Fargo, it earned the
studio $12 million.
Now, the story's set to continue with Wasteland 3, which snagged over $3 million from diehard
fans who contributed to the game's Fig campaign.
Based on the only gameplay trailer we've seen, it looks like fans will be in for a treat.
Abandoning the desert for the snowy tundras of Colorado, Wasteland 3 sees the last surviving
Desert Ranger and their party facing all sorts of monsters — not to mention less-than-peachy
humans who might as well be mutated beasts.
"Oh just a taste.
A nibble here and a nibble there.
In fact, I'm still hungry."
Unlike previous entries in the series, the third installment will feature a multiplayer
mode.
But given that every choice you make in Wasteland influences the game's overall world, making
a decision without your co-player's input could mean royally screwing up their campaign.
In 2019, you'll get to decide for yourself if that's a risk you're willing to take.
Bayonetta will put a spell on you
While the original Bayonetta sold like hot cakes, its sequel was released exclusively
for the ill-fated Wii U.
As a result — despite positive critical reception — the game made far less of an
impact at retail.
Even hardcore fans would be forgiven for thinking the series was dead.
"We've got, uhh — we've got one more thing."
And yet, during the 2017 Game Awards, Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aimé announced
Bayonetta 3 with a short teaser.
Interestingly, like its predecessor, Bayonetta 3 will be exclusive to Nintendo — specifically,
it's being developed for the Switch.
Only time will tell if console exclusivity will create yet another hairy situation for
the franchise's sales.
Nintendo also announced the two previous Bayonetta games are being ported to the Switch, which
could help the franchise twofold.
For one thing, long-time fans will get everything they love on one convenient console while
new fans will get a chance to immerse themselves in the quirky series.
It's about time that everyone's favorite sassy Umbra Witch becomes the icon she deserves
to be.
"As long as there's music, I'll keep on dancing."
Guacamelee! gets a rematch
Most "Metroidvania" games are dark and brooding, just like their two namesakes.
Guacamelee! was a welcome exception to the rule — a bright and colorful adventure based
on Mexican culture and folklore.
You play as a regular farmer killed by evil forces who becomes a superpowered Lucha Libre
wrestler in the afterlife.
Ok, so maybe it's not entirely free of some of the genre's tropes.
In October 2017, Sony announced Guacamelee!
2 for the PlayStation 4.
Based on its trailer, the sequel looks like it'll expand on the action-packed gameplay
that made Guacamelee! so much fun.
Plus, it appears as though developer Drinkbox Studios created a four-player mode this time
around, which makes sense since Mexican wrestling without tag teams is like a summer day without
sunshine.
Sadly, there's no release date yet other than "coming soon-ish."
On the bright side, that does give gamers plenty of time to save up enough pesos for
this must-play platformer.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 is beyond late
When the original Beyond Good & Evil hit shelves in 2003, it wasn't exactly a commercial success.
Maybe that's why it took Ubisoft a soul-crushing 14 years to finally release a trailer for
its upcoming sequel.
But a fair warning to fans hoping to leap back into the shoes of protagonist Jade: This
isn't exactly what you were expecting.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 was originally announced in 2008, and Ubisoft clearly saw no need to
rush — they also saw no need to make a traditional sequel.
Instead, they opted to develop a prequel that they'd hoped anyone can play regardless of
their knowledge of the original game.
Well, judging from Beyond Good & Evil 2's cinematic trailer, which resembles something
between an expletive-laden crime thriller and an open-world RPG, this sequel is a dramatic
shift in tone from its predecessor.
In fact, it almost looks like an entirely new IP altogether.
"Bang, bang, motherf---ers!"
Considering director Michel Ancel's claim that the game is in "day zero of development,"
it's probably going to be awhile before Beyond Good & Evil 2 graces our consoles.
But we've been patient this long — what's another year or two?
Life is still hella strange
An original story about a teenage time traveler named Max and her doomed BFF Chloe, Life is
Strange was an unexpected hit when its first episode dropped in January 2015.
The gamble paid off, as the game's five episodes sold a combined three million copies — so
it would've been strange indeed if nobody made a sequel.
Well, it turns out developer Dontnod Entertainment is doing just that with a currently unnamed
sequel to Life is Strange, announced in May 2017.
"So what we can share today is the fact that we've been working since the release of the
box version last year on a new Life is Strange game with the Life is Strange team, and we
cannot wait to share more about this with you."
We don't know a lot about the game yet, but it'll most likely star an entirely new cast
of characters.
In an interview with IBTimes, its directors said that,
"A second season would work but the story of Max and Chloe is told, their character
arcs are closed.
[…] Max reached the end of her coming-of-age story, now she has grown up."
That interview was published in December 2015, so the team might've changed their minds since.
But even if we don't return to Arcadia Bay for a second season, one thing's for sure:
The bittersweet tale of Max and Chloe may have come to a close, but players will never
forget what they taught us about loyalty, consequences, and the enduring power of friendship.
"My powers might not last, Chloe."
"That's OK.
We will."
Metro Exodus leaves Moscow behind
The Metro series marches on with the upcoming Metro Exodus taking players outside Moscow
and into the rest of the ravaged country.
Call it a hunch, but we're guessing quality of life's pretty crappy out there too.
Following 2013's Last Light, Exodus finds the game's hero desperate to find life outside
of his metro station.
This will take him to various locales with regular temperature-and-weather changes, depending
on where and when you visit.
As for the plot, we don't currently know much more than "monsters want to kill you again."
But during an E3 2017 interview with Gamespot, producer John Bloch suggested that Exodus
would blend the series' traditional linear environments with larger, non-linear areas.
That way, you can tackle the game's main objectives however you want — or completely ignore
them in favor of exploring the beautifully decimated wasteland.
The trailer simply says Exodus will be out in fall of 2018, just in time for the holidays.
What better gift for Santa to leave under the tree for good little boys and girls than
a violent tale of war, death, isolation, and a seemingly endless nuclear winter?
"Ho, ho, ho.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!"

Adding t-track clamps to our CNC | X-Carve upgrade | How to - Duration: 12:04.
Hey guys!
We're Evan and Katelyn and today we're going to be upgrading our x-carve!
We added a t-track clamping system which is awesome because it allows us to setup jigs
more easily and we can clamp smaller objects with less stock because it clamps from the
sides, not from the top.
And thanks to chromebook for sponsoring this video!
So there were three things we had to keep in mind when choosing where to put our t-tracks.
One is we didn't want to hit any of the threaded inserts that are embedded in the wasteboard.
Two: we had to have room for the feet of the clamp to actually be able to be inserted into
t-tracks.
And three: we had to make sure we had enough clearance to not hit the rails.
We're visual planners so we downloaded a photo of the x-carve on the chromebook to sketch
ideas over.
What's going to be the most optimal placement?
So instead of having t-track everywhere, we can reduce the amount of t-track, reduce the
amount of clamps by only clamping in this direction and this direction.
T-track running here and here and this is a movable L?
Yeah, and that will hold one corner, and this will hold the two other faces.
There you go.
Looks really comfortable.
This is how I do things normally!
So this is the final layout of the t-track.
It hits all of the points we mentioned earlier.
We have enough space here to insert the feet.
We're going to cut it a little bit short here so we have place for the feet.
We are away from the brass inserts.
We have room for the feet, and we have room for the clamps.
Alright, so the foot is about 0.8 inches so lets maybe give ourselves 0.9 would be fine.
So we're going to start right here and we're going to go ahead and remove this... keep
this going right here.
You're sharpieing faster than I can pan!
Weeehooo!
And this part right here, we're going to leave empty for the foot to go in.
(Singing in beautiful voices) Measurements, measurements, does whatever a measurements
do.
We measured our t-tracks and wasteboard to program the cuts.
We'll link to our files below which include everything if you want to do this for your
CNC or use it for reference.
Are we ready to make da cuts?
I'm ready to make da file!
Ready to make da file!
File da lasers!!
File daa lasers!!
Now that I have my measurements, I'll just go ahead and put in 28.75.
Done.
Boom.
So best practice is, before you run anything, make sure that your gantry is square, and
for this we want to be extra sure.
Ok.
We even?
They're the same!
Yeah!
Go on, go on, stop!
So we're going to do an air run to make sure that this will be cutting where we want it
to cut before we actually cut into the wasteboard.
Looking straight now.
Yeah looks straight.
Yeah like just proud of the line on the left.
Measure the material.
Confirm home position.
Raise the bit.
Spindle is on.
So everything was running well - hahaha - and I started noticing that there was a strange
sound coming from this first y motor.
It was struggling to move and things were getting a little bit off so I went ahead and
stopped it, and I noticed the cable became unplugged.
I fixed it, everything looks good, now we're gonna recenter it and run it again.
One thing you may have noticed is that we added this extra wood here because since we
were cutting so close to the edge the dust collection shoe was overhanging and it wasn't
getting full suction so we added this and it worked really really good but for now come
on over and let's do a test fit on how well these fit in here.
Ok.
Ready?
Nope!
Ready?
Nope!
Ok yes.
Oh!
Now I can't see it.
Yeah nope nope nope.
Yeah nope.
Yeah!
Sweet!
So even with our little whoopsy, still fits well.
Alright.
Ready?
Recording.
That is so satisfying to watch.
Very nice.
So... we need to make our other piece.
We need to make our other piece.
Next we're gonna make the other part of this project which is the L that our clamps can
push against to keep that right angle secure.
Does that make sense?
Yeah!
So Evan's measuring what size we need that L to be.
Good to go.
Show the camera.
Ohhhh.
I think that L is too small.
Well we can use that L to make a bigger L. I told Evan I didn't wanna use these clamps
yet.
'Cause this isn't the final- how are we supposed to have a final reveal if we're using them
mid-project?
We're using the clamps to make the clamps that will be the clamp that we use.
Well they work well.
We can make a single one and then we can make a double one from this same stock.
While the x-carve works, let's talk about how we like to use the Chromebook.
It's like a cross between a laptop and a tablet and our favorite part is how we can use it
to sketch ideas and take notes.
We have a tendency to lose notebooks and paper scraps in the shop and I guess we could probably
manage to lose the Chromebook here too but it'd be a lot harder.
Plus Evan feels cool using a device with a flip screen and I feel cool because I can
draw straighter lines with the stylus than him.
My lines are much straighter than yours.
So one reason for making the bigger corner bracket is because we wanted something beefier,
but also we decided to make it with plywood so it would be harder to break.
I feel like this guy you could just.
Grrrrr.
So if you notice the one that broke, it broke in the direction of the grain.
Yeah.
But since this has no grain it is strong in all directions so.
I would try it but... just in case.
While we cut out this big support we also wanted to give a shoutout to our Patreons
for all of their big support haha.
Thank you!
Wanna scooch it?
Scooch it.
Perfect.
Look s good!
You wanna hold it up to me?
Yes.
Hug!
They're spooning.
If we need to we can always make a big one.
Like a big big.
Like a 4 or like a 7 or a 12.
The possibilities... are literally endless!
Well not literally, there's only so many uh threaded holes across here but literally almost
literally endless!
And we can add more clamps too if we want.
We can add like five, six clamps on each side if we were cutting something really big.
Should we cut some things?
Let's cut some things.
Maybe some of those hex ring dish holder things?
Yes.
So we can sell them and make... millions.
Or tens...
Let's make tens of dollars!
Haha!
One two three.
So, this process of setting the home you see us doing before each cut - Now that we can
easily set up jigs, we don't have to home it each time if we're doing multiples of the
same piece, which is cool.
Ok.
Dust?
Dust.
Spindle?
Spindle.
Ready?
Bread.
Alright so we were going to cut three of these with the same jig, but this clamp was positioned
a little bit too close to the work piece and we were worried that this was gonna hit it.
So we went ahead and removed it but this still held it really good which is really impressive
and makes us feel good about our setup, but what we'd recommend doing is spacing your
work a little bit farther away and if you need to you can put another spacer board like
these to help you space it.
If the bit hits anything, it'll hit the sacrificial piece of wood instead.
So we're gonna reposition this guy so that we don't risk hitting the clamp anymore.
Think it'll be just wide enough.
Looks good.
It's time.
Now that this jig is set up, we can pop in a new piece of stock without having to home
the machine.
Oooo perfect again.
As it should be.
Because it's a nice jig.
Wooo!
Clamping jig success! oh my gosh oh it's so awesome aw yeah!
Thank you guys for watching, hope you liked this video and let us know in the comments
if you have any suggestions on how we could take this clamping system even further.
And we read all the comments and we really try to reply to every single one so hope to
see you down there.
Haha!
And if you wanna see more about this and get some behind the scenes we're gonna be talking
about that soon in our aftershow which we publish on patreon dot com slash evan and
katelyn.
Hope to see you there, bye!
That was pretty good!
Hah I love this angle.
It's the most flattering angle.
Is that comfortable?
It's it's so comfortable.
Hahaha time to program!
Time to program!
