Battle for Azeroth – Island Expeditions – Developer Insights - Duration: 6:09.

Hi everybody, my name is Jeremy Feasel.

I am a game designer

working on the Island Expeditions feature

for Battle for Azeroth,

and with me today is my producer.

Yes, hello, my name is Daniel Stahl,

and I am working with Jeremy

on this wonderful feature,

that I have to say, I am really in love with.

Yeah, we're super excited to be able to talk to you today

about the Island Expeditions feature.

This is the first time we've talked about it since BlizzCon,

and we've got some interesting stuff to chat about.

Yeah.

So, at its core, your goal on an island expedition

is to show up and gain Azerite.

This is this powerful substance, the blood of the planet,

that empowers your Heart of Azeroth,

but is also being used by both the Alliance and the Horde

as a weapon of war.

Players are going to gain Azerite from a variety of different sources.

Everything from Azerite crystals of all different sizes

growing up all over the place,

to treasure chests, where the denizens of the island

have gathered up some of it for themselves.

You might fight powerful rare spawns, rare elite chieftains

of whatever the island's inhabitants happen to be.

That's one of the things that we were really trying to capture

with Island Exhibitions was this feeling

that you're exploring this unchartered land.

that we're not just going to put all the sources of Azerite

on your map from the start.

In fact, you'll be limited in what you can see

based on yourself and your party members' visibility,

so you have to explore your way across the landscape a little bit.

To me, that's what makes it feel like an expedition,

because I'm not looking at my objective tracker saying,

"OK, let's do this, this, this".

We have to talk. We have to decide as a team

what's the right strategy for us.

And another one of those layers

that I think helps make this a fun adventure

is that unlike a lot of the spawning in WoW,

nothing on Islands is static.

You might spawn up at a location

and sometimes there's a Hozen fisherman there,

and sometimes it's a giant clam,

and sometimes it's a quest giver

trapped in a cage, that needs a key.

We have these hundreds of locations all across the landscape,

and tons of different things can show up there,

ensuring it's a completely different adventure

every time that you go there.

While you're on this expedition,

you're going to be looking for sources of Azerite,

but then an events going to occur.

Yeah, you might be travelling up a hill to get a chunk of Azerite,

and then all of a sudden, the ground shakes underneath you,

and Azerite springs up from a separate location on the island,

where it wasn't there before.

Suddenly, you have to make a decision about whether

you're going to run back and grab the Azerite

or keep going in the same direction you are.

You're not the only ones that are after this Azerite.

It's not just Horde and Alliance that are trying to get this stuff.

There's others, right?

Yeah, tons of groups of creatures all across Azeroth are after this stuff.

I mean really, whoever has the most of it is going to have the most power.

So you're going to find everything,

from the Naga to elemental lords,

will show all you start gathering Azerite on the island

and try and take it from you.

And you know, Daniel, you're not alone on the island.

It's not just the Alliance there.

There are Horde forces there as well.

That's right.

Depending on the faction you're playing.

I'm playing the Horde,

and I look out and there's another ship of the other faction,

and... these aren't players.

They're something different and new.

So this is a new group of creatures, that we're calling advanced NPCs.

They have more abilities than you might be expecting

from a creature in World of Warcraft.

They have intricate knowledge

of how to play through this gameplay space.

-Oh, do they! -They can play the island,

just like a player can,

and will give you a run for your money

in terms of trying to get the Azerite.

You know, the team has been having a lot of fun making these enemy champions.

The first thing I do, when I roll up to an island,

is I get off the boat,

and I immediately want to know who am I facing.

Absolutely.

We've been having fun from a couple of different perspectives,

and one of them is just making interesting members

of the opposing faction to fight.

If you're a Horde character, it's a lot of fun to fight

a really wacky group of mechanized gnome characters.

If you're an Alliance player, of course you expect to fight

a Headhunter Darkspear troll,

that really encapsulates what it means to be a Darkspear member of the Horde.

But, in addition, our AI NPCs also have different tactical layers.

So, one particular group of the enemies

might play the island by getting a little bit more in your face

and trying to find the Azerite from you, as a very aggressive group.

While another group might be more defensive

and prefer to avoid the player

and try to take the Azerite out from under you

in areas that you're not going to.

So sneaky!

We have this wide variety of different abilities

to give the AI tactical knowledge of the island,

and that means that they're also very unpredictable.

You're never sure which group you're going to be facing off against

and what tactic they're going to take to try and win today.

We're planning on having 4 different difficulties:

Normal, heroic and mythic, of course, but also a separate PvP difficulty

where you can race against 3 flesh and bones members

of the opposing faction

to see who can get the Azerite first.

I've been jumping into Islands and really having a lot of fun.

One thing that really sticks out to me is that I get to play my character

the way I love to play my character.

I'm there with my team,

we're trying to figure out which way to go,

what's the best strategy.

And depending on who I'm with, I really get to play a role.

And that feels very special to me.

A lot of the creatures on islands have been built with that idea in mind.

That you have a set of tools in your toolbox as a player:

You have interrupts, you have stuns.

So we've created powerful elites that are maybe pretty difficult

to take on on your own.

That is probably one of my favorite parts of it:

when you arrive on the island,

you don't know where the challenge is going to be.

You might see a large Azerite cluster in the middle of 3 elites,

and knowing that you can't take that on,

but with some co-ordination, with some consumable usage,

with usage of things you find on the island,

you definitely can overcome it at certain points.

Thank you for letting us talk to you about Islands Expeditions.

It's really been fun.

It's a feature we're really excited about personally,

and we're also really eager to get it into your hands as soon as possible.

So, thanks for listening.

On behalf of the World of Warcraft Development Team,

we hope you enjoy Battle for Azeroth.

10 Surprising Things That Actually Make Guys Cry - Duration: 4:07.

10 Surprising Things That Actually Make Guys Cry

If you think guys cannot cry, then you are completely wrong.

For starter, guys are humans too.

They have emotion, and things affect greater than anything else.

Even though men are not that sensitive compared to women, they still can cry.

At the very least, here is the 10 things that make guys cry.

#1 - Seeing their parents

Their parents now have effect on them greater than when they were kids.

When they are still children, they are pretty rebellious and it makes their parents got

into thinking to tame their children.

That goes continuously until they become parents themselves.

They eventual realize that their parents are the most valuable things they ever had.

#2 - Having a daughter

It is challenging and rewarding at the same time.

There are so many bad guys out there who want to take advantage over your daughter.

However, what makes them cry is when their daughters call their dads and do something

together.

#3 - Struggling together

When his partner starts to need regular treatment for her betterment, he just feels ashamed,

weak, and hopeless to get back into original condition.

When things get hard, there is nothing that guys can do but to cry.

#4 - When things went unexpected

It is quite problematic when things you planned crumble one by one.

It is absolutely the saddest thing that can happen, and it is heart-breaking.

Men can cry when their struggle is pointless despite of the efforts he have put.

However, they still believe that they can do something better for his life.

Otherwise, they will be trapped in the past.

#5 - Being separated with "friends"

It is Unfortunate that you cannot just get hold on to them.

The reason is simply because as we get old, we don't know what will happen in the future.

Some of us will leave first, and it is one thing that makes men sad.

It holds even true when it comes to their pet since they are always together and they

now cannot even walk properly.

#6 - Little things make them cry too

Some little things that make them cry are onions.

Yes, onions are always the greatest challenge to keep their mood on top.

Even though they have followed the advice from the life hack academy, they still cannot

stop crying when they are having interaction with onions.

#7 - Touching movies

You women probably don't realize that men actually can cry just because of Disney movies.

Sometimes, they intentionally watch them and cry.

However, the feeling is intensified when they decide to sit down and see the most dramatic

scene ever.

#8 - Touching TV shows

In addition to just movies, men are also moved by TV shows, even an anime too.

There is always a scene that break men's heart into pieces, disabling them to express

anything but sadness through cry.

#9 - Movies again and dogs

Dogs are human's best friend that we believe at least.

It is no wonder that men can relate the scene with dogs with their own life.

If the scene is dramatic and sad, it is no wonder that men can cry too because of that.

#10 - Looking at the bank balance

It is really really sad to see your balance remains stable with no increase as you expected.

Well, that makes sense because it is not the payday.

Well, that's all of the 10 surprising things that actually make guys cry.

Nation under rainy sky until tomorrow morning _ 040518 - Duration: 1:57.

Now we turn to our Michelle Park at the weather center for the latest updates.

It's been raining all day long here in Korea, just in time to mark Arbor Day.

But how much longer are we going to be under these conditions?

Daniel at least until tomorrow morning.

We will see clear skies past noon, with Seoul expected to receive some more precipitation

until the afternoon while the rest of the region stays under clear skies.

Now, unfortunately, we will endure some more wet conditions until tomorrow morning, with

Seoul expected to receive at least 5 to 10 millimeters of rain.

But as soon as the rain clears in the morning, smog is expected to flow in,... making us

wear our masks again.

In the morning, Seoul will be a tad chilly hitting 7 degrees Celsius, Daegu and Gyeongju

both beginning the day at 10,...Busan hitting 13 degrees.

The highs remain on the chilly side tomorrow.

Seoul topping out at 11 degrees, Gwangju and Busan topping out at 13 and 16 degrees.

After the rain, we will experience one last cold spell as temperatures are expected to

drop to 4 degrees Celsius.

But afterwards, conditions will return to seasonal averages.

I'll leave you with the weather conditions around the world.

after a shipyard was closed last July.

The designation will enable workers and firms in the area to receive financial support,...

while those who lost their jobs will be eligible for job training and subsidies.

Companies that open new businesses in Gunsan will receive tax exemptions and enjoy other

Live broadcast of Park Geun-hye's sentencing trial to take place tomorrow - Duration: 2:10.

The sentencing of Park Geun-hye will take place Friday.

The court is preparing for an historic, live broadcast of a trial.

But the first ever democratically elected South Korean president to be impeached...

is unlikely to be in attendance.

For details we turn to our Won Jung-hwan.

Faced with 18 charges including bribery, abuse of power and leaking state secrets,... three

decades in prison may mean that Park, who is 66 years old, spends the rest of her life

behind bars.

In February,…

South Korean prosecutors demanded former President Park Geun-hye serve 30 years in jail for her

role in the massive corruption scandal that led to her impeachment and fall from grace.

Park's sentencing trial by the lower court will take place Friday afternoon, and for

the first time in South Korea's history, the sentencing of a former president will be broadcast

live.

The live broadcast has become possible after the Supreme Court amended the rules last year

to allow live broadcasts in certain circumstances, and if the hearing is of public interest.

"In the past, Choi Soon-sil and Lee Jae-yong refused the live broadcast,… and the court

accepted it because they thought the individual loss will be much greater than the public

gain.

But in the case of former President Park Geun-hye,… the decision to broadcast the trial live has

become possible due to her public status as the country's former president... and overall

public interest."

But according to the professor, the impeached former president is unlikely to attend her

trial,... as she has been boycotting court proceedings since last October.

"Park has been continuously questioning the fairness of the trial, and has expressed she

is against the live broadcasting of the entire hearing.

Considering all of these things together, I don't think the former president will attend

tomorrow's trial."

Park Geun-hye was removed from office last year on the back of a massive influence-peddling

scandal.

She is accused of accepting bribes in exchange for political favors for a number of the country's

biggest conglomerates such as SK, Samsung, and Lotte.

Elliott Management presses for restructuring at Hyundai Motor group - Duration: 1:58.

Hyundai Motor and two other divisions of the conglomerate are seeing their shares soar.

This comes after a U.S. hedge fund revealed it holds more than one billion dollars of

the company's stocks,... and urged rapid reform of the motor giant's governance.

Kim Mok-yeon has the full story.

Korea's largest automaker Hyundai Motor Group is facing a fresh challenge.

A unit of the U.S. investment firm Elliott Management announced on Wednesday that it

has stakes in Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors and Hyundai Mobis worth more than 1 billion U.S.

dollars, and is demanding the Korean auto-group reform its corporate governance structure

and improve capital returns.

The 1 billion dollar stake amounts to less than 1.5 percent of combined market capitalization

of the three affiliates.

The remarks follow Hyundai Motor Group's announcement last week that it would simplify its governance

structure by merging its logistics unit Hyundai Glovis with Hyundai Mobis and making the latter

the de facto holding company of the auto and steel empire.

The change is expected to eventually simplify the conglomerate's cross-shareholding structure.

The Hong Kong-based affiliate of American hedge fund Elliott Management applauded Hyundai's

decision, but said that more needs to be done to benefit the companies and stakeholders,

adding that it plans to further engage with management and stakeholders.

Following the news, shares in the three Hyundai divisions jumped.

As of Thursday, shares of Hyundai Motor rose 1.3 percent from Tuesday's close.

Kia Motors and Hyundai Mobis also climbed 1.9 and 2.7 percent respectively.

Much attention was focused on the latest announcement as Elliott Management has been a critic of

large conglomerates in the past.

It filed a series of lawsuits to stop the merger of Samsung C&T and Cheil Industries

in 2015.

It also proposed that Samsung Electronics simplify its operations and increase shareholder

returns in 2016, which led to the electronics giant taking corresponding measures in line

with the proposal.

S. Korea plans to increase green space across the nation in time for Arbor Day - Duration: 2:23.

Even if it's no longer a day marked in red in Korean calender, the significance of Arbor

Day is not overlooked.

People still get out to plant trees to mark this special occasion.

There's extra motivation to boost the proportion of green space in the country today: getting

some relief from the fine dust blanketing the nation.

Lee Jeong-yeon sheds light on how the decades-old tradition contributed to reforestation efforts.

April 5th marks Arbor Day or Sikmogil here in Korea.

Although the day stopped being a public holiday in 2005, various groups in government offices,

schools, and workplaces are still carrying on with the tradition of tree-planting every

year.

More than 100 people have gathered here to plant around 5000 pine trees for Arbor Day.

Although this practice can still be seen today in South Korea, with each year that passes,

this sight is becoming increasingly harder to come by.

Over the past decade, the number of trees planted in Gyeonggi-do Province decreased

by around 20 percent to 2-point-5 million trees last year while the area decreased by

around 16 percent.

However, experts say the decrease isn't necessarily a negative sign.

"Korea is considered a pretty successful case of reforestation.

It's just less common to plant trees than before because we have less land to fill up."

What's also changed over the years is the types of trees planted.

The most popular choice for reforestation purposes has been the pine tree, but that

has changed due to various reasons such as the spread of pest that thrives off pinewood.

Instead, another type of evergreen tree, the nakyeopsong tree and broad-leaved trees such

as tulip trees are planted more often these days.

The Korea Forest Service has said that in the few months before and after Arbor Day,

they plan to plant around 54-million trees over 22-thousand hectares of land across the

nation.

An official from the organization said that ultimately by 2022, the agency aims to expand

the proportion of nature per square meter in major cities, from around 10 square meters

as it is now,… to around 12 square meters, in order to minimize the negative impact of

fine dust pollution.

Korea could face challenges amid U.S.-China trade conflict - Duration: 2:33.

The intensifying trade spat between Washington and Beijing has countries around the world

on the edge of their seats.

Many are fearful of the repercussions, if the tit for tat between the two economic superpowers

escalates into a full-blown trade war.

Cha Sang-mi gauges the potential impact of such a scenario on the Korean economy.

The first volley came a month ago, on March 9th, when President Trump imposed steep tariffs

of 25 percent on Chinese steel and 10 percent on aluminum.

On March 22nd, Trump signed an executive memorandum proposing 60-billion-U.S.-dollars worth of

retaliatory tariffs against China for its alledged theft of American intellectual property.

In the first week of April, Beijing hit back,... imposing 25-percent duties on eight American

goods, including pork and recycled aluminum -- tariffs in total worth 3 billion dollars.

Just a day later, Trump unveiled a list of 13-hundred Chinese goods that would be subject

to 25-percent tariffs -- focused on the Chinese aerospace, tech and medical industries.

And the next day, Beijing responded with an equal 25-percent tariff on one-hundred-and-6

categories of American goods, including soybeans, cars and chemicals, worth 50-billion U.S.

dollars.

In the meantime, South Korea is worried about getting caught in the crossfire.

The Korea International Trade Association estimates that if the trade war expands to

include the European Union, global trade volume could fall by 6 percent.

That could mean a drop in exports for Korea of 6-point-4 percent,... a loss of nearly

3-hundred-and-70 billion dollars.

On the China side, Korea's exports already face a decline.

"Mainly this is because a lot of what Korea sells to China, its largest trading partner,

is actually intermediate parts that are used for products used in China and also for Chinese

exports to other countries, including the United States."

According to KITA, Korea's shipments of intermediate goods account for over 70 percent of all its

exports to China.

"There will be direct damage done to Korean companies based in China, as well as indirect

damage to Korean businesses that export to the U.S. through China."

While experts say the Korean government should keep its options open and look to other countries

for its exports, the hope is that tensions ease... and that things don't escalate to

a point that hurts global economic growth.

S. Korean gov't proposes US$ 3.7 bil. extra budget to boost job creation - Duration: 1:48.

The Moon Jae-in administration proposed a multi-billion dollar supplementary budget

to reduce the nation's stubbornly high youth unemployment rate.

Kim Hyesung explains how this latest measure could prove to be effective.

The government has proposed a supplementary budget worth about 3-point-7 billion U.S.

dollars, which will be submitted to the National Assembly Friday for approval.

The extra spending is aimed at tackling South Korea's high youth unemployment, which the

government sees as a developing crisis, and at helping regional economies hit by corporate

restructuring.

The government's goal is to bring youth unemployment down to below 8 percent by 2021, from last

year's 9-point-8 percent, and to create around 50-thousand jobs for young people.

Of the total extra budget, 2-point-7-5 billion dollars are to be used to support small and

mid-sized companies that hire new full-time employees and to subsidize their wages.

There are also tax incentives for new workers and for smaller-sized firms that hire them.

The Finance Ministry said the remaining 950 million dollars will go to domestic automobile

and shipbuilding companies in the restructuring process.

If passed, this would be the second extra budget under President Moon Jae-in.

Last year, the Moon administration formed a 10.5 billion dollar supplementary budget

to create more quality jobs.

South Korea has passed extra budgets every year since 2015; the latest proposal worth

3-point-7 billion dollars would be the smallest one since 2006.

But there's no guarantee this one will pass the National Assembly.

Opposition lawmakers are against it, and the ruling Democratic Party holds just 41 percent

of the body's 293 seats.

Disgraced exits made by former South Korean leaders - Duration: 4:03.

Aside from Park Geun-hye, another ex-president, Lee Myung-bak, is in the spotlight over corruption

charges.

They aren't the only former leaders to see their reputations tarnished after stepping

out of the top office.

Shin Se-min examines why there are so many recurring instances of top political figures

being mired in scandal and disgrace.

Two winters have passed since South Korea showed the world the power of democracy.

And finally, on Friday afternoon,... the sentencing of the ex-president brought down by the candlelight

protests will be beamed live around the nation.

But former president Park Geun-hye isn't the only ex-Korean leader embroiled in corruption

and other crimes,... in fact,... there's a long list of wrongdoers.

"The arrest of South Korea's 17th President, Lee Myung-bak,... who is now detained here

at the Seoul Eastern Detention Center,... adds to the long list of former leaders whose

reputations were tarnished towards the end of their tenure or post-presidency.

They all have something in common -- all of them were mired in corruption scandals involving

themselves,... their relatives or aides."

While it's a shame Korea has been lumbered with so many corrupt leaders,... political

analysts say the legal strife facing the nation's two most recent ex-leaders shows Korea is

moving in the right direction.

"What we're seeing with two of our corrupt former presidents may be a turning point for

South Korea's democracy and constitutionalism.

It also shows the country now has the maturity to deal with such abuses of power."

Korea's recent history is blighted with scandal-ridden former leaders.

Ex-presidents Chun Doo-hwan and Roh Tae-woo, both former army generals, were found guilty

of mutiny and corruption,… and spent time behind bars.

Kim Young-sam and Kim Dae-jung also saw their legacies tarnished by corruption -- not directly

-- but their sons were convicted for receiving kickbacks.

Another former president, Roh Moo-hyun, was investigated for alleged corruption involving

his family members.

He later committed suicide,... and the case was dropped.

The thread that runs through all these cases: dirty money.

Experts say Korea's rapid economic development -- with its cozy links between the government

and big business -- meant it was always more likely former leaders and their families would

fill their pockets through dubious practices.

"It facilitated and expedited developments but the downside of it is that it became the

fertile ground for corruption and slush funds.

Because of the presidency we have the subject of constitutional amendment, president has

concentrated power, imperial presidency."

And that, he and others say,... shows the necessity of revising the Constitution.

President Moon Jae-in is currently attempting to push through a government-drafted bill

on constitutional changes that include weakening the powers of his office.

South Korea is a vibrant democracy, but its executive-style presidency allows the country's

leader to wield an extreme amount of power, giving rise to "winner-takes-all" politics,...

which critics say enables corruption,... while reducing representation for opposition voices.

Those who back President Moon's plan say the decentralization of power will lay the path

for a healthier democracy.

There's also hope the new constitutional system -- if accepted by the Korean people -- will

lessen the chance of future presidents making the disgraced exits so commonly seen in the

past.
