Good morning good morning guys.
How are you today?
Greetings from Pearson International Airport here in Toronto.
As you can see this is a bit of a different vlog.
I am not here with Audrey.
I'm here all by myself.
So what is going on is that I'm going to visit my parents for 12 days just by myself.
Our parents live in different parts of Canada.
Audrey's parents live in Brampton.
My parents live in Fredericton so I'm going to see them and yeah I'm just catching a flight
here from Toronto.
And I thought I would show you guys a little behind the scenes of what it is like to be
in Canada in the winter.
So the thing I need to tell you guys this morning is there is one pressing issue and
I have no idea if I'm going to make my flight to Fredericton because there is a snow storm
coming there.
It is like snowmageddon.
They are going to be getting snow for hours upon hours.
I think it is actually in fact over a complete day of snow.
Like basically continuous.
I have no idea if I'm going to catch my flight.
Apparently my flight is the last one that will potentially make it out of Toronto to
Fredericton but I have no idea.
So fingers crossed, toes crossed.
Hopefully I make this flight and when I arrive in Fredericton, if I do, I will show you guys
what it is like to experience a snow storm in Canada.
Hey guys time for the biggest update.
Here is my Dad.
Say hi.
We just went through Snowmageddon 1.
Hahaha.
Exactly.
And we're not going to say it is the biggest snow storm of the year because we might get
snowmageddon 2 which is even worse.
Yeah.
We I should have brought the camera along to show this but it is pretty crazy.
Haha.
And I tried like at least 5 or 6 places I was like craving pizza and this one place
called Jack's Pizza was the only place.
The only one.
Yeah.
All of the other ones were like not even answering the phone.
They weren't even answering the phone.
And look at this.
We got pizza with pineapple, we have pepperoni and we have bacon.
And more importantly we have a very important hockey game to watch.
Uh huh.
Who is playing?
Canada eh!
Canada eh.
Canada against the Czech Republic (Czechia) and if they advance to what the semifinals.
Yeah.
They play Sweden.
We've got garlic fingers on the side.
Oh man.
Extra sauce.
This is so good.
This is a special for 19 Canadian dollars which is really really good.
And this is going to be our snack for the game.
We're all set.
We've got cold beer in the fridge.
Picaroons.
Picaroons.
The local beer from Fredericton.
Yeah, we're going to be Blondes tonight.
It is blonde ale.
Yeah, exactly.
Haha.
And I didn't update you guys from the airport.
So what I want to say about that is I was the last flight to get in.
Right?
All of the rest were cancelled.
All the rest were grounded so that is it.
That is great.
So we've got beer.
We've got pizza.
We've got garlic fingers and we've got Canada going for gold.
Not yet but to get to the gold medal game.
Yeah, they've got to beat Czechoslovakia (Czechia) first but you know what they're going to smoke
them.
Sweden just beat the US.
So if we win if Canada wins we play Sweden for gold.
Yep.
So that is tomorrow or the next day.
Go Canada go!
Go Canada go!
Thumbs up.
Woo hoo.
So we ended up smoking them and going to the Gold Medal game.
So we'll have more clips from the Gold Medal Game tomorrow.
And look we've got Hobie the great to watch the game too.
Hobie the great.
Hobie the great.
Hobie the great.
Maine Coon kitty.
Maine Coon kitty.
And just if you were wondering I'm also decked out in my gear too.
I am wearing the Gold Medal sweater from the 2002 Olympic win.
So this is I'm hopeful they're going to get the gold tonight as well.
Fingers crossed, I've got the hat on.
Yeah, we're well represented.
Let's get a win.
We won!
Woo hoo!
What do you think?
What do you have to say?
Well, we uh yeah you were preparing something.
One more?
Hahaha.
What was that?
One more notch in the belt for Canada.
The gold belt.
The gold belt.
Yup.
You've gotta like it.
And uh a sweet a sweet win over Sweden team.
Haha.
Sweet win.
A sweet win over the Swedes.
Yeah.
That is what you've got to be a sweet win over the Swedes for sure.
For sure.
That is awesome.
Look guys.
It is kitty in the bowl.
Kitty in the bowl.
Okay guys so showed you celebrating the Gold Medal of the World Juniors.
Canada won.
Let's do another fist pump for that.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
And tonight we have another really exciting local match we're actually going to a live
game and watching a UNB team.
And they are the university team.
And they are always one of the strongest teams in Canada.
And they are playing one of their biggest rivals here in Atlantic Canada.
Who are they playing?
Ah, they're playing Saint FX which are right now they're second place overall.
Uh, in the Atlantic standings but they are 3rd place overall in the Canadian University
standings.
Yeah.
So UNB is second overall.
The only one ahead of them is the University of Alberta Bears.
Golden Bears.
That is actually where I went to University for my 1st degree.
So the 3 best teams in Canada two of them are facing off tonight.
It is like the clash of the titans.
And we're going with my Uncle and it should be really fun.
We're definitely going for the home team obviously.
And yeah it should be a great game.
And uh we showed you what was happening on TV now we're going to take you and show you
what a live game is like here in Fredericton.
Yeah, it'll be awesome.
Alright guys so the last time I gave you an update we were going to the UNB hockey game.
I think I've probably seen over 10 games over the years and they had never lost until the
last night I went.
I must have jinxed them because I was actually mentioned before the game.
They have a legit chance of losing because they were playing a team that had the same
record.
They were both like 15 and 1.
And they got smoked.
What was it 5 to 1?
5 to 1 when we left.
5-1 when we left.
We actually left early.
Anyways that was a few days ago.
What is exciting is I ordered some snowshoes from Amazon.
It you take a look down here.
Check these out.
These are my new snowshoes.
Way down.
I'll show you what they're like.
You basically put on your boot and then you have this is a snowshoe here.
You can see there is like the picks as well.
Yep.
Yeah.
So that allows you to go uphill.
Check out some different things and what is awesome is we've come to a park here in Fredericton.
It is called Odell Park.
It is beautiful in the summer and equally as beautiful in the winter.
And just check out all of the snow.
So we are going to go out follow the trail a bit, maybe break some of our own trail and
yeah it is just going to be a great exercise.
This is like the quintessential thing to do in Canada in the winter.
Okay we have to get some Habitant nicknames here.
Okay.
Sam you will be Two Bit Laffitt.
I'm 2 bit Laffitt and I'll be Black Jack Shellac.
Okay?
There we go.
There we go.
Here, we are bashing out.
(Snow crunching sounds)
Okay enough of this main trail nonsense.
Let's get off on the side trail.
What is this one called?
The green side trail.
Alright you lead the way I'll follow.
Okay.
Onward and upward.
Hardy Har Har!
The snowshoeing with my Dad was absolutely awesome.
We couldn't have asked for better weather.
Like the sun was out.
It wasn't too cold.
And apparently in just a few days it is going to really warm up and rain.
It is going to create like this disgusting mess so we really lucked out in the sense
that my snowshoes arrived so that we could go.
Anyways I'm just kind of in downtown Fredericton and I thought I would just show you guys
a few of the winter scenes you can find around the city here.
