Evangelical Church Gives $16,500 In Gift Cards To Furloughed Workers - News Today - Duration: 4:30.

An evangelical church in Alabama handed out $16,500 in grocery store gift cards to local federal workers and contractors struggling to make ends meet during the ongoing partial government shutdown.

The First Baptist Church of Huntsville's grand gesture on Thursday was part of a wider community-led effort to help furloughed workers in Alabama's third-largest city, which is home to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and the Army's Redstone Arsenal.

First Baptist's senior pastor, Travis Collins, told HuffPost that the church emptied out its disaster relief fund ― which held $14,000 ― and collected an additional $2,500 from its members to help fund the charity effort. The church purchased over 300 Publix gift cards from a local grocery store in $50 increments.

Within 30 minutes of opening the church's doors on Thursday, all the gift cards were gone, Collins said.

The pastor said he was moved by how many people had lined up that morning at his church to receive the cards.

"That was probably the most impactful moment," he said. "Just seeing that many people who have done the right thing, prepared for a job, got a job, worked at a job and for circumstances beyond their control, now they're in need of temporary assistance."

Now in its fifth week, the partial government shutdown was triggered by disagreements between President Donald Trump, who is demanding more than $5 billion for a U.S.-Mexico border wall, and Democrats in Congress, who don't want to allocate any new money for it. The shutdown has affected 800,000 federal workers, about 420,000 of whom must still report to work, even without being paid.

In Alabama, nearly 40,000 federal employees have been affected by the shutdown, The Washington Post reports.

Collins said that many members of his congregation are NASA or Redstone Arsenal employees. First Baptist is a conservative evangelical congregation aligned with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Southern Baptist Convention.

Below, Collins invites furloughed workers to attend a charity event at First Baptist Church of Huntsville.

The pastor emphasized that his church is just one of many local organizations helping federal workers during the partial shutdown. He said the idea for Thursday's event came from workers at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center who wanted to create an opportunity for local charities and businesses to connect with furloughed workers. As one of Huntsville's largest churches, First Baptist had the space to accommodate such an event.

Eighteen community organizations set up information booths in the church, including the local food bank, the Alabama Department of Labor and banks offering low-interest loans, CNN reports. At least 700 people attended the event, Collins said.

First Baptist's ministry staff are meeting on Monday to discuss future partnerships with community organizations helping furloughed workers, he said.

"Our only regret is that we didn't designate more money," Collins said. "We had no idea how big the response would be."

Across the country, other religious communities have pitched in to help federal employees affected by the shutdown. A church in Chula Vista, California, started a food bank for furloughed employees, and churches in Dallas and Atlanta and a synagogue in Chattanooga, Tennessee, offered gift cards. Muslim youth groups across the country organized volunteers to clean up national parks amid the shutdown.

Collins said he sees First Baptist's donation as a "natural response" to the crisis.

"It's kind of corny and all, but I think Jesus would be there giving away grocery cards or he'd be right there volunteering with any organization that is helping," Collins said. "So it's not like we're going above and beyond the call of duty."

pink shade from the palette and then I'm going to buff that right above the

purple shadow that we just placed down

then I'm going to go in with a morphe m56 to brush and I'm going to go into

this lighter pink shade from the palette and then I'm going to bust that directly

above the last pink shadow that we place down and then at this point you're just

going to go back and forth between all these brushes and shades and you're just

going to continue to build up the intensity until you have everything nice

and blended in together and you have it as intense as you want the look to be

all right so I did go in and remove the tape and I'm going to go back into my P

Louise face at this point and I'm going to go in and cut the entire lid you have

that all nice and packed I'm going to go into this purple shade again and I'm

just gonna buff that into the outer part of the crease so that there's no harsh

lines and next I'm going to go in with a shader brush and I'm going to go into

this light pink shimmery shade from the palette and then I'm going to pop that

all over the lid and then we're going to go back into that purple shade one more

time and I'm just going to buff it into the pink shade so again it that there's

no Mary Jane's paint now so for that baby blue liner

that I have on the lid I'm gonna go in to my students of UT hide your liner and

it's Snow Queen if you guys don't know what these are these are water activated

Hydra liners so you have to dip your brush in some water and then create a

creamy consistency with it I am using a makeup Shakti 75 brush at this point and

I'm just gonna go in and create a wing

guys that did go off camera and I did my lashes and Foundation and stuff

off-camera and I'm gonna move in and go underneath the lower lash line so to do

that I'm going to go into this dark purple shade from the palette and I'm

going to buff that right underneath the lower lash line and then I'm gonna go

back in with my cran brush into this hot pink shade and then I'm gonna buff that

right underneath the lower lash line as well and then I'm just going to go back

into that purple a little bit with the crown brush and I'm gonna buff that on

the outer part of the lower lash line and then I'm gonna go underneath the

lower lash line with my snaps kara by Maybelline and then for lips I'm going

to keep it extremely bright as well so I'm going to go in with my colour-pop

ultra matte liquid lip in the shade highball

Cholesterol – Przyczyny podwyższenia cholesterolu: Cholesterol przed menopauzą: Ryzyko podwyższenia się cholesterolu przed menopauzą jest wysokie i zależy od wielu czynników.

Zazwyczaj zdarza się to przed 50-tym rokiem życia i zmusza nas do przyjmowania odpowiednich leków lub zmienienia nawyków żywieniowych.

Teraz przyjrzyjmy się tym przyczynom: Ciąża. Podczas ciąży, podnosi się poziom estrogenu i hormonów niezbędnych do rozwoju łożyska,

cholesterol w tym wypadku jest najważniejszym tłuszczem przyczyniającym się do ich wzrostu i kształtowaniu łożyska. Wszystko to – prowadzi do hipercholesterolemii.

Ponadto, cierpimy na zmiany zachodzące w procesach anabolicznych, które również przyczyniają się do wzrostu poziomu cholesterolu.

Należy zatem pamiętać, aby poddawać się kontroli medycznej i ściśle śledzić zalecenia lekarza prowadzącego ciążę, który zaproponuje nam odpowiedni sposób leczenia.

Stosowanie środków antykoncepcyjnych. Wiele z tych tabletek zawiera estrogen i progestagen.

Tak jak wcześniej wspominaliśmy, mają one wpływ na poziom triglicerydów i cholesterolu, powodując zmiany zarówno w lipoproteinach HDL jak i LDL.

Niedoczynność tarczycy. Badania wykazały, że podczas niedoczynności tarczycy, tarczyca produkuje za mało hormonów, spowalniając w ten sposób metabolizm w naszym organizmie.

To z kolei powoduje wzrost poziomu cholesterolu, ponieważ hormony tarczycy zmniejszają zdolność wątroby do przetwarzania krwi. Zawsze należy o tym pamiętać.

Niewydolność nerek. Jeżeli cierpimy z powodu zaburzenia czynności nerek, w naszej krwi gromadzą się lipidy, których nerki nie są w stanie prawidłowo przetworzyć.

Wszystko to wpływa negatywnie na nasz cholesterol, prowadząc do jego niebezpiecznego wzrostu.

Otyłość. Jest to jedna z najbardziej znanych i powszechnych przypadłości.

Gromadzący się tłuszcz w naszym organizmie wpływa natychmiastowo na zaburzenie równowagi pomiędzy lipoproteinami HDL i LDL i co za tym idzie,

wzrostu cholesterolu oraz zwiększeniu obecności tłuszczu, przylegającego do ścian żył i tętnic, powodując ich niebezpieczne stwardnienie.

Cholesterol podczas menopauzy: Podczas menopauzy, zawsze dochodzi do wzrostu poziomu cholesterolu. Czasami zastanawiamy się co może powodować jego nieoczekiwany wzrost,

bo dbamy przecież o siebie tak samo i zdrowo się odżywiamy, a jednak do wzrostu dochodzi.

Dlaczego więc tak się dzieje? Odpowiedzialnym za to zjawisko jest estrogen, którego poziom podczas menopauzy znacznie się waha.

Do tego czasu bowiem, poziom estrogenu w naszym organizmie był odpowiedni i nie odczuwaliśmy tych dolegliwości,

zbliżając się jednak do 50-tego roku życia, jego poziom się obniża i powoduje to wzrost poziomu cholesterolu w naszej krwi.

Musimy zatem wziąć to pod uwagę i poddać się opiece lekarza, który może nam zaproponować terapię hormonalną, mogącą zrównoważyć poziom estrogenu.

Jak zwalczyć wysoki poziom cholesterolu u kobiet? Moc czerwonych i niebieskich owoców: Arbuzy, granaty, truskawki, jeżyny, borówki, śliwki, itd.

Wszystkie owoce koloru niebieskiego i czerwonego, mają właściwości obniżające poziom cukru we krwi, obniżają też poziom cholesterolu i pomagają dbać o nasze serce.

W przypadku kobiet cierpiących na przykład na stany zapalne dróg moczowych, owoce te są niezwykle pomocne,

oprócz tego, mają właściwości antyoksydacyjne, dzięki czemu posiadają szeroki wachlarz zastosowań.

Co więcej, owoce te zawierają antocyjany, które idealnie sprawdzają się w obniżaniu poziomu cholesterolu.

Warto więc spożywać je każdego ranka lub przyrządzać z nich sok, można je też dodawać do owsianki. Wpływają korzystnie na zdrowie kobiet.

Wytyczne dla odpowiedniej diety: Unikajmy jedzenia białego pieczywa, dodatków do żywności, produktów tłustych typu „fast food", nabiału, czerwonego mięsa, smażonych i solonych produktów.

Zwiększmy spożywanie owoców i warzyw zielonolistnych, produktów pełnoziarnistych, płatków owsianych, siemienia lnianego, orzechów i tofu.

Starajmy się zawsze przygotowywać posiłki w piekarniku, unikajmy posiłków smażonych. Używajmy zawsze oliwy z oliwek.

Uprawiajmy ćwiczenia, wystarczy nawet czterdziestominutowy spacer.

Unikajmy siedzącego trybu życia.

Carpet Plus | Canterbury Home Show 2018 - Duration: 2:59.

- Hi, I'm Tracy from Carpet Plus,

we're at the Canterbury Home Show this weekend,

let me show you around the stand.

So, over here we've got a fantastic range

of Cavalier Bremworth wool carpets.

There's been a real comeback for wool carpets

in the last year.

We've got some amazing different products,

from your high low loop pile wools,

through to your level loop piles

and then we've even got cut pile carpets.

So these are all 100% wool, all fade and stain resistant.

And then, heading over into this area,

we've got the Cavalier nylon carpets,

so once again, all fade and stain resistant.

They are a fantastic range of colours,

so we're going through to more earthy tones now.

I've got a selection of tiles on the stand.

So we've got some beautiful polished tiles,

through to some semi-honed tiles as well.

This is only a small sampling of what we have at Carpet Plus

we've got a full range in store.

Now, over here, we've got Godfrey Hirst and Feltex.

So this is our show-stopper.

This is a brand new high low loop pile,

so 100% wool product from Feltex.

Beautiful product, very, very durable,

amazing looking on the floor, great range of colours.

And then we've got Cable Bay,

so this is a solution dyed nylon.

Once again fade and stain resistant.

This is one of the most durable products available

on the market, lovely range of colours.

Now, over here, we've got a brand new product,

new to the market.

So we've got vinyl planks here,

so these are glued down onto the floor.

And then we've got this range here,

which is a hybrid product,

so what's special with this hybrid product is,

it's like a laminate.

So you've got your groove here, your click,

but the advantage is, it's 100% waterproof

and on the backing it's actually got the underlay built

into the product, so that saves on instal costs.

Now, if we come over here, we've got our range

of engineered timber, so these are all oak products.

So the Regal Oak, this is a 14mm engineered product,

so you've got a 4mm oak product

on the top with the backing.

And then we've got the Project Oak,

which is a fantastic price at $85 a square metre.

So this is real timber guys,

this is 3mm engineered timber on top.

And then we move over into our range

of laminates that we've got.

So with the range of laminates, we've got plenty

of different products available, lots of different colours.

This is just a tiny selection of what we've actually got.

Outdoor Living Feature | Canterbury Home Show 2018 - Duration: 4:17.

- Hi guys, its Craig Wilson here.

I've designed this outdoor living feature

at the Canterbury Home Show.

Come with me, I'll take you for a walk around.

Come have a look.

So what we've got through here,

is we've got some really nice planting.

The plants have been supplied by Southern Woods

and have been installed by Mayfair Park Landscapes.

So we've got some beautiful Magnolia Grandifloras

through here, and you can see the contrast of texture

with the Dianella Revelation underneath that.

Got some beautiful little wee ferns,

lovely lush looking plants.

And underneath that we've got some

Loropetalums a lovely red foliage.

And you can't miss these fantastic standout feature pots.

This is ginormous.

Look at the scale of these.

And they've been planted with some

really good sized Magnolia Grandifloras.

And they've been supplied by the Little Big Tree company.

They look fantastic.

Right, so we've got the display from

Designer Gates over here.

So these guys are experts at designing and installing gates.

Look at this beautiful powder-coated finishes.

A nice timber material so you get lovely textures.

So these make a great feature for your homes.

Fantastic.

The outdoor awning from Renson.

So look at these, these are amazing for

providing shade where you need it.

These have got heaters installed, which are fantastic.

And of course you can get a really good

range of colour through this.

So the colour to suit your house

and to really create a nice outdoor feature.

The umbrellas. These umbrellas are amazing.

They're about 4x4 metres, so you can see

the extent of shade you gonna create from these.

They create a nice sense of enclosure as well.

So these outdoor rooms are amazing.

These panels slide.

You've got tilting louvres in through here.

So you can really create an incredible

outdoor enclosure with a huge range of shelter.

The louvres rotate, there's lighting in the louvres.

So these create a really beautiful outdoor space.

So where you can have either full enclosure

or where you can really open up

to the outdoor space as well.

And as you can see we've sort of staged

these with some really nice furniture.

So these are fantastic and once again

you've got really good lighting

and heating in these as well.

So you can kind of imagine one of

these in your home really nicely.

InsideOut kitchens.

So this is one of those real trend things

where people are looking for a greater

outdoor living feature in terms of outdoor kitchens.

So the guys through here.

You know, you've got your sink with beautiful

designer tapware and obviously you can imagine

how this is gonna be a beautiful BBQ feature.

You've got nice materials.

Beautiful top to touch in through here.

And you can imagine sitting up

at the bar feature through here.

Pretty cool.

And here we have our Horizon Paving.

There's a huge range of pavers through here.

Textures and colours.

So we can basically supply,

Horizon can supply and install theses.

And these are just gorgeous, so you've got

something here that's going to pretty much

match any outdoor living space.

And we've got the beautiful pizza ovens through here.

And the detail on the mosaiacs is just incredible.

Nice stainless steel, these are really quality fittings.

And what we've got here is some beautiful decking

that leads into the pool space.

With the beautiful paving around here

the pool from Morgan + Stone.

And of course the water feature here

which just introduces life.

And we've got the planting around the pool.

And as we move through here we've got

some artificial turf which is

a fantastic product these days.

Got some nice tree ferns in behind there.

So the Synscape guys do a great job with this

and Morgan + Stone also provide these

beautiful seated hot tubs.

Just amazing.

So here we've got the timber decking

from One-Step Deck Shop.

So this is the composite product

as opposed to the real stuff,

so it just depends on your preference

and your purse, what you prefer.

And then the outdoor fireplace.

So here we've got a beautiful plaster finish

for the Trendz outdoor fireplace,

polished concrete hearth, just looks fantastic.

And then you've got the wood storage

down in through here as well.

And then we finished off with some

really nice plantings again.

Basically, we've got the Magnolia Grandifloras

with the Phormiums, the Aspleniums

down through here, and the Dianellas.

And then we've got this Motiles living wall

which has been planted out with some

beautiful little wee ferns.

Looking fantastic.

Senator Roger Wicker on border security and defunding sanctuary cities l Roger Wicker For Senate - Duration: 0:34.

Several years ago, I authored an amendment to defund sanctuary cities.

I'm glad that President Trump has taken up that cause now in his administration.

It's certainly something that we need to get done. Border security has been

important to me for years, I've voted to fund a border fence and I support now

the funding that's required to build the border wall.
