(jazz guitar music)
- Hi everybody, my name is Jens Larsen.
This video is going to go over
the basic things, that you need to check out,
if you wanna play a jazz blues in the key of F.
So I'm gonna do this in four choruses,
the first chorus is just gonna be some chord voicings,
so that you can play through the blues comping it
and you can hear what the harmony sounds like.
The second chorus is going to be arpeggios of those chords,
so that you have somewhere to start,
when you're soloing and once you can play,
soloing with arpeggios and follow the harmony,
then you can add some more notes
by using some of the scale exercises,
I'm covering that in the third chorus
and the fourth chorus
is just the transcription of me improvising a solo,
using the material that I went over.
If you wanna learn more about jazz guitar,

then click the little bell notification icon.
Let's first have a look at the chord voicings,
so that we can come through a 12-Bar Blues.
What you may notice here
if you're a little bit familiar with jazz voicings,
is that I'm riding F7 and actually the voicing
that I'm playing is an F7 with a nine
and the reason why I do that,
is because when we are thinking about the blues,
you can actually add the colors and the extensions
sort of to your own taste, when you're comping,
so I may play F7 with a nine,
or I may play an F7 or I might play an F7 with a 13,
that's not really something that you can tell
and it's not going to be written in the score,
because that's up to how whoever's playing the chords
is going to interpret that chord symbol,
so for that reason,
I'm just providing the simple, basic chord
and then I'm choosing to interpret
with a nine in this exercise.
The next thing we need is some material,
that we can use, when we're soloing over the 12-Bar Blues
and if you're playing a genre of music like jazz,
where it's really useful
to follow the changes, when you're soloing,
then one of the things you wanna check out
is the arpeggios of all the chords in the progression.
So that's what I'm gonna go over here in this chorus
and of course, I put it into a chorus,
so I'm just changing arpeggio once every bar,
I'm not starting on the root of each of the arpeggios
and the reason why I'm not doing that
is because I wanna sort of cover
the same area of the neck with all the arpeggios
so that you have different options
and that you can easily move from one arpeggio to the next.
I'm starting on the C with the F7 here,
so my F7 arpeggio starts on C
and doesn't get an F until the third note,
but that's because,
if I have to connect to the low B flat in the next arpeggio,
then it's a good idea to just have the C close by,
because otherwise you get this skip
and that's not really gonna make for a nice melody,
so for that reason I kept the arpeggios
sort of in the same range,
but not necessarily starting on the root.
A good exercise for both checking out the scales
and also connecting them to the form
is to play them as a one-octave scale exercise,
in this case, that means that I'm playing them
from the root until the seventh
and then I can play for the F7, this scale, so,
and then I can just move that around
and do the same thing for the B flat seven, so,
and this is an exercise,
that you may or may not know already
as something that Barry Harris uses a lot,
when he's teaching the scales,
that go with the chorus over a standard,
so this way of approaching the blues is really useful
just the idea about what all the scales sound like
and you're also still really connecting to the chords,
when you play it like this.
So that exercise sounds like this.
For these scales, I think the choices of scale
are pretty obvious most of the time,
because for the dominant chords,
so it's really, it's an F7,
now F7 is the dominant in B flat major,
so if the scale that you wanna use in this F7
is in fact the B flat major scale,
but because we're playing it from over an F7,
I'm just playing it from F here
and that's what also fits the chord.
You can also tell that it really spells out
the arpeggio of the chord on the beat,
when I do it like this, because
the only two scales that maybe need
a little bit of an explanation is,
well, in the first case, we got to B flat seven,
that's the same, B diminished,
so the scale I'm using here
is really just using the same scale
as what I'm using on the B flat seven,
except that I take the B flat and move it up to a B,
so that would be first we have for the B flat seven
and then for the B diminished
and the scale I'm really using for this B diminished
is then the C Harmonic minor scale,
so
like this and also for the D7,
so I have a D7 with a flat 13 up here,
because as the D7 is resolving to the G minors,
or to a minor chord, then I wanna use a minor scale on it
and I'm using G Harmonic minor,
while I'm of course playing it from the D,
so that's this scale
and that's also what you would call Phrygian major
or Mixolydian flat nine for flat 13.
That was a chorus of me, soloing,
using the materials that I went over in this video
and as you can tell, you can easily play
a pretty good jazz solo just using the basic material here,
in fact, I think you'll find
that if you start analyzing solos,
then the really great solos are mostly done
with the really basic things,
it's not really about using all the hip scales
and the strange extensions,
it's really more about just playing some solid lines
with the basic material, that's already there
and I think almost any solo transcription,
that you're gonna come across will tell you the same thing.
So you wanna work on it, if you wanna work on soloing
and on jazz blues, then it's a good idea
to really just start with the basic things
and start with maybe trying to improvise
just with the arpeggios
and then adding the rest of the scale around it,
because then you have sort of the arpeggio
and then the Diatonic leading notes around it
and that's a very solid way to create lines
and to hear melody and also for you
to really get the sound of the changes into your ear
and that's gonna help you play better solos in the long run.
It's just the way that you are also
approaching a progression like the 12-Bar Blues,
so really digging into the arpeggios and the scales
or do you have another approach,
so you're working with maybe Pentatonic scales
or do you have another great exercise,
if you do, then leave a comment,
I know I'm really curious and I'm pretty sure
that if somebody is watching this video,

CURRENT FAVES // Hayley Kiyoko, Everlane, Playster, Love Simon and MORE!! ad [CC] - Duration: 8:59.
hello everybody! please excuse my congested voice, I am getting over a cold,
but I wanted to talk today about some of my current favorite things. I have a lot
of things, actually not that many things, but just a few things I feel very
passionately about at the moment so I needed to share them with you. I'm gonna
start with my two fashiony-type favorites um the first one are a pair of
boots. these I got for Christmas and they're a
pair of vegan leather boots from wills vegan shoes and they're these like snow
boots basically. we've had two or three big like winter storms here in New York
and these have been like absolutely perfect. they're really really
comfortable they have lots of room for my feet. I wear-- they're true to size for
me. I wear a size 8, these are a size 8 and I just love them. I think they look
really nice as well. I just love them they're very
comfortable very durable and my feet have been happy and the second favorite
is something that if you follow me anywhere in the internet you know I
won't shut up about and that is everlane's new underwear. so I'm actually
wearing one of the bras right now and it's just like kind of a tank sports bra
type thing. so comfortable. it's this really amazing cotton that feels so nice
on the skin. if you don't know Everlane is like a sustainable brand that I've
loved absolutely loved for years and they just started releasing underwear. if
you're somebody shops sustainably and like eco-friendly, you know that
underwear is very expensive when made well and in good conditions. I've paid
upwards of $25 for a single pair of underwear and it sucks.
Everlane's are $12 and you can get them like in packs or not in packs
but I think it's like three for twenty-seven and then nine dollars a
pair after that, so I bought four pairs. I actually went to their event over the
weekend and got another free pair as well so five pairs of the underwear and
they're super comfortable. these are empty boxes or mostly empty boxes I have
tried them on they're very comfortable. I have two of the bras and one of the body
suits it's all so so comfortable. I super recommend you check it out it's
affordable for what it is and incredible, incredibly made and comfortable and if
you use my link down below it just gives me store credit. anyone can use one of
those links and if you use it, I I'm very thankful because it means I can
buy more underwear, and other clothes, that'd be really awesome if you did. love
Everlane always and forever. next I'm going to talk about some media
type favorites first one is actually the people who are sponsoring this video
today and you if you follow other booktubers you might have seen a little
bit about this but it's called Playster and it's an app. I actually have been
using it mostly on my computer but I downloaded the app as well. I've been
using this mostly for audiobooks. one of the ones I listened to most recently was
I Stop Somewhere by TE Carter which I listened to on here. they have a really
wide selection of audiobooks. I use overdrive a lot of the time but because
it is a library service I have to often wait for releases especially new
releases so this has new releases, and old releases and you don't have to like
compete with other people for them or wait in line basically so I've been kind
of going between overdrive and this and I really really like it. I think it's a
great app. I actually have a discount code for you as well if you use the
promo code Kayley60 it gives you a 60 day trial
for six dollars and it's like the full media plan, where you can listen to
unlimited audiobooks, ebooks, music, movies, TV shows, everything, which is really cool.
I actually only read the promo code this moment um and that's really awesome so
if you want to download the app I recommend it. they're a really cool
company in general and also I've been using it a lot and listening to a lot of
audiobooks. I haven't been reading much this year, pals. it's been... I've been
really busy with other stuff and I've only read at the moment I'm recording
this 12 books which for me is like usually what I would read in a month
last year and it's the end of March. anyway more information about Playster
down below. my next media favorite is someone I haven't I don't think I've
talked about my channel which is like blasphemous because she's my Queen
that's Hayley Kiyoko. I love Hayley Kiyoko. Hayley Kiyoko is a lesbian pop
artist and she sings about girls loving girls and I'm here for it. her music is
so good, her videos are incredible, she directs them and they're really
beautifully done. they don't over-sexualize the female
body in a lot of ways that like traditional pop videos do.
they're done really tastefully but also really like sexy, they're really sexy
especially for like queer women to see queer women in that... in like that
mainstream pop setting. it's just incredible. I love it so much and
speaking of like queer media: Love, Simon. I loved Love, Simon. don't get me
wrong I liked Simon Versus the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli,
oh my nose is making me talk silly. I liked it but I felt like it was a little
young and for some reason just seeing like queer kids in the Hollywood film
setting, like big theatre, with lots of people that it was just such an
incredible experience. I wish I'd had that in high school because I think I
probably could have learned a lot more about myself from a younger age had I
had these like mainstream pop artists and films and books that a lot of teens
do now and I think that's really amazing. Love, Simon was so so good.
Keiynan Lonsdale is like a gift to us all, his smile is a gift to us all. the music
is incredible. the music I actually just double-checked is on Playster, which is
cool. I've been listening to the soundtrack a ton. we also have the
vinyl. another favorite of mine is something that if you follow me on the
internet you're probably again sick of hearing me talk about and that is
Paddington. the Paddington films are unparalleled.
honestly, Paddington 2 is one of my favourite films I've seen in a very long
time. it's so genuinely good and funny and pure and it's funny in a way that
it's not the expense of like a marginalized group or any specific
person. it's just like a weird like quirky kind of humor. it's very British
which I love obviously. they're just so good and I can't explain it other
than saying it's so pure and beautiful and I want everyone to experience the
Paddington franchise. for Valentine's Day I got my girlfriend this and she got me
this so now they like sit together, our little Paddington children. I got a lot
of Paddington books for my birthday, I want a Paddington tattoo, that's
probably gonna happen eventually. I love Paddington. actually the day I'm
filming this is the day that Paddington comes out oh my gosh Paddington 2 is
now out I'm going to you like buy it as soon as I finished
filming this, like buy it on Amazon or something. Wow.
my final favourites are two television shows. I finally like a month and a half
ago caught up on The Good Plave and it was so good. it's gotten so funny. I love
the weird like concept humor and I just love it. I love the good place. I thought
it was so genuinely funny and clever and it just went places that I didn't
expect. so I don't like sitcoms I really don't like the sitcom format.
I don't like 20 minutes shows in general. I like can't get invested normally but I
binge watch the good place which I think maybe I prefer watching, binge
watching like short programs and then watching long programs week to week. I
don't know but I loved it. and the final thing is jessica jones season 2. if you
know me you know i'm a die-hard Jessica Jones fan. season 1 is one of my favorite
seasons of television that ever has existed. I did not like season 2 nearly
as much um I think the subject matter of season 1 was really personal to me
so season 2 didn't quite have that same like gut-wrenching relatability that
season 1 had for me but I still really enjoyed it and thought it was really
funny and there are some really great moments and Krysten Ritter is incredible.
so that's all there is to it. those are my favourites. I feel like I'm forgetting
stuff um I also have some like makeup skincare type things but I'm considering
doing a skincare video in a couple months when I've like really solidified
all the new products I've been getting and like got a routine down, considering
doing a skincare video. if you're interested in that, let me know. I'm also
trying to collect questions eventually for a Q&A so if you have any questions
for me, please put them in the comments down below. don't forget to
check out Playster if you want like unlimited access to their all their
content like their audiobooks, ebooks, films, TV shows, etc use my discount code
down below. it's a really awesome service. I wouldn't promote things that I didn't
believe in, didn't enjoy genuinely like I used this for a while before eventually
deciding to take the sponsorship so I swear I'm very picky when it comes to
sponsorship, so if you like it or if that sounds interesting, check it out. and yeah
thank you so much for watching. I'll see you very soon.

Brazil's financial trailblazer - Duration: 1:34.
When I was at university in the 1980s,
Brazil's financial market was plagued
by one of the deepest economic depressions of our history.
Many called this Brazil's lost decade.
At that same time a new phrase was being coined,
"Emerging markets", with Brazil at the centre of it all.
Foreign investors were flooding into our offices
and we needed to evolve, and fast.
1994 was the year that Brazil launched the Real Plan,
which totally changed our economy.
For me personally, and for the country,
this was the year that changed everything.
I was a trailblazer in sellside research, private equity.
I was one of the very few women
that managed a hedge fund in Latin America.
Brazil has such a vibrant and young culture,
and these young people deserve a better future.
In 2015 I decided to dedicate my time
to teaching the next generation of Brazilian trailblazers.
I used to be all on my own,
but now there is a community around me.
Our landscape has changed.
I've seen it change.
I helped make it change.

Martin Marty on Pope Francis and the Vatican's Future - Duration: 3:15.
I'm always interested with a person like that in trying to figure out what's the
nature of his power.
Because he obviously has awesome power.
Many of my Catholic friends—I suppose people say they're Catholics on the left but they're
just Catholics—always say he could be very good but nothing
happens until he changes dogma and law, etc.
He would lose power; he wouldn't gain power.
You can clamp down all you want but you don't hold power if you're his kind.
I had to do a piece on him for Reuters or somebody, mainly European audience, say how
do we see him.
I think of him as the pope of gestures.
And somebody once told me that you can't refute a gesture.
You can argue about a law and about a dogma but what are you going to do when the Holy
Father on Holy Thursday kisses the bare foot of an imprisoned Muslim woman, what are you
going to do about that?
It's just there.
So he will often say things that he probably couldn't back up in law or so on but I think
the power of gesture—the assessment of him as a human being among human beings—is the
base, and that could last quite a while, though he will acquire more enemies along the way
within the church.
I wasn't an observer; I was press.
The book of Acts speaks about people who were lewd fellows of the baser sort, and as far
as some of the people in Rome were concerned, we of the press were the lewd fellows of the
baser sort because we asked all kinds of questions.
But I was there for the second session and by accident got very close to
things.
Press usually were kind of excluded but I share the name of the first bishop of S.t
Cloud Minnesota, Bishop Martin Marty OSB, and the current—then 1963—Bishop was there,
saw my badge: "Martin Marty, my predecessor, what can I do for you?"
I said: "Get me that little blue book."
So I got a pass into the sessions and pretended I was a power instead of a skinny little Chicago
newspaper man.
I don't think anybody can predict that.
I would picture more likely incremental changes because in an age of the media's awareness
of things, which they didn't know in 1962—all the guns would be loaded and you'd have
all your faxes ready to go.
So I think it's more likely that it will be hit and miss.
The direction is set but I don't think it's in him to say, "I want a new law or a new
dogma."

Torpedo vs. the real deal | Comparison with That Pedal Show - Duration: 25:06.
So hello guys
Welcome to the Utah one YouTube guitar Channel
Look who I have
I am freaking out a problem
Huge fan of that pedal show and this is exactly where these gentlemen
This is Dan Steiner, and this is Mickey Taylor hello. Hello Chris
we've already met yes with the Chris and I met in at Tom Allen Germany a
Couple of weeks back doing some victory and stuff, and we had a good a good session
So hopefully those videos will be up at some point, but yeah very cool absolutely good to see you again
We could sit here for a week
Talking you know volume. Wise yes, let's listen
You know pros - is what waiting we're kind of forced down this route only because here at Guitar con
There's three Studios pumping next to one another and so
In each of the studios, it's difficult to have really loud guitar
Amps. It's not like back at that pedal shit. We're down and I can just play really loud very long and I can see
In the real world that's how it is for most people most of the time
You know we're very lucky to be able to play loud and be inspired by that sound so
fair to say Dan
You know there are some big fans playing quietly
So the thing is it's not it's not the volume
The sound pressure levels that really concern me
It's just that I don't it doesn't feel the same yeah, and sorry it not that doesn't even feel it the same. It's that
It's not as inspiring to me. There's something about the reason
I'm playing it on the first place was to being a rock and roll band and
To make loud angry noises, and I love that I still love that yeah, and I you know I think
a
big part of the sound that inspires me is certainly a
Sound that sits with drums and bass and shot and not?
Tinny happy drums so a guy who's rocking out and a guitar that sits in with that's where that's where I want to live
Yeah, that's where it's all all imbalance that yeah, yes, exactly the thing you have your whole setup
And if you change one very important part in that like your speaker is not moving at all anymore
Yeah, this is why they have to however however
that setup is just
entirely inappropriate
If I'm by myself
Trying to work out
You know a lick or whatever true and their family is you know man. Yeah absolutely, yeah?
so for that reason
We were just thinking about
To find out at which level and we don't have like a DB meter
Maybe I have on my cell phone, but you know just more of the
the idea
How quiet?
Will you go with your m?
Until you really don't have any fun anymore like yeah like when it really doesn't make any sense to to use a cab
right yeah
Where it's way more comfortable
To to have your your monitors your heavy monitors and have like an IR loader which does the job?
maybe a lot better than like a
Ridiculously quiet yes sure I mean I'm not sure and well
Let's see let's see we got to go skeptical so we have a what is that Rev generator 120?
Yes, which is the the big one the big boy? Yes has like?
So a lot of channels yeah, channels lots of look lovely colored lots of things, but the clean channel sounds lovely
So there's there is nothing else there's just guitar straight to a clean channel now. This is really really quiet
Sounds is we literally never play that quiet no motion no unless we're going. Oh my god. It's so quiet
You can talk over it. Yeah. Yeah, yep, so
Now that's a couple of overdrive pedals with that, so we've got the Kingsley Paige
And then the DeAndre
You
It's not the robber killing them Robert cheeley
Okay, well, I'll tell you how I tell you how quiet it's too quiet for me
Straight off the old there mm-hmm is when you can hear that clack of the yeah electronics. Oh, yeah is
There and there sound really interesting about that when you a lot of guys who?
Who are filming guitar videos and they're using the mark on the camera they condenser mic yeah, and you can hear
Yeah above that
He you know you're hearing that
Yeah sure Bonjour, we're eight through six up to make money
So just because it's compressing all the sounds yeah
Even though in the room might not be that loud what you're hearing is that including everything clean
The part of that can actually sound really good because you're getting this really instant attack
Yeah, there's just used used to be used in jazz recording a lot where they with Mike the sound of the plectrum
on the strings as well as the
Okay alright, so how is that amp feeling to you?
the in the clean setting, it's
It's too quiet
Yeah
it's for me to use as a thing that really gets me going I'd need to certainly give it some some love however as a
bass
tone for
For this
Situation it's comfortable. It's not letting me go
Yeah
But I'm comfy, okay. I want to do a quick tangent. No I noticed that Dan and Chris have
Extremely nice Telly's and I'll be there. I'll be there independent
Media rehear saying that as examples of their breed
Round lamb board 63 style rosewood board telly
50 style
Black art. They are two of the best Telly's I've ever heard so come on give us gifts couple chords
I want you to go back as before it sinks hanged alright
You start in just a second, so we just choose am any major how many measure was the best called every
so
Nothing on mr.. Quest it so way morale
Louder doesn't mean better. Let's just get that said I mean
when we set up levels for that pedal show I always get down to
Honest honest Tom string because it is this and that's seven to seven point two K that bridge pick up seven points a game
Something no reason why it should be the way it is
It could be wood, but that doesn't count them we know that no doesn't go
So so Chris. What are you feeling through the redness, so let's get you plugged in just have a twinkle
You
Kind of feels like you have a really nice a driver's car
Where a hand right now sits like one like in
it it feels very rich and nice and
Really comfy but it's
Relaxed because my dad makes you think exactly because when you're digging in
It doesn't give you anything. Yeah, so this is one of the things about that amplifiers and this is
This is a really important thing just because the amplifier is really loud
It doesn't necessarily mean you're going to kill everyone in the room it just means
When you want to go there?
You know have that dynamic range that when you dig in it it sub works with you. Yeah
But at the moment wouldn't you know with the same sounds?
And that saw the sound it leads you under play a sort of a
Not sort of an anemic way, but it's kind of very like you know well, there's no it's just unsatisfied. There's no
If you've never experienced a really loud the couples with the guitar because there's an acoustic coupling that I don't know the technical
Explanation for it, but it's obviously got a buddy to do with frequency and resonance
But you feel when you feel the amp you feel that guitar resonating
Yeah, they say on the body resonate and the the the whole thing creates a feedback loop. No it is it is
um
You know we can't all have that all the time no so
our options are
The tone itself is actually nice. Yeah, the tone itself is
Satisfying and round I've given it a little bit of a of an ache you push
Just a tiny tiny bit of a push
It's such a subtle difference, but it makes it
Yeah, it's quite. It doesn't know cuz your frequencies change you're going against the laws of Fletcher Munson there
Torpedo Vs. The Real Deal!
Yeah, but it also um the ovaries I've turned that curves because I had a bit of a play with yet before okay
So all depends on what's going into you
fair enough for morning queue, yeah
So okay, um so that's that's the air nice yeah, I'm comfortable. You know none of us are playing outside ourselves
Because you know we're not like you
Know I mean, I couldn't you couldn't hold a note and get feedback though. No no that's not gonna, but its pleasant
I kept saying now
We're gonna be getting through a cab simulator
So what's gonna happen is the output from this out before now this at the moment going into the speed cab
will be
Disconnected speaker will be disconnected and then that will go to studio monitors, so it's going through the two notes
totally, you know studio very good, which is let me get this right low books yes and
full of fires
Yes
I offer anyone doesn't know this impulse response which is a digital version of the sound of a space or a speaker?
Which is moving in creating Kirkman season yeah, and it's done with magic
Ramirez in ones and zeroes mirrors
And yeah, so this is the so again
Sound or the amplified, and I've just got I do have a couple of fix on here, but into this. It's telling lovely warm
Okay, I can work with that the one has to turn up yes
Interesting okay
I'm gonna give it a go quickly
You
Okay, so my first impression is that?
Coming out of the monitor sounds like a recorded guitar. Yeah, right now interesting because the experience in the room is
vastly different
But I'm wondering can't wait to hear what I hear what?
Yeah, well that kind of it's so doing that reminded me of my time on guitars magazine so we
saw his magazine for a long time and
we used to do lots of lots and lots of I was scared and I was and
The way we did it in the studio was
in order to
Ease a production all the rest of the blah blah blah
We'd be listening to a studio and was almost like right, so you wouldn't be the amp might be going
but it wouldn't be going very loud and
Chances were you were listening to studio monitors a lot of the time to lay down track parts and all the rest of it
having since had the experience that we've had on that panel show where we sit there and just turn out some loud all day and
Thinking back to gigs and stuff. That is a more inspiring
Way for me to every eight yeah, however, however if I've got to do something quick at home. We create something
I've got to just knock down something really quickly that I'm familiar with I'm really happy using that kind of sound yeah
Because I'm not worried about the field too much. I know I'm just worried about getting one notice down. Yeah
yeah, because I don't there's no creative process in that it's just playing yeah, but
Yeah, I all when we were playing through the monitors all I was hearing with studio monitors. Yeah, yeah, and noticing a
Latency a lifetime between this and that okay, let's quickly do that again, but with a higher gain sound okay, UK but yep
Can we start with the yeah the cab
Okay
Well I want to hear it strap
Very interesting very interesting safe way to wrap up yeah conclusions
Can we make collusion until we hear it back, but yes the experience of being in the room just with the cab
Doing what cab do?
It's it's a visceral experience even at this level
It's a it's a vastly different person hearing it through now it is
Two things I would say come on
I wasn't sure if I was deliberately trying to play something tricky so that I could see
whether I could cope with latency or not -
It's amazing how quickly your ears become accustomed to it. Yeah sure yeah very true
I also have one or two things first of all
The more a game you add it. Yep - the less uncomfortable. Yeah, yeah playing playing with the 30 monitors
For someone compressed, it's more. You know so it
yeah, but when you have a very tone falls that sort of logo there then the harmonics that are involved in that and then I
think the difference is
Certainly in this environment. Yeah a more apparent very good and the other thing what I think is
It's the real reason for these stuff to exist at all
I was really struggling for a long time like we have pretty good power soaks already
Yeah, so you know yeah, why even more quiet, but actually the point what you what you made with with the?
Look you know when you when you record out and reliably said amp you have all of a sudden such problems like yeah
Yeah, the trail or like you know the metro next sorry mic and so for the horses or the yeah written bail
Yeah, I mean haven't listened to anything reveal that sounds recorded his house
He uses one of these and he sends us an amazing
So it is another piece of technology that you need to know the unit now so but it's very interesting so
Would be really interested to see what you guys think yeah
Yeah, I mean like and the one comment you're not allowed to write is oh my god
If you just set it up different set the EQ differently what it sounded so much. Yeah because
We can't spend a little while doing that before the yeah
And we our point was not to prove that it sounds exactly the same. You know I was just to to
Talk a little bit about feelings. You know how it feels to play a far better feeling
Brian thank you so much guys. It's been a pleasure to be on your toes

Kardashian Goat Yoga | Kevin Hart: What The Fit Episode 4 | Laugh Out Loud Network - Duration: 13:25.
( upbeat music )
Kevin: I'm with my girl, my good friend.
I'm with Khloe Kardashian.
How are you, first of all? -I'm good, how are you?
-I'm great.
Congratulations to you
and everything you've been doing.
-Thank you, same with you.
-Revenge Body.
-Yup. -Dope as hell.
-Thank you. -Okay, that's the reason
why you got this phone call,
first and foremost.
-( laughing )
-A lot of newfound passion for fitness.
-Well, for me, it was something that I was able to control,
and I didn't realize... -Mmhm.
...how good it felt to be in control of your own body.
-I like it.
-And it's an hour I could zone everyone out.
I'm clearheaded, I could listen to music,
and I'm just like by myself
and I'm just allowed to be me.
-What I wanted to do with you today is...
some yoga, but there's like,
it's a different type of yoga.
It's not just yoga. Let's embrace the weird.
-Okay, what is the weird? -So, they got...
goat yoga.
-( western music plays )
-Why would there be goats in your yoga class?
-I know that's what you're gonna say.
Because there's something about like the goats...
-Okay.
-being around you,
and the baby goat is like,
-( laughing ).
-Yo, it's a thing, like I'm not playing.
-Khloe: Okay. -It's really a thing.
-Yoga with goats.
Like, I just don't really get how Zen we're gonna be, -( laughing )
-Like is it gonna ( bleep ) everywhere,
like piss on us? -If a goat--if a goat pee on you
while you're on your-- while you're on your pose.
That's disgusting, I don't know. -Is Peta gonna come like
if we like... -I don't know.
All right, what if-- what if we up the ante,
right? -Khloe: Okay.
-Why don't we get a stranger to partake
on our adventure with us?
I say let's go pick up a random person
on the street to join us.
This goat yoga class could be weird
and there's safety in numbers.
-Okay.
-Trader Joe's. -Very healthy.
Their mind is right. -Yeah, people like...
-They might wanna do yoga?
Yeah. -And you know what? Now you get it.
-Yup.
-Now, you're here with me.
-We're--you know, we're in tuned. -Now you're here with me.
-Yeah, you can't pull up at a Ralphs.
-No, nobody's gonna take... -Now you're trying...
-No, it's all the processed food.
-Yeah, we're gonna die. -No one--yeah.
-We're gonna die. -Right.
-( upbeat music )
-Look at this guy. -Khloe: You know you're a douche
when you wear your shirt like that.
-Kevin: No, no, no, that guy, no.
-I don't like this guy. -Like he went to Yale
and he graduated the top of his class.
And he's not happy with his... -Look at his walk though,
he is strutting his stuff. -Kevin: He's not happy with...
his current life decision.
-And she looks not happy. Not at all.
-Kevin: Boy, she's having trouble with the cart...
-Khloe: Yeah, she's having trouble with the cart.
She can't handle goat yoga. -No, no.
Oh, look at her in the workout tights.
Workout tights is a good sign.
Excuse me, excuse me.
Question, I know this seems weird,
but I need you to embrace this moment from one second.
First of all, what's your name?
-Cecelia. -Kevin: Cecelia.
Hi, I'm Kevin Hart. -Khloe: Perfect name.
-This is Khloe right here. -Hi.
-Cecelia, we're going on an adventure.
-Okay. -Kevin: And we're nervous
about the adventure that we are partaking in.
This is true, this is total honesty right now.
We are going to...
take a yoga class now, right? -Okay.
-And you're perfectly dressed for. -That's why.
We stopped you because you had on tights.
You had on headphones.
You look like you work out,
and we said,
"What if we got a person that's a stranger,
a third person takes some of the edge
because our nervous energy gets transferred to you,
and now we got a thing."
-Yeah, why not. -Kevin: You can do it?
-Sure. -Khloe: Goat Yoga.
-Kevin: This will be goat yoga. It's gonna be goats and (bleep).
-What?
-It's gonna be goats. -Goats,
like animals. -Kevin: Goats.
If you wanna go, we can have our people come
give you a release form.
They'll mic you up. -Is that like right now?
-Kevin: Yes. -Right now.
-Okay, sure, let's do it. -Kevin: Nice, nice, I did it.
-We're... -What is it?
-Man: ( indistinct ) here.
Okay, we're gonna need back to your spot here.
-Man: Whenever you're ready, Kev.
-Handshake, first and foremost.
Okay. -Hello.
-Hello. -Hello.
-Nice to meet you.
Do you wanna sit in the middle?
-Kevin: Yeah, get in the middle, that way we can both talk to.
Hey, guys, you know, I'm not big with the whole fame thing,
but now I'm really thinking back on it. I feel like the reaction
should have been a lot bigger
when you saw me, like... -Or both of us.
-Yeah, like you were just like, "wazzup?"
-Hey, it's LA.
That's the problem.
-Yeah.
Kevin: She was so like, "Yo, what up?" -( laughing ).
-Kevin: You know what you should do?
You should actually call somebody.
Call one of those relatives... -Oh, my God, stop, what?
-Call somebody, and so-- just so they know,
give somebody a call, hey, just wanna let you know,
Kevin Hart, Khloe Kardashian picked me up.
I'm gonna go do some goat yoga, if something happens to me...
-It's kind of like how can you say no, you know.
-Yeah, you can't, but still, let people know.
-Or maybe just make someone aware
of where you are, you are in a car
with two strangers.
-Cecelia: Yeah, I'll call Z, ( phone rings )
-Z, this is Khloe Kardashian.
How are you?
-Z, it is. -No, it's me, it's Khloe.
I'm with Kevin Hart.
-Hi, Z.
Hi, Z.
-I did exactly what you tell me not to do,
so I completely jumped into a stranger's car.
-So, we just picked up your friend at Trader Joe's,
and she is going in the car with us to do goat yoga.
-No, she willingly came in the car.
-If Kevin Hart and Khloe Kardashian
are in a car, and you're going to Trader Joe's
after the gym, do you say yes,
and you get in the (bleep) car, right?
-You get in the car.
-These girls aren't gonna make it to 40.
They're gonna be dead.
-( Dance of the Hours plays )
( goats bleating)
-Meredith: (laughing).
-Meredith: We're gonna start.
-Kevin: Hello.
-Khloe: Hi. -Kevin: Hey, right.
-Meredith: Welcome. -Hi, I'm Khloe.
-Meredith ( indistinct ) nice to meet you.
-This is amazing. -Kevin: This is it, hu?
-Meredith: Come on in. -Khloe: Hi, little goat.
-All right, hello. -Meredith: Hi.
Welcome to goat yoga.
-( goat bleating )
-Meredith: Have you ever interacted with goats before?
-Kevin: Not one bit, not one bit.
-Meredith: No? Oh, my God.
-Kevin: No. -You have dogs?
-I do have dogs. -Well, there you go.
Just think of them as little puppies.
Kevin: Well, they're a little different.
Definitely a little different. -Meredith: Come on in, I'll show you.
Okay, can I watch you all for a little bit?
-No, come on and...
Kev, get your ass over here.
-Okay, okay. -Yeah, come on.
They have no boundaries, the goats.
They do eat whatever is around them.
The little ones will come and sit on your back.
The goats might jump on you now,
might jump on you later,
might come back to you now.
-Here, Kev, this one's here for you.
-Jesus Christ, come on, Khloe.
Okay.
-Meredith: Would you like to feed one?
They eat very fast, okay?
-Okay. -Well, don't eat me.
-Just as an understanding,
guys, I don't wanna disrupt the class.
I wanna embrace what this is.
Oh, wait, what the (bleep)? -Meredith: Okay.
This segues us.
This is the segue into the next part of goat yoga,
which is they are goats.
( goat bleats)
- Ah!
( class laughs )
-I'm so sorry.
-Meredith: So they do pee and poop.
It happens,
and the good news is it's like life.
There comes a little poop in your way and what do you do?
You just move it over
and keep on going with your life.
-Well, that's not-- that's not what I do.
I normally go to the bathroom.
I'm inside of a bathroom when it happens, you know,
-Meredith: Yeah, but the goats, they go where they go.
-Oh, that one's peeing -Meredith: Yeah, see?
-Kevin: Okay, guys, what is--okay.
All right, okay. -Yeah, that happens.
-Yeah. -Meredith: Yes, this happens.
-Kevin: All right, that one's eating a paper towel.
-Meredith: Well why don't you do this?
-Just sit down. -Meredith: Yes, sit down.
-Yeah, I'll just sit down. -Meredith: Sit down.
-They eat anything.
-They are savages.
-There's no respect for anybody's property
or nothing with these goats.
-Meredith: I'm gonna put the paper towels here.
-Kevin: Feeling all right? -Meredith: Okay, now...
-Glad you came, you're all right.
-Meredith: Why don't we just roll over onto all fours.
I would invite you to take your shoes and socks off.
-You know what, just in case I got to get up and run.
Uh-uh. -Okay.
-Kevin: I'm just gonna keep mine on and not--and not,
you know, no disrespect to the process.
-Meredith: All right, so, you see?
They jump on people's backs.
-Kevin: Oh, God. -Khloe: Oh, my God.
-Kevin: Oh, my God. -Meredith: I'll just to tell you.
They do like to eat hair.
It reminds them of the farm. -Kevin: Oh, oh.
Oh, he ate her hair. -Yeah.
-Kevin: Oh.
I don't wanna stop him from that?
-Meredith: So, that's some of the stuff
that happens in goat yoga.
It's like--call it like a little goat massage.
-Oh, oh, Khloe, he about to jump up on me.
Come on, brother, don't bring it over here, man.
Please don't bring it over here, man.
-Meredith: Okay, so take an inhale
and bring your right leg up behind you.
And then flex your foot a lot.
Bring your inner thigh towards the sky.
There's a lot of things to focus on
when you're here in goat yoga,
but the good news is, if you're conscious
and you're present, which you totally are.
-Khloe: This big one is peeing.
-Kevin: Come on, come on, come on.
Come on, guys, all right.
At some point, we have to acknowledge
what's going on, you know.
-It's about to ( bleep ) on your thing.
-Come on, come on, buddy.
Come on, buddy. -Meredith: He likes this spot.
Yeah, I don't-- for some reason, he likes you. -Kevin: Y'all telling me
this is what it is? -Everyone is ( bleep ) on your thing.
-Meredith: Kevin, let me tell you.
This is part of goat yoga,
because it resembles life,
-Got you.
-Meredith: --poop happens.
Do we really wanna hang there?
Or do we wanna take this as an opportunity
to move forward? -Oh, I feel it now.
-Meredith: Do you see that? -Okay.
- Hang in the ( bleep ). -So, either you can hang in the ( bleep ), Kevin,
or you can take the opportunity--
-Khloe: Kevin, let's rise above.
-Meredith: --to rise above and move forward.
-Cradle a goat. -I just wanna
bring some attention to the fact that...
there's no ( bleep ) around anybody else's mat except mine.
-Meredith: Because when you resist,
it persists, didn't you ever hear that in life?
-Ooh. -Kevin: Okay.
-Meredith: How's that? -Okay.
I hear you. -Khloe: His ( bleep ) ass mat.
Meredith: And this is the good news,
it just comes right off. -It's ( bleep ).
-Okay. -All right.
-Meredith: So, now just take yourself
and push yourself back into child's pose.
So, bring your sit bones towards your ankles.
-Kevin: Ah, ah, ah.
-Let me call the goat over. -Kevin: Oh, ( bleep ).
Oh, ( bleep ).
Meredith: You're the goat whisperer.
-( suspenseful music )
-Meredith: Just take a big inhale in.
-I want no problems, bruh.
-Kevin: Khloe.
-Meredith: Just take a few breaths.
Come on, guys. -What have you got me into?
-Kevin: I don't know, but I'm looking
through my situation down here.
And that's why I'm peeking at these goats.
Oh, geez, they just hopping up
on all these people back there.
-Khloe: Oh, oops, sorry goat. -Meredith: There you go.
-Kevin: There you go, Khloe, and let's see what he does.
Don't resist. Persist. -Meredith: It's okay. Oh.
-Khloe: Oh, oh, yeah.
-Kevin: Right, there you go, there you go, good, Khloe.
-If it ( bleep ) on me, I'm ( bleep ) on you.
-No, it's not ( bleep ) on you, he's totally--
he's going to the next back.
He's a back hopper, he's a back hopper.
It's basically about the ass.
-Basically. -Kevin: Yeah, that's what they--
oh, ah, ahh.
-Okay, push yourself back ( indistinct ) and push.
Oh.
-They're not even on yet. -Okay.
-Okay, ready?
-Ahh. -Meredith: You see?
How about that-- there--look at.
Can you even feel that?
-Yup. -Meredith: There you go.
-Khloe: This is a perfect fit for you.
-Meredith: You know what, everything you want
is on the other side
of fear, Kevin, and look at it.
-Is he eating my hair? -Meredith: No.
-He likes sponge. You don't have a sponge.
-Ahh, he's eating my hair. -Meredith: No, that's me.
-Kevin: All right, all right. -Meredith: Okay.
So now, Kevin, from there,
I want you to lift your back leg up.
-Oh, what?
-Yup, come in to tabletop.
-What the (bleep) is tabletop?
-Move your--move your thighs back a little bit
so you're in tabletop position,
so your knees are underneath... -Kevin: Oh, oh, okay.
And this is about balancing while the goat is on me?
-Yes, balance while the goat is on--now, you got it.
Now, lift your leg, lift your arm.
Yeah. -There we go.
-There you go. -It's--this is almost...
-And just breathe. -Kevin: I'm breathing so--
and this is making me closer with the earth.
-It's making you closer with the earth.
Well, you're lifting them up. -It's about to ( bleep ) on your head.
-Kevin: No, yo, yo, yo, he ( bleep ), Khloe?
No, don't let this doe ( bleep ) on me.
-No, he's not. -Is he turtle heading?
Is he turtle heading, Khloe?
Is he turtle heading?
This goat will have a problem.
Khloe, stop playing, man.
Come on, come on.
All right, all right.
-Now allow your leg to go down, back. -You can put your leg down.
-Meredith: Have your knee connect, perfect.
-Oh, my God. -Meredith: There you go.
-Oh. -Meredith: Good job.
-They have names or no?
-Meredith: Yes, and that one's name is Kevin.
No wonder why he likes you so much.
-You guys look the exact same. -Kevin: That's just--yeah.
-Meredith: Yeah, see? -I got it, brother.
-Meredith: They say people look like their dogs
and so there you go.
-Kevin: Yeah, that's good, one of the best compliments
I've ever received.
-Meredith: Why don't we have everybody grab a goat?
And when you pick up a goat,
make sure you're underneath.
-Let's have everybody that comes here
regularly grab the goats first.
Make sure you guys all get a goat.
-Right underneath his legs.
Yeah, there you go.
-What's it eating? -Meredith: Yeah.
You got it.
Now, turn towards me.
Or face the platform, -Kevin: Oh it stank.
-and then, we're gonna balance into tree pose.
-Khloe, don't drop that goat. -This is a big one.
-Kevin: Khloe, don't drop that goat.
-Oh, my God. -I gave Khloe the big one.
-Khloe is strong.
She's got this, we gave you Kevin.
-Khloe's goat, that ate some goats.
-Meredith: Yes, finally ( indistinct )
-Kevin: Okay.
Oh, I feel it.
-( goat bleating )

Cat Sitting Adventure - Duration: 5:04.
Hello.
(siren noise in background)
Ignore the sirens.
But I am packing up my backpack
because I am going to be staying at my friend Caitlin's
house for this weekend.
Because I'm going to cat sit her cats
while she's at WonderCon.
I thought I'd take you with me because
I really like cats and I wanna share them with you.
So let's go!
(loud bang noise)
Woah, I forgot this elevator
is so loud okay I'm gunna go see the cats.
I'm so excited!
I also know a lot of you have never
met Caitlin which you will because we're going to be doing
a fun video soon.
I hope Caitlin feels jealous that her cats
made it on my channel before her.
So, (mocking sounds)
Hi
Hello
Please get inside.
I don't want to lose you.
Hi
hello
Do you remember me?
Do you remember me?
So this handsome guy
is Noah.
(giggles)
And this is Ripley.
The one who stares into your soul.
She's so cute.
I have to feed them now.
Gotta feed them.
I can't remember.
I know I get the dry food and then I get a little bit of the wet food.
We're gunna wing it!
Or I'm just gunna like low key over feed her cats
but honestly...
that's fine. (laughs)
Hi
This isn't for you!
I mean it is but like
Whatcha doing?
And I gotta put one in here.
You better not climb up there.
I think there was...yes.
So now I have to take this
it's moving.
And put a little bit in their food.
I think.
So this is the spoon that I need to use.
It's cat spoon.
And I just put a little bi- I'm not showing you this
because like cat food is gross.
Hi, excuse me?
Excuse me, hi.
Thank you.
I think this is it.
(laughs nervously)
Wow!
There you go, have fun.
Cool.
I guess that's it.
I'm just gunna chill here because I might go out tonight.
And then I'll come back and then
hang out, sleep here, feed them in the morning.
And mmmm Caitlin comes home.
This is simple, cat sitting is simple.
And now he's just so friendly.
Oh cat kisses!
Hi!
Ripley's like under the couch I think.
Yeah?
But Ripley likes this toy.
So maybe she'll come out.
Ooh!
(laughs)
It's the next day.
What a night.
I forgot that cats wake up at night.
And they like do things.
So Noah was running around
making noise and then he would be chewing on like
his toys but my brain because I grew up having dogs
would just hear like the crackling sounds
of some of the toys and my brain's like
"oh my god he's eating something he's not suppose to".
So then I had to rush to get my glasses on
and then he's just being a normal cat being happy with his toys.
Noah was cute because Noah kept like
wanting to cuddle.
Ripley like is just an anxious cat
so she's just mad and doesn't want to have anything to do with me.
And hisses.
So yeah, I slept on this couch.
And then I fed them at 6am because they were meowing
and that's the time they normally eat so
I am so sorry Caitlin that that's what you have to do.
They are sleeping on the bed.
Look at them.
Look at Noah.
She's probably going to hiss at me
if I put this in her face.
Oh no, she's not.
Awh so cute.
So they've just been chilling here all morning.
All morning.
Cool.
So that's it, I just have to feed them.
Before I leave, Caitlin is gunna come back.
So that was my adventure baby sitting cats.
Wasn't that interesting for any of you.
But if you like cats you got to see cats.
So I hope you enjoy that.
(singing) Angelical cats, gelical cats.

F Blues Guitar Survival Kit - What You Need to know - Duration: 8:58.
(jazz guitar music)
- Hi everybody, my name is Jens Larsen.
This video is going to go over
the basic things, that you need to check out,
if you wanna play a jazz blues in the key of F.
So I'm gonna do this in four choruses,
the first chorus is just gonna be some chord voicings,
so that you can play through the blues comping it
and you can hear what the harmony sounds like.
The second chorus is going to be arpeggios of those chords,
so that you have somewhere to start,
when you're soloing and once you can play,
soloing with arpeggios and follow the harmony,
then you can add some more notes
by using some of the scale exercises,
I'm covering that in the third chorus
and the fourth chorus
is just the transcription of me improvising a solo,
using the material that I went over.
If you wanna learn more about jazz guitar,
about improvising over chord changes,
checking out some interesting arpeggios or scales,
then subscribe to my channel.
If you wanna make sure not to miss anything,
then click the little bell notification icon.
It's just the way that you are also
approaching a progression like the 12-Bar Blues,
so really digging into the arpeggios and the scales
or do you have another approach,
so you're working with maybe Pentatonic scales
or do you have another great exercise,
if you do, then leave a comment,
I know I'm really curious and I'm pretty sure
that if somebody is watching this video,
then they're also interested in what you have to share
and also I think you'll find,
if you're looking for other information on this,

Wow 2019 Jaguar F Pace SVR : 550 HP SUV - Duration: 3:22.
Sex sells, but so do SUVs.
Since the Jaguar F-Pace went on sale two years ago, the sport-luxury SUV has not only been
topping the automaker's sales charts, but it's also earned comparison test victories
and even an SUV of the Year finalist nod.
Impressive considering the F-Pace is the first-ever SUV from an automaker known for sports cars,
big grand tourers, and luxury sedans.
Three years into the F-Pace's life cycle, Jag is finally leveraging its sports car and
GT expertise for the F-Pace, resulting in the V-8-powered, 550-hp 2019 Jaguar F-Pace
SVR.
The heart of any performance Jaguar is its engine, and despite being the largest Jag
the automaker's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team has yet worked on, the new F-Pace
SVR is no different.
Under its new vented hood sits JLR's tried-and-true 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 breathing out a
how-is-that-street-legal F-Type-inspired active exhaust system.
The British blower produces 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque, an even 170 hp and lb-ft
more than the supercharged V-6-powered F-Pace S and the same power as the heavier Range
Rover Sport SVR it shares its engine with.
The new F-Pace SVR's power is routed through an eight-speed automatic to Jaguar's torque-vectoring
all-wheel-drive system, which now sports a new electronic differential at the rear.
Jag says its newest F-Pace will do 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and that it has a top speed
of 176 mph.
SVO didn't just perform a heart transplant and call it a day; it also worked hard to
ensure the F-Pace SVR's prodigious power is actually usable.
Its new front and rear fascia plus its new spoiler work to reduce lift and improve aerodynamics,
and a stiffer adaptive suspension system and more rigid chassis combines with a revised
electric power-steering system to keep the shiny side up during spirited driving.
At each corner sit uprated two-piece brakes (15.5 inches up front and 15.6 inches in back)
that are both lighter and larger than the standard F-Pace's, and it has larger wheels,
too.
Twenty-one-inch wheels are standard, while 22-inch wheels are optional.
Both wheel designs are optimized to increase airflow to the Jaguar's brakes.
No matter the wheel choice, the F-Pace SVR has tires that are almost an inch wider than
the F-Pace S', which hopefully should translate into better grip and more inspiring handling
characteristics.
Often it can take a year for a new model to make it from auto show to dealer showroom,
but that won't be the case for the 2019 Jaguar F-Pace SVR—the new performance SUV
hits Jaguar dealers this summer, stickering for $80,985.

BASICALLY
You may have noticed that there is no new videos for about a year on this channel, because of a project that takes much time and money
BUT
We want to come back and do covers again, because we're done with not doing anything on this channel and we want to have sum funz, but we have some questions and need your opinion

We'll give you some updates, what has improved, what's new, what we wanna do and what we're planning to do
Mixing/mastering has been improved since last covers, or so I was told, and I'd like your opinion on it !
What you hear is entirely done by me , except for the drums (Nobu and I changed our recording setup, now being MIDI) The drums are more focused and precise now !
I will become HS's guitar player, until someone can take away this PITA. I don't like playing it, but I'm ready to take responsibility for the covers' sake. Prepare for the 0-f***s-given attitude about it though. LOL
Lineup has changed, with a new member coming soon, and new instruments (more details later), and of course... No singer still.
We'd now like to have your opinions on a few points, comments helping us are appreciated !
1°. Instrumental covers with no video, done only by me, in addition to group instrumental covers with video, would you like these ?
2°. We play VK, J-Rock, etc. Would you like to see more metal/rock genre covers, or any else ?

Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak Pickup Concept: It Could Happen! - Duration: 6:53.
Now that Volkswagen is playing in nearly every automotive segment in America, it's only
logical that the automaker would seriously consider fielding a pickup here.
Although it's officially just a concept at this point, the Volkswagen Atlas–based
Tanoak pickup seems like an obvious play.
After all, VW has been talking about it for years, and with the Chattanooga-built Atlas
SUV's MQB architecture providing a sturdy base to build on—as well as a convenient
way to sidestep the import duty on trucks—it seems as if the planets may have finally aligned.
Here's complete information on the Atlas Tanoak concept to keep you busy until the
official word comes down.
MQB PU Considering Volkswagen's history of odd
names such as Touareg and Tiguan, you will be relieved to learn that the name Tanoak
contains no tongue-twisting idiosyncrasies.
It is simply the common name for Notholithocarpus densiflorus, an evergreen tree common to the
U.S. Pacific region, and it is pronounced "tan oak," like the tree.
Built on the same MQB architecture that underpins the Atlas SUV, the Tanoak pickup concept stretches
in nearly every dimension.
At 214.1 inches, it's 15.8 inches longer than the Atlas overall, and its 128.3-inch
wheelbase outstretches the SUV's by 11.0 inches.
The Tanoak's quoted width and height are 1.6 and 2.6 inches more expansive than those
of the Atlas; the concept's claimed 9.8-inch ground clearance certainly plays into the
height gain, with VW saying the pickup allows about two inches more room between its chassis
and the road.
(If you're curious, these dimensions make the concept about half a foot longer than
the Amarok pickup that VW sells in Europe.)While it has no ready comparisons in Volkswagen's
lineup here, VW calls the pickup's cargo hold a short bed.
It measures 64.1 inches long (90.2 inches with the tailgate lowered), 57.1 inches wide,
and—crucially for the vaunted four-by-eight-foot sheet-goods requirement—50.4 inches between
the wheel wells.
The short bed on a crew-cab Ford F-150 measures 67.1 inches in length and 50.6 inches between
the wheel wells.
The Atlas Tanoak, however, like the Honda Ridgeline, uses unibody construction, making
it a better basis for comparison.
Overall, the VW concept is 4.1 inches longer than the Honda on a 3.1-inch-longer wheelbase.
The Ridgeline's bed measures 64.0 inches long and 50.0 inches between the wheel wells.
The drivetrain is straight-up Atlas, with the Tanoak concept employing the same 3.6-liter
V-6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission as the SUV's optional six-cylinder.
Producing 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, it's a combo that has impressed
us in the Atlas.
Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system with Active Control distributes the torque
as needed, and several driver-selectable modes are available to tailor traction for dry,
wet, slick, or unpaved surfaces.
And, yes, the concept has a two-speed transfer case, although VW offered no details beyond
the assertion that low range exists.
Volkswagen says the Atlas Tanoak will sprint to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds, which seems reasonable
given that the same feat took 7.9 seconds in our test of a V-6 Atlas SUV.
Full Frontal Unlike the long-forgotten Volkswagen Rabbit
pickup that was all Rabbit to the B-pillar, the Tanoak's frontal treatment sports its
own distinctive grille, hood, headlights, front bumper, and round LED running lamps
that extend into the side profile.
The front skid plate doubles as a sturdy mounting point for a winch.
Rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillar, and the rear fenders are flared
aggressively.
The 20-inch wheels use a mix of aluminum and black color treatments and wear 275/55R-20
tires.Speaking of frontal treatments—and you will find this either appealing or repelling—the
front VW logo illuminates when a door is opened, slowly growing in intensity and reach, with
the light stretching across the grille's crossbars into the headlamp surrounds.
Then the light sweeps out from the logo and back until all of the LED running lamps are
activated.
A similar type of illumination foreplay is staged across the tailgate, where red upper
and lower strips of LEDs transition into the LED taillamps.
We like a bit of vehicular theater now and then, but we hope this is just a concept-car
stunt.
Volkswagen notes that the instruments, center console, and multifunction steering wheel
are heavily redesigned from those of the Atlas SUV, moving most functions, including the
air conditioning, to the touchscreen infotainment system.
Positioned high up for easy operation, it joins the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit screen
to form a digitalized cabin environment.
Ambient interior lighting fluctuates between yellow or blue light at night depending on
whether the vehicle is in off-road or city mode.
Designed as five-seater, the Atlas Tanoak employs sporty seats with lateral reinforcements
in front and back.
A newly designed shifter grip controls the eight-speed automatic transmission, and a
metallic slider selects the driving modes.
Volkswagen says—rather cutely, we might add—"It was intentionally designed to
be very sturdy, so that it can be operated every day by people who are used to driving
a pickup, even while wearing work gloves."
Volkswagen hasn't revealed any data regarding payload, towing, or other statistics critical
to truck owners.
And, unlike the Atlas Cross Sport concept also displayed in New York, there's no talk
of a production schedule or model year when VW will finally make the leap into the U.S.
pickup-truck market.
