Hands-On Review | Fujifilm X-H1 - Duration: 6:58.
Hi, I'm photographer David Flores, hanging out in the park with my pals B&H we're going
to play a little basketball and tryout Fuji's brand-new X-H1.
We're actually shooting this video on the X-H1 let's go check it out.
The X-H1 is Fuji's Flagship camera and it definitely feels that way.
They taken all of the design logic from previous iterations like the XT-2 and the GFX.
Put them into slightly larger magnesium alloy body.
Feels wider it's a much larger handgrip which is a good thing.
The handgrip feels incredible.
If you're coming from a larger single-lens reflex camera, your hand falls right into
the grip perfectly.
It's comfortable--you're ready to shoot.
One of the things that I've come to appreciate about the camera is the EVF extends out from behind
the body.
So, your face doesn't smash against the LCD screen when you're making photograph.
The cameras using a newly developed shutter.
Which is extremely quiet.
It's almost Leaf shutter quiet.
You can make it even quieter by enabling Electronic First Curtain Shutter.
Uses an electronic shutter to begin your exposure closes it with a physical shutter.
If you're shooting it at shutter speeds higher than 1/2000th of a second, that's cool the
camera automatically flips over to Mechanical shutter so you're not having any of the weird
Jello-y effect in your shot.
The LCD screen is incredibly photo centric.
Doesn't flip around, it's not really the best option for a vlogger.
But, if you're shooting in portrait orientation, you can tilt the screen towards you.
I think that's very comfortable if you shoot in a studio space.
That's nice.
If you like composing vertically with an LCD screen this is one of the best that's out
there.
That looks good!
If you like to shoot in a portrait orientation the vertical battery grip gives you all of
the ergonomic controls make that kind of composition, that kind of shot easy.
You've got a joystick, shutter release, dials, everything you want but most impressive
thing is that it enhances performance.
Switch over to boost mode and you're shooting up to 11fps.
For video shooter's it extends the recording time for 4K video recording, go from 15 minutes
all the way up to 30 minutes of recording which is nice.
Essentially, there's 3 batteries working, one in the camera body and 2 in the grip.
The camera is cycling around which battery it's drawing power from.
That helps with heat dispersion and keeps your image clean an artifact free.
The shutters incredibly discreet.
The new design it does produce a sound but not so much so that it would bother an athlete
or take them out of their game.
If you were shooting like the sidelines of the game, no problem.
If you're in the mix of things the camera's not going to take away from the action at
hand.
So, if you used previous cameras, the X-H1 is using a new algorithm for autofocus tracking.
You can customize this in the menu settings based on the type of subject that you're shooting.
We found it very accurate and it on par with a very good DSLR.
Overall the feel is incredibly premium, it's like using a 1 series integrated camera either
from Canon or Nikon.
It's a solid feel.
It's a solid build and the camera is incredibly responsive.
So, if you're used to be image quality from the X-Pro 2 and X-T2, you're getting very
much the same here.
But, the ergonomics in the overall performance of the camera make for a much better user
experience.
So, 5-axis, in-body camera stabilization.
This is something folks requested for a long time from a X-series camera.
it's a feature that really goes beyond improving image quality.
From the user end if you're composing with a longer lens.
I felt this today shooting with the 56mm f1.2 and the 90mm f2.
Really helps keep things straight I was able to keep my concentration on the subject.
When I would move it would follow with me and I don't know what Fuji's doing here
but this is better than any system that I've tried looking through the viewfinder.
With the X-H1, Fuji's really gotten serious about video and one of the things that they've
been pushing higher dynamic range.
In film moving image.
F-log what you can record internally to SD Cards.
Forced us into a base ISO of 800.
Throughout the day we shot most everything and Eterna we tried to get that at dynamic
range 400.
But, that again forced us to a base ISO of 800.
So, what we did as a compromise we kept it in Eterna.
We're shooting at a dynamic range 100.
And even at DR 100 we were forced to use ND filters.
More than any X-Series camera before it the X-H1 has a ton of professional video features.
We shot most of the day DCI 4K at 200 Mbps.
We demo the internal F-log what you can see here.
The Camera even does 5x slow motion at 120fps in HD.
I particularly enjoyed recording my friends in slow motion because, they're not professional
basketball players.
And, this made them look good.
Well I had a great time shooting some b-ball with my friends B&H today.
You know, the XH-1 it's a fantastic jack-of-all-trades camera.
It's Very photo-centric.
I think it's more and more users embrace the professional video features of the camera,
Fuji will add more of those through firmware or through Future models.

A Legacy that Lives On | Ralph Johnson - Duration: 2:09.
Ralph was born in the city of Charleston.
As a little boy, we would go to the Lincoln Theater,
and we came out of the Lincoln, and Ralph saw three Marines.
And, he pulled my hand. He says, "You know what?" He said, "One day I'm going to wear that uniform."
When a grenade comes in, you either grab it and throw it, you jump on it, or you run.
That's all you got chances to do.
A lot of grenades came in, but one came right next to me,
and Johnson jumped on it and covered it and saved my life.
It was his will, and it was God's will.
And what does sacrifice mean to me? Well it's life for me
because if he hadn't have done it, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
So, he gave me my life. So, I guess I've dedicated my life to try to go all over the world,
to Marine bases, to the Army bases, Air Force bases,
and I just thank young people for giving what it takes for our freedom and our way of life.
And, I owe him my life.
The Medal of Honor is the highest medal you can receive,
and to me Ralph had deserved that because he was such a giving person.
When you give your life in the way that he did, I mean what more could you ask?
I'm glad that a ship's gonna be named after him, and a hospital has been named after him,
a street has been named after him.
He deserves it.
Our Navy, our nation honors one of our own
in naming its newest destroyer, the USS Ralph Johnson.
Named for a young Marine who did not hesitate to give his own life to save the lives of his fellow Marines.

When you have a non-career politician as a president who only works for the citizen of
this great nation who placed their trust in him, you can bet that he'll bring a lot
of needed change to the White House.
Although we've seen endless examples of that in his first year, as he checked each
promise off his list that he made to Americans, now we're seeing him make massive visual
changes to the People's House itself, where he calls home.
There's a massive new installment going right outside the White House and certain
citizens who don't agree with him and furious about his sudden, unexpected decision.
President Trump is on a mission to make America great again as his biggest goal while in office.
He's already proven to accomplish that plan with bringing back jobs and resuscitating
the deeply devastated economy.
He has managed to accomplish these things in record time by putting his focus on massive
issues and oversights that his predecessor did not, mostly because they weren't important
to Barack Hussein Obama who had misplaced priorities.
However, there's one issue deep and dear to Trump which affects the heart of America
that he's putting an incredible focus on by what he's having installed right outside
the White House.
Regardless of what it represents, his racist detractors are irate that he would do this,
without realizing what they're really saying in hating on this important installation.
This pretty much proves that the president, no matter what incredible bi-partisan thing
he does, is judged for all the wrong reasons no matter what.
It's damned if you do, damned if you don't, so he just sticks to what he knows in his
heart is right.
Trump has made it known that there has been a long-ignored epidemic in this country that
needs immediate attention.
Nothing is killing Americans more than the opioid crisis, which he has made his personal
mission to combat while in office.
While death by this addiction is certainly unfortunate, the true victims are the ones
left behind and alone after losing a loved one caught in this dangerous epidemic that's
spiraled out of control.
Those are the people who have been ignored but are now getting the attention they deserve
with what Trump has done for them outside the White House.
Washington Post reports:
The White House next month will host a memorial installation that will depict the 22,000 people
who died in 2015 from a prescription opioid overdose.
The memorial will be hosted by the National Park Service and the nonprofit National Safety
Council and will be placed on the White House Ellipse, home of the National Christmas Tree.
"This stirring exhibit will be open to the public from April 12 through April 18 to educate
visitors on the devastating impact of the opioid crisis," White House press secretary
Sarah Sanders said during her opening remarks at the press briefing Tuesday.
It is part of the National Safety Council's "Stop Everyday Killers" campaign and shows
a wall of engraved pills depicting the faces of people who died.
Next to them is a note memorializing their lives.
It has toured in other U.S. cities, including Chicago and Pittsburgh.
"These stories are tough to hear, and this exhibit will be an intensely emotional and
somber experience," Sanders said.
"But it's also a reminder that lives are at stake, and we must take action to end the
plague of addiction that is ravaging communities all across our nation."
The attention needs to be on this immense issue, but Trump's detractors want to keep
it on themselves have attempted to do so by creating racism in this important memorial.
According to The Root:
Can someone tell me where the crack memorial is in Washington, D.C.?
Seriously, where is the wall with the list of names of all the people gone too soon to
the drug that ravaged the black community?
Or, even more so, where can I find the heroin memorial in Baltimore?
Baltimore has been pegged the heroin capital of America, with as many as 1 out of 10 residents
struggling with the highly addictive narcotic, so surely there is some kind of commemorative
statue to honor the lives lost to this epidemic.
The whitest news to ever come out of the White House happened Tuesday as the president of
little pickup trucks with fat tires announced how happy he was to announce the addition
of an opioid memorial in President's Park coming in April.
I'm baffled by the casual causality of this shit.
You'd think they'd have enough awareness to note the racial disparity in sentencing
during the crack epidemic vs. the opioid epidemic to say that a memorial for addicts lost to
a drug that disproportionately affects white people might be a bridge too far.
It's a sick assertion for this liberal, racist to make since they would attack him
tenfold had he done the same kind of memorial in black neighborhoods.
Drugs don't discriminate, they are all an issue that plagues all parts of society now
more than ever, regardless of race.
African Americans are as hooked on opioids as whites, as the number one drug epidemic
in America.
If Trump were to target crack use among black communities they would condemn him for claiming
blacks were predominately more addicted to crack than whites, even though they themselves
just admitted it in their argument against a good thing he's doing now that Obama never
cared about.

What do you want from me?
Comfortable? Good?
Do you think you want to make a lot of money,
and only do something that is comfortable and fun?

just ahead of the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.
Around 30 years ago in 1987, North Korea had suggested forming a 'neutral state' on the
Korean peninsula to form a buffer zone... according to declassified diplomatic documents.
The 230-thousand-page documents disclosed by the Foreign Ministry on Friday revealed
this proposal by the North, which was passed on in secret through Mikhail Gorbachev, then
leader of the Soviet Union,... to then U.S. President Ronald Reagan, during a summit held
at the White House on December 9th, 1987.
The contents of this proposal include withdrawing all foreign military presence from the Korean
peninsula, writing up a peace treaty, and the new 'neutral state' entity joining the
United Nations under a single name.
Washington however,... deemed the proposal unrealistic unless North Korea showed a willingness
to establish trust.
Seoul shared this opinion, especially as the contents were the same as what was proposed
by former North Korean leader Kim Il-sung in 1980.
As for the reason behind this proposal, experts speculate that it's because the regime did
not want to be left out of the spotlight with the upcoming 1988 Summer Olympics in South
Korea.

The two Koreas and the United States have so many issues to cover during the upcoming
summits.
It's imperative for each side to clearly identify their priorities.
One clear cut objective for Seoul and Washington... is putting Pyongyang on course to peaceful
denuclearization.
Kim Hyesung helps us explore ways to make that an attainable goal.
"The two Koreas held summit talks back in 2000 and 2007 to improve their bilateral relationship.
The upcoming April summit talks will be the third historic meeting.
But the stakes are higher, with North Korea in its final stages of nuclear weapons development,
and a somewhat unpredictable U.S. President, Donald Trump, who even threatened a possible
preemptive strike.
So what are some of the key conditions for the talks to succeed and really help achieve
a peaceful denuclearization of the Korean peninsula?"
The definition of denuclearization--that's what experts say is critical, above all else.
"What South Korea and the U.S. mean by denuclearization is the North completely giving up nuclear
weapons.
But North Korea hasn't made clear yet whether it means giving up nuclear weapons, a freeze
or what.
At the summit, Seoul needs to get Pyongyang to make this clear."
Previous talks failed; the North reneged on the signed agreements and continued to develop
nuclear weapons.
This time, before talking about any kind of give and take,... like economic rewards, or
North Korea normalizing relations with the U.S.,...
South Korea needs to confirm the North's sincerity... and its commitment to denuclearize... if the
talks are to succeed and if Seoul is to keep its alliance with Washington strong.
But managed expectations from the Trump administration is also needed.
It will be helpful to get a sense of parameters and manage expectations.
If he (Trump) goes into negotiations and pushes Kim Jong-un to immediately denuclearize, to
agree to his conditions or else, I just hope that he doesn't come back and then listen
to the very hawkish advice of his national security advisor, immediately ratchet up tensions
and then consider military option..."
To keep the summit from falling apart, finding a realistic bottom line North Korea and the
U.S. can agree on is key.
The parties also need to keep holding preparatory meetings like the Track 1.5 talks between
Seoul, Washington and Pyongyang held in Finland last week.
This is where South Korea's role and the inter-Korean summit serve as a bridge between Washington
and Pyongyang.
Another condition for the talks to succeed is that South Korea, which got the ball rolling
on the summit, be able to deal with the variables and changing strategic dynamics.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's trip to Beijing is something that complicates the
equation, which experts interpret as the North's attempt to enhance its negotiation position
against South Korea and the U.S. amid the tensions between China and the U.S. over trade.
" South Korea needs to cooperate with its neighbors and make sure the tough sanctions
on the North stay in place.
We are seeing a possible breakthrough in solving the North Korea crisis.
It's like a puzzle... with the pieces representing many different interests.
We need to put it together with caution and preparation... or else we are back to brinksmanship."

to state Korea's Dokdo belongs to Japan.

With the new teaching guidelines, announced in the Japanese government's official gazette
on Friday,...
Tokyo has created a legal basis to teach false and distorted information to its future generations.
Publishers of school textbooks in Japan are now required by law to refer to Dokdo as Japanese
territory.
The textbooks for elementary schools should include such wrongful territorial claims from
2020,... middle school books from 2021,... and high school textbooks from 2022.
Last year, the Japanese government also revised its legally-binding teaching guidelines for
elementary and middle school students,... to include incorrect territorial claims toward
Korea's easternmost island Dokdo.
Back in 2008, Japan first started to include the provocative claim that Korea and Japan
do not share a common understanding on Dokdo in its non-legally-binding middle school teaching
guideline commentary,... causing strong protests and a backlash from the Korean government.
So now it seems that,... for the last ten years,... despite official protests from Korea,...
Japan has made its education system from elementary school to high school,... teach students these
false territorial claims.
The South Korean government has strongly condemned the Japanese government's move,... urging
it to immediately repeal its legally-binding teaching guidelines that make false claims
over the Korean territory.
Seoul's foreign ministry summoned the Japanese Ambassador to South Korea, Yasumasa Nagamine
Friday morning,... and South Korea's First Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam delivered
the South Korean government's position,... urging the Japanese government to repeal the
wrongful guidelines.
The foreign ministry also issued a statement that Dokdo is historically, geographically
and legally Korea's territory,... which was first invaded and occupied during Japan's
past attempt to colonize Korea,... vowing to sternly respond to any of such moves.
The statement added that if Japan continues to fail to see its errors of imperialistic
aggression in the past,... it will lose a precious opportunity to learn from the past
and prepare for the future.
Korea's education ministry also issued a statement, saying this move of historical distortion
not only violates Korea's territorial sovereignty,... but also damages the peaceful coexistence
and mutual respect of East Asia.
The education ministry stressed that the Japanese government should teach its future generations
the preciousness of peace,... based on the correct view of history.
