It's happened to the best of us.

It's close to dinner time, your stomach is grumbling...

All of a sudden your significant other's foot tapping becomes too much to bear, and

you lash out.

Your partner has fallen victim to hanger, the grumpiness you feel when you are hungry.

And it isn't an excuse—it's an actual physiological and psychological phenomenon.

Science has shown that hanger is real.

For example, people jab more pins into a voodoo doll of their spouses or choose to blast loud

noises at their partner when their blood glucose levels are low.

Psychologists think that this may be because hunger impairs self-control.

Not acting impulsively takes brainpower, and when the brain's low on fuel, it just doesn't

have the energy to hold back.

Another explanation is that hanger is basically a mistake your brain makes when you're not

sure what's causing your body to feel bad.

That's because some psychologists think feeling emotions is actually a combination

of what's physically going on in your body and what your mind thinks is the reason for

that.

So if you don't realize what's making you feel off, you might pick a different emotion.

When you haven't eaten in a while, you might attribute your rumbling stomach, tiredness

and fuzzy-head to other feelings that cause those reactions, like stress or even anger.

No really — this is a thing.

Scientists have shown that this can happen.

For example, experimenters in a 2016 study irked 236 college students by making the computer

they were using crash.

Those that had fasted before the test reacted more negatively, seeming to add their hunger-related

feelings to the frustration induced by the tech glitch.

They even reported more hatred towards the experimenter.

Hatred!

And that might sound extreme, but it's an honest mistake, because hunger and anger look

a lot alike physiologically.

Some of the same brain regions are activated both when you feel angry and when you're

hungry.

And that's because the same brain chemical—a tiny protein called neuropeptide Y—both

prompts your body to eat when your energy reserves are low and regulates aggression.

Actually, it makes a lot of sense, because hunger is your brain's way of signaling

the release of hormones that increase the amount of glucose into your bloodstream so

that your tissues don't starve.

And those same hormones are released in stressful situations, when a boost of glucose could

help you outmuscle a predator or run away.

And the connection between hunger and aggression might be more than a bodily coincidence.

For our ancestors, food wasn't always a reliable thing.

Their feelings of hunger were a sign that food was scarce, so whatever they found when

hungry was probably worth fighting for.

Being hangrier, and thus more aggressive about securing meals, might have helped them get

the fuel they needed to outcompete more complacently hungry rivals.

And the legacy of that hanger lives on in us today.

So the next time you feel yourself about to bubble over with frustration, remember: it

may be your body's way of decoding your empty stomach.

So go eat a snack!

The FBI's conspiracy against Donald Trump keeps getting worse.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions ended up the target of their vendetta.

And one top FBI official pulled this dirty trick to try and take him down.

Fired FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe is out for blood.

He leaked to the media that Attorney General Jeff Sessions was under criminal investigation

for perjury.

The allegations were baseless and Sessions was cleared—in fact he never even knew about

the inquiry.

But McCabe is leaking it to the media to make it seem like his termination was payback for

investigating the Attorney General.

ABC reports:

"NEARLY A YEAR BEFORE ATTORNEY GENERAL JEFF SESSIONS FIRED SENIOR FBI OFFICIAL ANDREW

MCCABE FOR WHAT SESSIONS CALLED A "LACK OF CANDOR," MCCABE OVERSAW A FEDERAL CRIMINAL

INVESTIGATION INTO WHETHER SESSIONS LACKED CANDOR WHEN TESTIFYING BEFORE CONGRESS ABOUT

CONTACTS WITH RUSSIAN OPERATIVES, SOURCES FAMILIAR WITH THE MATTER TOLD ABC NEWS.

DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKERS HAVE REPEATEDLY ACCUSED SESSIONS OF MISLEADING THEM IN CONGRESSIONAL

TESTIMONY AND CALLED ON FEDERAL AUTHORITIES TO INVESTIGATE, BUT MCCABE'S PREVIOUSLY-UNREPORTED

DECISION TO ACTUALLY PUT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IN THE CROSSHAIRS OF AN FBI PROBE WAS AN EXCEPTIONAL

MOVE.

ONE SOURCE TOLD ABC NEWS THAT SESSIONS WAS NOT AWARE OF THE INVESTIGATION WHEN HE DECIDED

TO FIRE MCCABE LAST FRIDAY LESS THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE MCCABE, A FORMER FBI DEPUTY DIRECTOR,

WAS DUE TO RETIRE FROM GOVERNMENT AND OBTAIN A FULL PENSION, BUT AN ATTORNEY REPRESENTING

SESSIONS DECLINED TO CONFIRM THAT."

In his confirmation hearings, Sessions stated he never met with Russians as a member of

the Trump campaign.

The Deep State then leaked that he held a meeting in his Senate office with the Russian

Ambassador.

But Sessions did not disclose that meeting on the advice of the FBI because it was in

his capacity as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and was normal business

for someone in his position.

But left-wing Senators Patrick Leahy and Al Franken recommended Sessions be investigated

for perjury and McCabe complied.

ABC also reports:

"TWO MONTHS AGO, SESSIONS WAS INTERVIEWED BY MUELLER'S TEAM, AND THE FEDERAL INQUIRY

RELATED TO HIS CANDOR DURING HIS CONFIRMATION PROCESS HAS SINCE BEEN SHUTTERED, ACCORDING

TO A LAWYER REPRESENTING SESSIONS.

"THE SPECIAL COUNSEL'S OFFICE HAS INFORMED ME THAT AFTER INTERVIEWING THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

AND CONDUCTING ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION, THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IS NOT UNDER INVESTIGATION

FOR FALSE STATEMENTS OR PERJURY IN HIS CONFIRMATION HEARING TESTIMONY AND RELATED WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS

TO CONGRESS," ATTORNEY CHUCK COOPER TOLD ABC NEWS ON WEDNESDAY.

ACCORDING TO THE SOURCES, MCCABE AUTHORIZED THE CRIMINAL INQUIRY AFTER A TOP DEMOCRAT

ON THE SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE, SEN.

PATRICK LEAHY, D-VERMONT, AND THEN-SEN.

AL FRANKEN, D-MINN., WROTE A LETTER IN MARCH 2017 TO THE FBI URGING AGENTS TO INVESTIGATE

"ALL CONTACTS" SESSIONS MAY HAVE HAD WITH RUSSIANS, AND "WHETHER ANY LAWS WERE BROKEN

IN THE COURSE OF THOSE CONTACTS OR IN ANY SUBSEQUENT DISCUSSION OF WHETHER THEY OCCURRED."

McCabe's actions make it clear why he and former Director James Comey had to go.

They were partisan political hit men taking tire irons to the knees of the Trump administration.

It was a Democrat Party goon squad that weaponized their law enforcement capabilities against

the left's political enemies.

The Olympic Kayaker Who Had Never Trained in Rapids | Strangest Moments - Duration: 4:26.

Turn on a tap in your kitchen,

or stand at the top of Niagara Falls,

you can't help noticing the same thing -

water flows downhill.

In 1992, at Segre Olympic Park, Catalonia,

water flowed very quickly downhill

for the canoe and kayaking events

of the Barcelona Olympic Games.

And at one point that afternoon,

it seemed to flow especially quickly.

There was a Costa Rican upside down in a kayak,

careening towards Olympic infamy.

The date was Saturday, August 1st.

The event, the K-1 class kayak slalom singles,

making its return to the Olympics

for the first time in 20 years.

Gilda Montenegro, a 25-year-old from San Jose,

had never trained for slalom kayaking.

This was not, to put it mildly,

an underdog story with a Hollywood ending.

It was the first day of competition

at the water course.

Montenegro was fourth up from a field of 26 kayakers.

She watched Australia's Danielle Woodward

navigate the 25 gates in 141 seconds,

missing only two.

Then Spain's Cristina Martinez

took 153 seconds and missed three gates.

It was choppy out there.

Britain's Karen Like did it in 138 seconds,

missing two gates.

And then it was Montenegro's turn.

By the time the cameras picked up on Montenegro,

things were already going amiss.

She had somehow accumulated 200 penalty points already.

That was before she hit the wall.

To put that in perspective, the top six between them

collected 15 penalty points in their entire runs.

Montenegro hit the wall again.

After the second collision, the cameras left her to it.

The rest of Montenegro's first run was never broadcast,

but the scorers were there.

The Costa Rican rookie racked up 470 penalty points.

That was nearly as much as the entire

25-strong field combined.

The leader had a score of 131.75 — her time in seconds,

plus penalty points.

Montenegro's score was 640.27.

She was dead last.

And that was only the half of it. There was still round two.

Again, Woodward, Martinez and Like went down without a hitch.

But things didn't go so well for Montenegro.

She smashed her head on the bottom of the channel

with such force that her helmet cracked.

And with that — capsizing and falling out of the kayak —

it was all over.

She was out of the event.

How had Montenegro even qualified for the Olympics?

The truth is, she hadn't.

She had been working as a raft guide

for a man named Rafael Gallo,

who was the head of Costa Rica's canoe team.

Gallo learned at the last moment

that Costa Rica would get

an extra place at the Games.

He offered the ride to Montenegro.

She agreed, and was on the plane to Spain.

Montenegro never became the most unlikely Olympic champion,

but she did make a return to the Games.

After refusing to step into a slalom kayak for 18 months

after Barcelona, she set her sights on Atlanta in 1996.

She wanted to complete a full run without missing a gate.

And, you know, perhaps this was a story of heroism after all.

Because that second time round in Atlanta,

the rapids tried to swallow Montenegro again.

But she beat them.

And she also beat some of her fellow competitors.

Gilda finished 28th out of 30 in 1996.

All things considered,

it was one of the great comeback stories

in Olympic Games history.

28th place had never felt so good.
