Hello everyone, we are the Hoopers
Haruki
Sena
Cecil
So today we are here in Asakusa
Here Asakusa is called the city of craft where a lot of craftsman exist
Today we want to walk around this Asakusa
Sounds fun
With amazing acrobatic performance with sexy elements
which attracts women nationwide, the Ike-men girls group The Hoopers
Today Haruki, Cecil, and Sena goes
and walks around the city of craftsmanship, Asakusa
The first place they found was...
Nice
What is this?
-Beautiful -Yes
-Chopsticks? -It says chopsticks
It has chopstick mark
When they enter...
Wow -Cool
So many chopsticks
I've never seen so much chopsticks
This is a chopstick specialty store Hashi-To
It is a traditional store with 100 years of history with 2000 types of chopsticks
With so many items, a lot of foreigners visit here.
Hello
Welcome
This is the director of overseas sales department, Mamoru Kaihou
What Mr.Kaihou recommends is..
-Wow -Super cute
-Panda -Panda chopsticks
-So cute -How do you make this?
-And more -You know Yosegi?
You combine wood sticks
This is a rare Hakone-Yosegi craft chopsticks
These are chopsticks combined with different colored wood, a work of craftsmanship
The Hoopers are very excited to see chopsticks they have never seen before.
Then Mr.Kaihou gives a suggestion.
We sometimes do workshops where you can make your own chopsticks.
How about if you make your own chopsticks today?
Oh really?
They are allowed to make their own chopsticks so they go for the challenge
The first thing they will use is a plane.
Adding the base wood to the mold wood and shave off to your own preferable shape.
If you shave the same part
It will become a half chopstick
So rotate it, and don't shave too much.
To create a shape which fits your hand, looking at the balance and use the plane to carve it.
This is easier said than it looks
Oh,like this
You have to hold the upper part
You have to have years of practice to create a right shape
A round shape without corners is super hard
-I just missed out on the tip -What happened?
Super thin
I will try to recover on this side
Using sand paper to rub it...
and to the finish
You will use this as the finish
What is this?
What is this?
The inside is this. -What? Looks good
Walnuts
Walnuts?
The finish is done with walnuts
Crushing this and pasting on the chopsticks
This will create a safe and nice shine
Can you see?
The difference
It becomes shiny even more.
After one hour of work,
Done
It is done
Haruki's one is round and shows her neat character
The rascal Cecil is a bit round and quite rough
Sena's one is a strange combination of pentagon and round shape
Thank you very much
Thank you Hashi-Tou
After creating the chopsticks they continue the walk
Then...
-Hold on -What is hand baked Senbei?
What is this?
Let's go and see
They are baking it. Wow
Looks so good
Hello
Amazing. Quite amazing.
They have come to Ichibanya, which was established in 1884
Carefully picked rice crackers are hand baked each by the staff
Thank you very much
From the kind store staff, the Hoopers get to try out the rice crackers
Let's try it
So good
Really tasty -Great
Since the soy sauce was added right after it was baked,
so the rice cracker is crunchy while the taste of soy sauce is done well. Tasty
The Hoopers walk around in Asakusa, the next place was
-What does it say? -Shichi...
-Shichi-hou... -It's Shippo Yaki!
-Oh Shippo Yaki! -There are so many inside
-Really -Amazing
Are these accessories the Shippo Yaki?
It says the work is done on the 3F
Oh my it is true
On the 3F, there is a sign
When entering...
So cute
So many
So many accessories fill the store
This place was established 70 years ago
They sell the traditional Shippo-yaki goods
Sakamori Shippo Kogei
What exactly is a Shippo-Yaki?
What makes it different?
Basically Shippo is glass so the colors won't fade
Shippo Yaki came to Japan in the 6th or 7th century
Since it's glass, as long as it doesn't brake, the color will not fade
-Nice -Since we are working as a group
-A group which doesn't fade -That could be the concept?
-In that way -Imaging that way
-and creating would be -nice?
In Sakamori Kogei you can try out the traditional Shippo making
-We want to try it out -Do you?
-Can we? -Specially for you
Thank you
I wonder if we will succeed. Excited
The one to teach is Noboru Sakamori who has done this for 40 years
Choose the color of you choice, mix the glass powder and water to make base
After applying the color, heat it for 1minute and half at 900 degrees
Ok I will open it up. Take a look -So excited
Can't tell which is mine -The color comes out when it cools down
Wow -Wow wow amazing
-It's all red -All in Haruki's color
The red color at first changes to bright colors after it cools down
The first decoration with sliver is done and heated at 900 degrees again.
Done! -Oh all red. Can't tell which is what
Now it's stuck
Amazing no matter how many times you heat it, it doesn't crack
Shippo can be heated 10 or 20 times,
but if you miss out one time on heating, it's over
Amazing
So beautiful
Now it's like an accessory
Finally adding "Frit" to decide the design
This actually is the hardest part
You have to add design thinking that it will melt
OK
Excited
After one minute, how will the finished look be?
Ok, it's done
Oh, can't tell
-Can't see -Is the flower still there?
Can't tell. I can only see the silver part
-The yellow is easy to see -And the blue
I hope the flower comes out. The flower
Oh wait, flower..flower, flower is coming out
Beautiful design is coming out
Now the accessory for each member is done
Sena has rubber band for hair
Cecil made a pin
and Haruki made a necklace
-Isn't this nice? -If you change the angle, the color changes
Rainbow color
Thank you very much for today
We matched our outfits
Every one of you have a unfading color on.
Thank you very much
-We will keep this on -Yes
-I hope you do -Thank you very much
That was fun
It was quite a learning experience and fun
There are many other attractive places we couldn't visit
I felt we want to visit more
Of course not only us,
but if you feel like visiting this area, please come and try it out
Thank you very much Bye bye
