In today's episode,

Some time ago, we told you about the Tanki meet-up

that is taking place on September 9th in Moscow.

I said that if Im not part of the managers plans, I would like to choose my destination. Im not going to let them decide just to get more money.

When I came to Chelsea they paid a lot less compared to whats being offered to them. I think they should take into account everything that Ive done. Its not my fault that Im not at the club.

If it was down to me Id be playing. Its already been one month. Holidays are good but it gets tiresome. I didnt provoke the situation, but now that its come to this the club has to think in two ways.

Of course they need to get something back [in a sporting sense], like I gave them on the pitch, but financial as well. After three years they will receive a fee higher than what they paid..

Friday Favorite: Yankee Candle, Smashbox Primer, and A Friend's Birthday Party - Duration: 1:56.

Hey there. Welcome back to the Isle. It's time for another Friday Favorite.

This week it's raining. Thankfully it's a warm rain.

My favorite is a Yankee Candle. The scent is Honeycrisp Apple Cider.

But it smells like straight apple.

They have another one called Macintosh, but this one won out.

Okay so.

I love apples.

So when it comes to um cosmetics though, my favorite is this primer.

So at first I thought primer was just a gimmick.

I ignored it.

Especially when I just started really getting into things at the beginning of May, um, but

I had it, a few samples of it from, you know, subscription boxes and that kind of thing.

I like how a little, little tiny, tiny little bit rubbed into like this area here.

Where I'm most self conscious of, so now I'm pointing it out. You know, where I could compose music.

Um. *self deprecating chuckle* uh basically once I put the makeup on, it tends to smooth

over and it's not as pronounced.

So I feel like I'm still me, because I didn't have anything permanent done but for those

special occasions when you want to look a little bit cuter, this works really well for my dry skin.

And then my favorite moment of the week was being there my friend's birthday party.

Uh. So that was a delight to see, people I haven't seen for a while, but specifically I haven't

hung out with my friend in enough time, really, it's been busy hectic schedules and blah blah blah.

But you know when you haven't seen someone for a long time, and you're super happy to see them?

And I feel very energized by that, so, yay!

2017 Toyota HiLux TRD review

Today we're going to take a look at something truly exciting that's been developed by Toyota's go-fast team, TRD. It's the 2017 Toyota HiLux TRD.

Toyota Racing Development hasn't really worked this new model over to within an inch of its life, and it really hasn't done anything to make it a much sportier than the standard vehicle. But it is more stylish… right?.

Officially referred to by the Japanese brand as the 2017 Toyota HiLux with TRD Accessories, we'll refer to it as the HiLux TRD from here on.

It features a number of additional styling bits that will see it fight against flagship, style-focused utes offered by rival brands.

It's based on the Toyota HiLux SR5 dual-cab diesel 4x4 model, one of the biggest selling variants, and also the most expensive.

And with the equipment package fitted to this model, the price for this version of the HiLux is higher than we've seen it since the last, proper TRD HiLux with the supercharged petrol V6 engine.

That's right, to get the six-speed automatic version we have here will set you back $60,990 drive-away in white, or $61,540 in black. If you want a manual you'll save two grand.

That sort of expenditure means it isn't quite as expensive as the range-topping Ford Ranger Wildtrak and Volkswagen Amarok V6 Ultimate, but it is pretty pricey considering it's based on the standard SR5 spec, albeit with a few extras.

The parts sourced from Toyota Racing Development include a new black grille, TRD lower bumper finisher, a red skid plate to protect the underbody when you're bush bashing, and four body-broadening wheel arch flares.

There are new 18-inch black alloys tucked under those flares, and they sport the same Dunlop tyres as the SR5 model.

The shininess has been removed from the sports bar in the tub, too, while there's also a tub liner, soft tonneau, tail-light covers, mud flaps and tow kit included.

Look, it's not my job to tell you whether the styling changes have made the HiLux more attractive or not.

But because it's still an SR5 under all the TRD trickery, you still get Toyota's excellent auto-levelling LED headlights, black side steps, and keyless entry and push-button start.

While the safety situation with the HiLux is decent, it isn't as good as the Ranger top-end models: you can't get all the active safety aids like forward collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control.

Still, there's a rear-view camera and seven airbags as standard, including curtain airbag protection for those in the back seat, which is more than we can say for the VW ute.

On the inside there are only a couple of changes, like TRD floor mats.

You still get all the stuff the SR5 has, like climate control, cruise control, a touchscreen media unit with satellite navigation and Toyota Link app compatibility as well as DAB digital radio and Bluetooth, an electrically-adjustable driver's seat, and a multi-function steering wheel.

No matter what spec of dual-cab model, the rear seat of the HiLux still isn't as roomy as the best in class, lacking headroom. And we're still of the opinion that those hard grab-handles aren't great, particularly when you're off-roading.

But there's adequate knee- and toe-room, particularly if you're hauling the kids around rather than bulky work buds.

It may look a bit more special outside, but the interior of the TRD isn't quite as exciting as it should be. It's just an SR5 in here.

The HiLux's touchscreen media system lacks the latest connectivity that you can get in the other two utes we've already named: there's no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto mirroring.

And the while the Bluetooth is quick to connect and reconnect it's frustrating when you're driving, because the system blocks you from making calls to contacts or entering numbers.

The only way you can make a call while on the move is via voice commands which is, lets say, temperamental. Its an ongoing frustration with Toyota (and Lexus, for that matter) vehicles.

Otherwise, the cabin is decently finished: the controls are all placed reasonably smartly, and there's decent storage through the cabin. And when it comes to how it drives?.

Well, again, nothing has changed. That's because the same drivetrain is under the bonnet – a 2.8-litre turbo diesel, and no, there's no petrol or supercharged option from TRD this time around.

At least that'll mean lower fuel bills – the original one was a thirsty thing.

With identical outputs as the regular engine, there's 130kW of power and 450Nm of torque at the driver's disposal. Toyota is offering the TRD with a six-speed manual gearbox as well as the six-speed auto we have on test.

Nothing has changed with the transmission, either, aside from the new TRD gearknob. And while the HiLux doesn't have as much grunt as some of its bigger-engined competitors out there, it does offer good linearity to the way it revs.

There's some turbo lag if you stomp on the throttle, but it builds pace with a nice level of refinement. The gearbox is well sorted, and there's a power mode to allow you to push it a little harder if you need.

One thing that may catch some drivers unawares is the gradient braking system, which drops back a gear or two to allow some engine braking on descents, and it can be a little noisy in those instances.

The biggest letdown to the HiLux is its suspension and steering.

The steering is very heavy, almost hard work at low speeds when you're parking the thing, and the fact it lacks front or rear parking sensors means those situations can involve a bit of guesswork. The rear-view camera helps though.

It is reasonably direct in corners, and decently reactive too, its just at low speeds that it's a bit of a pain.

The suspension, though, is painful pretty much all the time – well, if you're not loaded up, that is. It feels quite ungainly over bumps, with the tray trembling as the suspension settles over sharp edges.

At highway speeds the ride is a bit more settled, but it still isn't even close to the best you can get in this segment.

We put a few hundred kilos of slate tiles in the back and the rear suspension appreciated it, settling over the axle with a more convincing character.

If you plan to use the tray – which in all likelihood, you might not – theres a tub-liner, four tie-down points, and a soft tonneau cover.

Its a good sized tray, measuring 1645mm wide (1109mm between the arches), 1569mm long and 481mm deep. It has a 925 kilogram payload in this spec.

When it comes to off-road credentials, the HiLux has plenty. And this spec includes a rear differential lock, electronic transfer case with switch on the fly four-wheel drive, hill-start assist and hill-descent control.

It is a bloody decent thing off road, with excellent articulation and terrific ground clearance – 279 millimetres between the lowest point under the body and the surface below, though it might be a little less than that with the TRD bash-plate under the bonnet.

The plus of the steering off-road is that it offers good feel to the driver's hands, but the suspension is enough to shake up your insides. It really is uncomfortable.

It wouldn't be a Toyota without solid ownership potential, but bear in mind that while the company's reputation for longevity may be well founded, the brand's three-year/100,000km warranty is shorter than some rivals.

And you need to get it serviced every six months or 10,000km, more regular than most other utes you can buy. It'll cost you $240 per visit to the workshop.

So no, we didn't take the Toyota HiLux TRD to a race-track. But it's probably a good thing we didn't.

If you're in the market for a ute that will potentially deal with whatever you can throw at it, as well as look the part out the front of the worksite, the HiLux TRD could be right up your alley.

Our advice? If you want the latest tech and safety kit, consider the Ford Ranger before signing on the line for the latest high-spec HiLux.

vindicating the theory of relativity

but solar eclipses haven't always been used as evidence for

Scientific theory even in the recent past a total solar eclipse is only

Possible because the sun and moon appear to be roughly the same size

In the sky the sun is about 400 times as large as the moon

But the moon is about 400 times closer to the Earth this

Serendipity of size and placement means the Moon can completely obscure the sun the seemingly

Astronomical chances that the sun and moon would just happen to be fixed in the correct positions to allow for a total solar eclipse

They were a really shoddy designer in fact most of the time we don't even get to see a total solar eclipse the vast majority

Of total eclipses happen when the moon shadow doesn't even intersect with beer

This is because the moon's orbit isn't on the same plane as the Earth's orbit around the sun

So the moon's shadow only falls on the earth when the sun moon and earth all happened to be in the same plane which only

Happens a few times a year at most if the moon were in the same plane as the sun and Earth we'd see a solar

Eclipse every month if an intelligent designer really wanted to hammer home evidence of its own existence

All it had to do was tweak the moon's orbit, just a little bit instead in its infinite wisdom

And power and left our solar eclipses imperfect

Total solar eclipses haven't always been possible the sun and the moon only got into the correct alignment

About a billion years ago, and as time goes on total solar eclipses will become more and more infrequent

This is because the sun is getting bigger and the moon is getting farther away in about

650 million Years total solar eclipses won't be possible anymore

So if you have a chance to view this year's solar eclipse don't miss it because they won't be around forever

millions of people will view this solar eclipse

More than ever before tens of Millions live within the path of totality and hundreds of millions are within driving distance

With the proliferation of Smart phones cameras are everywhere

Many of them will be pointed toward the sun or at the shadow

Projected by a pinhole camera either way whether through a screen or on the path of totality?

More people will be able to view this solar eclipse than ever before in history. I've never seen a solar eclipse

I don't live on the path of totality, but I'm not too far off

The Moon's Shadow will sweep across the face of the Earth about 400 miles south of me my position on the Earth will only give

Me a partial solar eclipse, but that hasn't dampened my enthusiasm as a testament to the popularity of the solar eclipse

eclipse viewing glasses are in high demand

Mine are on backorder the supplier assures me that they'll have more in time for the eclipse

But I'm not worried even if they don't arrive in time

I know they aren't the only way to view this solar eclipse

Sopot Travel Guide | Day Trip from Gdansk, Poland - Duration: 10:31.

Today we're taking you on a day trip to Sopot, a town whose name we hadn't heard

before visiting Gdańsk.

Sopot is a beautiful seaside town that sits on the shores of the Baltic Sea, and it proved

to be the perfect little day trip.

Come join us as we explore the town, take a boat tour of the harbour, and find out what

makes this destination a summer hotspot.

Tickets in hand.

That was super easy.

We got our tickets they were only 3.80 Zloty.

Uh-huh.

Yeah.

That is less than a Euro so we are not spending much to get there.

Ready for our day trip and our train is pulling into the station right now.

Good timing.

We have made it to Sopòt (Zoppot).

We've made it.

And I think the main attraction here it the pier (Molo w Sopocie).

Uh huh.

Isn't it the largest in Northern Europe?

The largest wooden pier in all of Europe.

Wow.

So let's go check that out.

That is the main thing we're going to do here.

Yeah.

So we made it to the pier and we actually had to buy tickets.

You have to pay to go walk on the pier which I didn't realize you had to do.

So it is 8 Zloty per person.

Got our tickets.

Let's go.

At 511.5 meters, this is the longest wooden pier in all of Europe, and it's the one

attraction you can't miss when you visit Sopot (Zoppot).

And look here.

There are swans at the beach.

Oh my gosh.

It is a beautiful beach day, the sun is out, blue skies and we can hear seagulls squawking

off in the distance.

It is just nice to be at the beach oh my gosh.

I can't remember the last time I went to the beach.

It has been too long.

Alright, update from Sopot (Zoppot).

We came here thinking maybe we'll spend a couple of hours or maybe half a day but we

are really liking it here.

Really liking it.

This is going to be a full day excursion.

Yeah, so instead of just putting this in the Gdansk city guide this is going to be its

Well as you would know already because you would be watching the vlog but anyways we

made a decision at this moment just so you know.

We like it.

So Sam found us a Pirate Ship.

A proper pirate boat.

How excited are you for a pirate.

Being a pirate.

Apparently when some people on my Dad's side of the family were researching the history.

Oh my gosh.

There is some pirate background so I feel like I just need an eye patch and I'd fit

right in.

(Honking noises)

That means we are ready to set sails.

So we made it on the boat like barely.

It was leaving within five minutes from us buying the tickets.

I know if we hadn't got on that boat we would have had to wait another hour.

So we're going to be doing a forty minute cruise of the harbor aboard a pirate ship.

How cool is that?

And we were really lucky we got on the very first one.

Yeah.

It is leaving at ten and we only had like five minutes to get on.

Yeah.

So the next one wasn't going to be until eleven so we would have had to wait a whole hour

so we feel really lucky to have got on this one.

And how much was it?

Was it thirty five Zloty?

Yes, 35 Zloty each.

Yeah, 35 each and yeah this is going to be awesome.

We have such nice weather so I can't wait to just see where this boat takes us.

So today is a really nice day to be out on the water.

I don't know if you can see this but the waters are so calm it looks like glass.

Like a mirror.

It is almost like a mirror.

No waves.

I know you couldn't have asked for a better day seriously.

Alright, so we just got off the pirate ship but check it out you can actually go on catamarans.

I know.

These are fancy.

This would be a little bit of a step up but for sure.

But yeah we enjoyed pirate ship ride.

That was really cool.

Yeah.

And now we're going to explore a little bit more of the pier.

And we've heard rumors of fish pierogi.

Yeah, we are hungry so it is time for food soon.

That is high up on our radar.

So we have good news and bad news.

The bad news is that the restaurant we had read about online doesn't have fish pierogies.

We found it but they don't have it on the menu so maybe they used to at one point but

they don't right now.

Yeah.

The good news is that they do have baked pierogi and we've been wanting to try those for a

while so we've ordered a whole bunch of like savory ones and sweet ones and we also have

soup coming and salad.

So it is going to be a really good meal.

And what are you starting off with here to drink?

Tea.

I got some mint tea.

Look they put the mint here in the little teapot.

So yeah, I'm so hungry I'm so ready for the food to arrive.

Well, the wait is over.

Oh the joy.

Oh my gosh.

That took a while and I was starting to get a little bit hangry but the food is finally

here.

So let's start with the beetroot soup.

I ordered the one that comes with dumplings but you can just get the plain broth.

So let's try that.

Oooh is it nice?

That is good.

It is hot isn't it?

It is not a cold one.

Yeah.

We've seen a creamy version of the beetroot soup but we have no idea what it is called.

We don't know how to order it.

So every time we get beetroot.

There is a traffic jam.

Anyways the soup is good but check this out.

Like the star of the meal are the pierogi.

Go on and dig in and have one.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So these are the spinach ones.

Yes.

I think we got spinach.

These are like sun dried tomatoes.

And these are the baked ones of course.

Mmmm.

Mmmmm.

Oh.

I'll eat them anyway.

They must have a bit of spinach inside.

But it is still good.

No complaints.

Alright, so the only other things to try here are the salad.

And we also have the dessert pierogies.

It has got lettuce and tomatoes and a little bit of onion.

So yeah I just wanted to get some vegetables in with the meal.

But really we're here for this.

This was a wonderful meal.

Those are by far the best dessert pierogi I've ever had.

We've tried some dessert ones before.

Some very simple ones but these are decadent.

So we somehow stumbled on a body building competition.

And everyone looks super tan.

Alright so first a bodybuilding competition.

And now a market.

Yeah, now the market.

And the market looks so different from when we first arrived.

Like when we arrived in the morning it was just getting setup.

There was nobody here and now it is just like a bustling hive of activity.

As you may have noticed there are more people sunbathing than there were people swimming

and that is because the baltic sea is best described as refreshing.

Well well that was a very busy outing and I think the verdict is we both loved Sopòt.

Like it turned out to be a lot of fun.

Yeah, it was a lot cooler than we anticipated.

We were just planning on coming for a few hours and ended up spending the whole day.

Yeah.

And I'm glad we came early in the morning because we kind of beat the crowds for a little

while but then we got to see what it looks like on a packed summer day.

Like this is the middle of July.

But anyways in terms of visiting I think that it is not a bad idea to do it as a day trip

because it is an expensive destination.

It is.

Lunch was a little pricey when we were looking at accommodations it was definitely more expensive

in the city.

Yeah, it is more expensive than Gdansk and Gdańsk is already more expensive than the

rest of Poland.

So I mean if you have money to spend sure come here they have beautiful hotels on the

beach and everything but yeah as a day trip you can definitely enjoy and see the main

sights.

Yeah you can do everything that you could do if you were staying here.

So yeah.

Yeah, consider it as a day-trip and yeah I guess that is it.

We're taking the train back and we're really glad that we came.
