Trump�s DOJ Gives 29 Liberal Sanctuary Cities December 8 Ultimatum.

The Department of Justice recently warned 29 jurisdictions that their so-called �sanctuary�

policies were in violation of federal immigration laws and gave them a fast-approaching deadline

to scrap those policies.

On Nov. 15, the department informed officials in Illinois, Oregon, and Vermont, along with

26 cities and counties around the country, that they were found to have �laws, policies

or practices� that violate federal immigration laws, according to the Washington Examiner.

The jurisdictions were also given an ultimatum � comply with Section 1373 of 8 U.S. Code

by Dec. 8 or forfeit their public safety grants given under the DOJ�s Edward Bryne Memorial

Justice Assistance Grant Program, which funds millions of dollars yearly to support local

law enforcement.

Section 1373 prohibits local and state governments from enacting laws or policies that limit

communication with Immigration and Customs and Border Protection about �information

regarding the immigration or citizenship status� of individuals.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said states, counties and cities that fail to comply with

federal immigration laws with sanctuary policies �undermine the safety of their residents.�

�We urge jurisdictions to not only comply with Section 1373, but also to establish sensible

and effective partnerships to properly process criminal aliens,� Sessions said.

One city that received a warning from the DOJ was Washington, D.C., where Mayor Muriel

Bowser put forth a policy for the city�s Department of Corrections that stated �employees

shall not inquire about a person�s immigration status or contact (ICE) for purposes of initiating

civil enforcement immigration proceedings.�

In its letter to the city, the DOJ said the order �appears to restrict the requesting

of information regarding immigration status,� thus putting it in violation of Section 1373,

the Washington Examiner reported.

In addition to Illinois, Oregon, Vermont and the District of Columbia, the other jurisdictions

that received letters on Wednesday were:

Albany, N.Y.; Berkeley, Calif.; Bernalillo County, N.M.; Burlington, Vt.; Contra Costa

County, Calif.; City and County of Denver, Colo.; Fremont, Calif.; Jackson, Miss.; King

County, Wash.; Lawrence, Mass.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Louisville Metro, Ky.; Middlesex,

N.J.; Monterey County, Calif.; Multnomah County, Ore.; Newark, N.J.; Riverside County, Calif.;

Sacramento County, Calif.; City and County of San Francisco, Calif.; Santa Ana, Calif.;

Santa Clara County, Calif.; Seattle, Wash.; Sonoma County, Calif.; Watsonville, Calif.,

and West Palm Beach, Fla.

Sessions sent similar warning letters to other jurisdictions earlier this year.

In April, Sacramento, Chicago, Cook County, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Miami,

Milwaukee, and New York City were asked to prove compliance with federal immigration

law.

In October, Chicago, New Orleans, New York, and Philadelphia, as well as Cook County,

Ill., were told they had a �last chance� to prove they were not �sanctuaries� for

illegal immigrants.

It remains to be seen how effective Sessions� threat to block funding will be, though, as

federal judges have already limited the department�s attempts to do so.

In fact, the same day the warning letters were sent out, a federal judge issued an injunction

against the department�s attempt to pull $1.6 million from Philadelphia as punishment

for not complying with federal immigration law, according to the Washington Times.

Hopefully, the jurisdictions that received letters from the DOJ will seriously rethink

their decision to shelter illegal immigrants from federal law enforcement.

With or without the threat of losing funds, protecting criminals from the law isn�t

beneficial to anyone.

Katy Perry, Archdiocese Awarded $5 Million in Trial Over Former Los Feliz Convent

A long-running struggle between singer Katy Perry and Silver Lake businesswoman Dana Hollister over the ownership of a former convent drew to a close Friday when a Los Angeles jury ruled in favor of Perry and the archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Earlier this year, a judge had ruled that the archdiocese had the right to sell the property, rather than the nuns who once lived in the Los Feliz property, and thus the nuns' sale to Hollister was not valid.

Perry had purchased the property for $14. The nuns had opposed the 2015 sale to Perry for $14.5 million and tried to sell the property to Hollister, the owner of several restaurants Cliff's Edge and the Brite Spot.

The archdiocese was awarded $3.47 million in attorney fees, according to the Los Angeles Times, while Perry's Bird Nest LLC company was awarded $1.57 million in fees.

Hollister bought the Waverly Drive property from two of the five remaining members of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who contended they had the right to sell the property.

However, at the same time, the archdiocese was working to sell the property to Perry. Hollister's attorney vowed to appeal the ruling.

In addition, the jury said Hollister acted with malice, oppression or fraud, giving Perry and the church the chance to recover punitive damages in a second phase of the trial next month.

Nearby residents had been concerned that Hollister would turn the secluded compound into a boutique hotel. Perry reportedly planned to turn the convent, which closed in 2011, into a family home for herself and her mother.

CNBLUEs recently sat down for an interview to talk about starring in JTBCs The Package.

The drama has been praised for its depiction of the beautiful landscape of France and its relatable plot that follows each characters story in detail.

Jung Yong Hwa played the troublemaker traveler San Ma Ru who sets off to France as part of a package tour group.

Although he is hardly ever empathetic and stirs up trouble unintentionally, San Ma Ru is a comical character who is hard to stay mad at.

He also proves to be a romanticist as he expresses his feelings directly without any calculations.

When asked about why he took a three-year rest after starring in tvNs , Jung Yon Hwa revealed that he had been afraid.

I wanted to take part in my next project when I was 100 percent confident that I could do well, not when I simply liked it, he explained.

I practiced reading the scripts slowly and studied the scripts a lot.

I got rid of the impatient attitude that I had before where I thought Id participate in whatever work came to me.

I thought that it was disrespectful towards the drama to do that..

All other members of CNBLUE, , , and , are now actors alongside Jung Yong Hwa.

Jung Yong Hwa said with a laugh that despite this fact, they dont help each other with their acting skills.

In CNBLUE, Im the vocal.

So I stand in the front.

Its hard for other members playing instruments to try something else even if they want to, he shared.

So we support each other if someone wants to try something he wants.

Weve decided that when were making music together, well focus on music seriously and when were acting individually, well each focus on acting..

As the leader of the group and the first one to start acting, Jung Yong Hwa said he had an advice that he tells the other members repeatedly.

I say, Lets not choose acting because were not sure of ourselves as singers.

Lets not choose to be an actor because were not confident that well go far as singers..

The most important thing for CNBLUE members as they all balance acting and singing, Jung Yong Hwa revealed, is differentiating music and acting.

He explained, I think we should be recognized for our real acting skills when acting, not as people who come to act relaxedly as members of idol groups.

And I think we should try our best and commit ourselves in order to do that.

Its the same the other way around.

When Im on the stage as a singer, I should focus on music, completely erasing my image as an actor..

Jung Yong Hwa continued, Honestly, I think its really hard to be acknowledged in both areas when its hard enough to be acknowledged in one.

But thats the reason why I think I should do better and try harder. Ive been talking about this with the other members for the last eight years.

Weve done well until now and I believe well be able to do well in the future as well..

Meanwhile, The Package airs its final episode on November 18 at 11:00 p.m.
