Le Son - Parlons Science - Université de Moncton - Duration: 10:07.

Good morning friends!

How's everyone this morning?

Good?

Are you happy we've come to share a Let's Talk Science activity with you this morning?

And today is an extra special day...

because in addition to the Let's Talk Science team:

Myself - Maxime,

and there's Daniel, and Pascale.

And on top of that, we have a special guest

I'm happy to introduce you to Michael

Michael's on a big adventure.

Would you believe that he's ridden his bike most way across Canada?

His goal is to meet people like you, and like us,

to do science and share our love of science together.

We'll get started with our special activity.

It's also about a special topic... Sound!

So, now I'll turn things over to Daniel to talk to you about sound.

Thank you, Maxime.

To start off with, it's true, we'll be doing some very interesting things related to sound.

So I have a challenge for you:

Is there anyone who can make a high-pitched sound?

Like someone who's REALLY happy!

Everyone, make a high-pitched sound: AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!

Perfect.

Now, I have another challenge: Can everyone make a low-pitched voice?

Like a monster! GGRRRAAAAAAAA!!!

Do you know of any other ways we can make noise?

So, how about we try to make some rain?

It's a game I used to play when i was young. I really loved it.

To begin, start rubbing your hands together.

Now you can start to use your mouth.

And now close your eyes and think of the rain.

Now start tapping your lap lightly.

Now add the legs!

Close your eyes and think of rain.

Now let's stop the legs, but keep tapping your laps.

Only the mouth now.

And now only hands.

There you go - we just made rain.

To make sound, two things are necessary...

First off, we need AIR.

Is there any air in this room?

No? Yes? We have some "nos" and some "yeses".

How could we check?

I invite you to blow into your hands.

Do you feel some heat? And some movement?

You're moving air!

I'll show you that there's lots of air in the room. Are you ready?

Can you feel the wind?

And see your hair moving?

So now do you believe me that there's air in the room?

It's the air that does that.

Everyone together - Is there air in the room?

YES!

We also need the air to be in motion!

When a sound is produced, each air particle oscillates.

Like this.

Can you do this with your hands, too?

Each air particle moves like this.

I even have an example for you to look at here.

Can you see the movement? We call this oscillation, or vibration.

We have a game to show this.

Everybody... when you see this picture

you'll keep quite, and move around really slowly.

And when you see this picture... Make some NOISE!!!

And move around more quickly, and move your arms up and down!

Now we have another activity to share with you.

This one is a bit more visual.

This machine creates a vibration, a little lit you just did with your arms.

You see, the machine is doing the same thing as you. You can follow along with your arms like this.

And, if we want, we can do this movement faster.

And the machine can do the same thing. In fact, the machine can ever go much, much faster.

We call this increasing the frequency.

And, we can make something magical happen...

The string is vibrating. It's kind of like a jump-rope.

Maybe you'd like to come up for a closer look? C'mon, come up closer.

Calmly, please. One person at a time.

I want to see a line here.

Did you notice when you touched the string that it was vibrating, and you could feel it moving?

You can feel the same movement in your vocal cords.

Did you know, when you talk, there are cords inside your throat that vibrate?

So now we'll ask you to each take a finger.

And put it on your throat, right here, gently.

And now make a high-pitched noise: AAAAAAAAAAHHH...

Did you feel anything?

Yes? Now we'll do it again, but this time with a low-pitched voice, okay?

Did you feel anything?

Can you see the sound here? Well... actually, the vibration?

We can increase the frequency...

So, I'll increase the speed at which it's moving.

Oh. Did you hear the sound?

Is it high? Yeah?

And now?

Even higher still.

And I have one last thing to tell you: Did you know that...

Young children, you're special.

Your ears... are young. They're brand-new.

So you're able to hear higher-pitched sounds than us.

For example... put your hand up if you can hear something.

Okay, because it's off, there's nothing to hear.

Now, can you hear something?

Personally, I can't hear anything.

That's really special, because none of the adults in the room can hear a thing.

But the kids can hear just fine. It's like you have super-powers to hear sounds that us adults can't.

So, to recap...

We can make noise in several ways:

We can... clap.

We can speak.

We can use our mouths.

We need two things to make sound:

AIR!

And what does the air need to do...?

move.

A little question for you... Do you like SCIENCE?

Yes? I can't hear you.

I didn't hear... do you like science?

YEEEESSS!!!

So now we're making sound to profess our love of science.

Can we make the sound: "Thank you"?

THANK YOU!!!

Now, who wants to go outside and see Michael's bike?

Thanks again to everyone who gave me such a warm welcome in Moncton.

First and foremost, thanks to Maxime and his team at Let's Talk Science: Daniel, Pascale and Alexandre.

Thank you Julie and everyone at the Garderie l'Eveil.

And finally, thank you to Anthony for the article he wrote about us in Acadie Nouvelle: "Nous Somme Tous les Scientifiques".

(字幕付)Almost DAILY SHOW "Trump's Asia Tour and International Marriage" - Duration: 5:02.

Hi guys, welcome to the almost daily show.

I'm your host kaori Keysha.

The US president Donald Trump is having his Asia Tour.

Woo welcome to mysterious Asia!

I think he should be so confused where he is

Because everybody looks the same.

Ni Hao...oh Japanese

Ni Hao... Korean

For now, NI HAO!!!

Ahead of Mr.Trump's visit, Tokyo beefed up its security.

21 thousand police men, the largest number in the history, was on duty…

I don't know if they tried to guard Mr. Trump or guard Mr. Trump's tongue though.

As a result the meeting seemed to go successfully the media said even the dinner was just like

Wedding Party.

I'm curious which will change family name..

Shinzo Trump..?

Donald Abe...?

ABERICA??

Before his arrival, Abe pledged to contribute $50 million to the

Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative championed by Ivanka Trump.

It's so hard to remember..

Personally I think it's ok.

But at first this news was casted like Abe supported $50 million Ivanka's organization

..I was like "OMG!

It's just her Asian sugar daddy!

Ivanka, what are you doing before your real daddy comes to Japan!?

And I wanna ask,

"Ivanka san, how can I find my own sugar daddy?...

Tinder?"

On the final day, Piko Taro attended at the dinner, which is amazing.

I think He should have worked as interpreter from everything to the simplest English words.

President,

I have a Kobe I have buns ....

Hamburger!

Yea, It's Japanese hospitality.

And in a diplomatic conversation,

This is Japan this is North Korea

Ughhh, Ughhhhh

.... Ughhhhhh!

And I believe Pikotaro translated even 1 English word.

When Mr. Trump said " OH, America has diverser…diversit...…"

"President, I have a diver

I have a city ..ugh Diversity!"

"Ohhhh Pika!!!

Pika chu!!"

Trump said 'samurai' Japan should have shot down overflying North Korean missiles

First, we don't have samurais any more.

Second, if Samurai could have shot down missiles, Japanese could still be spending Shogun era.

And simple question, did you really expect Hiroshima and Nagasaki

bombs would be shot down by samurai?

And one of his staffs should have said to him, " Samurai only use swords

"Oh...so... buy American weapons!!

Call this dial "

Overall, the US& Japan marriage ceremony seemed successful and warming.

Look at this.

They pledged their deep love.

(kissing)

But next day, the husband Mr. Trump left for Korea,

and.. hug different woman!!!!!

That's why I don't believe men...

International marriage always needs patience..

Trump set to announce his decision on listing North Korea as a state terror sponsor - Duration: 1:57.

The United States is set to decide this week... on whether or not it will designate North

Korea... as a state sponsor of terror.

The move would technically impose greater restrictions... on financial transactions

with the North,... on top of the long list of international sanctions that are already

in place.

Yu Joonhee reports.

President Donald Trump is set to announce this week... on whether the U.S. will designate

North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism... to further pressure the regime over its nuclear

and missile developments.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said last Thursday... that Trump would

come to a final decision... by the "early part" of this week.

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster had already hinted at the move,... prior to Trump's

recent visit to Asia... citing the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's half-brother

in Malaysia earlier this year... among other offenses.

(English) "That is an option that's under consideration.

The president's cabinet is looking at this as part of the overall strategy on North Korea."

North Korea was first put on Washington's list of terror sponsors in 1988,... after

it planted a bomb on a South Korean airliner,... which blew up and killed 115 people.

But the designation was removed in 2008,... after Pyongyang met several conditions related

to a nuclear disarmament deal.

As of now, the only countries that remain on the list... are Iran, Syria, and Sudan...

barring North Korea's possible reinstatement.

Some have argued... that the move would have "tangible effects" on the regime's finances...

already suffering from heavy international sanctions... over its continued defiance of

UN Security Council resolutions.

Others say however... that re-listing North Korea as a terror sponsor... would be more

symbolic than anything else... and unlikely to have any significant economic impact.

South Korea's Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa will be making her first trip to Beijing this

week.

She will leave for China on Tuesday and meet with her Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, on

Wednesday.

They will set the stage for South Korea-China summit talks slated to be held next month,

and continue discussions on how the two countries can cooperate to peacefully resolve the North

Korea nuclear issue.

The visit is seen as another sign of improving Seoul-Beijing relations in recent weeks...

after months row over South Korea's decision to deploy the U.S. THAAD anti-missile system

last year.

Suspected AI case confirmed to be highly pathogenic - Duration: 2:16.

The avian influenza that was detected at a farm in the southwest of Korea has been confirmed

to be a highly pathogenic strain.

The government ordered all ducks on the farm to be culled, and placed a 48-hour country-wide

movement ban on poultry.

And the prime minister has rolled up his sleeves to prevent the virus from spreading further.

Lee Ji-won brings us the latest.

The Korean government has confirmed that a suspected bird flu case was found to be highly

pathogenic.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said Sunday that the avian influenza

discovered a day earlier on a duck farm in Gochang, Jeollabuk-do Province,... some 300

kilometers southwest of Seoul,... tested positive as a highly pathogenic strain of H5N6, which

is known to have a 100-percent mortality rate on chickens.

Some twelve-thousand birds on the farm have been slaughtered.

While no other poultry farms are within 500 meters of the infected farm,... the ministry

issued a 48-hour standstill on all poultry farms,... with the measures to remain in effect

for seven days in Gochang and nearby areas.

The ministry will also carry out disinfection on all poultry and livestock farms nationwide,

as well as expanding control stations on major expressways.

The avian influenza alert status was also raised to the highest level in order to stop

the virus from spreading further.

On Monday,...

Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon directed related government ministries and provincial governments

to do everything they can to stop a possible outbreak.

(Korean) "Initial actions and careful site management

are critical in preventing a further outbreak.

Those first actions must be bold and quick,... even if it seems too much,... and a thorough

preventive system must be maintained until the situation is completely under control."

The Prime Minister also ordered an epidemiological investigation to find the source of the infection,

on top of expanding disinfection facilities nationwide.

This is Korea's first bird flu case in five months since the government confirmed the

previous outbreak in July.

Lee Ji-won, Arirang News.
