billions of dollars for energy into Russia and I'm saying what's going on

with that how come Germany is paying vast amounts

of money to Russia when they hook up a pipeline that's not right so you look at

what's going on now so Germany pays 1% the United States is paying close to 4

percent the United States as you said is paying 80% of the cost of NATO do you

think that's fair with all of that being said because of me and you can speak to

the head of NATO mr. Stoltenberg he said that because of what I've said to the

countries they've taken in general I think you'll confirm this to many

billions of dollars more than they would have had if you had crooked Hillary

Clinton as president okay that I can tell you many billions of dollars more

so you know we've been very tough on that we've been very tough on Russia

frankly but I will say that if we got along with Russia that would be a good

thing not a bad thing it's possible we won't we're going to find out whether or

not we do but if we could all get along that would be great and that includes

China and that includes many other countries but we'll see what happens

only time will tell but nobody has been tougher on Russia

but getting along with Russia would be a good thing not a bad thing and just

about everybody agrees to that except very stupid people okay

we'll find out I'll let you know I mean it'll be a time when I'll let you know

you're gonna find out very quickly thank you thank you I have a great respect for

Top diplomats of North Korea, Russian to meet in Moscow on April 10 - Duration: 1:41.

The foreign ministers of North Korea and Russia are scheduled to hold talks in Moscow next

week on the current developments related to the Korean Peninsula.

Kim Hyo-sun tells us more.

North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho is scheduled to sit down with his Russian counterpart

Sergei Lavrov in Moscow next Tuesday.

Russia's Foreign Ministry confirmed Wednesday that Pyongyang's top diplomat will visit Russia

from April 9th to the 11th.

It explained that Ri and Lavrov are expected to discuss the present and future of their

bilateral relations,... adding the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula will also be an important

agenda item.

Ri will be arriving in Russia after attending a ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement

held Thursday through Friday in Azerbaijan,... and after visiting one of the Commonwealth

of Independent States countries.

Meanwhile, North Korea's state-run media has disclosed a reply telegram from Chinese President

Xi Jinping to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

The Korean Central News Agency reports that President Xi sent a message to Kim on March

23rd,... which is seen as an answer to the congratulatory telegram Kim sent to Xi earlier

after his re-election as president.

It also explained that President Xi emphasized the importance of the traditional friendship

between the two allies.

The recovery of their traditional friendship has been highlighted by both the North and

China since Kim's surprise visit to Beijing late last month.

U.S. not in trade war with China, already lost due to foolish mistakes: Trump - Duration: 2:54.

With their trade spat threatening to spill over into an all-out trade war,...

U.S. President Donald Trump has attempted to take the back-and-forth rhetoric with China

down a notch.

He has heaped blame -- not on the Chinese -- but on previous U.S. administrations,...

who he says got the U.S. into the problem in the first place.

Lee Seung-jae reports.

U.S. President Donald Trump,... who just last month, stated that "trade wars are good, and

easy to win",... tried to cool economic anxieties over the huge Chinese tariffs imposed on the

U.S.

He took to Twitter on Wednesday,... saying the U.S. is "not in a trade war with China",...

adding that "the war was lost many years ago by the by the foolish, or incompetent people

who represented the U.S." President Trump went on to say that the U.S.

has a trade deficit with China of 500 billion U.S. dollars a year,... with intellectual

property theft amounting to another 300-billion.

He was apparently referring to a deficit of 506-billion dollars in Chinese exports to

the U.S. last year,... something Trump touched upon during a Cabinet meeting a day earlier.

"Again, our relationship is very good with China and we intend to keep it that way, but

we have to do something to seriously relieve that trade deficit.

We can't have a 500 billion dollar a year trade deficit.

We also have the theft of intellectual property and that probably is in the neighborhood of

200 to 300 billion dollars a year."

U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said on Wednesday that China's recent tariffs on U.S.

exports "should not surprise anyone",... adding he was "a little surprised Wall Street was

so surprised."

According to Ross, China's new tariffs do not represent a threat to the United States

as "it amounts to about three-tenths of a percent" of U.S. GDP.

In response to the trade spat,...

China's Vice Minister of Commerce said that, while Beijing is trying to avoid a trade war,...

they will stand and fight if one starts.

"China does not want a trade war because there will be no winner in a trade war.

If someone insists on starting a trade war, China will fight till the end.

China's stance has been consistent regarding the channels of consultation and communication,

the door is always open for negotiation and consultation."

The remarks come as China imposed its own 25-percent tariff on 50-billion dollars worth

of U.S. exports,... which will affect 106 products, including aircraft, cars and soybeans.

As the world watches on,... fears are growing that the intensifying trade spat between the

two economic superpowers will indeed turn into a full-blown trade war.

Korea celebrates its 73rd Arbor Day - Duration: 1:57.

Korea celebrates its Arbor Day today... when a nationwide campaign to plant trees take

place.

Our Lee Jeong-yeon is here in the studio to tell us more about the day.

So Jeong-yeon, it's Korea's seventy-third Arbor Day... so this is a tradition that stretches

back decades...

Yes, Mark.

Originally Arbor Day or Sikmogil as it's called in Korea... started as a way to fight deforestation.

And while planting trees is still the main idea,... in light of recent environmental

issues like fine dust ( )that's a huge concern for the Korean public,... it's gone beyond

'tree-planting day' to really be a chance for the public and for the government to check

in with the environmental issues that need to be dealt with in general.

So then speaking of fine dust levels, are there any plans by the government in celebration

of Arbor Day this year to deal with it?

Yes, the government is trying to increase the amount of green spaces in the country,

especially in densely populated cities where people are affected the most by this fine

dust issue.

The Korea Forest Service recently drew up contracts with Seoul and Suwon to expand their

city forest reserves to reduce fine dust levels.

( )And according to data released by the agency last May, the average fine dust level in these

reserves was around 26-percent lower than the city center,... while the average ultra-fine

dust level was more than 40 percent lower.

Now the past few weeks, various organizations and communities have been holding tree-planting

events nation-wide in time for Arbor Day, so I went to take a look earlier this week...

Rain to fall in most, much cooler temperatures _ 040518 - Duration: 2:06.

Good afternoon.

South Korea and its neighbors will have cooler conditions with another band of rain in the

forecast for Korea.

Southern coastal regions will see heavier rain -- between 20 to 60 millimeters -- the

rest will see 10 to 40 millimeters.

Today is also Cheongmyeong, meaning "pure brightness" but unlike the term suggests...

we are having a grey and wet day.

Dress accordingly, temperatures are nothing like what we've had lately, the wind will

make it feel colder than the actual temperature readings.

Highs will rise just a couple of notches topping out at 10 degrees in Seoul and Gyeongju, Chuncheon

rising to 9 degrees.

With that, let's take a look at the international weather for viewers around the world.

Most of South Korea will notice much cooler temperatures due to the rain, and many regions

in North Korea will have similar weather to the South.

As for the rest of Asia, Manila and the rest of the Philippines will have cloudy skies

with isolated rain showers

In Wellington, there may be a quiet spell mid-month, but active weather is likely to

return in the third week of the month.

Heading to North America, spring still hasn't properly arrived in New York with another

cold weekend ahead.

As for South America, there will be nothing but sunshine in Santiago and Buenos Aires.

Taking you to Europe,... UK forecasters have issued two severe weather warnings with snow

expected in the North and Scotland, but the South is set to enjoy sunshine and climbing

temperatures.

Lastly to Africa, Addis Ababa will have rain along with scattered thunderstorms.

That's all the weather update for now.

S. Korea celebrates its 73rd Arbor Day - Duration: 2:26.

April 5th marks Arbor Day or Sikmogil here in Korea.

Although the day stopped being a public holiday in 2005, various groups in government offices,

schools, and workplaces are still carrying on with the tradition of tree-planting every

year.

More than 100 people have gathered here to plant around 5000 pine trees for Arbor Day.

Although this practice can still be seen today in South Korea, with each year that passes,

this sight is becoming increasingly harder to come by.

Over the past decade, the number of trees planted in Gyeonggi-do Province decreased

by around 20 percent to 2-point-5 million trees last year while the area decreased by

around 16 percent.

However, experts say the decrease isn't necessarily a negative sign.

"Korea is considered a pretty successful case of reforestation.

It's just less common to plant trees than before because we have less land to fill up."

What's also changed over the years is the types of trees planted.

The most popular choice for reforestation purposes has been the pine tree, but that

has changed due to various reasons such as the spread of pest that thrives off pinewood.

Instead, another type of evergreen tree, the nakyeopsong tree and broad-leaved trees such

as tulip trees are planted more often these days.

The Korea Forest Service has said that in the few months before and after Arbor Day,

they plan to plant around 54-million trees over 22-thousand hectares of land across the

nation.

An official from the organization said that ultimately by 2022, the agency aims to expand

the proportion of nature per square meter in major cities, from around 10 square meters

as it is now,… to around 12 square meters, in order to minimize the negative impact of

fine dust pollution.

(PKG )

So as mentioned earlier, tree-planting may not be as commonplace as it was maybe 20 years

ago, but because of glaringly obvious issues like fine dust, the government is continuously

making efforts to expand green reserves here in Korea.

The more trees, bushes and scrubs, the better I say Thanks for the reporting and happy Arbor

Day, Jeong-yeon.

Russia calls for UN Security Council meeting over Salisbury attack - Duration: 2:00.

We now get the latest on last month's poisoning of a Russian ex-spy in England.

As western nations continue to point the finger at Russia, Moscow has called for an open meeting

of the UN Security Council on Thursday to discuss the matter.

Ro A-ram reports.

Russia's UN ambassador Vassily Nebenzia called for the meeting after his speech on Wednesday

to a council meeting on chemical weapons in Syria.

He reportedly wrote to the UNSC president saying Russia shares the principle that the

use of chemical weapons anywhere "is not acceptable and must be investigated."

Russia has been pressured to admit being involved in the poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his

daughter last month, but Moscow has denied the widespread allegations sparked by Britain.

The British research lab Porton Down on Tuesday said the nerve agent used was military-grade

Novichok, but added that it cannot prove if it is of Russian origin.

Meanwhile, during a meeting of the international chemical weapons watchdog at The Hague on

Wednesday, Russia's proposal to be part of the investigation into the attack was voted

down by 15 to 6, with 17 abstentions.

Despite the rejection, Russia's envoy to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical

Weapons said the number of countries that abstained from the vote showed widespread

uneasiness with Britain.

A series of mishaps by the UK has given Russia a diplomatic advantage and Moscow is jumping

on the opportunity by calling a series of global meetings to make its case.

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson claimed in a recent interview that Porton Down told

him that Russia was to blame for the Salisbury attack.

The UK's Foreign Office also admitted to deleting a tweet, which made similar claims.

This has raised questions as to whether Britain may have overstated its case in accusing Russia.

Two Koreas discuss protocol, security, press coverage for 2018 inter-Korean summit - Duration: 3:08.

The countdown to the inter-Korean summit is on,... with just over three weeks to go until

President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un meet face-to-face for the very

first time.

Working-level officials from the two sides are at the truce village of Panmunjeom on

the border to hammer out some of the many arrangements for the summit on April 27th.

We now cross over to Seoul's Unification Ministry,... where our correspondent Oh Jung-hee is standing

by.

Jung-hee,... what are we hearing so far?

Mark, Seoul's presidential office has confirmed

that South and North Korea began their meeting at the truce village of Panmunjeom roughly

two hours ago... to iron out the details for protocol, security, and press coverage for

the Seoul-Pyongyang summit talks slated for April 27th.

The talks are taking place at the Peace House located on the South Korean side of Panmunjeom

-- the same place where the summit will be held.

But what we are learning right now is... that South Korea made a last minute change to its

delegation.

It had been reported that Seoul will send a five-member delegation led by Cho Han-ki

, a presidential secretary on protocol... but it was confirmed this morning... that

Seoul's delegation has five members... and is led by Kim Sang-gyun , a senior director

from the National Intelligence Service.

North Korea's delegation was not known until this morning -- it has six-members,... led

by Kim Chang-son , an official from the North's state affairs commission.

We are not really sure why such changes in the delegations were made last minute... but

are cautiously seeing that these could be connected to Pyongyang's request on Tuesday

night... to delay the talks by a day.

Today's talks were originally supposed to take place on Wednesday.

Jung-hee, could you walk us through the agenda for today's talks as well...

The items on the agenda for today's talks aren't clearly known at this point, but we

expect the route North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will take to the Peace House on the day of

the summit could be decided.

He has two options -- either walking across the land border or getting to the location

by car.

But to add some drama to the occasion,... he could choose to cross the land border on

foot.

The officials from Seoul and Pyongyang could also discuss specific schedules for the summit

talks, the size of the entourage for both leaders,... and whether to broadcast the April

27th summit **live.

How the two leaders will have lunch and dinner... and whether their wives will accompany the

leaders to the summit are also expected to be discussed.

Meanwhile, the two Koreas are holding another round of working-level talks this Saturday.

This time -- on communication.

The talks will most likely deal with establishing a hotline for the leaders of South and North

Korea to communicate directly with each other.

Mark.

Incorporating lime - can it boost fertiliser response? - Duration: 3:21.

I'm Craig Scanlan I'm a research officer with the department of agriculture and

food in WA and we've been investigating the impact of changes in soil pH after

lime application on how the grain yield of crops respond to fertilizer application

and overall we've found that changes in soil pH have the greatest effect on yield

response to phosphorus fertilizer followed by potassium in terms of order

of magnitude followed by nitrogen then micronutrients. So with phosphorous in

general we find that an increase in soil pH has the greatest effect on yield at

low rates of P in that the difference in grain yield between an acidic and a

treated soil at a low rate of P is higher than the difference that you

would be that you would see at higher rates a piece a at 20 and 25 kilos P so

really the the applied outcome of that is that under acidic soils your or in

when your soils have pH say less than 5 particularly less than 4.8

and 4.5 that grain yield is highly sensitive to P rate and as you

increase soil pH and grain yield is less sensitive to p rate. With potassium we

have found at higher rate so up to five tons per hectare that lime has displaced

potassium in some cases down as far as 40 centimeters but it's not really

changing grain yield response to K except in one case where two and a half

time tons of lime was enough to increase cation exchange capacity

actually increase Colwell k in the surface so that increase in Co LK that

led to an increase in grain yield lined up pretty well with current critical

levels. We've also done a bit of work on soil inversion on water repellant soils

to examine how that changes the residual value of phosphorus and potassium

fertilizers over a four year period and we've actually found that grain yield is

basically insensitive to phosphorus and potassium management at site at that

site and it is far more sensitive to early seasonal conditions particularly

rainfall during autumn which affects the yield response to a soil inversion so we

we do see a yield benefit from soil inversion when we have drier conditions

in autumn and we've seen no benefit from soil inversion where we've had wetter

conditions on a water repellent soil

Live broadcast of Park Geun-hye's sentencing trial to take place tomorrow - Duration: 1:41.

The sentencing of former President Park Geun-hye will take place Friday,… and the court is

preparing for the historic first live broadcast of a trial of an ex-South Korean leader.

But Park Geun-hye is unlikely to attend her trial.

Won Jung-hwan reports.

Faced with 18 charges including bribery, abuse of power and leaking state secrets,... three

decades in prison may mean that Park, who is 66 years old, spends the rest of her life

behind bars.

In February,…

South Korean prosecutors demanded former President Park Geun-hye serve 30 years in jail for her

role in the massive corruption scandal that led to her impeachment and fall from grace.

Park's sentencing trial by the lower court will take place Friday afternoon, and for

the first time in South Korea's history, the sentencing of a former president will be broadcast

live.

Park Geun-hye was removed from office last year on the back of a massive influence-peddling

scandal.

She is accused of accepting bribes in exchange for political favors for a number of the country's

biggest conglomerates such as SK, Samsung, and Lotte.

The live broadcast has become possible after the Supreme Court amended the rules last year

to allow the live broadcasts in certain circumstances and if the hearing is of public interest.

But the impeached former president is unlikely to attend her trial,... as she has been boycotting

court proceedings since last October.

Won Jung-hwan, Arirang News.
