Daily Phrasal Verbs IV - At The Office - English Vocabulary Lesson - Duration: 6:58.

Word Wednesday starts right now!

Hey guys it's Michael here from Happy English

and welcome back to another

Word Wednesday English lesson.

Each week on Wednesday we're going to talk about

different ways to help you improve

and remember vocabulary.

For today's Word Wednesday lesson, we're going to

continue with daily phrasal verbs.

Today's topic is THE MEETING.

First we're going to listen to a story which has

the phrasal verbs in context.

After the story, I'm going to go over the

meaning and usage of each phrasal verb.

Are you ready?

Let's check it out!

We usually pencil in a marketing meeting for Thursdays.

Sometimes we need to put off the meeting

until Fridays, because something can come up unexpectedly.

Honestly, I hate when the boss calls off a meeting at the last minute,

but you can't tell the boss to knock it off, can you?

Anyway my job is to put together the

social media report.

I break down all of the data that I pull off from our

servers.

It takes a few hours to look into everything

and I have to look through a number of different reports

The boss wants us to fill him in on everything.

OK, that's the story and now

let's take a look at

the meaning and usage of these phrasal verbs.

Keep in mind you can get a free downloadable PDF

of these examples by clicking this link.

When you write something with a pencil

it can be changed or erased right?

Well when you pencil in an appointment or

something on a schedule,

it can be changed.

So, that's why you pencil it in.

We usually pencil in a marketing meeting for Thursdays.

Yeah, I can pencil you in for an English lesson

on Tuesday.

Just let me know

when you can confirm the schedule.

Well, I'll pencil that in for April 1st,

then when we get closer to the date

we can confirm.

Put off means to postpone or delay doing something.

Sometimes we need to put off the meetings

until Fridays.

Jim put off all his vacation plans

because his kids got sick.

Don't put off something until tomorrow

if you can do it today.

When something comes, up it happens unexpectedly.

When we use come up with this meaning,

we're usually talking about a problem

or other negative situation.

A problem came up in my excel sheet

and I can't figure out why.

We put off the meeting because something came up.

I should be able to leave the office by

seven o'clock, but I'll text you if something comes up.

Call off means to cancel.

You can call off a meeting, a trip, a party and so on.

I hate when the boss calls off a meeting

at the last minute.

We called off the golf game because of the rain.

Even if we have a snowstorm,

I am NOT going to call off the party.

When someone does something that annoys you

or bothers you, you can tell them to knock it off.

Knock it off means stop annoying me

or stop bothering me.

You can't tell your boss to knock it off, can you?

The children were misbehaving in the class

so the teacher told them to knock it off.

Hey!

Knock it off!

I'm trying to study.

Put together means to create or assemble something

from various parts.

I don't like shopping

at that big furniture store because you

have to put together everything you buy.

My job is to put together the social media report for the meeting.

Jenny put together a very nice party for my birthday.

Break down has a number of meanings, but

for this lesson we're focusing on the

meaning of analyze.

When you break down

information, you analyze it.

I broke down all of the data that I pulled off from

our servers.

Tommy broke down the budget for us at the meeting.

Grammar can be complicated,

so sometimes you just need to break it down.

We use pull off when we

talk about gathering data or information

from a computer or online.

I pulled off the sales data from the server.

You can't publish photos that you pull off from

Google Images, because most of them

already hold a copyright.

I pulled off a few news stories online

to use in my class.

When you look into something, you

investigate that thing.

It takes a few hours to look into all of that data.

My car was making a strange noise this morning,

so the mechanic said he would

look into it.

We have to look into the possibility of

opening a branch office in Boston.

We use look through to mean

search for something in a number of different sources.

I have to look through several reports.

I found a funny video of a cat

when I was looking through videos on YouTube.

Fill in is a casual phrase which means

to give someone information.

The boss wants us to fill him in on everything.

I missed the class today, but one of my

classmates filled me in.

I'm going to ask the manager about the vacation policy

and I'll fill you in about what he says.

OK, that's the end of today's

Word Wednesday English lesson.

Keep in mind, if you want to remember vocabulary

You need to take each word,

write it in a sentence that's true for you

and then study and memorize your sentences.

Thanks for watching.

Thanks for subscribing...

and I'll catch you guys next time right here

at Happy English.

Catch you later!

Rams defensive back Marcus Peters had some choice words for Saints coach Sean Payton

After what could turn out to be a potential playoff contest, Payton said he really liked the receiver-cornerback matchup New Orleans had against Peters and Los Angeles

"They were going to travel Marcus to him and that was fine by us," he said during the postgame press conference Sunday, via NFL

com. "We thought we really liked that matchup, a lot."  But, Peters didn't like what the veteran coach had to say

"Tell Sean Payton to keep talking that s—," Peters said. "We're going to see him soon

Carmelo Anthony, lost in new NBA, must confront harsh truth about his future - Duration: 9:57.

Deep in the summer of 2003, I had lunch with Carmelo Anthony at a diner in Denver, where he'd been working out after having been drafted with the No

3 pick by the Nuggets. After, he was giving me a ride to his place downtown, and as he backed out of his parking spot — he'd been worn out from a morning training session — he knocked the back bumper of his rental car into a tree, leaving a furrowed fender

I'll never forget what kind of car it was: a white Cadillac. No, not an Escalade

A sedan. You know, with those classic, long, rectangular brake lights. It was as if Anthony should have had white shoes and a condo in Boca Raton

I should have known right then and there that Anthony's game would prove, eventually, to be too old school for the NBA

TRADE GRADES: 76ers take calculated risk with Butler deal  Fifteen years later, that's the sad truth of Anthony's final days in the league

He's had knee surgery and he's 34 years old, but neither age nor injury have caused his career to hit the rocks, a reality that came into sharp focus this weekend

Just 10 games into his career as a bench player with the Rockets, Anthony was held out of back-to-back games in order to discuss his role with the team

That's been translated to mean that Anthony soon will be cut by Houston, which has struggled to a 6-7 record after finishing last year with a league-best 65 wins

GM Daryl Morey labeled that speculation "unfair," but Anthony remains away from the team

He has not been great for the Rockets, averaging 13.4 points in 29.4 minutes per game on 40

5 percent shooting and 32.8 percent 3-point shooting.  But he's hardly been the reason Houston has struggled, and should the Rockets choose to set him free, he will have been scapegoated for the team's bigger problems

For Anthony, Houston might well have been his last chance. He was brought to the team, in part, because of his tight friendship with Chris Paul

Around the league, there won't be teams clamoring to add him. You can only have so many pals with influence

League executives contacted by Sporting News speculated that Miami, which has been looking to add scoring punch off the bench, would be the most likely landing spot for Anthony

The Heat and Anthony's representatives met to discuss the 10-time All-Star forward possibly joining the team before he signed with Houston last summer

Anthony, notably, also is a close friend of team mainstay Dwyane Wade.  Even if he did get a new deal to finish this season elsewhere, glumness looms over this stage of Anthony's career

He is a Hall of Famer just playing out the string. When next spring hits, Anthony probably will be wrapping up his time in the NBA, and he won't be doing so on his own terms

A job with any of the league's 30 teams will be hard to find, and Anthony's best chance at a continued pro paycheck will be on foreign shores, possibly China

Thing is, even at 34, Anthony can still do some of the things he did a decade ago

He still has his old skill set. Anthony remains one of the league's best isolation scorers, logging 1

14 points per possession, according to NBA.com stats. That's in the 80th percentile

That number was not as good last year in Oklahoma City (0.89), but it was still well above average

It was 0.99, in the 78th percentile, in 2016-17 when Anthony was still with the Knicks

Back then, he was third in the league in isolation possessions, at 5.3 per game, behind only James Harden and Russell Westbrook, the top two vote-getters in that year's MVP race

MORE: Mike D'Antoni rips Rockets' offense  But Anthony's specialty is running isolation plays for midrange jumpers

According to Basketball-Reference.com, Anthony is a career 40.3 percent shooter from 10-16 feet and a 41

6 percent shooter from 16 feet out to the 3-point line.  Those are good numbers for both ranges

In fact, Anthony has had his two best seasons from 10-16 feet in the last two years, and he was excellent from 16 feet out in his final two years with the Knicks, when he made 45

5 percent of those shots.  Back in Anthony's early days, that was remarkable shooting accuracy

You'd have to tap deep into your recesses to recall exactly what NBA basketball was like in that era

Consider the 2003 NBA Finals, in which the Spurs won by shooting 43.2 percent from the field, well ahead of the brick-happy Nets, who made 37

0 percent.  During the Finals, Spurs center David Robinson wistfully remembered the lost art of the midrange jumper

"I've seen a dramatic lowering of the number of guys who can really shoot that midrange shot," Robinson said at that time

"When I came in, there were a lot of guys who could make shots from about 17 feet — make them on the move

Now, it seems like there are a lot more extreme guys, either guys who can stand there and shoot 3s or guys who can get to the rim, but not many guys who are really good in-between shooters

"  That was 15 years ago, just months ahead of Anthony's NBA debut, when teams attempted an average of 14

7 3-pointers per game, a number that has more than doubled, to 31.4 per game, by this season

If Robinson and others like him wanted a triumphant return of midrange accuracy, at the time, Anthony was their messiah

Of course, as the game progressed, the midrange jumper went from lost art to NBA pariah, banished by the simple math of analytics

Players now might just as well punt the ball toward the rim from midcourt as attempt the much-scorned midrange jumper

MORE: What happens when NBA stars leave? Road back isn't easy  That's always been Anthony's real problem

He was designed for the mid-2000s NBA, for gobbling up the shot clock while slowly backing a defender into a turnaround midrange jumper

Analysts, media members, fans and scouts have harped on his need to change his game, to adopt an approach that would take advantage of the game's current emphasis on shots at the basket and 3-pointers

But Anthony never has had the physical skills — even in his youth he was not an elite athlete — to be a great finisher at the rim, and he's never been much of a defender

Though he has put together some good 3-point shooting seasons, he's a career 34.7 percent shooter from the arc and has finished above the league average only five times in his career

That's why the teams for which Anthony has played have a sum total of one conference finals appearance, one conference semifinals appearance and nine first-round exits

In a league that demands more and more commitment to attacking the rim and shooting 3s, Anthony at his best has been only mediocre at both

Now, Anthony is far from his best. He is older and heavier in the foot. We've seen great players of the past arrive in their mid-30s a half-step slower but carrying a certain amount of accumulated wisdom that allows them to be effective by leaning on their brains as much as their physical talent

But Anthony's accumulated experience is still stuck in 2004, still reliant on his ability to back down opponents and launch low-efficiency, closely-defended midrange jumpers

Coaches don't want those shots anymore. No matter where he goes from here, whether he stays in Houston or moves on, Anthony remains a Cadillac sedan in a Tesla league

He has enviable scoring skill, always has. In the depths of the NBA's mid-2000s shooting woes, there was plenty of reason to believe that Anthony would transform the game

Instead, the game transformed without him and rendered his talents useless.  For a player as good as Anthony but so completely mismatched to today's NBA, the goal must change

Anthony can't keep trying to find a contender to which he can contribute. That time has passed

Now, he just must find a way to exit with some grace and dignity.

OnePlus 6T vs iPhone XS Max: In-Depth Camera Test Comparison - Duration: 9:44.

Hi guys, it's KJ the MiTechGuy here, and today I have another interesting camera comparison

for you guys.

I will be comparing the cameras found on the OnePlus 6T and the iPhone XS Max.

This is actually a pretty interesting camera comparison because the XS Max literally costs

twice as much as the 6T does.

In this video, I'll be comparing the cameras in various lighting conditions, both indoors

and outdoors, and I will also take a look at the video and audio qualities of both phones.

Make sure to stick around to the end of the video to see how the OnePlus 6T's night

mode performs.

Huge shoutout to Xcentz for sponsoring this video.

Let's get right into it.

The OnePlus 6T houses a main 16 Megapixel sensor that has an aperture of f/1.7.

Its second camera is 20 Megapixels, but has the same aperture and focal length as its

main sensor.

OnePlus says the 2nd camera helps out with portrait mode shots.

The iPhone XS Max has a dual 12-Megapixel camera setup with a main camera with slightly

smaller aperture at f/1.8.

It can capture portrait mode shots with the help of its 2x optical zoom telephoto camera

that has an aperture of f/2.4.

Both phones are capable of shooting 4K video at 30 and 60 frames per second, whereas the

XS Max is also capable of shooting 4K at 24 FPS.

In terms of the front cameras of both phones, the OnePlus 6T's 16 megapixel camera actually

has more than double the megapixel count of the 7 megapixel TrueDepth sensor found on

the XS Max.

These cameras can record 1080p video.

Now I'm going to get into the side-by-sides.

I'm going to start off with pictures taken in ideal lighting scenarios and then I'm

going to look at images taken in progressively worse lighting scenarios until I get to night

time shooting.

And finally, I'll test the video and audio.

This first image shows right off the bat that both of these camera systems are really good.

Somethings I do notice though are the facts that there is a bit more color on the building

and overall, highlights are better exposed in the XS's image.

The XS does have that telephoto lens, so if I had to zoom in and just take a picture of

the building, I would have to just software zoom on the 6T, which results in a good picture,

but noticeably not as detail as the XS's.

Here, the pictures captured by each phone are fantastic.

There are tons of detail and colors look great.

The only real differences arise from the fact that the XS will tend to take the warmer images,

whereas the 6T tends to take the cooler images.

Again, both images are excellent, and the only real differences come in how the colors

are processed.

The 6T clearly has the more saturated image.

Some people love this look, while others hate it.

Let me know where you stand on image saturation down below.

Apple really stepped up their portrait mode game with the XS and XS Max, and a lot of

people really love how the colors turn out on the XS's portrait shots.

OnePlus also really stepped up their image processing on portrait shots and the 6T also

takes very high quality portrait pictures.

All of these side-by-sides were taken from the same vantage point, and right after one

another.

In my opinion, the XS takes the more detailed and overall more visually appealing pictures,

but I also know a lot of people who would really take advantage of the wider-angled

portrait shots taken by the 6T, which aren't bad at all.

The selfie camera of the 6T picks up a ton of detail because of its high megapixel count,

but it also manages to wash out a lot of the colors on my face and in the sky.

The XS's selfie on the other hand, is clearly not as detailed, but the colors look so much

more flattering.

Looking at portrait mode selfies, I can see that both struggled with my hair, as expected,

but at least the XS Max was able to maintain all of the colors in the image.

The 6T's image is bright, but everything is overexposed.

So the two cameras, for the most part, performed pretty good in ideal lighting, which was exactly

what I expected.

So now I'm going to start looking at images shot in non-ideal lighting inside and outside.

This first scenario used to be a very challenging lighting scenario for cameras.

Light is coming in from the background, but both phones do a great job with maintaining

the details in the foreground.

Again, the 6T has the more saturated image, so you can determine for yourself the image

that you prefer.

This lighting situation is interesting because of the fact that the skylights are the only

real light sources.

The 6T actually did the better job of properly exposing the skylights themselves, whereas

the XS kept the entire foreground brighter with help from its Super HDR feature.

On the other hand, this image shows how great the HDR features of the 6T are.

The sun is coming in through the trees, and while the XS was able to maintain more of

the color in the sky, the 6T was able to keep the foreground brighter, while still not allowing

the sun to overpower the image.

Here, the sun was setting and again I was really impressed with how both cameras processed

the image.

The colors are different because of the warm vs cold trends I mentioned earlier, but both

phones were able to pick up a ton of detail given the lighting situation.

Previous OnePlus phones never really performed too well in low light, but now with the 6T's

new night mode, I'm curious how the two phones stack up.

These two pictures were taken in the automatic modes of both devices.

The 6T's image is good and has minimal noise, but the XS I think, took the more natural-looking

picture with colors that are more like what I saw.

With night mode turned on, I am honestly underwhelmed with this shot.

It seems as if the image got even more washed out on the 6T's image.

Let's look at some other shots though.

Now this is the type of shot I expect from a night mode picture.

The longer 3 second exposure was able to get much more information in the shadows of the

image so the 6T was able to pull out more of the colors.

Still, I'd like to commend the XS's ability to take pretty good pictures at night almost

instantly.

The 6T's night mode isn't the best implantation out right now, but if you stay still for those

three seconds, you can get good shots.

I just wish, it did a better job of maintaining the colors on illuminated signs.

Nonetheless, the night mode on the 6T will result in pictures that are overall brighter

because it was simply able to take in more information due to the 3 seconds it takes

to capture each image.

Now for video.

Both phones are capable of shooting 4K video at up to 60 FPS, but I set both to 4K at 30

FPS because that is what this video was uploaded at.

From my experience, the iPhone XS actually has 4K video that is more on the saturated

side when compared to other camera systems.

But when I look at the XS's video next to that of the 6T, the XS actually seems like

the much more naturally looking video.

I don't know what OnePlus was thinking when they made the 4K video this saturated.

The stabilization is decent and it does pick up a lot of detail, but it is impossible to

look past the fact that it looks like there is a fake filter placed over the 6T's video.

As I've said in previous camera comparisons, it is a lot harder to remove saturation than

to add saturation in videos.

Nonetheless, there are people out there that like the colorful look of the 6T's video,

and I respect that they hold that opinion.

It just isn't what I prefer.

In terms of the front camera video qualities of both phones, I'd say that the 6T actually

picked up more details on my face and hair, and also had better image stabilization as

I walked.

Both phones didn't really get my skin tone right, but both phones actually did pretty

good jobs overall in terms of the quality of the video itself.

But when I talk about audio, there is clearly an advantage with the XS.

My voice sounds so much fuller on the XS when compared to the tinny audio on the 6T.

Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Before I give my final thoughts about these two camera systems, I wanted to talk to you

about a cool product from Xcentz, who made this video possible.

I even have a coupon code for you guys.

No matter what device you own, you're probably used to carrying around a bunch of these wall

adapters.

They could get bulky, and only some can charge your device fast.

The Xcentz 5-port USB charging station changes the way you charge.

You can set this up on a table, or throw it in your bag, and now all you need is this

one charging station for all of your devices.

It can charge your devices very fast and takes up such little space.

You can expect to top-up your devices' batteries in as little as 35 minutes when using quick

charge 3.0.

It even has advanced safety features like short-circuit and overload protection.

Top this all off with the fact that it looks good and has a non-slip bottom, and it's

clear why I use this every day.

Use the discount code below to receive 27% off of your purchase.

For the most part, I think the OnePlus 6T put up a decent fight against the iPhone XS.

And we cannot simply gloss over the fact that the XS Max literally starts at a price twice

as much as the 6T.

I know that more times than not, the XS's images were better than the 6T's, but it

is impossible to say that the XS produced images that are twice as good.

There were even some images where I can totally see a majority of people choosing the 6T's

image in a blind test.

There's just the little things like proper exposure, 4K video saturation and audio that

are holding the 6T back from more expensive devices.

But the nice thing is that a lot of these issues can potentially be solved through software

updates.

Put D'Angelo Russell in the NBA All-Star Game - Duration: 6:46.

D'Angelo Russell scored 19 straight points in the second quarter of Brooklyn's come-from-behind victory over Orlando on Friday

It was the most consecutive points scored by any player this season, and it helped the Nets rally from down 19 to secure a 117-115 win

Brooklyn is the hottest team in the NBA, having won 16 of their last 21 games since going 8-18 to start the season

The Nets are in the playoff hunt for the first time in years, with the sixth-best record in the Eastern Conference

They're above .500 without Caris LeVert, who is set to return from his foot injury in the second half of this season, and without first-round pick Dzanan Musa, who has had nagging injuries that have kept him off the court

Brooklyn's success has been a team effort, but Russell is leading it while emerging as an All-Star candidate during the team's hot streak

Russell is averaging career-highs in points (19), assists (6.4), three-point percentage (37

4), field goal percentage (43.7) and free throw percentage (81). He's upped those numbers to 20 points and 7

1 assists per game during Brooklyn's 21-game stretch. Reporter: Is D'Angelo Russell an All-Star?Kenny Atkinson: D'Angelo, what can I say? This last month and a half he's been out of his mind

He's just playing great basketball. Russell has averaged 19.9 points on 44% from the field, 36% from 3 and 7

1 assists his last 25 games.— Michael Scotto (@MikeAScotto) January 19, 2019 This is a legitimate All-Star push Russell a far cry from the player NBA legend and Lakers president Magic Johnson said wasn't a leader before trading him to Brooklyn and drafting Lonzo Ball as the Lakers' point guard of the future

Russell is proving he is a leader on this Nets team that watched its best player suffer a gruesome injury early in the season

He's playing like those who watched him play college ball at Ohio State knew he could all along

Russell's 19-point second-quarter burst against the Magic was only a fraction of the 40-point game he had on the night

Brooklyn's point guard shot 64 percent from the field and made eight of his 12 three-point attempts

He also hit the dagger, go-ahead step-back three over Evan Fournier to give Brooklyn a 117-113 lead with less than 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter

D'Angelo Russell couldn't be stopped as the @BrooklynNets get another comeback victory! ❄️ : 40 PTS | 8 3PM | 7 AST#WeGoHard pic

twitter.com/EPDovb23vW— NBA TV (@NBATV) January 19, 2019 Russell's 40-point game tied his career-high, but it wasn't the only time he's lit the floor up

He's averaging 23 points and 7.4 assists on 50-40-90 club numbers (50 percent from the field, 43

8 percent from three, 93 percent from the foul line) in the month of January. It's a consistency the Nets have welcomed as their best prospect morphs into the best version of himself

Related D'Angelo Russell is the lottery pick the Nets never had Remember: Russell also hit the dagger shot against the Lakers when they came to Brooklyn in mid-December, a shot that sealed a win against a team that had LeBron James on the floor

It also doubled as one of the biggest games of Russell's season. He downplayed it, but it was palpable that against the team that traded him meant the world

He scored 22 points and set a new career-high with 13 assists on the night. D'Angelo Russell came up BIG against his former team in the @BrooklynNets win! ❄️ : 22 PTS | 13 AST (career-high)#WeGoHard pic

twitter.com/HClSg6fCus— NBA TV (@NBATV) December 19, 2018 Russell also scored 34 points and hit seven threes in Brooklyn's win over the Kyrie Irving-less Boston Celtics

RT YESNetwork "Is D'Angelo Russell the Most Improved Player in the #NBA this season? pic

twitter.com/cfI0GERbTy"— Pinstripe Road Trip (@YankeeOnTheRoad) January 15, 2019 He also scored 32 points on 13-of-19 shooting in just 29 minutes in a win over the Hawks

D'Angelo Russell put up 32 PTS (13-19 FG), 7 AST, 6 REB in 29 MINS during the Nets 144-127 win vs the Hawks

This was the Nets 5th win in a row after losing 8 in a row. pic.twitter.com/gG5KmA6MDT— Ballislife

com (@Ballislife) December 17, 2018 And you can't forget his 29 points in Brooklyn's overtime win over Kawhi Leonard's Toronto Raptors

D'Angelo Russell (29 PTS) came up clutch to lead the @BrooklynNets to an OT win over Toronto! ❄️ #WeGoHard pic

twitter.com/aKbnJRgoXp— NBA TV (@NBATV) December 8, 2018 The NBA All-Star Game is a popularity contest, and Russell's name did not even show on the NBA's third All-Star voting returns

If you combine team record with individual stats, though, he is having a better season than at least three Eastern Conference guards who were in the top-10 of guards who received votes

The 3rd returns for #NBAAllStar game voting are here!!Thoughts? pic.twitter.com/DFamjaxGss— SB Nation (@SBNation) January 17, 2019 The good news, though, is that only the All-Star starters are chosen by the fans — and their votes are only weighed as 50 percent of the vote

The reserves are selected by head coaches. Brooklyn might not be the most popular team, but they have earned the respect of their peers with their year-to-year improvement

Russell has emerged as an All-Star in Brooklyn, and Spencer Dinwiddie has become a stud off the bench, too

Two stars are emerging on this Nets roster, and their best player is coming back from injury in the coming months
