in terms of data rates, but also in terms of capacity and latency.

And thus make lightning-fast reactions in the network possible.

Blockchain, the Internet of Things or autonomous driving will thus reach completely new dimensions.

A warm welcome

10 Gigabit per second (GBit/s), i.e. 10,000 Megabit per second (Mbit/s), should be the

transmission bandwidth of the new 5G mobile radio standard - these are really unimaginable

speeds!

The best rate available with the current LTE networks in regular operation is 300 Mbit/s

and most smartphone users only have tariffs with a maximum of 50 Mbit/s.

Just to make it clear: With 5G you could load a movie about 600 times faster than with the

best DSL connection.

Wow!

But not only these 5G data rates have it in them.

5G should above all shorten the running time of the signals in the network.

This is by a factor of 40 compared to LTE.

The so-called latency, i.e. signal delay, is then only one millisecond or less.

In practice, this means that applications controlled via the Internet have such short

response times that they can no longer be perceived by humans.

Delays in conversations will be a thing from the past.

Which is totally annoying.

And this is not only exciting for conversations or gamers, but especially for the industry.

Just think of cars that communicate in real time or human-machine interactions.

Virtual and augmented reality: VR or AR (Augumented Reality).

For example, service technicians could receive the necessary instructions via data glasses.

Throughout the 5G history, the Federal Network Agency has an important role to play.

It is responsible for ensuring that the frequency allocation procedure is objective and transparent.

This is what the website says: "Digitisation is progressing rapidly.

This is accompanied by a growing demand for high data rates and increasing consumer mobility.

For sustainable digital infrastructures, suitable frequencies must be made available to market

participants at an early stage and in line with requirements.

(...) This should enable a fast, flexible and demand-oriented 5G rollout in Germany."

But what's the technology behind it?

On the one hand, the number of antennas for 5G must be increased significantly - there

could then be more antennas in a cell than users.

The technical term for such antenna systems is "Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output",

in short: Massive MIMO.

In addition, the networks for 5G will have to become denser, so that the average distance

between the base stations will be much smaller than with LTE.

Higher frequencies will then have to be used for data transmission because the frequency

spectrum currently used which is between 0.8 and 2.6 gigahertz is full.

Specifically, we're talking about the range from 6 to 300 gigahertz - and it's thus

also referred to as millimeter wave technology.

Another point is the decentralized organization of mobile radio networks.

In concrete terms, this means that certain data from a radio cell is filtered and processed

directly in the associated station and not sent far away.

With regard to the technical requirements, the Federal Network Agency states: ""With

our supply requirements, we are reaching the limits of what is economically reasonable

and legally possible.

By the end of 2022, we oblige every provider to set up at least 500 stations in addition

to the requirements for roads and households for 5G.

For example, in the case of three providers, we are talking about 1500 stations in Germany

alone with which the new mobile communications standard must be introduced.

In addition, each provider must set up a further 500 masts to improve coverage in rural areas

by at least 100 megabits per second."

But experts agree that LTE is not even fully developed yet and a 5G super network will

slowly develop.

On the way there, 4.5G could also be an intermediate step.

At least the mobile radio network for the mainstream will probably remain 4G for at

least the next five years.

From 2020, experts expect the first 5G islands for certain applications.

According to the Federal Network Agency, the auction of 5G frequencies is scheduled for

the first quarter of 2019.

It remains to be seen whether other companies besides Vodafone, Telekom and Telefonica will

bid for the frequencies.

By the end of 2022, however, at least 98 percent of households in Germany for example will

have to be supplied with a data rate of 100 megabits per second.

So far, the target for the three major established network operators has been to supply at least

97 percent of households with 50 Mbit/s by 2020.

The successful bidder must then also ensure that all federal highways and motorways are

supplied with 100 Mbit/s by the end of 2022.

This will be an absolute revolution.

We will have completely new apps, software and websites with quite sophisticated applications.

Photo Restoration Tutorial - Part 4 - Spot Removal - Duration: 11:51.

Do you have spots in your old family photos that you would like to get rid of

I'm going to show you how to do that using Photoshop right now. Welcome back

to another episode on Genealogy TV. This is the fourth video in the Walls Family

Photo Restoration series, where I'm showing you how to go from this image to

this image using Photoshop Creative Cloud, but first let me introduce myself

if you're new here my name is Connie Knox. I am a lifelong genealogist, video

professional and photographer here to help you go further faster with your

family research. Let's jump into the Spot Healing Brush tool to remove those spots.

In previous episodes we had created this image starting with this image that had

a large crack in it and then I created a selection of just the corner and was

able to move that corner into place so that we could then work on fixing this

crack in the image and then what we did using the Spot Healing Brush tool was we

were able to fix that crack for the most part we still have a little work to do

on it but one of the things that I noticed was that all of this font here

in my layers menu is getting rather obnoxious it's it's in my way and so

what we can do is we can turn all this on so you can see what I'm talking about

in the very first episode in this series we labeled all of the walls family here

so that we could properly name everybody in it so what we can do is we can select

these layers and I'm going to hold the shift key down and so that I select all

of the font layers and then I'm going to create them into a group and now they

are grouped as you can see if we twirl this out there they are and now we can

turn them all off and on with one click of this little eyeball here and so I'm

gonna rename this by double clicking and I'm just gonna call it font and so now I

can turn that off and continue working but now that is cleaned up a little bit

so that I can see my layers exactly as I wish now going back to the last layer we

worked on in the is the one where we had used the Spot

Healing Brush tool I'm going to turn this on and I like to use a different

layer for every step of the process so what I'm gonna do is I'm going to you

ctrl J to create a copy of that layer and I'm gonna go back and I'm gonna name

this one Spot Healing crack because that's what I did I was using the Spot

Healing Brush tool on the crack so now we're going to start working on this

layer and we can turn the others off but you're because they're underneath this

layer you're not going to see them and we're going to come over here to the

zoom tool and we're going to come in really close and I'm going to show you

how to get rid of some of these spots now I'm going to hold the spacebar down

and so that it gives me the move tool and I'm going to work on just some of

these spots to give you an idea of how you can do this back here pretty

effectively so coming up here oops wrong tool we can grab the Spot Healing Brush

tool again and we want that circle we're going to try and clean up these little

spots but we want that circle to be just slightly larger than the spot that we

are fixing and so by clicking on it we can go and remove some of these spots

and what it's doing is its sampling the pixels around that area replacing the

spot with the pixels from in the image around it so I'm gonna again hold the

space bar down and I'm gonna move so that I'll have to zoom in and out and

I'm just going to keep working my way around some of these spots now you can

actually drag this across the line like that and it will replace but sometimes

it's visible so that's why you want to use the smallest brush that you can you

can adjust the brush up here with the size or what I prefer to do I'm going to

come back and fix that one right there I prefer to use the brackets those are the

big square brackets if you just click on the left bracket it makes it smaller you

click on the right bracket it makes the brush larger and it is much faster you

use the keyboard shortcuts now this here is going to be a challenge I'm going to

click on it see what happens and see it left a little smudge I'm

gonna undo ctrl Z and I may come over here and click around it to get it as

close as possible and instead of using the brush healing tool in his hairline

I'm gonna use the clone tool which is right here the clone stamp tool and I'm

gonna zoom in so you can see what I'm doing

move over using the spacebar again I'm gonna grab the clone tool again and

I'm going to hold the Alt key down so that I'm sampling part of his hair that

brush might be a little big I'm gonna make the brush smaller again I'm going

to sample I'm gonna sample right here and I'm gonna move that right here and

I'm gonna click and paste basically is what I'm doing and you can kind of see

the edge of his hairline now I'm going to grab another sample right here and

I'm going to come up with it to meet the other sample and then I'm gonna grab a

sample right here and I'm gonna cover it up here and now it's a little bit better

now I'm can grab a sample right here and come and ever so closely so now we've

got a little bit better of a hairline I'm gonna go back to the Spot Healing

Brush tool while my brush is way too big now so I'm gonna go really small and try

and fix a couple of these other spots while I'm in here

and as we continue to work our way around the image we can go through and

we can clean up all these little spots and so that is a quick way to help clean

up the spots so as I work on this I thought you might be interested to hear

a little bit about the walls family they lived in Ronda in Wilkes County North

Carolina this was my mother-in-law's family now

this young man is my husband's grandfather

I have already done some work on his photograph but you've got to be really

careful around faces especially around the eyes his name was Clarence Monroe

walls now this young man's name is C Ernest I assume he went by Ernest and

this is James walls and I had previously worked on James's face just a little bit

this is bevel Hampton walls and this was my husband's great-grandfather and he

was born in 1866 in rondo in Ronda which is Wilkes County North Carolina and he

died also in Wilkes County in 1949 now keep in mind we don't want to clean up

all these that's actually the fabric of aura

this is aura over here so we got to be careful not to remove the original

content look at those eyes moving on this is Mary Melinda or also known as

Mollie Mollie was born in 1867 look at her eyes holy cow now that is not a

scratch that's actually shadows under her eyes

now Mollie was also born in Wilkes County on the 5th of April 1867 and her

maiden name was Gilliam she also died in Wilkes County my records show she died

in a place called Edwards other than that I'm not gonna over doctor this

photograph I like to have my images look reasonably like the original I like that

old look you know it's it is an art photo restoration and it's kind of like

in the eye of the beholder and this this is my I I like I like do like the

texture of the original grain of the negatives and so I will leave a lot of

it alone now this is Charles walls and it's going to take a little bit more

work to work on fixing his eye so we're gonna do that in another episode right

now I'm still cleaning up the scratches now Charles Collett walls was born also

in Wilkes County on the 8th of October 1899 and I'm gonna guess he can't be but

5 or 6 years old in this photograph and that is part of process of photo

restoration is when you start looking at a photograph and you go now wait a

minute how old is this child we know he was born in 1899 so we can get a rough

estimate on the date this photograph was taken you know one of the great things

about doing photo restoration is you you find yourselves ooming in a lot and and

getting really down close and look at what I've discovered when I got in here

really close we have a pin here that probably has some meaning to it and this

woman is wearing a brooch with somebody's photograph in it boy wouldn't

it be a find now this is Lizzie ADA balls

Lizzie ADA walls she was born in 3rd of September in 1902 in Wilkes County North

Carolina and she died the 23rd of January 1983 Lizzie you're looking

pretty good girl and so that is a spot removal and here is the before with all

the spots and here is the after so before and after now there's still some

more work that could be done but this is a whole lot better than we had a little

while ago in the next episode we'll start working on contrast and trying to

take some of this washout out of the screen and make it a little bit more

make the image pop a little bit better spot removal takes time to work through

the entire photograph but the results are always worth the effort

now that the crack has been repaired and the spots removed I'll start working on

levels and contrast adjustments to help really make this come back to life if

Top 10 Interesting Facts About Martin Luther King, Jr - Duration: 5:28.

Today, for many of us, King has become less a human being than a source of quotes and

a saint.

This will not do.

A pedestal is no place to put a great man's legacy.

So this tribute is intended to not be as sanctimonious as most of those for King have become.

King = Litigious

While the "I Have A Dream" Speech has been quoted for some rather crass purposes

by a certain tech company, during its own time it was exploited in even worse ways.

Twentieth Century Fox in 1963 released an album of the speech without so much as notifying

the King estate.

King sued the album out of circulation.

Ever since, the King Estate has been very litigious in this regard.

They have sued, among others, USA Today for reprinting the speech in full, and CBS when

it attempted to rebroadcast the very footage they had shoot in the first place.

They even filed suit against PBS for naming a documentary series "Eye on the Prize."

Bayard Rustin

One of the people most often cited as an influence King was Bayard Rustin to an extent that Rustin

was directly involved with organizing the March on Washington and during the Montgomery

Bus Boycotts.

But in 1955, Bayard had been arrested In flagrante delicto for having consensual sex with two

other men.

To King's credit, he did not distance himself from the activist in spite of his potentially

extremely damaging reputation.

The Lesser Angels

During the 1950's and 1960's, the F.B.I. targeted King for investigation to see if

he could be implicated for communist sympathies.

While under observation, they claimed to have recorded numerous sound bytes from King of

an unsavory nature, including flippant jokes about John F. Kennedy after his assassination.

By far the most prevalent have been claims that King spoke extensively about his sexual

conquests, including reported sound bytes such as "I'm f—— for God."

One of the agents who had him under observation reported that he was "beastial" about

it.

Biographers, by contrast, have claimed that King felt extreme guilt over this and that

the content of his sermons would sometimes reflect his anxieties.

King also had at least one extramarital partner that he allegedly reached a point that he

was in touch with every day and who emotionally supplanted his relationship with his wife

for him.

That's not an excuse, but it was a more complicated situation than the people who

just like to use this aspect of his character to attack him or seem less worshipful of him

generally imply.

Izola Ware Curry

Eleven years before his tragic incident with James Earl Ray in Memphis in 1968, during

a book signing, King had his first encounter with a named assassin.

Curry was a mentally disturbed black woman that stabbed King in the chest and very nearly

killed him.

Imagine what a disaster that would have been for the civil rights movement and you see

why this ugly incident is not more often mentioned.

The Most Violent Protest

The event that King described as "the most violent protest I have ever seen" didn't

take place in the South like you would expect but in Chicago.

During a 1966 demonstration, King was struck in the head by a brick.

King continued the march he was partaking in, but canceled other demonstrations for

safety reasons.

This is a man who had already had his house bombed in Montgomery to give an idea of the

sort of people he encountered there.

Delivered One of the Best Anti-Vietnam War Speeches

In 1967, King alienated many by making his anti-war sentiments known in a speech now

known as "Why I Oppose the War in Vietnam."

Among those were President Lyndon Johnson and such publications as Life Magazine and

the Washington Post, who accused King of such things as having betrayed his relevance to

the nation with such sentiments.

An album of the speech released posthumously won a grammy award.

but it still remains a really worthwhile speech (take THAT, Grammys!)

King was Very Unpopular at The Time of His Death

In addition to his then-extremely unpopular stance on the Vietnam War, King in the mid

to late sixties became more passionate about class discrimination including a highly controversial

plan to provide the disadvantaged citizens (of all races and creeds) fifty billion dollars

over a ten year period.

Conspiracy theorists often say that his death was actually a government plot to stop his

planned Peace March on the capital, the sort of thing that would make him seem less like

a crusader and more like a dangerous subversive.

In 1968, he had an approval rating of only 30%.

The Descendants Have Had Difficulties with the Legacy

King's children have been heavily criticized for how they have carried on the family name.

Because of the lack of proper will and testament on King's part, his children have been suing

each other and others for years.

This was first reported in the news after the King family sold thousands of his documents

(mostly handwritten) to the Atlanta Morehouse College for thirty-two million dollars.

A Lot of Interesting Information is Coming Out 2027

Remember all those attributed sound bytes that we mentioned in #8?

Well, in 1986 a judge suppressed a large amount of information that was recorded while he

was under observation.

Given that the file in question contains roughly 17,000 pages of information, there just has

to be something breathtaking that some very diligent scholar is going to dig out of there.

We know one list that Toptenz is going to run in 2027!

Posthumous Singing Career

This article has kind of been a bit on the negative side, so let's finish it off with

something fun.

A collection of internet comedians with the youtube channel Schmoyoho remixed/autotuned

King's best known speeches into songs.

The King Estate being as litigious as stated above, the best known ones by the musical

group Schmoyoho have been taken down but also replaced by videos posted by fans.

Whatever your tolerance for the using the autotune process for music, they are worth

a sampling, if only for how it helps to remember particularly evocative passages of the speeches.
