Youtube daily report Nov 16 2017

Hello, I'm Melaika Brown, an Instructional Specialist with the MCPS Elementary

Integrated Curriculum Team. I'm here today to discuss the changes to the MCPS

elementary report card as it relates to students receiving special education

services. Joining us for this discussion, I'm pleased to introduce Jen Strouble.

Jen is an Instructional Specialist with the Department of Special Education Services.

Thank you for joining us, Jen. Thanks for having me, Melaika.

So, why the change?

We really wanted to provide parents with accurate information about how their

students are performing at the grade level. We also wanted to bring a closer

alignment to the middle school and high school report cards. So, what would you

say is the biggest change? I'd say the biggest change is for our students in

grades 2 to 5. Those students will no longer receive the letter grades of ES, P, I

and N. They'll now receive grades of A, B, C and D. How will our students with

individualize education programs be graded? It's important for everybody to

understand that students with disabilities are going to be graded the

same way that all the other students are going to be graded. The report card - the

elementary report card - is the same for all of the students. Okay, so let's say

students are in third grade, and they're working on multiplication and division.

So, those students will receive the exact same report card to those standards.

Exactly. Some students are going to be learning alternate learning outcomes, and

I'll discuss that more later on in the video. How do the report card changes

affect special education students' grades? In the past, students in grades 2 through

5 who were two or more years below grade level in one of the core content

subjects, such as math reading and writing, had their grades adjusted. They

fit the criteria to have adjusted grades. Now we no longer are going to be

adjusting grades. Moving forward, students will be graded at the grade

level standard, but an addendum will be used for students who are two or more

years below grade level to be able to explain to parents how students are

performing at their instructional level. The addendum will provide

information to parents so that they have a full understanding of where their

student is on their instructional level. Okay, what does the addendum look like

and how do teachers gather that information to complete the addendum?

The addendum has measurement topics for each of those core subject areas and a place

for the teacher to mark where the student is performing at which grade

level. There's also an area for comments which will help parents see the progress

that has come over the quarter. Teachers might this gather this data through

observations, work samples and formal and informal assessments. So, the report card

will reflect how the student is doing at the grade level, while the addendum will

reflect how the student is doing at their instructional level. Exactly, for

students who are two or more years below grade level. What was the rationale for these changes?

Well, the report cards should accurately portray a picture of

how the student is performing towards the grade level standard. We received

feedback that the the grades were not providing an accurate picture to parents.

We really wanted to be able to align the elementary and the secondary report

cards for that reason. And there is no adjusted grades at the middle school level?

Exactly. Jen, do these changes impact students pursuing alternate learning

outcomes, and what are alternate learning outcomes?

Great question, Melaika. Alternate learning outcomes are modified outcomes based on

the core content connectors. The IEP teams work together to determine if a student

meets the criteria to be learning on the alternate learning outcomes, and they're

learning on these alternate learning outcomes and graded as such. All students

on the alternate learning outcomes will receive the addendum. So, for these students,

their report card, they're gonna get the exact same report card, but the report

card reflects how they're doing

at the alternate learning outcomes.

Exactly. Right. What do we want parents ofspecial education students to understand

or take away about the report card changes? You know it's really important

for parents to understand that the report card is one

piece of data. So, when the child opens it up on the school bus or gets home and

they look at it, and they see A's, B's, C's or DS, it's a big shift. It's a shift to

see those grades and to see that they're graded based on the grade level standard.

But it's one piece of data. Additionally, as always, parents will receive the IEP

progress report that shows achievement towards those goals that the student's

been working on all quarter. Additionally, the students in grades two

through five who are two or more years below grade level will receive an

addendum. So that will be another piece of information to help parents

understand how their student is progressing. Jen, we've covered some good

information here, but where can parents go to find additional or further

information if they have any questions or concerns. I always tell parents to

reach out to the case manager. They are the teacher that was on the team that helped

write the IEP, and they're really going to be knowledgeable about how the

student was graded and the progress that they're making.

The MCPS website has a wealth of additional information as well. Thank you,

Jen, for joining us today. And thank you for watching and actively engaging in

your child's education. For more information about this topic, please

visit the MCPS website and search report cards.

The Making of YBN Nahmir's "Rubbin Off The Paint" With Izak | Deconstructed - Duration: 4:13.

My favorite part of the beat is probably the 'SpongeBob' tag, 'cause nobody's expecting the 'SpongeBob' voice.

Everytime I see reaction videos on YouTube people be like, "Is that 'SpongeBob'?"

And then the beat comes in and they be like, "Oh! Okay, cool."

Spongebob: That's what I thought you said. Now let me offer this as a rebuttal.

I started making beats in November, 2016.

So I haven't been making beats that long.

But what really inspired me was when I started listening to Playboi Carti and his production by MexikoDro.

Like, "This shit hard. I'm gonna try this."

I started uploading type beats, and I keep getting this following on YouTube

that keep pushing me and I was like, "Okay. Let's go."

That day when I made the "Rubbin Off The Paint" beat, I was sitting in my room.

I was watching 'South Park,' and I was like,

"Oh, I haven't uploaded a beat to my YouTube page in a while. So, let's do this."

I think I heard the "Magnolia" version of Playboi Carti with Pierre, so I got inspired.

So I was like, "Okay, cool. Alright. Let me try and make something that type of style."

So my friend sent me this loop.

And I was like, "Ahh, that shit kinda slow. I'm not really liking the vibe."

So I reversed it, then I pitched it about 300 cents.

So it came out like this.

So I went to the 808, and I was listening to "Magnolia," like I said.

It goes pretty simple downstairs.

But I wanted to add my own flavor to it.

So...

So I had two 808s, 'cause I didn't want the beat to be too repetitive.

But it's kinda the same pattern.

Cool. We got the melody, we got the 808.

That's the normal clap.

Nothing special.

Easy, two steps.

Hi-hats.

It was getting too repetitive, and I wanted to switch it up a little bit.

So I added this kick pattern.

After the first eight bars I was like, "Okay, we need to slow it down 'cause people are gonna get hype."

So I put this trance effect right here.

It slowed down the vibe on the beat.

Get ready to the next part.

And this was the perfect timing for me to experiment with the tag.

I was watching 'SpongeBob' a day or something where he was like,

"That's what I thought you said. Now let me offer this as a rebuttal."

And I was like, "Hold up. That shit would be hard if the beat would drop after that shit!"

And it went something like this.

So when I uploaded the beat, that shit blew up.

Months after the beat had been blowing up, I was looking around like, what type of people use my beats.

So I was finding this kid, so I was playing it.

And then I heard my tag and I heard, "They say Lil Nahmir, where you been at? I'm just passin' a breeze."

I was like, "Oh shit. This shit hot!"

But it was kinda underrated.

It had like 1,000 views or something like that.

When I start seeing Chris Brown reposting it on Instagram, I was like, "Okay, this shit finna get a lot of exposure."

I saw it on WorldStar, it got one million in a day.

Nahmir was also shocked when this song blew up.

Like, "Oh, okay.

This shit finna change our lives."

Fixing The Ad Crisis - Duration: 2:40.

Ad blocking software has been a growing challenge to marketers ever since

Ad Muncher first came on the scene in the 1990s.

A study by Kantar Millward Brown finds that today,

51 percent of Gen Z consumers use ad blockers.

And Emarketer says that 30% of all American Internet users

will block ads by 2018.

A recent HubSpot survey found that people install ad blockers for a variety

of reasons, but annoying malicious and disruptive ads are the largest factors in opting out.

Now that bad work can drive audiences away from ads entirely,

the pressure is on for marketers to provide better incentives to keep them paying attention.

To engage digital audiences, it helps to involve brands that do well on digital platforms.

Rick and Morty are clear Internet favorites who maintain

that connection when they team up with brands being transparent and cartoonish.

Old Spice partnered with the characters for a sponsored video that earned over

1.1 million views in just two weeks.

Sponsored content isn't just a way to bypass ad blockers it expands the

horizons for what ideas advertisers can convey to their audiences, letting

entertainment and influence. Starbucks transmits its voice and message with an

online series called Upstanders, providing everyday altruism along with

the brand. Itself interacting with the user is even more powerful than

expecting a passive watch.

On mobile devices, advertisers are incentivizing users

with rewarded ads, offering ways to earn in app benefits. According to Tapjoy,

interacting with rewarded ads in an app can increase retention by as high as 300%.

Other digital innovations being offered include apps with virtual

assistants, like Patron's Cocktail Lab—a voice-driven mixed drink recommendation

and recipe service.

Meanwhile, Heinz took advantage of

evolving funnels on Instagram, launching a campaign called "Irresistible Posts"

that used Instagram stories ads to give away free hamburgers. While integrating

storytelling and tech tools may seem like a daunting task, the industry is

responding positively. According to research by the Chartered Institute of

Marketing, 76% of marketers think that ad blocking will be positive for the industry,

encouraging greater creativity.

Fossil Hunting - At the end of the Rainbow - Duration: 13:42.

Well I came here at the top of the hill and there's a beautiful rainbow over there.

The the gas station is over there... and I came here because I see this

expose bedrock over here .Didn't find anything unusual but there is remnants

of something around here. Take a look....

There is turritellas over here something... I need here ...Oh! this is not a

fossil. haha! Well, but this layer here seems to have plenty of sediments and...

Oh! Take a look this is a tiny one over there. Little tiny one.

See? So nothing quite unusual but I'm going to investigate a little bit better.

Hey hey!! I believe I finally see something interesting! Okay we have

several in here. okay let me take this branch. off okay

this is the shell that pop off... That came off from this spot over here . Cool ,but

not uncommon still s the crest over here but I spot something round oh we have a

friend gastropod in here oh I believe I'm ruling the shell that could be in

here let me see if I can take it without break it

uh-oh this is part of the shell I don't know maybe let's see this all this is

all wet so it's pretty easy to to take it out okay

okay oh it's a bit broken it is a spiral but it's a bit damaged in the top VG

pulgar support hmm okay but if I found one there's more more around probably

okay and this is where it is this this was I believe it was in here or liked it

like this it was like that okay now there is something in here what is

another piece of shell and don't know what this is and there is something in

here also another shell oh this is full of shells

huh oh yes this one is a bit broken I

really really have to watch this and there is another one in here take a look

who still has that okay the question of this side over here so

oh this branch is really annoying okay I'm going to take this weight off

over here some sort of waster

and what else well that's about it

another shell whoa this is a gold mine over here I wonder if there is more well

I have this tool and I am doing with my bare hands

ah shame on me okay I don't know if there is anything

more over here what is this this is a piece of a tiny gastropod just tiny I'm

going to put it over here so I'm going to do one thing I'm going to excavate a

little bit with my pick because I think this is a very good site to find fossils

so I'm going to pause the video a little bit grab this one and see if I can find

some more

guys check this out are you seeing this over here and that other one over there

I don't know if I am going to be able to take it well this is crawling with

classes

okay guys as you can see I'm in the neighbor road and there are a few houses

over there so take a look at this over here this is all covered with shells of

oysters large ones

I managed to find this one over here I'm going to put it in the shelter to see if

I can do a zoom this one is pretty impressive it misses a little bit over

here but it's quite fat and impressive and this one over here this is a

different one I believe sort of might have to wash it but there are very much

much much much more I don't see Sam is making whoa this is a bit broken

the allowed to run

very very large okay guys I'm seeing something interesting no it's

not my shadow take a look this one is not coming off the shame because it's

cool it is almost shame but this one has to stay here better ones will come guys

this is depressing in the side of the road over here take a look I don't know

what it is but it's huge huge I don't know if I was going to take this one

with me but it's pretty amazing and awesome

take a look it's I don't know it's huge it's all covered with some sediment I

guess I'm going to try to take it to see what it is this side over here is all

born with the Sun but I believe it's some sort of shell or coral or something

let's the end there is another one in here but this one who this one is even

more damaged so I'm going to take this one with me to

see what I can come up with this hello friends here are some results of today's

hunt this one is a little bit washed as a good definition I believe it's an

extra Jarrah

this one I believe it is also an excellent but I have to wash it again

because it still has some mud attached to it this one I am Not sure this

species still have plenty to to wash I didn't scrub very hard this area over

here in order not to damage the shell and this other one over here was that

large bit that I found on the side of the road

whoops so this one I have plenty of work to do because I start to wash on this

side and some pieces of shell start to popping out and as you can see there is

a large piece of shell over here I don't know what this is this is not a belief I

shouldn't call this rock this is more like compact sand or clay but it's still

a little bit hard to take apart so I'm going to wash this a little bit more to

see what comes out of it from over there and as you can see this is a very large

shell mosque I don't not really know yet it has a

large hole over here so we'll see what is this

it's starts to get a little bit more clean and on this other side over here

some quite curious things start to to appear so I have this white bit over

here probably a shell but I have to check this very well there are some

pieces of shells over here the breeze and so on and this side over here and

other water is a little bit dirty this side over here is start to appear

something quite interesting I don't know if it's just a bit or if it goes goes

around to that other tip over there so let's go in a little bit more to see if

I can find something interesting in the middle of all of this over here let's

see

you

Fall 2017 Book Haul! [CC] - Duration: 18:39.

Hey everybody! Welcome back to my channel. Today I'm going to be doing my fall

book haul for you guys. As you guys might know, I've been trying to stick to a

project 5 book buying plan which I will leave a link to in the description so

you guys can see what that is. However over the past few months I haven't

really been sticking to it. I had a couple of weeks there in end of

September/early October where I like, was going through a lot, and I was finding

comfort in buying books and I was kind of letting myself just do it. And since

then, things have gotten a little bit better for me. I don't feel the need to

comfort myself through buying books. However, I haven't really been sticking

to the project 5 book buying plan anyway, But I have found that I have scaled my

buying back quite a bit on my own anyway. I've been finding that I don't

necessarily go out and buy books as soon as I want them. I kind of wait to see if

it's something that I actually want to read and if it's something that I want

to read soon. One of my main goals for 2017 was to kind of taper my book buying

a bit and I feel like through the project 5 book buying plan and the way

I've been buying books this year I've definitely kind of achieved that goal.

I'm not buying books willy-nilly. I'm buying books that I'm actually thinking

I want to read and books that I am hoping to get to very soon versus books

that I'm like, I'm kind of interested in it, maybe I'll read it one day. So without

further ado, I'm going to hop into all the books that I got in these fall

months between the end of August and the beginning of November. The first book

that I got was an audiobook and that was The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue

by Mackenzi Lee. I've already listened to this book and it was a pretty

enjoyable listen. This is about Monty. It's set back in the - I want to say 1700s.

1700/1800s. And Monty is about to inherit his father's estate and this book is

about his final, like, hurrah. He's going on a tour of Europe

before he has to settle down and run the estate. The next book that I bought was

It by Stephen King. This was - I got some dog hair on here. This was a

buddy read with Michael and Becky and I actually also obtained the audiobook

which, I kind of I read both the audiobook and the

physical book together. I have already completed this. I really, really enjoyed

it. It's very very well-written, obviously, because it's a Stephen King book, but I

just really enjoyed myself while reading this and I'm very happy that I now have

it as part of my collection. Next book that I received I've also already read

and that is They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera. This I buddy read with

Michael and this is about a world where on the day that you die you receive a

phone call informing you that you will die at some point in that day. This is

about two boys who received that phone call and they actually end up finding

each other to spend the last day of their lives together. Next up I received

my September Book of the Month box and in that box I got three books like I

usually do every month. First up in that box I got Little Fires Everywhere by

Celeste Ng. This is Celeste Ng's second book and it's about two families. One family

who's a little bit richer and one family who is just a mother-daughter duo and

the richer family rents out a house to the mother-daughter duo and then

unexpectedly the richer family's house burns down and no one knows what happens.

So it's got a lot of family drama. It's got a lot of mystery. It sounds very

similar - not similar, but like, a lot of family drama and mystery definitely

reflects Celeste Ng's first book Everything I Never Told You. Do I'm

excited to get to this one and check it out.

*SNEEZE*

BRETT: (from the next room) BLESS YOU! RILEY: THANK YOU!

The next book I got was

Sourdough by Robin Sloane. This is a book about I believe a woman who works in

like a very - I think she's an either in marketing or finance or something or...

She's a software programmer. So she has like a very intense, like, demanding job

and so she kind of turns to baking bread as a new hobby and a new passion and I

just am really intrigued by that premise because I just love books about

food and reading stories of chefs is always very interesting to me. The next

book I got was Startup by Doree Shafrir. This is written by somebody who works at

BuzzFeed and it's very much so a study of what it means to be at a tech startup

company. I've heard that this is really funny and

I just definitely want to give this a shot. The next few I picked up on a

Barnes & Noble trip I went on in mid-September. It's been a long time

since I've gone to a bookstore and actually like purchased books from the

bookstore so it was really fun and it like definitely made me feel better.

The first book I picked up was Landline by Rainbow Rowell. I loved Attachments

when I read it this summer and I definitely wanted to give Rainbow Rowell

another chance. This is another one of her adult contemporary novels and I'm

excited to get to this one. The next one I'm very intrigued by and this is Romeo

and/or Juliet by Ryan North and this is kind of like a choose-your-own-adventure

version of the story of Romeo and Juliet. So there's like, all of these like,

different prompts and you can really kind of build the story however you like

and I'm just like super intrigued by this and I'm very excited to like give

this a try. And there's lots of really cool illustrations and there's a few

illustrations in here by Noelle Stevenson who is one of the main artists

and writers on the Lumberjanes series she wrote Nimona and I just - I'm a big

fan. Like, all of these illustrations are hers. So I'm a very big fan of her

artwork. So I'm really really excited to dive into this one and see what it's

like. The next one I picked up at Barnes & Noble was Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt

Vonnegut. I read Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut last summer and really

enjoyed it. That was my first Kurt Vonnegut and so I decided to go with one

that's a little bit more well-known and so I picked up Slaughterhouse-Five. Can't

wait to get to it. I think his writing is just so brilliant so I hope I enjoy

this one just as much as I like Galapagos. I then picked up the only

Maria Semple book I did not own. This one is called This One Is Mine. I really

don't know a lot about this book but I just know I really enjoy Maria

Semple's writing. I'm going on a vacation in a couple of weeks and the last time I

went on vacation I read Where'd You Go Bernadette for the first time. So I

thought I could pick this up and take this on my vacation with me. I am so

excited to get to it and see if this one matches up to Where'd You Go Bernadette.

I read her newest book called Today Will Be Different over the summer

and didn't like it as much as I liked Where'd You Go Bernadette. So hopefully

this one will remind me of the Maria Semple that I love. And then the last book

I picked up from Barnes Noble was the Barnes & Noble classic edition of To

Kill a Mockingbird. I think that's what these editions are called. Barnes & Noble

has a bunch of classics in these really beautiful hard covers. I actually have a

couple over here. I don't know if you can see them in frame but I have Pride and Prejudice

and Tom Sawyer. And so I wanted you to pick up a new copy of To Kill a

Mockingbird because my copy of To Kill a Mockingbird is extremely beat up. I

wanted to get a nice new copy of To Kill a Mockingbird just to have. I'm gonna keep

my nice beat-up one because that's the first time I read To Kill a Mockingbird.

It got really beat up when I read it so I wanted to get a new one. I'm going to

reread To Kill a Mockingbird in 2018 at some point so I wanted to have a nice

new copy to break in and love. The next book that I received is Crooked Kingdom

by Leigh Bardugo. This is the second and final book in the

Six of Crows duology. I originally got this because Becky, Michael, and I wanted

to buddy read it, but I just never got around to it. October was a very crazy

month and that's when we were going to read it, and I just never got around to

it. But I do hope to get to it very early on in 2018 so I can finish of the

duology and I cannot wait to pick this up and

see what happens. I then picked up another audio book and this one was

Thanks, Obama: My Hopey, Changey, White House Years by David Litt. I did already

listen to this and I really, really enjoyed it. It's about David Litt's time

working as a speechwriter for a President Obama and it's just so

intriguing. So if you are at all interested in the Obama presidency and

how his speeches were developed I would definitely check out this audio book. It

was really great and it's actually really humorous too so if you're looking

for a good laugh definitely check this one out. The next one I picked up was

Lumberjanes, volume Five: Band Together. Again, I've already read this one and I

love the Lumberjanes so much. I talk about them a lot on this channel so if

you want to know anything about the Lumberjanes definitely like, click on any

of one of my other videos. You'll probably find out more.

I did already read this like I said and this one I wasn't as impressed by as the

rest of the series but it's still really great to hang out with these characters

and just kind of see what they get up to. I then picked up the third and final

book in the Chaos Walking trilogy and that is Monsters of Men by Patrick Nes.s I

want to finish this series by the end of 2017 and this is the last book that I

need to read so this will be read very soon. And then I decided to pick up the

only other Patrick Ness book that I didn't own and that is More Than This by

Patrick Ness and I've heard fantastic things about this which I'm not

surprised by. His kind of standalone contemporary is wonderful. So I cannot

wait to read this one as well. I then picked up Honor Girl by Maggie Thrash. I

don't remember where I originally heard of this graphic novel. I did originally

hear about it last fall, but then Chelsea from Chelsea Dolling Reads read this

during Booktubeathon and I just like really needed to read it because I do

really trust her opinions on books and so I finally picked this up. It's a

beautiful hardcover graphic novel. It's a graphic memoir actually. It's like a

coming-of-age story about this girl who goes to camp and I believe she's discovering

her sexuality for the first time. So I've heard fantastic things about this

graphic novel and it's beautiful so I cannot wait to dive into this one as

well. I then decided to pick up two more Stephen King books and the first one I

picked up was Misery. This one is about a an author who is ending a series - a

really, really popular, well known book series, and I believe he like, crashes his

car in the snow and then one of his like, really big fans finds him and kind of

keeps him hostage until he continues to write another novel for this series. And

then I also picked up The Long Walk by Stephen King. This one is about, I think,

it's about these kids who are in like a juvenile detention center and they have

to walk for their freedom, essentially, and they have to keep a certain pace and

if they fall behind the end up getting killed and I guess the last person

standing I think gets their freedom or something along those lines. This one is

very intriguing to me and I'm very interested to read this sometime soon. I

then received my October Book of the Month box and in this box I received

Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang. I'm gonna read the

synopsises, synopsis, synopsi? (laughs) of these books cuz I'm not entirely sure

what they were. "Orphaned, raised by wolves, and the proud owner of a horned pig

named Merlin, Waylen Grey knew he wasn't like other people, but when he

single-handedly stopped that tornado on a stormy Christmas day in Oklahoma, he

realized just how different he actually was." That was very interesting to me and

I definitely want to check this out. There's, of course, more to the synopsis

than that, but that just got me hooked and I'm very intrigued. This is very

magical realism and I'm into that. The next one I got in this box was something

that lots of people all around the world have already been hyping up but that is

The Power by Naomi Alderman. This is, from what I know, about women who through time

kind of developed this power to I think electrocute men and then all of a sudden

there's like a shift in power. Like women now hold the power in the world. So

I'm very intrigued by this. So I cannot wait to get to it. And the last book that

I got in the October Book of the Month box was The Impossible Fortress by Jason

Rekulak. I think that's how you say his name. This is a video game centered

like romance, contemporary romance, from what I know which I'm very intrigued by.

I think this is gonna be a really fun read so I cannot wait to get this one as

well. I then found on a kindle daily deal Miles Morales: Spider-Man by Jason

Reynolds and I wanted to snap it up immediately. So I did I saw that book in

Barnes & Noble when I went on the trip in September to Barnes & Noble, but I

didn't pick it up there, but when I saw it on the kindle deal I just like

snapped it up. I'm very excited to get to it. I also picked up another audio book

and this one is Member of the Family by Dianne Lake. I'm currently

listening to this and this is about Dianne Lake - it's a memoir - her time with

Charles Manson. She was one of like his "girls". Like he was she was a member of

the family between the ages of 14 and 16 and then afterwards she helped put him

in jail. It's been very intriguing so far I'm about halfway done and it's just

very interesting how she found her way into being part of the family and I'm

interested to see what her experience is like during her time there and how she

gets out. I then got my November Book of the Month box and in my November box I

received Artemis by Andy Weir. I was very excited when this was an option for Book

of the Month. This is Andy Weir's second novel. I read

The Martian earlier this year and absolutely loved it I'm so I'm excited

to see what his follow-up novel is all about. From what I know this is about a

woman who is on the moon. So I don't know how different from the Martian it's

going to be but I'm excited to get into this and see what it's all about.

The next one I picked up was The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman. "For the Owens

family, love is a curse that began in the 1600s when Maria Owens was accused of

witchery for loving the wrong man. Hundreds of years later in New York City,

at the cusp of the 60s when the whole world is about to change,

Susannah Owens knows that her three children are dangerously unique.

Difficult Frannie with skin as pale milk and blood red hair; shy and

beautiful Jett who can read other people's thoughts; and charismatic

Vincent who began looking for trouble on the day he could walk. From the start,

Suzanna sets down the rules for her children: no walking in the moonlight, no red shoes

no wearing black, no cats, no crows, no candles, no books about magic, and most

importantly, never, ever fall in love. But her children will never adhere to the

rules and all three are desperate to uncover who they really are

when they visit their aunt Isabelle in the small Massachusetts town where the

Owens family has been blamed for everything that has ever gone wrong, they

begin to understand the truth of who they are. The siblings discovered there

are family secrets to uncover as well as secrets they have kept hidden from each

other. When they move to 44 Greenwich Avenue in New York City,

each begins a risky journey as they tried to escape the family curse." I've

heard good things about Alice Hoffman's writing. I'm excited to get to this.

This premise, again, seems very intriguing, and I'm sure this is

something that I will enjoy. And the last book that I got in my November box was a

suggestion from Becky at Beck's Books. During my Halloween live show a lot of

us were kind of giving recommendations on horror/thrillers that we really enjoy

and this is one that she suggested. It's Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough.

Honestly I don't really know much about it, but it was a suggestion from Becky

and I really trust her opinions on books. She said this is a great thriller so I

can't wait to get to this one as well. And then the last of the physical books

that I picked up this fall was Turtles All the Way Down by John Green. I did

order a signed copy and I was really excited to find this out, but I got one

of his DFTBA signatures which, you know, weren't in every book. I think some of

the books had DTFBA, some of the books have like Turtles drawn in them. So I felt

very lucky to get a DFTBA one. I have high hopes for this one. I've been

hearing really positive things, so hopefully I agree

with all the positive hype that this one has been getting. I then went on a Kindle

buying kick. I think I, again, had vacation in mind. I didn't want to bring a ton of

physical books with me so I bought quite a few Kindle books. So I'm gonna whip

right through those as well. The first one I got is The Shining by Stephen King.

I'm going to be doing a group read of this with Anita, Michael, and Becky in

December. I've always heard this is one of the scariest books of all time and I

just I can't wait. I can't wait to be scared. The next book I got was To All

the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han. I've heard that this is a wonderful

contemporary. All I hear is positive things about this trilogy. So I decided to give

it a shot. Next one I got was Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. This one is going

to be such a good beach read. It's like a mystery, it's a contemporary, it's - I've

heard nothing but great things and I really do want to watch the HBO series

but I wanted to read the book first. So I'm excited to it check that out. The

next book I got was The Little Book of Hygge by - forgive me if I butcher this

name but I think it's Meik Wiking or Wiking. Earlier

this year I read The Year of Living Danishly and became very intrigued

with Danish culture and hygge is just kind of like the art of being cozy and

I'm just so into that idea and especially with the winter months coming

up I feel like it's going to be perfect to read this book and kind of integrate

some cozy techniques into my life. The next kindle book I got was The Good Girl

by Mary Kubica. This was a kindle daily deal and I've heard it's a great

thriller. I honestly don't know too much about it but it was on sale and I

figured having a good thriller on my kindle while I'm on vacation will be

good to have. And then I got another horror/thriller called A Head Full of

Ghosts by Paul Tremblay. Again, don't know too much about it, but want some more

horror/thriller on my Kindle so I can just read it whenever I feel like I want

to be scared. Anyway, that is it for my fall book haul. I'm not even gonna

attempt to hold these up for you guys right now, but I hope you guys enjoyed

this video. If you did please leave a big thumbs up. Subscribe if you haven't

already. I do try to make a new video each and every week and I will see you

guys again very soon. Bye!

September/October Book Haul + Wrap up 2017 | Haul #32 - Duration: 9:59.

Hello there, it's Samantha! Today I'm coming to you with my September and October book haul and wrap up.

As I said, I do have a book haul portion for this as well, but as some of you may

know, I am actually on a book buying ban, so you might be thinking "how do you

have books to haul?" They actually do all fit within my rules for my book buying ban, so it's

fine. I'm gonna start off with the haul. Back when I did my summer book haul I mentioned I had

one more book coming in September because I was going to a book signing,

but I'd already paid for the book in advance, so I felt like it didn't really

count. And that was It Only Happens In The Movies

by Holly Bourne. I was going to a book signing, it was actually the book launch

for this particular book. It was really fun! I went with my friend Yasmin and they

gave us like a goodie bag with a few things. We got to take a Polaroid.

I met Holly - I've met her before actually. But yeah I met her again and she's on this

book I actually still haven't read a single book by her but I do have a book

markedness so I did start it so I need to continue on with it this book is

about a girl called Audrey who meets his boy called Harry when she's working a

cinema but basically the relationship is very flawed I believe and I'm not

entirely sure what's going to happen in this + C I'm gonna continue on with it

at some point the next thing I got was actually in that same event they get you

off this goodie bag which had another book in it and they were all arcs which

is the most exciting part so I have this book called the unpredictability of

being human by lynnie increments and I don't know how you say that I'm so sorry

I will link this book down below I also don't really know what this book is

about I will read you the back it says if I watch be gone for one day I'd

microwave a bag of popcorn to perfection basically fix the big stuff he'd have

done it already and even if he did people do such weird stuff they break it

all again anyway and it says a darkly comic and captivating coming-of-age

story for a groundbreaking new voice so clearly I think this is a debut book

comes out in January I'm really excited to read it I started reading it at the

event and it seemed like she was give me a fun time the next book is one that

actually was given us by my university which is that we're essentially they're

trying to do this thing where they get people to read new books like for

pleasure rather than just the books they have to read for school so they're

encouraging I wanted to read more so they gave everyone a book when they

moved in that book was the power by name with Alderman and I don't know what's

big about but I'll read you the back all over the world women are discovering

they have the power but the flick of the fingers they can inflict terrible pain

even death suddenly every man on the planet finds they'd lost control the day

of girls is erotic but where will it end it

sounds like it's gonna be really interesting I was gonna say a fun time

but possibly probably not fun time it's like a serious book and I'm like I don't

read the rules I read young adult trash but no I'm gonna try this out at some

point so yeah they wouldn't have given it to

every single student if it wasn't worth a read now the next three books I have

are all books that I got for my course I got all of these in October basically

I'm doing a module in that Latin American literature and film because I

didn't want to do the Spanish let's return film which we're doing next

semester so I chose to do I fill multiple this semester I'm not really a

fan of literature and film like analyzing that stuff I'm not very good

at it so I was like I just wanna get out of the way first we're gonna have is

quintals to ever do not by isabel allende this is a collection of short

stories set in south america essentially there's a book called Ava Luna also bite

is the AMA and these are stories which must be like folklore from that and they

all connect to the story at a valina I've heard most of them some of them are

really really good and they're just wonderful but other ones are not my cup

of tea I'm hoping to finish this soon I think it's worth a read especially if

you're interested in Latin American culture has been an insight into that

next two books at the same book but one is in English and one is in Spanish and

that is mammory Hobart eventuosity min SEO in la conciencia which translates to

something and so I wrote in Spanish I was gonna read it in Spanish

I'm fully intended to and then someone told me that it was actually really

really hard to read in Spanish so I also picked up the English version which is

ivory over to men shoe which is about an Indian woman in Guatemala it's a

testimonial which is when the person can't actually like write like a real

bird two men she was illiterate so she couldn't write down her story so someone

else wrote it for her that's this I haven't read this yet but

I need to we're starting on it very soon so I need to get to that so these one of

the books that I acquired in the months of September and October only six books

and I only paid for those three which were necessary already paid for that one

in advance so yeah not too bad I don't think now just the books that I've read

in the month of September I managed to read four books and in October I read

one so not great but not like not the end of the world either

so first if they read it in September was always in front for Lara Jean by

Jenny Han I read - the other two books in that series in August I really really

enjoyed them they were a really fun time and I read always in forever la Jean

like this this is great it's definitely more my favor of the series I ended up

giving a 5 out of 5 star and I give the other 24.5 which I know

it's all that much of difference but yeah I just really really really enjoyed

this book I thought it's really nice conclusion I started out reading it and

I like I really don't feel like this book is necessary like it did still

adding anything then as I went along I just got more and more invested and I

just thoroughly enjoyed it you don't know what this book is about this is the

third book in the chew all the voices left for four series and in the first

one the main character Laura Jean has a box full of letters that she writes to

people she used to be in love with and she dresses them and everything there

she's in this box she's not gonna do anything with them and then one day they

all get sent out and it's about what happens next it's a lot of fun I would

definitely suggest that series also it's not set in the summer so you can read it

all year round thanks but I read it in September it was

because you loved to hate me my collection of authors I finally finished

this this is the anthology which is thirteen short stories about villains it

was written by a bunch of people and they got paired with a booktuber and the

books you wrote like a prompt for them and then a little like commentary thing

with it I really really enjoyed it I ended up getting a four point two stores

that's how it all a bridged out I think my favorite story was probably Victoria

Schwab's I mean are we surprised lovely choice world so not very surprising at

all I really liked a lot of the stories some of them only not my favorite but

that's just gonna happen with methodology one that's what I read was

salt to the feet by Rita status I give this a 5 out of 5 stars I loved this

book so much I flew through out here I ran it in a day it was a really really

really quick read I follows four different characters and one of the

things that makes the book so brilliant is that age switches perspectives like

every chapter so you get a new perspective and just the way everything

connects this really brilliant it's heartbreaking if you don't know it

it's a historical fiction book hi I'm sorry you're currently getting hungover

gross looking at Samantha because previous Samantha did a terrible job of

describing this book essentially salt to the sea follows these four characters

three of which are trying to get out of Poland because it's during world war two

and these three here just are trying it out of Poland and the only way to do

that is to get to a specific ship and one of the characters is already on the

ship and they are going to the Wilhelm Gustav which I'm really sorry I know I

said that wrong I didn't do German so I don't know how to say Durman things all

trying to get to this ship and I'm not going to tell you what happened even

though it is history but like some people claim that its spoilers but it's

history I follow these three characters as they're making their journey over to

the ship and then it follows this one character

he's already on the ship and he's a total dick he's a Nazi and he's awful

he's foul it follows these characters on their journey it is so sad but such a

good book I did not know about this event that occurred so it was very

eye-opening that you read it and find out what happened he was so well written

I just thought it was brilliant so clearly I gave that one to five out of

five stars I also completed my September team you are jar challenge of reading

historical fiction books the vial book I read in September was they both die at

the end by Adam Silveira of course that's gonna read this this was one of

my most anticipated reads of the year and I really really enjoyed it I get a

4.5 out of 5 stories if you know what this book is about this book follows two

boys called Rufus and Matteo and they live in this world where on the day

you're gonna die you get a phone call from this company called death cast

saying you're gonna die today they don't tell you how you're gonna die or like

what time of day which is that you're gonna die so these two boys use this app

called the last friend app and they find each other and they become friends for a

day and I'm not gonna tell you if they both died at the end it was really sad

but I do I love out of silver eyes writing style I'm ready for the enjoy

books I was gonna say they're a lot of fun to read that's really not true her

always heartbreaking I really hope that one day he writes a book that I won't

cry at I think I've written reviews for all of these selling thing down below

because it was a while ago I know that my thoughts are not as clear right now

as they should be now the only book that I read in October was a reread for me

and if you don't know I've been rereading the Harry Potter series since

August and I'm finished reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

during October a busy that'd be five out of five stars it is potentially my

favorite book in the Harry Potter series I don't know yet cuz I I need to finish

rereading them again before I can decide I just love this book so much I feel

like this is where real shit starts to happen it's just so good and of course I

cried I do not cry that much in books but this book gets me every time

I listen to audio book which I would definitely recommend Stephen Fry does a

great job narrating at the audiobooks I'm currently reading the fifth one also

on audiobook and they're just 10 out of 10 obviously I love the Harry Potter

shoes with all of my heart obviously I did not pick an October TBR jar

challenge within this video because October is well and truly over but I did

choose one before I did film it but I'm not gonna turn the clip because I looked

like gross my October challenge was to read a book that has been on my shelf

since 2015 what I wanted to read was the accident season I didn't actually around

to it I will try and read that before the end of the year and then at my

November challenge I've also already chosen because we are already a bit of a

way into November was to read a book featuring a diverse

main character or by a diverse author and I just mean like someone who's

different from me in many different ways I do need to read I regret to mention

which is obviously very different for me it just about a Guatemalan woman yeah

I'm really sorry about lack of videos but I hope they'll be getting back at

you a slightly normal schedule soon I just don't hope we do that bit all

that's good you all Jase yeah so hope you liked it if you did please give a

thumbs up if you hear feel free to subscribe down below if you want me

notify whatever I post new video because I'm not very regular at the moment about

posting then you can go and click that notification icon little bell icon

you'll get me notified every time I post which it's not that often but you know

whenever I do post you'll get a notification that's going to also see

you hopefully soon wants another video by Holly Bourne you did

MCPS Report Card Changes for Special Education Students - Duration: 6:00.

DIY: Mini mailbox - Duration: 6:36.

Parts and measurements

The mailbox is made of plywood.

To the two pieces of 3x2 cm we make two cuts. With an angle of 45º

One of the two pieces will be the front of the mailbox.

Therefore, in one of these pieces, we make the doors. The big door measures 1,6x1,5 cm

The small door 1,5x0,3 cm

To this piece we made 4 holes, as you see in the video.

The width between each pair of holes is that of a toothpick.

We cut two pieces of toothpicks, 0,5 cm each one, and stick them to the door.

Trying to keep (each one) between a couple of holes.

We passed a fishing line through the holes, tying the toothpicks.

To be able to open the small door: 1º We put the door in its place.

2º We make a hole on each side, making sure to get to the door.

We check that we have reached the door.

We take a piece of wire, we spread it with white glue, and we put it in the holes.

We make a hole in the big door.

Fill the hole with air drying clay.

We leave a bit of leftover in the front, and we make the lock of the mailbox.

From behind, we introduce a wire, L-shaped, simulating the back of the lock.

With the other piece of 3x2 cm and the three of 2x1 cm, we make the body of the mailbox.

The two pieces of 1,8x1,5 cm are the roof.

Sanding one of the small sides of each piece, until both fit at an angle of 45º

We sand the sides of the mailbox, so they do not disturb when putting the roof.

We stick the door to the rest of the mailbox.

We add the roof and paint.

Thank you very much for watching the video. Like and share.
