Youtube daily report Nov 22 2017

everything you said they already knew.

what's up everybody my name is Adam and welcome back to another video

I'm Adam in the tank as you guys know whether this Tuesday like five minutes

ago I'm not even joking five minutes ago it was like five to nine right now it's

nine there's a big difference in the sky it was dark five minutes ago no it's not

dark time changes I feel like it's I'm gonna turn into a vampire again like I

said this sometime last year I feel like a vampire

the more I think about it actually it is pretty dark pick the other day

last week I was coming over to tack and I could see the golden are the Sun was

rising it was just beautiful and saw me clothes kind of take away that niceness

- the mornings it was in tank had a photography class done the photography

class laughs tank and I'm heading home got some work to do today

- a as well it's a really nice day it really bright enough assist hmm Orlan

lovely vase yo what's up guys back from tag right now if you're new to the

channel be sure to subscribe this is your first time watched one of my vlog

my name is Adam welcome to the vlog today I don't know what's going on today

actually I do know what's going on today this is gonna be exciting and

yesterday's vlog was talking about this crystal a crystal that I really wanted

to buy it was a piece of labradorite flash back to yesterday one thing I want

to get this one thing I've wanted to get for like ages it's a crystal and I've

seen it in healing arts every single time and crystal called labradorite and

it's this really beautiful stone that kind of glows blue it's really hard to

explain it will only make sense when you see see I don't think healing arts is

open on Mondays which is kind of sad for yesterday's vlog but for today's vlog

it's a happy thing under hood and today I'm gonna get that piece of labradorite

I mean it is a huge crystal it's like this size not that maybe this size that

size I have some work to do here but before I can focus on the work under

here I need some coffee you guys know what I need I need no

coffee to work

no can work the finish up some work there my computer got most of it done

right now it is one wet and cool day look at this rain right now the camera

is really like a told water droplets on the it's a wet day but right now at this

very moment I'm on my way to meet George George's don't swim bath that's we're

meeting them right now funny enough that's the exact same place I met George

whenever we were flying the drone Halloween which was freaking amazing

flashback to Halloween look at this footage

domicile rainy I was meant to meeting George at 4 p.m. right now it's like

5:00 past 4:00 p.m. so I'm like 5 minutes late I can see George's car

sitting here and I really hate being late for things you yo guys what's up so

just met up with George like two minutes ago you gave me this camera here this is

a slow-motion camera we're gonna use this for our company it's in this case

I'm gonna do full comprehensive review /cast on this camera in tomorrow's video

I would have tested it today I've had it early enough I really want to test that

when it's at the brightest parts of the day and when it's starting to get dark

I'm gonna satisfy fully darkest just to see how it performs and light and load

like who check out tomorrow's vlog for this comprehensive review on a

slow-motion camera

my camera just got super drenched in the rain like it is coming on have you

itemized you keep the land somewhat dry wait I have an idea let's try this

camera one fully dried camera check

ah just left heel darts there a second ago I comfortable Brad all right I got

the crystal to my bag right now I'm really excited to open this when I go

home and a little looking at in the shop I know it looks like already it's got

this really cool glow to it it's really as I said before it's really hard to

explain what it looks like until you actually see it

this is Kaden Hiro's going I'll see you all the time

nice to meet you so we just got some time lapses I was going to get coffee

but the guild was closed and then I looked around here and the warehouse was

closed so I'm probably just gonna head home but before that I want to do a test

a test with us a TD there's something I had discovered with this camera that I

never even knew existed on this camera but this footage right now you're seeing

should be granting normally the dark areas are super grainy but right now

they're not even they're nowhere near it even if I go over here to this dark part

it's not grainy this right now that you see even look at the sky this is what

you would normally see see all this grain all this noise this is what you

would normally see when I'm vlogging but after I discovered the thing on the

camera this is what it isn't I see how much sharper this is I can't believe

I've never discovered this before let me explain how big of a deal that says I

always say that I can't take cinematic footage at night whenever it gets dark a

cinematic footage is gone it's too grainy to do anything that looks nice

but know that I've discovered this thing on the camera can I'm gonna do some

cinematic footage right now guys I hope you enjoy it this is b-roll three two

one

well I hope you have a fantastic night guys if you're watching this at night

time that is if it's daytime I hope you're having a fantastic day say first

off this camera slow-motion camera I will test this out in tomorrow's video

second off does people say second off taking off this crystal that I got today

I am super excited to show you guys this I've seen in the shop and I was like

damn that is super cool also I hope you guys enjoyed the b-roll you just watched

I don't know why it's gonna turn out because I've never really done proper

cinematic cinematic footage and in the dark slash night times doesn't look

really special when you look at it first off you're like oh it's just a stone

wait to see it in the light to see if I even tell to the slightest but see it's

kind of blue sheen you're getting off it here that there look at that I'm gonna

flex the camera at effort land so you guys can actually see what I see it

looks kind of something like - you can't quite capture it right now I need to get

this light on it as you can see it's got this really freakin cool blue sheen this

is a blue glow I was talking about hold it this way it looks like a normal stone

boom looks like freakin special effects it's got this glow all over it really it

all depends on what angle you look at it in here right up here really like this

side though we really get like a lot of blueness there now we're gonna get even

closer in this thing like it just looks like a normal stone you know like a

normal ornament or shellfish then you look at it and it's just so much more I

love things like this it's just something really special it all sort of

depends on what way you look at it or way the lights hitting it but I'm gonna

stick on a macro lens so I can get really really close to this thing this

isn't even closer view at it okay you're sitting like okay normal stone actually

no Jesus look at that hold it up this way you said even more it really is a

really cool stone like let me know in the comments you guys think of this and

where does this work let me know if you know why this works it's pretty

incredible whenever you think about it this stone something that came from the

air to the groin the planet that we live in is able to produce such a beautiful

stone its classes at a rare / semi-precious stone it can be hard to

find sometimes I'm not really sure where it's mine I think we can all agree on

something here bubble wrap is like the best thing ever is to squeeze okay okay

I find some information on labradorite okay

this crystal right here the geological type area of

brat aright Hall's Island near the town of nain in Labrador Canada it has also

been reported in Norway and various other locations worldwide I don't know

where this one came from an either from Norway or Canada or another location

most likely Canada though that's where they're mine in it and stuff and I think

that's where they're trying to find it let's say though in yesterday's video

that I will do a notification shard in today's video and that I shall do right

now Kuna McAuley I hope I much name right I smashed the freaking Bell thank

you so so much Kuna I really hope I pronounced that right I'm really bad

with pronouncing things and getting people's names wrong I apologize if I

pronounced that wrong but on that I'm gonna end up this vlog right here if you

guys enjoyed we smash the like button down below smash it just like I smashed

that crystal button actually smashed by the way I would never do that and be

sure to subscribe to my channel you haven't already and if you want to

notification shout out and any other of my videos hit the bell and let me know

in the comments down below that you did so but on that thank you guys so very

much for watching the XY's nice signing off and i'll see you guys tomorrow in

Giveaway! Amigurumi Cactus Kits - Duration: 3:46.

This week, I have a very fun giveaway from Global Backyard Industries, and it's for these

little cactus kits.

I do a lot of serious giveaways with serious knitting projects, this is very fun.

And these kits are really cool because everything you possibly need is in the kit to make the

items.

And Global Backyard Industries has a lot of kits like this in a lot of different crafts.

They have a crochet, and knitting, and painting, and cross-stitch, and embroidery.

And if you're looking to give some new craft a try, the kits like this are a great idea

because it's not a big investment, and everything you need is in the kit.

I was browsing, thinking, "I wanna try a polymer clay, or painting, or something."

It's all very cool, so if you click the little "i" in the upper right-hand corner, I'll have

a link to Global Backyard Industries on my website.

But for today, we have a giveaway.

I have four of these to give away, four lucky winners, and each winner will have their choice

of the little Charlie Cactus or the Ruby Cactus.

And the skill level on these is easy, so you don't have to be great at...a great crocheter

to make these, it's all very simple.

And I'm gonna show you what is in the kits here.

I've already opened this one up, and taken a look.

And when I opened this bag at home a few days ago, my dogs came running because it sounds

just like the bags their treats come in.

Okay, I think I've got all of it.

Let's get this out of the way.

First off, you have your instructions, and it's a photo tutorial.

So you don't have to be a great crocheter, you just have to be able to follow instructions.

And you have a bag of the fiberfill for the little plant.

You've got your terracotta yarn for the plant, the yarn for the soil, and the green yarn...the

green novelty yarn for the cactus.

And this is something really interesting, they've actually gone to the trouble to make

the little cactus flower because I think this is a little bit more difficult crochet than

the rest of the project, and they would have to make it, like, a more advanced project.

That's my guess, I haven't asked them, but it's very nice.

All you have to do is just plop the little flower on.

And here is some plastic for the base.

There's a straw support, and you get your crochet hook and your tapestry needle.

Everything you need is in this kit, and they turn out to be so cute.

If you want to enter to be one of the four lucky winners, go ahead and click the little

"i" in the upper right-hand corner.

The entry form is on my website, and I'll have a picture of the cactus there, and I

will have a link to Global Backyard Industries.

I think that's everything we need.

Anyway, the winner will be announced next week, good luck.

This isn't a Truck Stop - Sam's House (Scene) | Transformers (2007) Movie Clip - Duration: 8:14.

Whatever fell out of the sky ended up right behind...

- What did he say? - What?

- Did he hear it, too? - Yeah, Jack heard it, too. Yeah.

- What does he think it is? - He thinks it's a military experiment.

- What a knucklehead. - Yeah, well, I think it's a plane.

Still no official word as to what happened. You can see...

- Yeah! - Call Sam.

- Yeah. Why? - He should be home in 15 minutes.

Well, I'll call him in 15 minutes.

If you wait 15 minutes, he'll be late and you'll have to ground him.

Well, I can't ground him if he's not late, can I?

I need you to stay here, all right?

You got to stay here and you're gonna watch them.

- Okay, okay. - All of them.

- Do you hear what I'm saying? - Yeah, okay, okay.

Five minutes, all right?

- Thanks for staying on my path. - Oh, yeah. No, no, Dad. Hey!

The... Oh, the path. I'm sorry. I forgot about the path.

I'm gonna sweep the whole thing right now. How about that?

- You know, I buy half your car... - Yeah.

Then I bail you out of jail and then I just decided to do all your chores.

- The chores. - Yeah. Life is great, huh?

Life... Life is fantastic, is how good it is.

It's so... Oh, the trash cans. Sorry, Dad. I'm gonna do the trash cans now.

No, no, I don't want you to strain yourself.

No, no, I won't strain myself, Dad.

- I'll do it. - It would hurt my feelings if you do it.

- You sure? I don't mind, I don't... - I promise...

No, no, no, I'm gonna do it.

I'm gonna do the trash cans and I'm gonna scrape the grill

and I'm gonna... I'm gonna sweep up the whole house right now.

- Tonight, right now? - Right now.

The...

I love you. God, I love you

just so much right now.

You know, Mom wanted me to ground you.

- You're three minutes late. - Right?

Oh, well, just another thing you did for me, Dad,

because you're such a swell guy.

One more thing, huh?

All right, I love you! Sleep good, handsome man!

What are you doing? What are you doing?

No, watch the path! Watch the path! Watch the... Please, please, please.

No, no, wait. No, no, no! Oh, no!

- Sorry. My bad. - Oh, I... You couldn't...

You couldn't wait for five... You couldn't wait for five minutes?

I told you to just stay! Just stay! God!

- I told you to watch them. I told you. - Okay, you know what?

- They seem to be in a little bit of a rush. - Oh, this is bad. No!

Mojo, Mojo! Off the robot! God!

- Oh, wet. - No, no, no, no, no! Easy! Easy!

Hold on! Hold! This is Mojo. This is Mojo. He's a pet of mine.

He's a pet. Okay? That's all. If you could just put the guns away...

- Put the... Put them away. Please. - You have a rodent infestation.

- A what? - Shall I terminate?

No, no, no, no. He's not a rodent, he's a Chihuahua.

This is my... This is my Chihuahua. We love Chihuahuas! Don't we?

He's leaked lubricants all over my foot.

- He peed on you? Bad Mojo. Bad Mojo! - Bad Mojo!

I'm sorry. He's got a male dominance thing.

That's all it is.

- My foot's gonna rust. - All right.

Okay, okay.

- Shut up and go hide! - Just hurry.

Autobots, recon.

I hope he's okay. He's in the kitchen.

Got some ice on his nose.

I had to slap him around a little bit.

You did not.

- You didn't even ground him. - Almost, almost.

Where are they? No, no, no, no, no.

Come on, come on.

- What? What is this? - Time is short.

- They really want those glasses. - Come on. What are you doing?

- I'm gonna help you. - Okay.

- Please hurry. - Okay.

- Yeah, no, no. It's definitely gone. - What do you mean?

My glasses were in the bag.

They were in the backpack and now the backpack isn't here.

Well, they're gonna be pissed, so what do you wanna do?

So what I think you should do is you should...

You should check this whole... This whole section here.

Just give it a clean sweep, and I'll get the corner here.

Yeah, no, no, no. Not there. That's my... That's my private...

- Sorry. That's nothing. - You just...

- You just told me to look... - I know,

but I didn't mean to look inside of my treasure chest.

You should be way more specific so I don't get in trouble in your room.

I'm already stressed out enough.

Okay. What now?

No. No, no. No, no, no.

This isn't hiding. This isn't hiding. This is my backyard, not a truck stop.

Oh, God. Oh!

Okay, I saw it. The UFO landed right here and now it's gone.

My moped's under there, man! Who's gonna pay for that?

Sam? Sam, Sam, Sam, Sam.

- He's back here. - I can't deal with this. I can't...

What? Oh, no, no, no.

- This is my mother's flower... - Oops.

Okay, listen. You got to listen to me.

If my parents come out here and see you, they're gonna freak out.

My mother's got a temper, okay?

We must have the glasses.

I know you need the glasses. I've been looking everywhere.

They're not here. They're definitely not here.

Keep searching.

I need you to be quiet for five minutes.

Ten minutes. Okay?

Please, I'm begging you. You got to... You're making a racket.

I can't concentrate. You want me to look and I'm hearing...

Calm down, calm down.

You got to do something here. You got to do something here.

- Autobots, fall back. - Thank you. Please, for five minutes.

Good? Good? Okay.

- Move! - Get away!

What's the matter with you? Can't you be quiet?

He wants us to be quiet.

Earthquake! Move, move, move, move, move! Earthquake!

Judy! Judy, get under the table! Move it! Duck and cover right now!

How did you get over there so fast?

Wow! That was tingly!

- You got to try that! - Yeah, that looks fun.

- Sam? - Sammy?

- What the hell is that? - I don't know.

- Sam? - That's weird.

- Sam! - Ratchet, point the light.

- Come on, hurry. - Listen, we got a major issue in here.

What's with the light? You gotta stop the light.

What's going on? Turn it off. You gotta tell him to shut it off.

- Shut it off. - Sam, are you in there?

How come the door's locked?

You know the rules. No doors locked in my house!

You know he'll start counting

- if you don't open the door! - One more chance. Five...

Oh, dear.

- Four. It's coming off the hinges, pal. - He's counting!

- Sam, just open the door. - Three.

- Oh, my. - Two.

- He's counting. - Stand back.

- What's up? What's with the bat? - Who were you talking to?

- I'm talking to you. - Why are you so sweaty and filthy?

I'm a child. You know, I'm a teenager.

We heard voices and noises and we thought maybe you were...

It doesn't matter what we thought. What was that light?

No, what light? What? There's no light, Dad! There's no light!

You got two lights in your hand! That's what it is.

- Maybe it bounced... - There was light under the door.

Look, you can't... You can't just bounce into my room like that.

You got to knock. You got to communicate.

- We knocked for five minutes. - I'm a teenager.

- We knocked. - You didn't knock.

- You were screaming at me, okay? - No.

This is repression, what you're doing here.

- You're ruining my youth, okay? - Oh, for Pete's sakes!

You are so defensive! Were you masturbating?

- Judy. - Was I...

- No, Mom. - Zip it, okay?

- It's okay. - No, I don't masturbate!

That's not something for you to bring up.

- That's a father-and-son thing, okay? - Father-son thing.

I mean, you don't have to call it that word if that makes you uncomfortable.

You can call it Sam's happy time or...

- Happy time? - ...my special alone time...

- Stop. - Mom.

- Judy, stop. - ...with myself.

- Mom, you can't come in and... - I'm sorry.

It's just been a weird night. I've had a little bit to drink.

- No, no, Dad. - Yeah, well, we saw a light.

Oh, parents.

I don't know where it was, but we saw it.

Earthquake! It's another one! Another earthquake! Get in the doorway!

- Okay! - Aftershock! Aftershock!

Oh, I hate these.

- Got to ride it out. Ride it out! - Quick, hide.

- Hey, the lights are back on. - Hide? What?

- Where? - Come on, get out of that tub.

Can't you take safety seriously?

- Good Lord, this floor is filthy, Sam. - Oh, oh, man! Man. Oh.

Oh, no! Look at the yard. The yard is destroyed.

Judy? Better call the city. We got a blown transformer!

Power pole's sparking all over the place!

Oh, man. Yard's a waste.

Trashed. Gone.

- It's a wash. The whole yard. - You're kidding.

The parents are very irritating.

- Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Can I take them out?

Ironhide, you know we don't harm humans.

What is with you?

Well, I'm just saying we could. It's an option.

We heard you talking to somebody, Sam.

- We wanna know who. - Mom, I told...

Hi. I'm Mikaela.

I'm a... I'm a friend of Sam's.

Gosh, you're gorgeous. Isn't that the prettiest girl?

- She can hear you talking, Mom. - Thank you.

Oh, my goodness. I'm sorry you had to hear our little family discussion about...

- Sorry that we're bugging you. - Do you have my backpack?

- Come on, hon. Let's go. - Oh, it's in the kitchen.

The Pardoned Turkey - Duration: 1:02.

This week in Washington News, President Donald Trump fulfilled the time-honored

tradition of pardoning a Thanksgiving Day turkey.

Now the question on every American's mind is what's this free bird going to do next?

"smooth jazz music playing"

So, any Thanksgiving plans?

I know that's a touchy subject for ...

birds.

How about you?

"smooth jazz music continues to play"

So you just call turkey bacon, bacon?

"more smooth jazz"

"break dancing music for a change of pace"

"back to smooth jazz"

Happy Thanksgiving

No turkeys were harmed in the making of this video.

Taking Research Beyond the Bench - Duration: 11:19.

Thinking about environmental sustainability and especially with the coming proliferation

of the internet of things devices and so on, nano geometries become interesting because

it minimizes the material impact on the body or the environment because the amount of active

electronic material is absolutely minimal. Welcome to Stories from the NNI. This series

features voices from the U. S. National Nanotechnology Initiative. I'm Lisa Friedersdorf, Director

of the National Nanotechnology Coordination Office. I chatted with Dr. John Rogers, founding

director of the Center on Biointegrated Electronics and professor at Northwestern University.

We discussed his research, the importance of multidisciplinary interactions, and

mentoring of students. John, can you tell me a little bit about your work? Well, yeah,

I'm a materials scientist, I'm an academic focused on research on new materials in particular

advanced biomedical devices. What we're trying to do is create foundational understanding

and technology capabilities for biocompatible forms of electronics. If you think about you

know the integrated circuit, as it exists in consumer gadgets, great for devices like

your smart phone but if you want to think about ways to leverage that kind of technology's

sophistication in biomedical platforms that can sort of integrate with the human body

to provide advanced diagnostic or therapeutic functionality you immediately realize there

are huge differences between you know those kind of man made circuits and say biological

circuits that exist you know in the brain. A lot of that has to do with radically different

classes of materials in those two systems but it also you know relates to differences

in mechanical properties and geometries as well. A computer chip is flat and rigid and

hard. The brain is soft, and curvilinear and textured. A lot of what we've done over the years is to try to develop

foundational electronic materials leveraging principles of nanotechnology to create biocompatible

soft flexible electronic platforms that have real utility. So, our research will move all

the way from novel materials to systems that we can deploy and optimize around existing

unmet needs in clinical medicine. That's a great introduction. Tell us a little bit how

you got involved in this type of research? Well, I guess my interest in flexible electronics

and my exposure to it started when I was back at Bell Laboratories. And there we were developing

these kinds of organic semiconductor materials, mainly consumer technologies, flexible displays

for example. As a result of inbound inquiries from neuro scientists who were interested

in the ability to take some of these flexible electronic platforms we were developing for

displays and deploy them on the brain. I think that kind of interest really led us to pursue

that direction as well. I think that has to do with my own interests in developing technologies

that have maybe a broader long term societal benefit that exceeds you know what you could

do in a consumer technology like a display by addressing important problems in human

health care. You talked a little bit about your interest in having a societal impact

and I Think that part of having that impact is moving your research out of the lab and

you've been quite successful at licensing your technologies. What advice would you give to

other researchers who might want to move their research beyond the lab? Well, I really encourage

them to think about that. I think as academics, and as recipients of federal funding, we kind

of have an obligation to the broader society they paid for the research. There's educational

value in it, but ultimately, if you can create new technologies and new jobs and broader

societal benefits that would be a great thing to do as a way to pay back the taxpayers who

are funding a lot of this research. We've tried to be pretty energetic about pushing

some of our technologies in that direction it's sort of Bell Labs-ian mind set in a sense.

What we try to do is deep at a scientific level and is fundamentally grounded in

basic research but around problems and topics whose solutions have a technology consequence

to them. And so, I think the commercialization aspect is important to us. Could you talk

a little bit about your interactions with the NNI? Over the years we've received funding

from NSF programs that have been focused on nanoscale phenomena science and engineering.

Department of Energy, DARPA as well. We were part of an NSEC center on nanomanufacturing

when I was back at University of Illinois for 10 years and that was a very important

set of interactions for us. Building these devices involves innovation at the materials

level obviously development of nanoscale materials and device architectures that can exploit those materials but means to do

manufacturing are incredibly important as well and that center you know really did,

for us anyway, establish a lot of foundational capabilities for manipulating and doing manufacturing

of these materials and those technologies and those concepts really flow through everything

that we've done since that time because they're so enabling in terms of our ability to build

prototypes and scale things to levels of sophistication that can have real clinical utility. So I

would say there have been a number of modes of interaction with the NNI. Those are some

examples. I'm thinking of nanocellulose, I work a lot with the Forest Service, of course

they're part of the NNI. I Guess you alluded to the fact that looking at a semiconductor

or a polymer with semiconducting properties is a different approach to the one that you're

taking. So is nanocellulose not a substrate that you would look at? Well as a substrate, absolutely would be

interesting to us. Now that you've mentioned cellulose I mean one of our major research

thrusts in the group right now is some what related to the flexible and stretchable electronic

technologies that we've been talking about so far but is focused instead on biodegradability

as the key defining characteristic and environmentally degradable as well. And so, there a material

like cellulose is particularly attractive in terms of Forest Service and thinking about

environmental sustainability and especially with the coming proliferation of the internet

of things devices and so on. You know, a big question becomes what is the overall life

cycle of these kinds of devices and what's happening with the nanomaterials and where

do the substrates go , how do you do remediation and waste recovery and so on. One solution

is to just build things out of materials that are already environmentally friendly and which

will naturally dissolve away. Nano geometries become interesting because it minimizes the

material impact, right, on the body or on the environment because the amount of active

electronic material is absolutely minimal, you know, in the microgram or sub-microgram

regime when you're using let's say silicon that's only 10 nanometers thick. That's kind

of a comment to follow-up on your question around cellulose because we've actually used

it in those kinds of biodegradable and environmentally degradable platforms but where we use silicon

and biodegradable metals like magnesium, tungsten, molybdenum as the current carrying layers.

So that direction is a major thrust of research going on in the group and I think it is different

than and complimentary to the stretchable devices that we're discussing earlier. Those

are all areas that I find personally very interesting and I have to say after being

out of the lab for many, many years you for the first time made we wish that I was a student

again because this is really just a fascinating area. Could you talk a little bit about how

you interact with students? My feeling is that my own career impact will be dominated

by what my students do, you know, when they graduate out of the group and go off and establish

their own careers. The kind of educational roles that I have fall into different categories

one is sort of at the level of graduate student mentorship, you're trying to teach people

how to do research, how to think independently, so that they can go off and pursue a career

effectively. Post-docs who are kind of looking to finish up and understand some of the finer

points of how to run an academic program. That's another educational role. The other

two are sort of at the undergraduate level. One in the classroom is pretty standard but

I'm also very engaged in undergraduate research. Primarily because I had a great experience

as an undergraduate researcher and I think it was that experience that led me on my career

path that I'm on now. ANd I feel that it is my obligation to offer to undergraduates that

same kind of opportunity that I had. Classroom education is a key part of the undergraduate

experience and you know, it is irreplaceable piece of establishing core expertise but ultimately

that's not the way you're going to operate into the future. You're going to be immersed

in more poorly defined sets of problems you'll have to think independently and be able to

work in a way that's a lot more similar to that in a research lab. And giving undergraduates

a chance to experience that is very important because for some of them it will open their

eyes to a career that they might not have thought about or for others they may realize

that that career path is not for them and it can be equally valuable in that sense.

We probably average between 40 and 70 undergraduates in the group at any given time. For the undergrads,

it gives them an opportunity to join in and get engaged in scientific research and discovery

and engineering development. And I think over the years it has been very gratifying for

me personally to give them that opportunity and to just watch where they end up in terms

of their careers. I think it's a hugely important function and that's kind of my mindset. I

think the only downside for me, I end up writing hundreds of letters of recommendations to

grad schools for all the undergrads but that's fine too. Well, that was great. And, I just

couldn't agree with you more. I mean my undergraduate research experience is what drove me to go

to grad school and set my path as well. And I just agree with everything you said. It

was absolutely fabulous. I appreciate so much your time. Thanks again for the opportunity.

Un-f#king-beliveable

It's been dry as hell the whole f#king day

And this sh#t decices to start raining RIGHT when I go out to record a vlog...

I really can't believe this...

Well hello there chaps!

I welcome you to my world

Where rain only falls when it really shouldn't...

As you can see I managed to get my favorite combo

Which is traffic and rain

Which seriously just warms my heart

Because it can't get worse

So if traffic dissolves or the rain stops falling

Then it'll become a nice f#king day

Oh yess, please do stop

Yiss we're slowing down, my favorite part

How many cars are there?

WHAT?!

HOW MANY?!?!

Why are there so many cars?!

Ehh, Police are there too

So good that I didn't start overtaking

I was already thinking about doing it...

Hello theeere...oh speedcams as well?goddamn

So guys I really needed to do a vlog by now

Because the truth is, that my previous vlog which I did on scooters

Was recorded a week before I published it

But I was lazy to do the editing and stuff for a week soooo....

And because of that, during those two weeks, well...

I'm not saying that I put half of a shop onto my bike

But I kinda do, soo..there're new stuff on it

Right now I'm headed to Vác[town] up to the Naszály [Hill behind Vác, clay mine]

And there we'll do a little showcase of the new stuff on the bike

BUT before that let me just overtake this crapton of cars because ugh...

By the way who still remembers my previous "Sick gadget show" vlog -

*Tribute to a Hungarian comics guy on YouTube called Vidman*

- Could remember, that I ordered a hand guard from ebay

Wery well

It has finally arrived and...

Here's some sneak peak footage of the installment:

*Quality product*

*Quality product*

10/10 would buy again

Spoiler: I didn't put it on the bike

Anyways I chose to go to Vác today

Because...

It's freezing there

Weather's sh#t there

There's a nice view there

So I can shoot some pics of the bike, because I haven't done that in a while

However until we get there

Let's talk about the very near future

This I also mentioned in my "Sick gadget show" vlog

That I don't know until when I can ride

Well seems like now I do.

Next week I'm going to an event, to which I'm planning to go with my bike

Well when you guys'll be watching the video it's this week already

Furthermore I'm also planning to go to the Citadel Event

Which'll be on the 2nd of December IN THEORY

I don't yet know if it'll be held or not [depends on weather I guess]

So I think I can keep it up till the 2nd

I mean

I can definitely ride until then, and go to the event if it'll be held as usual

Howevet if it'll be cancelled

In that case, erm..

Sometime during the second week of December the bike will be given to my mechanic for the winter

So because of that there won't be any motovlogs during winter...probably...

I did mention however a few ideas for videos previously

Such as gear and equipment introduction

And I'll probably visit my mechanic a few times

So as to do few updates about the progress

*tunnel syndrome*

For real?! Could you f#king stop raining, the sun's already out!

This is unreal!

As you may suspect, by disassembling my bike for the winter

I kind of seal the fate of the Daily Disappointments series

A few videos ago I got a question from a guy who's name I can't remember

In which he asked if I've stocked up enough videos

To keep the series going during winter when I won't be able to ride

Well the thing is, that the Daily Disappointments series -

- As I already said in a previous vlog -

Has a specific requirement

Which is....

*Tunnel syndrome intensifies*

Aw yiss

So which is that I can't really stock up from these clips unlike from vlogs

The DDAM series requires me

to 1.Ride a lot in the city

2.

Ride a lot in the city AND get into situations

Which are worthy to get into a DDAM episode

There are weeks when there're more of these and times where there aren't many

And I'm sorry to say, that the Daily Disappointments series

Will be "hibernated" for the winter

This pretty much means that not knowing the weather for the Feb-Mar period

The DDAM series will resume after the first week of March

And this years last episode will be out on the 1st of December

Right before the years last Citadel event

Oh, I miscalculated that turn

The bike really needs some proper treatment hence I'm giving it to my mechanic

Also my rear tire is in a pretty worn state to say the least

Which seems reasonable since I've ridden around 22.000 kilometers during the season

Right now I have about 500 km until 23.000...

I think I'll be able to do that until December

I have a Michelin Anakee III set on

And whoever's planning to buy new tires, I can tell them, that

Even if you aren't the thinnest guy around

And ride a lot on paved roads

Then the Anakee might be the right choice for you

Because as you can see mine's nearing 23.000 kilometers

*Some mild cursing*

Y-yeah, don't really go to wet grass with it,

Especially if it's already worn out

As you can see the rear tires situation isn't...the best...to say the least

But as I said I really rode a lot so it was worth it

However guys, the reason why I came here today

Is that during the weekend the channel's reached 2000 subs!

*Epic 2K celebration*

For which I thank you guys

It's a great feeling that you guys find all the videos I make interesting

And that you actually like to watch these videos

*Item showcase next time, I didn't want the rain to catch me* I really hope that I can keep making videos that you guys will like

And I'd say goodbye with that, I'll see you guys next week!

Until then, be safe on the roads

Take care of yourselves

And have a lovely day!

RE_Tour signing off, cheers!

Thanks for watching! If you liked the video feel free to leave a comment and subscribe!

Agile Value - Forget VALUE. Let's Talk MONEY! - Duration: 5:02.

Last time,

I tried to convince you that 1 + 1 really can equal 3.

I tried to you convince you reasoned argument.

This time I'm going to try and convince you

with cold hard figures

Hi I'm Gary Welcome to Development That Pays

Imagine you go into business.

building digital products.

(Perhaps a course of some kind)

You set to work and build it.

In a week.

And launch it, priced at $100.

By the end of the week, 10 people bought it.

You made $1,000.

THE END

Oh. you think that's not the end?

I think you're right.

If you made 10 sales in the first week,

it stands to reason that you can make 10 sales in the second week.

In a perfect world, you can make 10 sales EVERY week.

(We'll talk about imperfect worlds in a moment.)

Feeling inspired by your sales, you develop and launch a second product.

And you do it in record time.

And wouldn't you know it, in its first week you make 10 sales!

10 at $100, that's $1,000 dollars for you.

Time for some bookkeeping

In week one you have an income of zero

In week two you have an income of $1,000

In week three you have an income of $1,000 + $1,000 = $2,000

A total of $3,000.

Two weeks work, Three thousand income.

1 + 1 = 3

What if you'd done things differently?

What if you'd launched both products at the same time.

Week one: zero income.

Week two: zero income,

Week three $1,000 + $1,000 = $2,000 income.

Same time period.

Same work in.

Different income: $3,000 to $2,000

Depending on how you calculate it

that's a 50% increase or a 30% reduction.

Those are big numbers.

Let's mix in some real-world-ness.

There's more work in launching-one-product-and-then-launching-a-second-product.

Let's factor that in.

Let's say that it takes 50% longer.

(Should take anywhere near 50% longer... but let's see where it takes us.)

This changes the maths.

A lot.

In this three week period, the second course doesn't even make it out the door.

The first course had a week and a half of sales:

15 sales = $1,500.

That's "1 + 1 = 1.5" territory.

Hmmm.

Perhaps if we look at a longer time-scale.

You get excited about the economies of scale

and decide to build and launch 10 courses.

10 week of work.

10 sales each in their first week.

10 x 10 x $100 = $10,000

Very nice.

What if you've gone the other way

and launched them one at a time

Same effort (in total)

Because it takes longer to build and launch products this way,

You only manage to launch 7 courses.

But the value of each STACKS.

With a result that the total income in this 11 week period

Is $35,000!

Of course, the 10 courses now start generating $10,000 every week.

At at week 24, the lines cross.

One more spoonful of reality

Which of these 10 courses is best?

How do you know?

Perhaps a better question would be: WHEN do you know?

You know when you get feedback from your customers.

Is it reasonable to assume that the feedback you receive

Makes you better at making courses?

Could this translate into more sales?

Make that happen… and the lines will never cross.

Movies Canceled Because Of A Really Dumb Decision - Duration: 4:16.

It takes a lot of hard work and good luck to get a movie made, but all of that can be

ruined in an instant with just one bad decision.

Sometimes it doesn't matter how good the story is or how famous the stars are, because a

single moment of stupidity can wash it all away.

Here's a look at some promising movies that were cancelled because of a really dumb decision.

At the Mountains of Madness

The masterwork of horror and science-fiction author H.P.

Lovecraft, At the Mountains of Madness has long been a passion project for horror auteur

Guillermo del Toro.

And del Toro seems like the perfect fit for the tale of a group of scientists who discover

ancient, terrifyingly powerful entities in Antarctica.

Unfortunately, despite James Cameron producing and interest from Tom Cruise, del Toro couldn't

get funding from Universal because he told them it would be R-rated, meaning the teens

who usually flock to horror movies wouldn't be able to see it.

The project was cancelled, and del Toro later said he "should have lied" to executives and

told them that At the Mountains of Madness would be PG-13.

Halo

There were a lot of dumb decisions that led to the demise of the proposed Halo movie,

mostly because Microsoft apparently had no idea how Hollywood works.

They demanded a huge cut of profits and forced studios to jump through hoops to even have

a chance to read the script.

Plus, they wouldn't let Sony bid on the film at all — because Sony's PlayStation is one

of the Microsoft Xbox's chief video game console competitors.

Despite all that nonsense, Fox and Universal were both still interested and teamed up.

But then they made the final dumb decision in this whole dumb process when Universal

hired up and comer Neill Blomkamp to direct.

Blomkamp was a fan of the game with a distinct artistic vision.

The problem is, only Universal wanted him.

Both Fox and Microsoft reportedly hated what he was doing, wanting instead to make what

the director called a "generic, boring film — something like G.I.

Joe or some crap like that."

Ultimately, the only thing that came of it was some test footage that teases the great

Halo movie that could have been.

And Blomkamp?

He went on to make District 9 instead.

Great job, Microsoft!

Uncle Tom's Fairy Tales

In 1968, Richard Pryor wrote and starred in an extremely dark, socially conscious movie

with the intentionally controversial title Uncle Tom's Fairy Tales.

Pryor supposedly became so obsessed with making the film, his wife reportedly "destroyed the

negative of the then still unfinished movie in a fit a rage."

Nearly four decades later, another print of the film emerged thanks to director Penelope

Spheeris, but so far it hasn't been released either for legal reasons.

Pyongyang

Based on Guy Delisle's intense graphic novel about the struggles of living under the totalitarian

regime in North Korea, Pyongyang was supposed to start shooting in early 2015 with Steve

Carell in the lead role and Gore Verbinksi as director.

Then Sony decided to release The Interview in 2014.

That reportedly led to the infamous hack of the Sony servers in retaliation, not to mention

bomb threats against theaters that screened The Interview.

New Regency decided Pyongyang wasn't worth the hassle and canceled the film entirely.

The Beatles' version of The Lord of the Rings

J.R.R.

Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings books rank among the most beloved novels of all time.

First published as three separate volumes in 1954, it took until 2001 for Peter Jackson's

epic, live-action adaptation to hit movie theaters.

But there was an earlier version proposed in the 1960s — and it would have starred

The Beatles.

Yeah.

Those Beatles.

Besides doing a brand new double-album soundtrack, the Beatles were set to star in the live action

adaptation, with Paul McCartney as Frodo, Ringo Starr as Samwise, George Harrison as

Gandalf, and John Lennon as Gollum.

Unfortunately, Tolkien wasn't a Beatles fan, and he decided to nix the idea.

Otherwise both music and cinematic history would have been completely different… and

much, much weirder.
