I'm back it's been a month like so much has happened in the month like I went on
vacation then came back got sick immediately and then got piled with a
bunch of work but now I have something to show you
today I'm showing you a camera stabilizer by FOTOWELT you can get it
on the Amazon store they send it to me to try it out to review and see if this
helps at all with stabilization and that's what it's for it's for
stabilization so basically you just shoulder mount it like that it's like a
bazooka you apply the camera right to the rail here as a little tightening
thing on here this little guy right here screws into your camera and then you fit
this in like so you loosen it until it clicks in and you tighten it and then
you have it on it this slides back and forth - it really depends on your camera
what what type of camera you have if you have a really long lens you want to be
able to shift this back and forth so that you can have a nice balance you
want the center of gravity to be even between holding it here and your
shoulder and I'll tell you about the shoulder pad in a second because there's
this cool trick for that so you Center it like that I would like to have the
bars extend a little bit further if possible for taller taller people like
me but it's okay it's still manageable like this this is this is okay it just
would help if it was like a few inches out further for me because I'm a lanky
boa so in theory what this will do instead of holding your camera out like
this and there's a lot of shake which I'll show you in a second a few examples
you can have it nice and stable here moving it back and forth so there's no
mechanical stabilizers on here that's when you hear stabilizers that's usually
what that's supposed to mean this is just a contraption to help you stabilize
it's a mount stabilizing now shoulder mount something like that but it does
stabilize the footage due to physics so the shoulder pad is pretty comfortable
it's very light now what you can do and what I feel like this really should be
for is put stuff on top of here I have a system
she's going to be reviewing in a couple days so I bought this battery pack this
one's mine it has an AC outlet in it right here and
then I'm not gonna go into too much detail with it but this is an audio box
velcro at the bottom velcro on the mount stick it on like so don't let that slide
down this is this is adjustable - this slides up and then put it on your
shoulder and now you can have mobile audio an audio system for multiple mics
and stuff like that now where this helps the stabilizer which I didn't use in any
of the test videos because it's just for the frame it's just for I wanted to test
just the product itself to show you how it works just by itself because not
everyone has this stuff but pro tip if you can get something with extra weight
here it's not very it's not really heavy it's just enough weight to help push
this down so this can go up so you don't have to strain your arms as much moving
this around but it's also a nice platform to place things like this on so
that when you're filming things with audio and all kinds of other things like
that maybe you want to power your camera off of this who knows it's nice to have
that there instead of trying to find somewhere on your chest or backpack to
carry that so that's what I'm using that for
but again the test video examples I am about to show you don't have that on my
shoulder because this is a review just for that but I want to give you that pro
tip everything about the frame feels pretty solid it's all metal the handles
are like bicycle handlebars so that's kind of cool as you can see in the
footage the examples show that it is more stable it's not like a gimbal where
it's going to even out any bumps or anything like that but it gives you more
solid platform to move around in thus making the footage inherently more
stable you can see the examples where I'm not holding it not using the frame
not using the shoulder now it's a lot more shaky because my hand is
trying to compensate for the weight that it's holding and it's moving around in
different ways and I don't have the most stable of hands so I shake nothing keep
in mind this lens is a 42 millimeter which is on a micro 4/3 Center so it's
more like a 77 ish millimeter lens it translates that that is so it is zoomed
in a bit and it's fixed so everything about this lens is manual so I have to
adjust the lens manually so when I do by hand it creates a lot more shape because
I have to move my hand it and a lot more awkward of a position having it on the
shoulder now means that I can adjust it while it's leaning on my shoulder and
holding it with the other hand so I can adjust it a lot more smoothly so that is
also nice that you can do that as well so it does improve the camera handling
experience a bit there are some body attachment rigs that have manual
features on the handles themselves but those do cost quite a bit more money so
bottom line would I recommend it well for video projects yeah if you have a
tighter budget and you can't afford the expensive stuff I mean for $55.99 it's a
really good price and the added bonus of being able to mount things to the
shoulder is a big perk I think even though that may not be what's originally
intended I think it's kind of a no-brainer so though I don't think it's
a perfect system and could have a little bit more length for taller people like
me I do think it is exactly what you pay for and exactly as advertised so let me
know what you think in the comments if there's something I missed
let me know I'll try to answer it I'm a little bit scatterbrained sometimes and
especially because this is the first video I've done in over a month that's
the longest break I think I've had since starting YouTube so oops sorry I'll try
not to do that
you
