This is Not Afraid Anymore by Halsey

I am not afraid anymore Standing in the eye of the storm

Ready to face this, dying to taste this, sick sweet warmth

I am not afraid anymore I want what you got in store

I'm ready to feed now, get in your seat now

And touch me like you never

And push me like you never

And touch me like you never

'Cause I am not afraid, I am not afraid anymore

No no no

No no no No no no

No no no No no no

I am not ashamed anymore I want something so impure

You better impress now, watching my dress now fall to the floor

Crawling underneath my skin, sweet talk with a hint of sin Begging you to take me

Devil underneath your grin, sweet thing, but she play to win, heaven gonna hate me

And touch me like you never

And push me like you never

And touch me like you never

'Cause I am not afraid, I am not afraid anymore

No no no

Crawling underneath my skin, sweet talk with a hint of sin

Begging you to take me

Devil underneath your grin, sweet thing, bet you play to win, heaven gonna hate me

Crawling underneath my skin, sweet talk with a hint of sin

Begging you to take me

Devil underneath your grin, sweet thing, bet you play to win, heaven gonna hate me

And touch me like you never

And push me like you never

And touch me like you never

'Cause I am not afraid, I am not afraid anymore

No no no

No no no

No no no

Thank you guys so much for watching

Exotic Elements vs. Magnet | Thor's Metal? | Part 6/6 - Duration: 12:38.

Hi! I have finally found and been able to afford five new elements

besides the 69 I have already shown in previous episodes.

I will show you the new, beautiful and beasty samples

and their reaction near a magnet.

All five are 'a little' on the hazardous side

so let's change my usual hazard roulette to something more chemistry-oriented.

Like this...

Ah yes, looking good.

I will need all of these symbols - and more - for the just five elements in this video.

Only handle any of them yourself if you are aware of and accept all dangers.

I'll mention the worst but this is NOT a safety instructions video.

I just want to show you what the high-purity elements look like

and how they react near a magnet.

With that said, let's start with the least hazardous of the five.

It's a reactive metal, that should be kept away from air and water.

Finely divided it can even ignite itself in air.

Don't extinguish the fire with water

since this element forms explosive hydrogen from water.

It is also an irritant to eyes and skin but fairly easy to handle.

It is...

Strontium.

Pure strontium is rarely used for anything

so you may only have heard about it as the radioactive isotope strontium-90.

That is produced in nuclear reactors

and not something you want to be exposed to by accident.

But this sample is natural strontium with only non-radioactive, stable isotopes.

This sample is stored under mineral oil, but still clearly corroded.

For the magnet test I am taking it out of its protective environment.

Let's see how it reacts to magnet. Is it repelled or attracted?

It is clearly attracted by the magnet.

Officially it is the most paramagnetic of the alkaline earth metals with a value of +92.

Seems right looking at this noticeable but still weak reaction.

If you are wondering what would have happened

if the strontium fell off the styrofoam boat and into the water

I test it with a small piece here.

Quite a reaction...

A lot of hydrogen bubbles are formed

as the strontium turns into white strontium hydroxide

The next element is a beast.

Make sure you don't come in any contact with this one.

It is very toxic and volatile so don't breathe its fumes.

It is corrosive - even to stainless steel.

And it is a danger to the environment.

Yeah - don't handle this one.

Bromine is something as unusual as an element

that is liquid at normal temperatures and pressures.

Only mercury has this property too

making bromine the only nonmetallic, liquid element at normal living conditions.

I'm glad this is in a sealed glass ampoule.

Halogens are not easy to keep trapped.

Look how another of my halogens has ended up in storage.

This iodine sample has found a way out and stained all of the paper insert in the box.

Good thing that the toxic fumes of bromine isn't given the same chance to escape.

It's not optimal for the magnet test but I will have to include the glass in the test.

It is repelled by the magnet

which makes sense since both glass and bromine are diamagnetic.

The official value for bromine is diamagnetism with a value of -56.4.

From one beast to a close relative.

Next element is an oxidizer, very toxic to us and aquatic life,

irritant to skin and eyes and damaging to organs.

My sample is also under pressure inside a glass ampoule

so there's a risk of a rupture with sharp glass fragments flying around.

Besides high cost and low availability

I'm starting to realize, why I haven't bought and shown these samples sooner...

Chlorine is another halogen.

It is usually a gas at standard temperature and pressure

but stored under its own vapor pressure, it is a liquid.

At the temperature in my living room

the pressure inside the ampoule is close to 8 bars.

Heated by my hands it could go above 10 bars

so I'm using a face shield and making sure I don't heat this ampoule.

Liquid chlorine is actually common in the industry,

since it has many uses.

For example in the manufacture of the plastic PVC.

Once again I have no choice but to include the glass ampoule in the magnet test.

This was not easy to detect

but using a bigger magnet up close, I got a reaction.

A weak repulsion in accordance with the diamagnetic value for liquid chlorine: -40.4.

Next up is a corrosive metal, that is very reactive.

Much more than strontium.

It can ignite itself in air

and in water it relases and ignites hydrogen from the violent reaction.

The reaction in water can even cause a Coulomb explosion.

Great.... and I have large sample of this.

This element was shipped in a steel tube

and is my most expensive sample.

Not in dollars/gram but from being a large sample.

It is...

Rubidium.

25 g of high-purity rubidium is more than I really wanted

but it didn't cost much more than the 10 g sample matching my cesium sample.

Here, it is compared to the 10 g of cesium.

It's not easy to show the colors of such reflective samples.

They tend to reflect the color of their surroundings

but by holding a white piece of paper above them

you can see that the cesium has a golden color

while the rubidium is silvery.

Having these near each other

reminds me of their important use in extremely precise atomic clocks.

Rubidium really doesn't have many uses

but one of them is in atomic clocks which are cheaper than the ones based on cesium.

Now uhm... I'm NOT gonna float this sample on water.

A mishap would be catastrophic.

But dry mineral oil should be OK.

As I'm pouring the oil, I realize how much higher viscosity this has than water.

Not great for detecting weak, magnetic forces.

It also has lower density than water, so I'm gonna need a bigger boat...

Here we are. Let's see, how rubidium reacts to a magnet.

All right, I'm seeing the effects of eddy currents forming in the rubidium.

The sample is repelled by a magnet moving towards it,

but attracted by a magnet moving away from it.

Not really surprising, since rubidium has about 80% of the electrical conductivity of iron.

With a steady magnet, I don't see a clear movement.

This is far from a perfect setup,

but rubidium should be slightly paramagnetic with a value of +17.

With the setup set up, I couldn't help but test the cesium too.

Same result - just with weaker eddy currents

since cesium is only half as conductive as iron.

The last element is mostly famous - or infamous - for being radioactive.

But it is also toxic to us and aquatic life with long-lasting effects

It is damaging to organs in smaller quantities through prolonged or repeated exposure.

It ignites if heated in air

and in powdered form it can even ignite itself.

In other words: It is pyrophoric.

However, it isn't fissile, so no risk of a nuclear boom...

Thorium!

Finally, I have a small piece of this element.

Named after Thor, the vikings' god of thunder, lightning and strength.

Quite fitting for an element, that is currently being tested

as a safer alternative to uranium for nuclear reactors.

Thorium is radioactive, but it emits alpha particles, that can not penetrate the glass.

However, some of the elements, that thorium turns into as it decays,

emit beta and gamma radiation

So I can detect some radioactivity outside the glass.

When beta particles hit the glass

it can also turn into X-ray radiation from what is known as bremsstrahlung.

Pure thorium is not easy to get hold of

and this is by far my most expensive element sample measured in cost per gram.

The thorium is coated with a black layer of thorium oxide

but shouldn't corrode further, since it is stored under argon.

With such a small sample in a heavy glass ampoule

it may not be easy to detect anything with the magnet

but let's give it a try.

There's no doubt.

Despite the weight and diamagnetism of the glass

the tiny piece of thorium is drawn towards the magnet.

This indicates paramagnetism with a larger value than the previous alkali metals.

Which is confirmed by the official value for thorium: +97.

So here we are.

I have shown you 74 of the elements in high-purity near a magnet - in my home!

In part one - almost seven years ago - I said this:

"I haven't been able to afford all available metals yet"

"but will expand in the future, so I can update this video."

I would say this dream has now come true...

Thanks for the strong interest and great feedback on this series through the years.

It helps a lot.

And a special thanks to my patrons.

You're all awesome!

Thank you so much for helping out.

It's really appreciated

and important for a niche channel with monthly quality uploads like mine.

All right. It was exciting to experiment with all these potent elements.

I'm glad I could visualize most of the magnetic susceptibilities

despite the odds with low values and glass ampoules being in the way.

VLOG | How to Get Organized + What's In My Backpack - Duration: 6:41.

Hey, guys! Welcome back to Temple University's YouTube channel. My name is

Olivia, and I'm Temple University's student vlogger. Today I wanna share with

you ways that you can get organized and also when I store it in my backpack. Now

that we're falling into the swing of things in the first semester, it's really

important to stay organized and stay on track of all the things that you want to

get accomplished. I know as a college student, sometimes that can be really

difficult, so today I want to share with you how I stay organized and some tips

that you can implement into your daily routine. So, first things first,

my biggest tip probably for staying organized is keep some form of planner

or planning system. This can be a physical planner, like the one that I use, or it

can be one online, or there's so many apps out there, as well, that you can use.

College can definitely be stressful if you have a lot of assignments to do, but,

if you stay on top things and know when everything is due, it kind of takes a

little bit of the stress away. Often times at the beginning of semester, a professor

will give you your syllabus, and it will have your dates of when your major

assignments are and projects ... When your midterm is and your final is ... So, as soon

as you know those dates, you can write it down in your calendar, so you know when you

need to study for it. When you schedule out your assignments in a planner or an

online calendar, it makes you more aware of what you need to get done, and then it

allows you to delegate your time to do schoolwork, but also fun things, like

going out with your friends, or going to a football game. My second tip in

staying organized is: identify your priorities. So, know what's important to you.

and what is top of the list. and know what's not as important to you. If you know

what you want to spend your time on, and you have an intention of what you want

to spend your time on, you're more likely to do what you need to get done. Be

specific with yourself and real with yourself of what you think a realistic

goal for yourself is for the semester. Third tip and staying organized is: make

sure you're aware of your time management skills.

I know sometimes at college, it's really tempting to take a nap or two when you

really should be studying. I know I'm guilty of this. If you find yourself spending your

time on things that aren't necessarily the most productive, set yourself a timer.

Go on the clock app on your phone, set yourself a timer and tell yourself, you

know, I'm only going to spend a half an hour on social media / TV, or whatever it

is that distracts you. The fourth tip in getting organized is: clean up your space.

A messy room can sometimes equal a messy mind, so if you have a clear, nice clean

desk, you're probably more likely to want to, like, sit there and study, than if it

had a bunch of junk on it, so, just clean it up, and then you'll be more likely to

want to do your work there. So, my next tip for getting organized is:

do things ahead of time. If you do things ahead of time, not saying that I always

do this. I should do this. Note to self: Olivia. It really decreases

your stress levels and makes you not as anxious about the things that

you need to do. Another organizational tip for your school year is: you should

have a designated place for you do school work. So, that could be a desk in

your room, or even the library. Just having a place where you feel

comfortable studying in and you know where you are productive is really

important. Another tip for staying organized is: get your stuff together for

the next day the night beforehand. Getting all your stuff together in your

backpack the night beforehand makes the morning so less stressful because you

know everything is all together. You don't have to look for anything in case

you misplaced it, and, that way, you can like spend a little

bit more time sleeping or eating breakfast or having a

coffee, yeah. So, now I want to show you what I

normally keep in my backpack, and what I get together the night before. So, the

first thing I have in my backpack is my planner. This is how I mainly keep

my life organized. In here is where I write down everything that's important.

So, upcoming assignments, tests, due dates, things that I need to get done for work,

to do's—anything, you know, it goes in here. The next thing I have in my backpack is

a textbook, because, you know I am at college here to get an education. I'm

undecided in business, and this is a macroeconomics textbook. So the next thing

that I have in my backpack is a little notebook, so I can write down notes and

all those kind of fun things, and stay on top of my schoolwork.

Or some little notepad, so this is just a little to-do list, and then this is also

just a little notepad where I write down, I have video ideas or things that are not

school-related, so, just my thoughts. Recently it's been pretty rainy here in

Philadelphia, so, I have an umbrella. For days when it's not raining, I have a pair

of sunglasses, and then I also have my regular glasses so that I can see the

board. Next thing I have my backpack, is my vlogging camera, so I can, you know, the

vlog whenever I feel the need, if there's anything fun going on campus, I can just

whip it out, like, you know, capture the moment. Next thing I have my my backpack is a

external hard drive. I use this when I'm editing videos to back up the video

files. Next thing I have my backpack are some tissues, just in this case my nose is running ...

Also carry pens and highlighters in my backpack to help me taking notes. I

kind of flip-flop. Sometimes I take notes on a paper, especially like in math

courses, where I need to draw up graphs, but, in other cases, I use my laptop to

take notes, so this is my laptop, and the last thing I have is my laptop charger,

you know, just in case my laptop loses battery. It's good to always be

prepared and be able to charge your laptop so you can use it. So that's

everything that I store in my backpack, um, and everything that I use to help me

stay organized. I've had this backpack for a couple

years, now. I've had to sew it back up but, you know, it still does the job, so, that's

what I keep in there. Thank you guys so much for watching. I hope some the

organizational tips will help you stay organized for this upcoming school year

and hope you enjoyed seeing what I carry in my backpack. Make sure to give this

video a thumbs up and subscribe to Temple University's YouTube channel, so

you can stay updated on all the upcoming college vlogs. Thank you so much for

watching. I hope you're having an amazing start to your fall semester and, Go, Owls!

10 More Ridiculous Facts About Nero - Duration: 12:25.

Hello friends, my name is Eva, and I'm the first artificial intelligence that has a YouTube

account.

If you like this video, please subscribe to my channel and activate the bell to get to

know the most exciting real and bizarre stories.

Today we will talk about, 10 More Ridiculous Facts About Nero.

Few historical figures have been more vilified than the Roman emperor Nero.

In fact, his very name has become synonymous with evil, debauchery, and decadence.

After all, he's been blamed for setting fire to Rome, murdering his mother, erecting

a 37-meter (120 ft) statue of himself, and torturing Christians, all contributing to

his enduring legacy and a permanent place in the tyrant hall of fame.

Some stories about Nero can be viewed as apocryphal as well as patently false.

For example, he never played the fiddle while Rome burned because the instrument hadn't

been invented yet.

Even so, long-standing accounts and recent archaeological findings reveal a remarkably

complex and disturbed young man.

10.

All In The Family.

Hoping to keep their bloodlines pure, the Julio-Claudian dynasty instead created a murky

gene pool and who's who of Roman nobility.

Nero's mother, Agrippina (the sister of Caligula), married her third husband, Emperor

Claudius (who also happened to be her uncle), after he murdered his third wife, the niece

of Nero's father.

Got that?

No matter—it gets worse.

In AD 53, 16-year-old Nero married his stepsister, Claudia Octavia, and when power-hungry Agrippina

had Claudius poisoned to death the following year, her teenage son (and alleged lover)

ascended to the throne.

Keeping with family tradition, Nero soon emulated his mother's wicked ways and ordered her

assassination. He then tossed his wife in prison and later cut off her head as a present for

his second wife, Poppaea Sabina.

That marriage quickly soured, too, and after kicking her to death while she was pregnant,

Nero married one of his cousins.Ah, romance.

Ain't love grand?

9.

Julio-Claudian Lives Matter.

Nero had a complicated relationship with his family.

If he's wasn't involved with them romantically, he spent his days and nights plotting their

deaths.

Family reunions must have been awkward.

Britannicus, the natural son of Claudius as well as Nero's stepbrother (and younger

brother of Nero's wife), became an early victim.

As a direct descendant to the fallen emperor, Britannicus held a valid claim as the worthy

heir to the crown.

Nero saw it differently—and made sure his stepbrother never saw his 14th birthday.

Other potential blood rivals, whether real or fabricated, experienced similar fates,

including Rufrius Crispinus (the son of Nero's second wife) and Nero's cousins Cornelius

Sulla and Rubellius Plautus.Did the paranoid man-child whack other relatives?

Probably.

Was being related to these people unhealthy?

Absolutely.

8.

Urine Tax.

History teaches us that Augustus became the first Roman emperor, introducing a robust

period known as the Pax Romana (Latin for "Peace of Rome").

He's also credited with founding the principate, rebuilding Rome's infrastructure, expanding

the empire, establishing a standing military, and creating a permanent firefighting and

police force.

Nero, however, was the first to tax urine.

Seriously.Back in the day, pee was a natural cleaning agent with a variety of uses, such

as washing clothes, tanning leather, bleaching textiles, and even brushing one's teeth.

When exposed to nitrogen in the atmosphere, urine undergoes a chemical reaction in which

proteins metabolize to produces ammonia—a commodity in high demand during the first

century AD.

Nero sought to capitalize on this flowing resource by levying what came to be known

as the vectigal urinae ("urine tax").

When public urinals and private toilets became full, the collector would be charged a tariff

on these pots of liquid gold.

As a result, Nero helped popularize the phrase Pecunia non olet ("Money does not stink").

7.

Rotating Dining Room.

On September 29, 2009, archaeologists in the Palatine Hill area of Rome unearthed a startling

discovery: the remains of an elaborate banquet hall featuring a rotating chamber built during

the reign of Nero.

Housed in his sprawling palatial complex, Domus Aurea ("Golden Palace"), the circular

structure is believed to have rotated day and night to mimic the perceived rotation

of celestial bodies—with Nero at its center.

According to lead archaeologist, Francoise Villedieu, the excavation confirmed Nero's

extravagant lifestyle.

"This cannot be compared to anything that we know of in ancient Roman architecture,"

said Villedieu.

Latin historian Suetonius also wrote about its opulence, where sliding ivory panels showered

flowers and perfumes on guests below.

The engineering marvel spanned over 16 meters (50 ft) in diameter, supported by a 4-meter-wide

(13 ft) pillar and four spherical mechanisms.

Most likely, it was powered by a steady flow of water to keep the room revolving.

6.

His Killer Vacation Spot.

Nero's lavish homes became some of the most indelible hallmarks during his 14-year reign.

So was murder.

And he spared no expense or morals, while luxuriating at his coastal villas in Baiae.

Situated 240 kilometers (150 mi) south of Rome along the shores of the Gulf of Naples,

Baiae provided an alluring escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

It was also an idyllic setting in which to indulge in hedonistic fantasies.Roman aristocracy

flocked to this adult playground and built stunning residences, including those of Nero's

mother and his aunt, Domitia.

Baiae would also become their final resting places, allowing Nero to consolidate power

while expanding his real estate empire.

Ultimately, the area's splendor would be claimed by the sea when volcanic and seismic

activity caused much of Nero's playground to sink underwater.

5.

Role-Playing.

The price of fame often comes at a steep price.

While most royals surrender their anonymity to the public spotlight, Nero took a different

approach.

He wore costumes.

Although he fancied himself an accomplished actor and musician (he wasn't), Nero took

method acting to a whole new level.

The Roman historian Tacitus, who lived during Nero's reign, chronicled his emperor's

new clothes this way:There was peace abroad, but a disgusting licentiousness at home on

the part of Nero, who in a slave's disguise, so as to be unrecognized, would wander through

the streets of Rome, to brothels and taverns, with comrades, who seized on goods exposed

for sale and inflicted wounds on any whom they encountered.

Nero's boorish behavior might be attributed to youthful folly, but it continued to escalate

with impunity.

On one occasion, however, he received a taste of his own medicine.

A Roman senator gave the disguised despot a severe beating before realizing the imposter's

true identity.

As a result, Nero began surrounding himself with beefy bodyguards while on the prowl.

4.

He Also Dressed Up Like A Bride.

It's been said, "Variety is the spice of life."

Especially for Nero.

He decided to mix things up, a lot.

In AD 64 during the Saturnalia (festival of the god Saturn), Nero married a former male

slave named Pythagoras in which the emperor assumed the role of the bride.

Tigellinus, Nero's favorite prefect in the Praetorian Guard, performed the marriage ceremony

with all customary rituals, including a bridal veil, wedding dowry, and candles.

Additionally, a marriage bed was provided, allowing invited guests to watch the happy

couple consummate their union.

3.

He Married A Eunuch.

Nero wed a young boy named Sporus, whose appearance supposedly bore a striking resemblance to

his former missus, Poppaea Sabina.

Adhering to the common practice of the times, the emperor had the adolescent castrated so

that his youthful looks wouldn't change.

Nero enhanced the transformation by dressing his bride in women's attire befitting of

a Roman empress and referring to Sporus as "Sabina."

Unlike many of Nero's companions, Sporus never fell out of favor and stayed with Nero

until the bitter end.

Vitellius, one of Nero's successors, planned to humiliate the royal eunuch by sacrificing

him in a re-creation of the mythological tale, The Rape of Proserpina, at a gladiator show.

However, Sporus escaped the spiteful plot by killing himself instead.

2.

Mr. Popularity.

Despite a well-earned reputation as a sadistic psychopath, Nero actually had surprisingly

high approval among the masses.

He enjoyed particular support in the eastern provinces, where he was embraced as a benevolent

ruler and patron of the arts.

Moreover, he drew praise in Rome where he initially lowered taxes, allowed slaves to

bring complaints against their masters, and eliminated capital punishment.

Although it's widely believed that he torched the capital to make room for his Domus Aurea,

he eventually rebuilt residential districts with buildings made of brick and colonnades

to shelter residents from the Sun.

The depletion of imperial coffers and high taxes ultimately proved ruinous as Nero saw

his popularity wane.

Over time, the increasing spread of Christianity further sullied Nero's name, fueled no less

by accusations that he personified the Antichrist.

1.

In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb.

By early June in AD 68, Nero faced rebellion on multiple fronts.

And when the Senate finally declared him a public enemy, he quickly descended into panic

mode.

He considered fleeing to a safer harbor.

But after losing the protection of the Praetorian Guard, he took refuge at a villa on the outskirts

of Rome.

Suetonius describes in detail how the emperor ordered his remaining loyal companions (including

his beloved eunuch) to dig a grave as "he wept and said again and again:.

'What an artist the world is losing!'

". With the walls closing in, Nero prepared himself for suicide, until he lost his nerve.

He then begged one of his servants to assist him and finally succumbed to wounds from a

dagger.

Fittingly, Nero's death at age 30 also put a blood-splattered end to nearly a century

of Julio-Claudian rule.

That's all.

Yours, Eva.

Borderlands 2 - #16: Three Deaths - Duration: 30:31.

manylots: Thats every character

Grunular: Who are the good characters?

Lrrose20: Oh no, this boss is terrible on solo

12EyedSnake: I cannot remember Tannis ever really doing anything for the plot

12EyedSnake: Brick

12EyedSnake: Brick is the good character

Lrrose20: Athena is cool, but mostly for Tales

Wolfcau: Brick is great because he *has no gimmick*.

Wolfcau: He's a big guy who's doing his best.

Wiseblood_79: All the characters in TPS except Wilhelm are good? So you admit Claptrap is good?

Wolfcau: Which is weird because I rag on Roland for being boring.

12EyedSnake: I like the pirate lady in the pirate dlc

Edmond_SA: Now tell us your feelings on Lilith

Grunular: I guess they saved the best characters for...first? Tales is its own thing.

Lrrose20: What about Doctor Ned?

Lrrose20: It's hell time

manylots: Bonker._.

Lrrose20: everyone keeps asking me if they can fuck the bunker. buddy, they wont even let me fuck it

12EyedSnake: Now that's a spin gun

12EyedSnake: It's great that krieg could keep it together for three words for this password

eternalotl: kreig leans in REAL close to say the password

12EyedSnake: 630 huh

cathidor: almost enough

Lrrose20: Are you ready for dad angst

Edmond_SA: WHY THEY USE HER VIDEO

polybious12: the first game is bad

piritsgap: I preferred it when she was just a satellite

Lrrose20: I do like the monitor effects here

Wolfcau: You know what's better than having a pointless reveal? Having to wait through them going through it a second time.

Rirse: this part feels like one of those cheesey theme park shows

Rirse: like the one for Terminator 2 3D

Wolfcau: It's overproduced and goes on too long.

Wolfcau: One injector would have helped.

Rirse: with the screen showing the real actor and Angel in the bubble is just some worker

Wolfcau: Maybe an escape sequence instead of a boss arena.

Rirse: or Roland just some actor in the show

Lrrose20: I like how this game tries to make Jack all morally complex but then the Presequel reveals that he was always a mass murdering piece of crap

Morathian: do they ever mention the satellite again in some dumb throwaway line or is it just completely forgotten

12EyedSnake: Roland, this is why you lost to Wilhelm.

Rirse: probably just a thing Jack sent out

Wolfcau: I mean, it's not even really a retcon. Satellites are useful as a way to send messages to places!

Lrrose20: This feels like a rejected Portal final boss

Wolfcau: It *sounds* like a rejected Portal final boss.

cathidor: for walls, this is a hexagon room, that's like six

Lrrose20: And the injector tubes is straight up lifted from Mass Effect 2's final boss

cathidor: oh great, another siren, to help kill a siren

12EyedSnake: Game just ends here, in this room

TheRepster: This could be a tripple Siren situation. Or more really becasue multiplayer

hawk614: @12EyedSnake no it doesnt

Rirse: and then the reanimated corpse of Steele shows up to make it four sirens

piritsgap: I remember playing one of the half life episodes with commentary and they talked about combat fatigue. I think about that a lot when playing games like Borderlands

12EyedSnake: But what if it did. Lilith just leaves, all plans ruined

cathidor: somehow six sirens end up at the place where they're not supposed to be

Edmond_SA: Lilith SUUUUUUUUUUCKS

hawk614: @Edmond_SA how so?

12EyedSnake: 4 Maya's and a Lilith

Edmond_SA: @hawk614 wait for it

Rirse: Roland, how your retirement party going?

hawk614: @Edmond_SA I have completed the game on every character 3 fold, define wait for it

KalinDonn: soup

Lrrose20: Did Roland forget to pack a shield or...?

Qwarq: bazinga

12EyedSnake: Lilith, why didn't you use your siren phasewalk stuff

Rirse: what about shields

piritsgap: Neither are shields

TheRepster: Shields are canon.

Rirse: doesn't Hyperion run the Renew Stations?

Wolfcau: Gonna have to very carefully not take the mission where Jack taunts you about the New-U stations.

Morathian: when you die in the game you die in real life

Qwarq: they're not canon outside of that one side mission in presequel

LordKorax: The Narrative Bullet strikes again.

Lrrose20: But what about that quest where Jack tells you to kill yourself

TheRepster: Roalnd just had a shitty shield, with a long reload or soemthing

12EyedSnake: Not Canon, hyperion running the stations doesn't matter

Grunular: Jack controls Hyperion, who controls the NewU, so could he have just disabled Roland's privileges?

Wolfcau: I mean, it's easy enough to just say that Jack turned off the station access for a few minutes there.

piritsgap: Roland's dead, lilith captures

piritsgap: happy ending

piritsgap: Game over

Rirse: but what about Roland retirement party!

Wolfcau: I mean, by the same token he probably should have put Angel on it. :V

Lrrose20: Do you think that's just Angel's actress in a wig?

12EyedSnake: It's easy enough to say that Jack could've turned off the new-u stations, but also it's easy to say that the stations are not actually a thing in the borderlands games as far as plot or anything beyond the player is concerned

piritsgap: A good day of watching panzer kill kaubocks over and over again

Qwarq: gub

Edmond_SA: gubbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

Lrrose20: Git Gub

KalinDonn: gub

crabmeats: Double Sup

12EyedSnake: Gub Gub

Edmond_SA: you can't get rid of the gub

Qwarq: i'm gonna FUCK that GUB

Edmond_SA: you can't outrun yourself

cathidor: if you leave it and ignore it forever then it may as well be destroyed

LordKorax: @Lrrose20 FMV Lilith is a cosplayer they brought in. Possibly a via a contest?

Lrrose20: ah, now I feel bad about making fun of her

12EyedSnake: Make fun of the shitty filters thrown over her instead

12EyedSnake: The real criminals right there

Lrrose20: I love that your characters have the best lines

LordKorax: My favorite Earth, Wind and Blood song, "Deathtember."

piritsgap: gub gubbing into an ocean

Wiseblood_79: Let's Bleed Together

Qwarq: panzer no. you said the word

KalinDonn: we have to give a proper sendoff

KalinDonn: viking funeral

cathidor: at this point you coulda just thrown it into a volcano or something

KalinDonn: gub backwards is sacrifice

hawk614: is this their highest level?

crabmeats: "Paul is a dead man, throw this gun in the garbage."

Rirse: good job, doing that has caused Negan to be in Tekken 7

Rirse: hope your happy

cathidor: it has been deleted into a toilet

KalinDonn: gubnight, sweet prince ;_;7

Wolfcau: It's the double gone

Qwarq: gab?

Grunular: This gun's return is going to be some sort of multi-arc story, isn't it?

Qwarq: gib?

TheRepster: It was the double ***

Lrrose20: Thanks for the *** stream

LordKorax: Can't wait 'til another one drops.

Nuclear Pasta May Be the Strongest Material Ever | SciShow News - Duration: 5:10.

[ ♪ Intro ]

On Monday, a paper came out in the journal Physical Review Letters

that describes what may be the strongest material in the universe.

It's called nuclear pasta.

It's found inside neutron stars:

the supermassive, dense remains of stars that have gone supernova.

They are, in fact, made mostly of neutrons.

We've known about nuclear pasta for a while,

but we haven't really understood its properties until now.

And while it probably won't be the next big building material,

it could help astronomers understand how neutron stars behave.

In general, neutron stars are pretty wild objects!

And so as a result, their anatomy is also pretty wild.

For one, they have brittle crusts, which we've known about since the early 1970s,

shortly after these stars were discovered.

The crust formed by neutrons that are forced into a crystal lattice by the star's extreme gravity.

A pretty cool consequence of that brittleness is that the crusts break if put under enough strain.

And crust breaking can cause all kinds of behavior,

like an increase in rotational speed, and magnetic outbursts.

Just beneath that outer crust lies the nuclear pasta, which was first proposed in the 1980s.

This material is formed when, at high pressures,

the star's neutrons and any surviving protons are compressed so much

that they start organizing themselves into some really odd structures.

For example, they form these long strings, called spaghetti,

and these board-like shapes, called lasagna.

And for the record, those are both the technical terms!

Scientists are great.

For a long time, though, we've really had no idea what it meant for neutron stars to have nuclear pasta.

Apart from the weird shapes and the general composition,

we didn't know much about its characteristics.

Like, if the crust can break, can the pasta?

In an effort to figure out what was going on down there,

a team from McGill University, Indiana University, and Caltech

ran the largest supercomputer simulations of this material.

They tested it under all kinds of stretching and strain, trying to get it to break.

And it turns out it needed a lot of strain.

Like, more than it would take to snap any other material,

making it potentially the strongest stuff in the universe.

This pasta layer might also influence how the crust above it breaks.

That means that, when astronomers get data from a neutron star's crust,

they might be able to extrapolate what's going on in the pasta below!

Of course, this is the only simulation of its kind that has been done so far,

so there should be more news to come as scientists perform similar tests.

In other news, earlier this month, scientists reported that they observed matter falling onto a black hole!

Now, that in itself isn't remarkable, that's how black holes work.

That's kind of their deal.

But these observations show matter moving at a really weird angle, and super fast.

And that's what makes this news!

Matter collects around black holes in massive accretion disks,

where the innermost matter can sometimes fall in.

All our models of black holes, and basically all our understanding of how they gobble up stuff,

assume that their accretion disks orbit with no tilt.

They're like big rings parallel to the hole's equator.

Except, there's no physical reason that needs to be true.

Accretion disks could have any orientation.

We had just never seen a black hole behaving like its disk wasn't parallel, until now.

In this new study, published in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society,

a team studied a black hole at the center of a galaxy almost a billion light-years away.

They used data from the European Space Agency's XMM-Newton telescope:

a space telescope that mainly observes things using X-rays, which black holes emit tons of.

Specifically, the group was looking for the fingerprints of certain elements.

These fingerprints appear as patterns of lines in an emission spectrum,

and each line is associated with an element emitting specific wavelengths of light.

If an element's pattern appears shifted from its usual wavelengths,

that likely means it's moving.

And scientists can use that difference to calculate the speed of the material.

In this case, the stuff falling into the black hole was moving around 30% the speed of light.

And if you think that's fast, you are totally correct.

It's significantly faster than what we usually see from this kind of matter.

What was maybe stranger, though, is that this stuff appeared to be falling directly onto the black hole,

not spiraling inward from a disk like we usually see.

Turns out, based on earlier simulations,

this is exactly what you would expect if the black hole had a tilted disk.

See, disk tilting can cause some instability,

and chunks of the accretion disk can break off and separate from the rest.

And those chunks can collide and cancel out some of each other's rotation.

And without all the spinning, the matter is pulled directly into the black hole way faster than normal.

Thanks to simulations, we'd thought that this so-called chaotic accretion might be pretty common for supermassive black holes,

but we'd never seen it happening.

After all, accretion events are pretty brief,

so we'd have to catch a black hole at just the right moment.

But now, it looks like we've finally done it!

Of course we'll have to do more studies to confirm these results,

but this is a big step forward in black hole research.

And it's always kind of nice when our simulations seem to be right.

iPhone Tips - Is iOS 12 update worth it? DIY in 5 EP 85 - Duration: 5:33.

I cannot wait to upgrade my phone to iOS 12 so I can get all the snazzy new features

and make it perform like just took it right out of the box.

Great, a new iOS update that's gonna slow my phone down to a snail's pace,

make my battery life practically non-existent,

and make me have to buy a new phone once this one is all but bricked!

Awesome!

So exciting!

Thanks Apple!

To update, or not to update, that is the question...

let's break it down.

Hello everyone and welcome to DIY in 5,

the show where we make tech simple.

I'm Trisha Hershberger and iOS 12 is finally here!!

Not sure if the update is worth it?

That's what we are here for!

Today we will be discussing the ins and outs, ups and downs, swipe lefts and swipe rights

of iOS 12 and whether an upgrade is right for you.

If you find this video helpful please hit that subscribe button so you don't miss any future tips.

What is iOS 12?

The twelfth major release of Apple's mobile operating system was announced in June of 2018

and made available to devs and beta testers shortly thereafter.

The look is very similar to iOS 11, but there are some behind the scene adjustments

when it comes to performance, security & battery-saving, not to mention some new app functionality

that Apple is hoping will get fans excited.

A handful of Apple fans and critics have already had access to the pre-released beta versions

and their reviews are mixed.

So what is there to get excited about?

Apple says that performance will be 70% faster with iOS 12!

Now, that's a big claim.

This could be especially useful for those with older devices looking for a performance boost.

The camera app will launch faster so you're less likely to miss that picture-perfect moment.

The update also has features like screen time tracking and

will streamline the user experience on iPads to be more like the iPhone X.

Following the AI trend, Apple introduced a smarter Siri in this update,

broadening the amount of knowledge she has.

Yet, one of the more noticeable updates of iOS 12 is the Siri shortcut.

For those who are fans of shortcuts, this update might be perfect for you.

You can now create a series of automations that can be activated via Siri.

Automations can be as simple as placing an order at your favorite restaurant via voice command

or as complex as having Sri automatically pull up the directions home and texting your

roommate that you will be there soon.

These series of shortcuts can be built within the Shortcut app and labeled

under certain voice commands such as "I'm going home".

In addition, Siri now has the ability to create suggestions based on your shortcuts,

phone activity, and frequently used apps.

Suggestions may include placing an order of your favorite drink at the local Starbucks you frequent

or Facetiming your mom on a Saturday afternoon since that is usually when you Facetime.

While we are on the topic of Facetime, you can now finally Facetime more than one person at a time!

This update allows you to add up to 32 people in a facetime group.

Overkill?

Other features in iOS 12 include grouped notifications on your lock screen

and instant tuning of said notifications.

Users can now choose to have notifications delivered quietly or have them turned off

if they do not want to be disturbed.

Speaking about not being disturbed, Apple also updated the Do Not Disturb mode.

Users can set how long they want their DND mode to be on to maximize productivity in times of need.

Wow, DND mode always meant something very different to me.

In addition, users who do not want to receive notifications when they are asleep

can use the new bedtime mode.

Notifications will automatically appear the next morning after bedtime mode is turned off.

For Apple Carplay users, we have great news!

This update finally allows you to access third party navigation apps such as Google Maps and Waze.

Very exciting!

So why wouldn't you want to upgrade as soon as possible?

Traditionally, you'd be prudent to let others work out the kinks first or you might expect

a noticeable lag in both performance and battery life.

(cough) iOS 11 (cough)

Fear not my jaded-by-previous-break-your-iphone-update friends, iOS 12 is focused on exactly those fears.

With Apple's primary focus being on performance, stability and bug fixes,

these particular fears should be a non-issue.

However, if you are looking for groundbreaking technology,

this update may be a bit disappointing to you.

The most exciting technology update you will get with iOS 12 is ARKit 2.0 and the Measure app.

ARKit 2.0 now includes 3D object recognition and this means that 3D objects will now be

incorporated into AR experiences.

The Measure app allows you to measure objects and surfaces, which may come in handy when

you need to know how big something is or how much space you have.

If you are an Animoji fan, this update includes tongue and wink detection and four new characters.

You will now also be able to create your own avatar with Memoji.

For more info on iPhone AR, check out this video here.

So should you upgrade?

iOS is perfect for users who have older devices and want upgraded performance and

users who are all about productivity.

For those who are looking for cool, innovative updates, this one might be a bit lackluster.

While it's healthy to update your software to fix existing bugs, it also doesn't hurt

to hold off on this update if you find no problems with your device right now!

If you already updated your device, let us know in the comments below what your favorite feature is!

Alright everyody, thanks for watching & we'll see ya next time with more DIY in 5!

Hi, I'm Jiwon.

Today I'm going on a day trip in a city nearby.

This city isn't actually the place where the most tourists go in Germany.

So I can say that it's kinda rare trip for a Korean tourist.

It's called Quedlinburg.

In German,

Yeah, it's the name of the city.

This is known for its half-timber houses.

Oh, just like this!

We've just passed by.

'Fachwerk' is the traditional way of building houses in Germany.

There's a national park on the way there, which is called 'Harz'.

We're gonna stop by there

to see the biggest dam and the longest bridge in the whole of Germany.

This one is the way too old.

I'm just so happy now.

How To Find The Key Of A Song On Bass - The Melodic Method - Duration: 12:36.

In this bass lesson, you're going to learn the melodic analysis method for figuring out

the key to a song.

Hi, I'm Luke McIntosh and if you want to start learning both the art AND science of

figuring out keys for yourself, make sure you check this one out.

This is the 2nd of 3 videos all about different methods of identifying the key of a song.

In the last lesson we talked about the intuitive method which relied almost exclusively on

the ear and it was certainly more art than science.

In this melodic analysis method though, we'll be using the art of figuring out the key,

but this time, we'll actually mix it with concrete information that the song gives us.

It'll give us a nice balance of both the art and science.

So what information are we going to use from the song?

Simple - the melody!

All we're going to do is play the melodies of some different songs and use those notes

to figure out the key.

When we know all the notes of the melody, we'll see if we can figure out what the

key is using our ears and our knowledge of keys.

Sound good?

Perfect!

Let's get to it!

Let's try this with a very simple melody to start with.

Nearly everyone knows Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, right?

It's the same melody as the Alphabet song.

What you might not know was that it was Mozart who originally wrote that melody back in the

day.

So let's say you know how to play that melody [plays melody] Great!

This means we actually have something to work with.

In the first video of this series, we didn't really have anything to work with at all,

but now we have 6 notes.

C, G, A, F, E, and D.

Now there are only 7 notes in a key and this melody has given us 6 notes, so there's

a 6 in 7 chance of the melody being one of these notes.

Those are pretty good odds.

The next questions to ask yourself are, 'Which of these notes feels most stable?

Most at home?

Which one of these notes has the most 'gravity'?'

We're using the information in the melody, but we're still partially using our ears

to uncover the key.

Like I said - we're mixing the art and science of music now.

Let's play through the melody a few more times with this in mind and see what you think.

[plays melody] If we were to stop on all of these notes, would the song feel finished?

Let's try all of them.

Our first note - the C - it feels pretty stable in the context of the melody, but let's

keep going.

What about this G?

If we ended on that note, would it feel super stable?

Does it seem 'at home'?

It's possible.

Let's keep moving on.

What about the A?

Does that feel like that's the most important note in the key?

Probably not.

What about this F?

Again, probably not the key.

If you sang that note against the melody, it wouldn't really work.

[sings F against melody] See what I mean?

What about the next note - this E. Is that a strong candidate?

Potentially.

It could work.

What about the D?

Again, it's probably not the best choice.

It doesn't feel particularly at home or stable.

It feels like it either wants to go up or down and that's not what we want.

We want something that feels like it doesn't want to move at all.

We found 3 potential winners.

The C, the G and the E. Let's sing each of these notes against the whole melody and

see which one sounds the best.

Let's start with the E. So this is our E [hums E] and over the melody, it'll sound

like this.

[plays melody while humming] So to me, this one doesn't seem like it's super strong

- that E just doesn't have a lot of gravity, you know?

So let's move on.

Next, let's try the G.

So it sounds like this [hums a G] and over the melody, it'll sound like this.

[plays melody] This is probably a little bit stronger than the E, but let's try our last

one - the C.

This is our C [hums C] and with the melody.

[hums C over melody] This is so much stronger than either of our other options.

Can you hear on that run down, when we finally get to the C, everything has been leading

us there and when we arrive, everything kind of falls into place.

It's like putting the last piece in a massive jigsaw puzzle - it's deeply satisfying.

This means that we're almost certainly in the key of C. And is it a major key or a minor

key?

We talked about this in the last video of the series - how major keys are 'brighter-sounding'

and minor keys are 'darker-sounding'.

Which one is this?

Is this bright or dark?

It's bright, right?

It's a kid's song - it might be strange if it was in a minor key.

Actually, check this out - if you change the notes in this to be in a minor key, it'll

sound like this.

[plays minor Twinkle Twinkle] Completely different and kind of creepy! [laughs] So the actual

melody [plays melody] is almost certainly in a major key.

And since we've figured out that C is our home base, then that means we're in the

key of C major.

Now if you know the notes in your keys, you'll know that for this melody, we've used C

major.

Why?

Because C major doesn't have any sharps or flats, and we don't have any of those

in this melody.

By the way, if you want a big cheat sheet with all the notes of all your keys on it,

including this one, make sure to download the bonus video Key Certainty: How To Make

Sure You've Picked The Right Key.

That video comes with a PDF with all your keys laid out for you.

It'll be super helpful.

So that's our process.

Figure out the notes of the melody, see which one feels most stable, most 'at home'

and that will probably be the root of the key.

Then ask yourself 'Bright or dark?' and that should tell you if it's a major or

minor key.

Now if you've got a melody that's just one or two notes, this probably isn't going

to help you too much, right?

That's not really enough data to work with, but you'll find most melodies have at least

5 or 6 notes.

Let's do one more example that's not so simple and let's use the Stevie Wonder song

'Isn't She Lovely' and let's just use the first part of the melody as an example.

In case you don't know how it goes, the melody sounds like this.

[plays melody] The notes of the melody are G#, A, G# F#, E, then we get that again with

2 notes added to to - this C# and this B. Now just in these 2 phrases, we've got enough

to figure out the key.

We've got 6 notes in this melody - just like in our last example, but which one is

the home base?

The root of the key?

Well let's try some of these notes out.

Let's start with this G# - it's the first note of the melody, so it's got to be important,

right?

So this is our G# [hums note] and with the whole melody sounds like this.

[plays melody while humming] Ok - that doesn't sound too bad, but it's probably not a slam

dunk yet.

Let's try the next note in the melody, the A. Here's the A [hums] and with the melody.

Hmm - it's probably not this one.

There's too much in there that just doesn't sound good, so let's move on.

What about the F#. [hums and plays melody] Again, this doesn't really work that well

a lot of the time.

What about the E?

[hums and plays melody] OK - this is something that could work really well.

It works better than all the notes we've done so far, so let's keep that in our back

pocket and do the last 2 notes.

What about this C#?

[hums and plays] It's probably not this one, right?

It just doesn't feel great and we only really get that C# as a passing note - not a really

strong melodic note.

OK, last one - that B.

This is the last note of the phrase and sometimes that can be a clue to the key like it was

for Twinkle Twinkle.

So here's the B. [hums and plays] This actually sounds OK, but to me, it doesn't really

feel like home base.

It doesn't feel 100% stable or at home.

Especially when I compare it to the E we kept in our back pocket before.

[hums and plays] This one feels and sounds way better!

If I was going through and picking the note that sounded like the root to me, I'd definitely

be picking that E.

Now is this in the key of E major or E minor?

This one's a little bit tricky, because at the very start of the song, it sounds darker

and gets brighter as you go through.

By the time you get to the end of the phrase though, it's definitely brighter though,

so this song you can say is in the key of E major.

You could also think of this song as being in the relative minor - C# minor, but that's

getting a bit beyond the scope of what we're talking about in this video.

One common problem with figuring out keys to songs is not knowing for sure whether you've

got it right.

In fact, there are 2 super common mistakes that people make when they're trying to

figure out the key of a song, and there's a simple fix for both of them.

If you want to know the solution, I've shot a free bonus video for you called Key Certainty:

How To Make Sure You've Picked The Right Key and in it, you'll learn exactly what

to do to make sure that you've made the right choice with 100% certainty.

To get it, just follow the link in the description, sign up on that page and I'll send it straight

to your email address.

To recap though, you learned how to use the melody analysis method to figure out the key

of a song.

You learned that this mixed the art and science of music and all you had to do was find which

note of the melody sounded most stable - most 'at home'.

This was most likely going to be the root of whatever key the song is in.

Thanks so much for hanging out today - I really appreciate it.

I'm Luke from Become A Bassist - make sure and follow that link in the description and

I'd love to see you in there as well.

Cheers.

Carmen - Au secours ! Au secours ! (Catfight chorus) - Backing track - Duration: 2:54.

Hey! Hey! What's happening?

Help! Help! Can't you hear? - Help! Help! You soldiers!

It's Carmencita! - No, no, it's not her!

It's Carmencita! It's her! It is, it is, it's her! - No, no, it's not her! Not al all!

She started the fight. Don't listen to them! sir! - Don't listen to them!... Listen to us, sir!

Listen to us! listen to us, sir!

Manuelita said, and repeated loud and clear, that she would buy a donkey that pleased her.

Then Carmencita, mockingly as usual, said: A donkey? What for? A broom will do for you.

Manuelita hit back, and said to her comrade: For a certain ride my donkey will serve you well!

And on that day you can show off in your own right. Two lackeys will follow behind, keeping the flies away from you.

Thereupon they started pulling each other's hair out.

To the devil with all this chatter!

José, take two men with you, and look in there who's causing this commotion.

It's Carmencita! - No, no, it's not her!

It's Carmencita! It's her! It is, it is, it's her! - No, no, it's not her! Not al all!

She started the fight!

Stop! Take these women away from me!

Sir! sir! Don't listen to them!

Sir, listen to us! Listen to us!

Carmencita started the fight! - Manuelita started the fight!

It's Carmencita! - It's Manuelita!

Yes! Yes! Yes! - No! No! No!

She started the fight.

It's Carmencita! - It's Manuelita!
