Avoid Drugs and Surgery for Prostate Issues with Flaxseed

Millions of men face prostate issues, with treatment with drugs and surgery often making
their problems worse.
A new study reveals that simply eating flaxseed may be the best way to improve your symptoms,
and take back control of your health.
A study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food, titled "Efficacy and Safety of a Flaxseed
Hull Extract in the Symptomatic Management of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: A Parallel,
Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Pilot Study," reveals that men who consumed
an extract of flaxseed for swollen prostate (i.e. benign prostatic hyperplasia) saw significant
improvement.
According to the study, The American Urology Association (AUA) Guideline, 2010, defines
benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) as proliferation of smooth muscles and epithelial cells within
the prostatic transition zone.
The typical symptoms include:
rinary frequency Urgency
Nocturia (abnormal frequency of night time urination)
Decreased and intermittent force of stream Sensation of incomplete bladder emptying.
BPH is one of the most widespread health conditions faced by men today, with the incidence rising
to nearly 50% of the male population by the eighth decade of their lives.
Moreover, countries like China and India are now seeing an exponential increase in BPH
diagnoses as they increasingly adopt the Western diet, lifestyle, and medical system.
Current approaches include side effect heavy pharmaceuticals such as alpha adrenergic blockers
and 5 a-reductase inhibitors, as well "gold standard" surgical procedures such as transurethral
resection of the prostate (TURP), which so consistently produces surgery related impairments
that there is an entire syndrome named after these side effects, namely, Transurethral
Resection of the Prostate (TURP) Syndrome.
The human cost in both financial and existential terms is immense.
This is why interest in safe, natural, affordable and effective alternatives is growing, and
why the researchers felt compelled to test the hypothesis that eating flaxseed might
provide an ideal alternative approach.
In the randomized, double-blinded, and placebo-controlled study, three groups of men, aged 45-75, with
newly diagnosed BPH and an American Urological Association Symptom Index (AUASI) score of
‡ 13 , were given either a placebo, or a low or high dose of a lignin-rich flaxseed
hull extract.
More specifically:
"Study treatment consisted of 500 or 1000 mg of extract containing 100 mg (low-dose
active [LDA] group, n = 26) or 200 mg (high-dose active [HDA] group, n = 26) of secoisolariciresinol
diglucoside (SDG), respec- tively.
The placebo (P) group (n = 28) received matching maltodextrin capsules.
Sixty subjects (LDA [n = 19], HDA [n = 20], and P [n = 21]) completed the study as per
the protocol requirements.
Change in the AUASI score within a period of 8 weeks, from baseline to end of treatment,
was assessed."
The promising results were reported as follows:
"In this study, supplementation with the flaxseed hull extract provided greater relief
than placebo in obstructive symptoms of BPH, such as sensation of incomplete bladder emptying,
"stopping and starting" while urinating, weak urinary stream, and "straining while
urinating."
Low and high doses of the flaxseed extract provided statistically significant improvements
in the scores of these obstructive symptoms at week 8 as compared with baseline.
In contrast to this, the placebo group did not show a statistically significant improvement
with respect to these obstructive symptoms."
The treatment group did not see any sign of increased side effects relative to
the placebo group, indicating how remarkably safe flaxseed is versus conventional treatment.
Also, because the placebo group also saw a significant improvement, it is possible that
the strong placebo effect may have overshadowed the real power of the intervention.
We hope that in the future a non-pharmaceutical industry funded study compares flaxseed to
both pharmaceutical and surgical intervention to assess its true power.
Another important observation is that the flaxseed groups saw an increase in free testosterone,
as well as a decrease in the testosterone metabolite DHT, which is known to contribute
to prostate growth both benign and malignant.
The placebo group, on the other hand, saw both an increase in testosterone and DHT.
This also means that aging men, whose testosterone levels often plunge in relation to their estrogen
levels, might experience additional hormonal benefits from eating flaxseed that could contribute
to their overall state of well-being.
Concluding Remarks This study is highly promising for a number
of reasons.
First, flaxseed is a safe, time-tested, and highly nutritious food that has been researched
for a wide range of health benefits.

relieving human suffering from a common disease, is highly compelling.
But there is a deeper reason why flaxseed may work so well.
Our bodies co-evolved with certain foods for hundreds of thousands of years.
Certain foods contains phytocompounds which our bodies have become dependent upon for
self-regulation and homeostasis It is possible that lignins are vitally important, as essential
as vitamins for maintaining optimal health.
Obviously BPH is not caused by a lack of surgery or synthetic chemicals, but it might be true
to say that BPH is caused by the lack of an ideal diet which would include lignin rich
foods like flaxseed.
Cleary, therefore, flaxseed could be considered part of a root cause resolution approach to
BPH, versus looking it as just a palliative "disease management" tool like most of
the approaches within the conventional armamentarium.
We also recently reported on a study which found, in the first study of its kind, that
sesame seed contains as high — if not a higher density — of lignans than flaxseed.
Finally, BPH falls within the category of a condition that involves the abnormal growth
of the very same epithelial tissue that cancer emerges within.
Since flaxseed has been found to prevent and even regress cancerous epithelial growths,
such as breast cancer, it is highly likely that flaxseed consumption may also be the
best insurance policy out there to prevent prostate cancer from developing.

Per conquistare i mercati esteri hanno favorito lo sviluppo delle coltivazioni d' esportazione a scapito dell' autosussistenza, producendo esclusivamente per il mercato estero e non per il consumo locale
Paradossalmente, la fame in Africa non è causata dalla mancanza di risorse, bensì dalla loro esportazione: si esporta la produzione invece di consumarla» (p
76). E tutto quello che si riusciva a guadagnare attraverso l' esportazione è stato destinato a pagare il debito estero, alimentando un circolo vizioso che ha provocato miseria e povertà crescente
QUESTIONE DEMOGRAFICA A ciò si aggiunga un fenomeno demografico singolare. Di solito ogni popolazione passa da una situazione iniziale di alta mortalità e di alta fecondità ad una condizione di scarsa mortalità e bassa fecondità
Nell' Africa subsahariana la mortalità è sì diminuita, ma il tasso di fecondità continua ad essere il più elevato del mondo
Negli anni Sessanta la popolazione africana era circa di 300 milioni, oggi è di 1,2 miliardi, nel 2050, se non intervengono cambiamenti, sarà di circa 2, 5 miliardi
È del tutto evidente che il Continente nero avrebbe bisogno di politiche economiche e sociali orientate alla qualificazione della forza lavoro e di un' adeguata politica del controllo delle nascite
Invece si incentiva la popolazione giovanile locale ad abbandonare i propri Paesi e a continuare a fare più figli trasferendosi in Europa
Non sono profughi (se non in minima parte) che fuggono da guerre, ma in larga parte migranti economici alla ricerca di quelle condizioni di lavoro che non riescono a trovare nel Continente africano a causa delle nefaste politiche economiche neoliberiste che hanno aumentato le diseguaglianze e messo a repentaglio qualsiasi sviluppo interno
Vengono in Europa, non i più poveri, ma quelli disposti persino ad indebitarsi accentando prestiti e crediti offerti dalle Ong (qualche spunto al riguardo a p
39-40), nell' illusione di poter trovare qui quello che non trovano nel loro Paese
Ma l' Europa oggi si trova in grosse difficoltà proprio per quelle stesse politiche economiche e monetarie che hanno sinora condannato l' Africa ad una stagnazione permanente
Le grandi migrazioni, in fondo, oggi danneggiano tanto l' Africa quanto l' Europa e gli unici a guadagnarci sono le élite globaliste, i grandi uomini d' affari, gli speculatori della finanza alla Soros, che dopo aver spremuto l' Africa come un limone si dedicano ora, per dare il colpo di grazia anche all' Europa, al grande business delle Ong

The VaR Problem | Eric Peters Expert View | Real Vision - Duration: 4:18.
When I was a prop trader at Lehman in the early '90s, markets were very volatile then.
And we managed our risk in the way that people managed risk forever, which is essentially
you'd look at your positions, and you'd say, how much would I lose if I were stopped out.
And your boss would ask you, and your boss would tally all of that risk up, and you'd
have a general sense for how much risk you took as a firm.
In 1994, '95, we were introduced to this thing called VaR, Value at Risk, which was new.
Everyone today thinks that that's just the way risk is measured and has always been measured,
and it's just not.
But we took a look at it, try to understand what it was, because management wanted us
to look at our positions through this VaR lens.
And we thought it was just foolish, which it was.
But we also recognized that if you were trying to assess the overall level of risk for a
really large, complex portfolio, it was deeply flawed, but it was probably better than almost
anything else that you had.
Because it's just unrealistic to look at your stop-losses across the whole firm like that
and tally them up.
Fast forward a couple decades at this point.
Every portfolio in the world looks at risk exactly the same way.
They look at risks through the lens of VaR.
Large pension plans, they may just look at the overall vol of their portfolio.
But in essence, everyone in the world is using the same measurement of risk.
And what's incredibly interesting is that not only are they using it to measure their
risk, but they're using it to kind of calibrate their whole portfolio so that as they observe
this thing called VaR or vol for their portfolio, and as it moves lower-- and central banks
have intended to push it lower-- it allows them to take more risk without their portfolio
looking like it's any riskier.
In fact, if they do nothing with their portfolio and vol comes down, it looks like they're
not taking that much risk.
In fact, they may be taking just as much, potentially even more.
And so what's happened is all these portfolios globally have been taking on more and more
risk as the central bank policy has suppressed vol.
And it becomes a reflexive process, because the more risk they take, what are they doing?
They're putting their money into risky assets.
And as they buy those assets, inevitably the volatility of those assets comes down.
It ends up showing a lower vol, or a lower VaR number.
And so, in a sense, the more risk they've taken, the more they've suppressed risk themselves
and suppressed vol.
So it's a reflexive process.
And you don't see that many of those in your career.
I've seen a few of them.
This is clearly one of them.
And so that type of reflexivity, meaning lower vol begetting lower vol, will work in reverse
when vol begins to move higher.
I think right now, vol is-- I think we got a glimpse of it in February, where you had
some really illconstructed Vicks products in the volatility ETF space that blew up dramatically.
That was a reflexive process in a very compressed time horizon.
But that was a reflexive process where higher vol begot higher vol in these indices, and
the ETFs ended up going to zero, effectively, in a matter of a day.
But I think on a much more widespread basis, that's what we will see as we proceed into
this next bear market, into this next recession.
Certainly into this next bear market, where you'll see higher vol levels across asset
classes.
And these are all things that people are very short, both explicitly and implicitly shortfall,
across every asset class.

I went into hearing aids in 1992.
They helped immensely until maybe four or five years ago.
I just started to feel more isolated and
I found myself withdrawing from social groups
and it continued to worsen.
- We were having a dinner party over here
and a very close friend was sitting right next to me
and he said, "Look at Tom at the end of the table.
He's not catching anything we're talking about."
And Tom was trying so hard. I could just see it
and I know it would wear him out.
After they all went home then I said to Tom,
"We're going to have to do something.
We've just got to do something."
And he said, "I agree."
- I was encouraged to get an evaluation
for a cochlear implant.
Getting the Kanso® was a life changer for me.
You know, I felt a lot like a new person.
I once again joined my wife in conversation.
Also, I kind of got my friends back.
I've got to tell you what, I think it
it raised my own feelings about myself
and I felt far more comfortable to
inject myself in social groups.
It's been a return to a life
I knew, but lost, and regained.
I got myself back and my interaction with others back
and I wouldn't trade that for anything.

This is the last episode of AI:UX,
a mini-series focused on 10 guidelines that were created
to assist all those that are involved in the design
and development of AI-based systems, I'm Daria Loi,
and today, I'm giving you a summary of the guidelines
and some recommendations and takeaways from this series.
This series was based around a study
that aimed to identify design guidelines for AI systems.
These guidelines are inspired by the perspective
of people who have of a wide range of backgrounds,
ethnicities, and ages.
These diverse individuals shared with me, their attitudes,
thresholds, and expectations towards AI systems.
In the study, I use qualitative and quantitative tools
to derive key insights to create 10 guidelines.
Among many findings, the study showed
how people's knowledge of AI systems
impacts their understanding of and willingness
to embrace such systems.
I also learned about what I call, the domino
effect of smart things, which occurs when one quickly expands
the number of owned AI devices after successful first
encounters with one AI system.
While people have concerns, they're
also prepared to flex their comfort zones
if there is a high return on investment.
People also want to control AI systems,
and have a preference for efficiency usages.
Finally, while people are open to smart things,
they are less enthusiastic towards
intelligent independent ones.
These guidelines are not set in stone,
but rather, consider them as a practical people-centric
recommendation, designed to spark a healthy debate on how
we create AI systems and the agency
that we should have in that process.
Given that, here are a few questions worth reflecting on.
What level of autonomy and agency should AI systems have?
What level of transparency should be provided?
How should it be delivered?
How should these systems relate to, converse,
and engage with users?
What design attributes may enable effective, accurate,
yet unobtrusive, respectful, intuitive,
and transparent intelligence systems?
What social and behavioral contrasts
should underpin people's interactions with AI?
What ethical considerations should we prioritize?
We all have the moral and ethical responsibility
to engage with how intelligence system futures are being
and will be shaped.
A future enriched and enabled by intelligent yet
trustworthy, ethical systems, require careful implementation
of guidelines, that govern the actions of those in charge
of deciding what to design, how and why,
as well as what data to feed into a given system.
I now, challenge you to actively contribute
to the complex yet exciting task of shaping the present
and future of AI systems.
