Internet Sales Tax | Accounting and Apps - Duration: 7:24.

hey it's patti scharf CPA and co-founder of catching clouds the leader in

e-commerce accounting and today we're going to wrap up our discussion on sales

tax

over the past few days past week or so ever since the US Supreme Court made

their ruling on the sales tax you know South Dakota versus wayfarer you can you

can watch this video here and get more information about that we've been

talking about what the impact is going to be to online sellers we've been going

through questions and answers on some of the biggest concerns about these changes

but I wanted to wrap it up by talking about the the implications in your

accounting systems and what apps you should use and basically talk about how

all that kind of works together because I know a lot of people are brand-new to

this topic they don't even really know where to start so I want to give you a

push in the right direction so let's get started all right so I want to I want to

just talk about the basics so that we're talking about the same thing

so when you take a look at your shopping cart you are are you're now collecting

sales tax you've already registered to get your sales tax license now you're

collecting in these different states and you set up your shopping cart to begin

collecting sales tax okay now what happens is let's say you sell

something for $100 the sales tax where you're collecting this from is 8% so

you've got eight dollars in sales tax I've heard some people online being like

oh well at least with this you know it'll increase all of our sales

just because we're collecting sales tax and that's not really how it works

sales tax is not money that belongs to you it's not a sale it does not go on

your income statement it goes on your balance sheet as a liability so don't

get freaked out by the terminology basically it's just like a credit card

or a loan or anything else this money doesn't belong to you you're collecting

it on behalf of the government you hold on to it until it's time to send it in

to the government okay that's all it is so you have that split up

you've got the liability on your balance sheet you've got your sales on your

income statement okay so how do you get that information into

your books most people are using a tool like Xero or QuickBooks Online it's

going to look something like this ok a lot of people they try to set up a link

between the their shopping cart and your accounting system I would HIGHLY

discourage you from doing that please please watch this video on Shopify even

if you don't sell on Shopify the theory is exactly the same whether you're

selling on Magento we're big commerce or Etsy or eBay or anything else you you

really don't want to be pulling in transaction-by-transaction if you're

selling on Amazon that's really good news for you because there's a tool

called a2x that you can use to help pull that information in cleanly so a lot of

people who are using Xero or QuickBooks Online they'll ask how do you set up the

sales tax codes and things in the accounting system I would say just

forget about that altogether just use a plain old current liability account just

to record all of the sales tax that you've collected from all the different

places you don't need all that detail in there again watch that video that I I

pointed you at and and you'll understand why we don't want to crush your system

all we're trying to do is get a grand total of the sales tax that you have

collected that you need to remit to the various states ok if you are looking for

a blow-by-blow on how we handle the accounting I highly recommend you check

out one of our courses down below we've got accounting for Amazon and accounting

for Shopify each of them is like four and a half hours long and we'll walk you

through the whole process all right so how do you actually file

your sales tax returns you've already registered in all the different states

where you need to collect and you've set up your shopping carts and everything's

being collected you've recorded everything in your accounting system how

do you get that stuff filed this is really really complex stuff I would

highly encourage you to use a tool to help you with this process it's just

going to save you a lot of brain cells okay so the the big players in the

industry right now our tax jar taxa file volara check out any of those you can

check out their websites they've got great blogs with tons of information

about sales tax and all the different states and whatever new is going on so

so definitely check out those two educate yourself about what's going on

keep in mind that even if you use a tool like this it's not going to be a set it

and forget it kind of a situation you need to keep an eye on things and make

sure things are running smoothly because you are the one who's going to be on the

hook if there are any problems in your filings okay all right so when you set

up these applications you're going to be getting information directly a direct

integration with Amazon shopify bigcommerce any of those big ones

there are they may not have integrations with everything that you need so if

you're selling on a smaller platform like house or Wayfarer or Laura or if

you have like business-to-business sales or you have manual orders that aren't

listed in the shopping cart it's you know outside of your normal systems

those applications aren't going to have access to that other information so you

need to make sure that all of your orders are in your application okay

doesn't matter which one you're using so you need to make sure that the

information that's coming in it's being calculated properly and anything that

you have outside of the information is included in there so you've got

everything okay and then what you're going to do is you're going to compare

the sales tax liability in your accounting system to what you're going

to be filing with your your sales tax returns and just make sure that they're

in alignment your a couple of places that you want to keep a close eye on are

things like what eight are they using for their orders if

you're using let's say the shipping date over here you want to make sure using

the shipping date over here because you you just want everything to always be in

alignment okay so now you have your counting and alignment with your sales

tax information you file your sales tax returns once those have been filed with

the state you download a copy you create a bill in your accounting system when

you code it to that sales tax liability account what's going to happen is the

payment against there is going to reduce your liability so then you can start

fresh the following month collect sales tax file your returns pay in the sales

tax recorded in your books done

so I hope this video helped you I it can be a really kind of painful process but

if you set it up right usually really there aren't that many problems with it

and just share with you guys my thoughts and feelings on the event since it

happened yesterday and it's still fresh in my mind. I took some notes while I was there,

and some of them are; people really like the embroidered birdhouses that I did

'There is absolutely unequivocal evidence that they are trying to deceive the U

Today's video is Get Ready with Me in Tokyo.

Yesterday, I was totally foundation-free.

Today, I'm traveling Yokohama with my parents so I'm going to try light travel-look makeup.

Because I dyed my hair pink, I'm also going to show you styling my pink hair.

Now, let's get started!

For skin care, I used PRIMERA's Repair Bean Cica Essence.

I'll now use cushion foundation for base makeup.

I'm going to use SULWHASOO's Sheer Lasting Gel Cushion, color 21p.

It is a mesh-structured cushion foundation and the puff is quite thick.

I'm using the color 21p.

I used very moisturizing cushion until spring but as summer came, I have not been able to find a favorite cushion foundation as my skin is combination type.

This cushion is very light, has a smooth finish, and it's easy to control the amount of the product.

I think I have purchased each and one of SULWHASOO's cushion foundation.

I think this cushion foundation will be my favorite this summer.

Before applying powder, I'll use color corrector.

Some of you may be curious about where my husband is while I'm getting ready.

Thankfully, my husband very considerate so he goes to a cafe and gives me space to film my videos.

My long-time subscribers will know that I resided in the US for 6 years.

I studied and also worked in the US.

I really wanted to spend a lot of time with my parents after I came back to Korea because I didn't get to spend time with them when I was in the states.

But unfortunately, my parents had to move to Japan for their work and then I got married so I couldn't stay with them.

It's been a long time since I've done makeup with joy without rushing.

I'll contour my face with BENEFIT's Hoola Lite.

I'll contour my face lightly.

I've been noticing that applying blush to a wide portion of your face is still a trend in Tokyo.

A lot of Japanese women were wearing that makeup.

Even though I visited Tokyo a lot, I've never tried Midori Sushi nor Ichiran Ramen.

This time, I'm going to try at least one.

I always ate at local restaurants with my parents.

This is transparent Coca-Cola!

It tastes like a mixture of zero Coca-Cola with soda.

It kind of tastes strange.

I used to use dark brown color for my brows but since I dyed my hair, I had to buy a new brow color.

I'm going to use TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL's Kissy Tinted Stick #3 for my brows.

I'll just gently apply the product and blend out with a screw brush.

Now, I'll apply NARS Duo Eyeshadow #Isolde.

I don't know whether it's just me but when I apply eyeliner on my mucosa during summer, it melts and pokes my eyes.

So during summer, I only apply eyeliner on the end of my eyes.

LANEIGE's Jet Curling Mascara

It's my first time to use (DIOR's) hot pink blush thanks to my pink hair!

I'll use BENEFIT's Gold Rush for emphasis.

The final touch is using the same tint stick that I used my brows for my lips.

He's Dan Pena, and here are his top 10 rules for success.

- And to practice success before you're successful.

One of the stories, and I know Peter remembers it.

Before I had any money, I used to go to the Rolls Royce

dealers and sit in the cars and smell the leather,

touch the leather.

In these days, this is 40 years ago,

I went to million dollar houses,

and my wife and I would walk through the house,

and they'd say, "When are your parents getting here, kids?"

No, we are the buyers.

Okay?

And to get used to it.

And that's reason the castle is so effective.

And the reason I stopped giving outside seminars,

is that the success rate is almost five times greater

going to the castle, having a butler wait on you,

dressing, thinking more of yourself.

Because self-esteem is the key to high performance.

If we feel good about ourselves,

and we hang around with people,

the average of the five people that we are mostly around,

is who we turn out to be.

Follow what you're passionate about; what you love.

It's not work if you love what you're doing, okay?

Most people, and I say they're living quiet lives

of desperation, is because they're involved in a business

and/or a job that they don't enjoy,

they're not passionate about.

So if you found something that you're passionate about,

it doesn't matter if you work three hours a day

or 13 hours a day, that's where you start.

And most people aren't there.

Most people have to find that.

But does that look like your group?

No, it doesn't look like your group.

I mean, in no way shape, manner, or form.

You know, maybe if we had a bunch of bunny rabbits

running there.

It's unbelievable.

Again, you are who you hang around with, you know.

And as Oprah Winfrey says,

and which I talk about a lot,

is that you want people with a like mind

that are better than you, smarter than you,

more intelligent than you to get on your bus.

Don't be so concerned

about what you're going to do with those people,

but you want to--

The joint brain is--

there's nothing the joint brain, collective brain,

or brains, can't overcome.

And I give the example of the atomic bomb,

Manhattan Project, and they were put together,

and they were told we need to develop a weapon

of mass destruction, which they didn't call it that

back in those days, in the middle 40s.

To end the war in the Pacific.

And they did.

They didn't know if it was implode or explode,

but they did.

But if you're team doesn't look like that,

then you should;

I won't say you should give serious thought,

you should just (beep) change.

Perfection equals paralysis.

- Okay, so you can never make a perfect decision.

- No, no.

If you left it to engineers,

no car would ever come off the assembly line.

- (laughing)

- No car would ever come off the assembly line.

And I've been in business with enough engineers,

I can attest to that with my hand on my heart.

They'd still be trying to make it better.

And internet business is very much the same.

The internet kids want to test and test, and test.

And they want the landing page to be this--

Roll it out.

The great thing about the internet

is your results are instantaneous.

- And you can make changes

instantaneously. - Correct.

I mean, if something that I'm overseeing

at the Concorde level, at 60,000 feet,

doesn't work in two days

(beep) can it.

Forget about it; move on.

And today at our meeting,

now the young kids are,

"We ran it three days sir, and we closed it down."

And they are thinking I'm going to ask why.

I said no, that's fine.

Next.

Because without them making mistakes,

and without them being allowed to make the decision,

they never get any better.

And 95% of the time I know probably better than they do,

but we're never going to be able to know everything,

or have them know everything unless--

And they will never know everything,

unless they make mistakes,

and get comfortable with making mistakes.

Clausewitz, the famous Prussian general,

said to focus on the few not the many.

And the most common error that I see in successful,

reasonably successful businessmen and women,

are that they try to do too many things.

And focus on the few, not the many.

Most of you lack the skills

to sell your vision with clarity,

because you don't practice ...

And the travesty really

is because you don't believe enough in it.

You just don't.

And if what you're trying to finance isn't your dream,

isn't your vision, I mean the banker,

or the person on the other side of the table

sees through it clearly.

They know just absolutely, definitively.

Because at the end of the day,

they want to feel down deep inside, warm and fuzzy,

that this person or this person,

will do whatever it takes to pay me back the money.

And if you don't believe with all your heart,

then you're not going to, you know, go that extra mile.

That's what they want to believe.

And most of you don't believe passionately

in what you're doing.

And that's why it's very easy for me to say

you ought to turn the damn key.

Just walk away.

And look for something that you can passionately believe in.

Is that so difficult?

Another one of my great influences is Toyota,

Toyota automobile.

He wrote a book a book called "The Toyota Way",

and he said, "Constant, supervised stress.

Constant, supervised,"--

Actually I think he used the word organized, stress,

- What does that mean?

- It means keep people accountable.

Just like Peter Sage says, keep people--

what gets measured gets accomplished.

And I have signs in most of the businesses

I'm involved in.

When you walk in the door,

there's a big thing about as big as that painting there.

What gets measured gets accomplished.

- Right.

- Without measurement you're just fooling yourself.

- Okay, the question is, do you,

the person asking the question,

have what it takes to do what Dan did?

And ...

You never know.

But no one does know initially, up front.

You have to try.

You have to swing at the plate.

You have to take risk.

You have to be willing to sacrifice.

You have to be willing to make a commitment.

And just (beep) do it.

I keep saying that.

I mean, it's simplistic.

It sounds like,

I haven't thought the question through,

but that's not the point at all.

The point is, after 21 years of coaching

and after almost 45 years of doing this myself,

and being a high performance person for six decades

I realize you just got to (beep) do it.

But I'm high on life.

- Okay.

- Okay, and that became popular in the 60s

when everybody was doing LSD, okay.

But I'm high on life.

I always have been high on life.

I've got a lot of energy.

I've the same energy I have today as I did 30 years ago.

- Are you naturally a positive person.

- I'm 100% positive.

The most contagious thing in the world

isn't a positive action, it's a negative thought.

- Hmm.

- A negative thought.

And because that can grow geometrically,

and kill deals, and even companies for that matter.

And so, but I'm extremely positive.

And I tell people, one of the things that you need to do,

and I'm stealing my thunder,

is you need to be ore selfish.

- Me? - You.

As an individual.

- Jesus, all right.

I'm not being selfish enough?

- No, no, no, nobody is.

- Okay.

- Because you can't love somebody,

or love what you're doing unless you love yourself.

And most people,

and I've got a whole section on this,

when they look in the mirror Brian,

they don't like what they see.

I'm bald, I'm too wrinkled, my tits are too small,

my tits are too big, my ass is too this, (groaning).

I've got, what do you call when you've got, acne.

I've got this, you know.

My shoulders aren't wide enough, you know.

Nobody, not nobody, but many people don't like

what they see when they look in the mirror.

- So you get them to be more selfish,

and to like themselves more.

- Yeah. No love.

The Plan of Salvation - Duration: 4:19.

The atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ has been called the "most transcendent of all

events from creation's dawn to the endless ages of eternity."

That sacrifice is the central message of all the prophets.

In the memorable words of Eliza R. Snow:

His precious blood he freely spilt; His life he freely gave,

A sinless sacrifice for guilt, A dying world to save.

That sacrifice—the Atonement of Jesus Christ—is at the center of the plan of salvation.

Learning to endure times of disappointment, suffering, and sorrow is part of our on-the-job

training.

These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are precisely the kinds

of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character, and increase our compassion

for others.

Because Jesus Christ suffered greatly, He understands our suffering.

He understands our grief.

We experience hard things so that we too may have increased compassion and understanding

for others.

The prophet Lehi taught a principle for spiritual survival.

First, consider his circumstances: He had been persecuted for preaching truth in Jerusalem

and had been commanded by the Lord to leave his possessions and flee with his family into

the wilderness.

He had lived in a tent and survived on what food could be found on the way to an unknown

destination, and he had watched two of his sons, Laman and Lemuel, rebel against the

Of all the words he could have used to describe the nature and purpose of our lives here in

mortality, he chose the word joy!

It is the celestial glory which we seek.

It is in the presence of God we desire to dwell.

It is a forever family in which we want membership.

Such blessings are earned through a lifetime of striving, seeking, repenting, and finally

succeeding.

Our Heavenly Father rejoices for those who keep His commandments.

He is concerned also for the lost child, the tardy teenager, the wayward youth, the delinquent

parent.

Tenderly the Master speaks to these and indeed to all: "Come back.

Come up.

Come in.

Come home.

Come unto me."

As His special witness, I testify to you that He lives and that He awaits our triumphant

return.

The Final Judgment is not just an evaluation of a sum total of good and evil acts—what

we have done.

It is an acknowledgment of the final effect of our acts and thoughts—what we have become.

It is not enough for anyone just to go through the motions.

The commandments, ordinances, and covenants of the gospel are not a list of deposits required

to be made in some heavenly account.

De grosses entreprises sont déjà intéressées. Dévoilée en avril dernier, la feuille de route pour l'économie circulaire du gouvernement prévoit 100 % de recyclage des plastiques en 2025

Pourtant, avec un score actuel de 22,2%, la France est pour l'instant loin du compte

Pour améliorer ces performances qui classent le pays parmi les plus mauvais élèves européen, l'invention de Saif Eddine Laalej, un marocain de 20 ans, pourrait être la solution

Cet étudiant de l'École nationale de commerce et de gestion de Tanger a conçu un pavé écologique, Paveco, composé  80% de déchets en plastique tels que les bouteilles, les boîtes ou encore les bouchons, rapporte Le Figaro

we're in Tainan, Taiwan this place is a street food paradise and today we're

going on a huge hunt to find the best noodles that Tainan has to offer

Tainan is a noodle paradise we're food hunting here to bring you the best and

most unique bowls of noodles you've ever seen, watch out for the freshest squid

noodles,Tainan's famous Danzai noodles, noodles made entirely out of fish and

the only bowl of noodles we've eaten that could kill us, get ready for some

mouth-watering food

I'm Thomas and I'm Sheena and we're Chasing a Plate, we hope

you're hungry, let's eat!

first stop is for a bowl of squid and rice noodle soup and check out the line

behind me there are so many people in the queue so let's go and join them

we've got our bowl of rice noodle squid soup and look at it, it looks so good now

this looks super simple as well just a clear broth, a little bit of celery, some

blanched or boiled squid on top, nice big chunks of that and a round rice noodle

this place is ridiculously busy there are so many people lined up and we got

here right when it opened and the queue was probably already 30 or 40 people at

that point, just gonna try a little bit of this clear broth to start

really simple doesn't have much squid flavor I was expecting a squid flavor

it's quite sweet it's got a little taste of that celery that they've put on the top

really, really simple, let's just go for, actually what there is

here is some sauces so we've got two sauces I think this might be a chilli

sauce by the looks of it quite thick and probably just a soy so let's put those

in and dunk this squid in those, I'll get a whole lot of chilli sauce

squid and some noodles

it's like a fermented chilli sauce maybe a fermented bean in there that's really

good, the squid's actually a little bit chewy

I was expecting it to be much softer and more tender but it's got a lot of bite

and chew to it but it's still really easy to eat

I've got to go for just noodles cause they're an awesome texture these rice noodles you get a lot

of them too, look at that, covered in that clean broth

super simple again it's covered in that sort of sweet broth but they're not

super gluggy from being in that broth so they're sitting in that giant wok just

wallowing in all the soup but they're not super gluggy and overcooked it's

really nice, but this is the first dish of the day

super simple, great way to start, I think from here it's definitely on to more bold

flavours though

this Tainan noodle hunt continues and next up we're having one of Tainan's

most famous noodles these are Danzai, noodles we're gonna grab them right over

there

check out this beautiful bowl of Danzai noodles it's made up of a tonne of

different ingredients so let me talk you through what we've got so we've got some

noodles hiding down the bottom there they're swimming in a beautiful prawn

head broth, there's some minced pork, minced braised pork on the top there some

poached shrimp, a meatball, an iron egg and then tonnes of coriander and this dish

is called Danzai noodles which translates to Peddlers Pole noodles and it has

a bit of a history so it was invented by a fisherman in 1895 and he needed to

make some money during the typhoon season when he couldn't go out to fish

and so he peddled these noodles and he used to walk around the temples of

Tainan and he would carry the ingredients in two buckets suspended on a

pole along his shoulders and that's how they became known as Peddler's Pole noodles

but let's get eating this bowl of noodles looks really incredible so I'm

gonna get some of those noodles, bit of that minced pork hopefully will stick

onto them, all right, oh I've got some bean sprouts too

mmmmmm

ohhh

those noodles are the perfect texture

still have a bit of bite, they're a wheat noodles and

there's a crunch from those beansprouts I'm gonna get some of that minced pork

and that broth, because the flavour of the broth stuck to the noodles a bit

and ohhhhh it was really good

ohhhhh man

there is so much flavour in that broth, it's really intense so what they do is

they stew prawn heads for hours and hours and make it into this stock and it's got

a really sweet seafood flavour, I want to get into this iron egg, so iron eggs are a

Taiwanese specialty and what they do is they take and egg and then they stew it

in heaps of spices and soy and then they air dry it and then it becomes like

shrunken and almost chewy so let's just give it a taste

mmmm it's got a really intense egg flavour and you can sort of taste the herbs and

the spices that it's been stewing in and the white here is quite chewy

and quite springy, it's got a lot of texture, I'm gonna go for some more of

these noodles actually get more of that minced pork on there, alright

mmm, hmm and some of this prawn as well, mmmm

oh this is such an epic bowl it's like one big bowl of flavour there is so much

texture going on as well so that chewy iron egg, that poached prawn is really

crisp still, crunch of the bea sprouts and the freshness of the coriander and

those noodles just sort of slurp right up but the hero of the dish is that broth it is

so infused with that prawn head flavour and it just like binds everything

together and just creates this epic bowl of deliciousness

I'm really excited about the next bowl of noodles, the noodles themselves are

made out of fish so let's go and get a bowl

I've got my bowl of fish noodles in front of me and they look so interesting so the

noodles here these beige-y grey coloured noodles are actually made out of fish paste

which is so interesting and she put them together or put the dish together

pretty quickly she just popped a bunch of noodles into a strainer together

with some minced pork, added some lettuce and gave it a quick toss in a big pot

of broth so that it warmed through and cooked very quickly, popped it into a bowl and

then topped it with a bit of pepper, some seaweed and then also a dribble of

braised pork belly sauce, so voila and oh my gosh, I'm just gonna mix it up

a bit and then just give those noodles a go

mmmmm

whoa

they don't have a very strong fish flavour

but the texture, they're almost crunchy

they have a really, sort of the consistency or texture of like a very stiff pasta and there's a lot of chew

so interesting, all right so the first few bites of the fish noodles didn't have a

strong fish flavour but the aftertaste is seafood it's fish so let's go for

another bite

mmmm

all right, so the more I eat, the stronger the fish flavour and the pork flavour is also quite

prominent, the lettuce is really great because it adds a bit of crunch it's

fresh, and then you've got that seaweed flavour on top of that, mmmh it's such an interesting unique

dish

there's this big tub of sort of chilli paste or chilli oil on the table so

I'm gonna dump a whole lot on these noodles and give them a go we'll just

mix that in a bit so you can see all the lettuce, the bits of pork

let's get those noodles covered oh yeah oh yeah

mmmm

oh, mmmm

oh that is good that's really spicy, really good chilli, chilli heat a little

bit tangy, the noodles are an amazing texture, like Sheena said they're

they're kind of like crunchy almost really good and then I love the little

bursts of um lettuce particularly with that, that chilli, the lettuce just

freshened it all up, whoa that's getting hotter, that is good, that is

really good chilli

next up we're hunting down some more noodles and I am very

excited about these ones and I'm excited because they've got eel in them and I

absolutely love eel

we've got these eel noodles and they look great so we've got two versions, the dry

version with the eels and egg noodles some onion and I think some chives or

spring onion and then a wet version as well so the wet version is the same

except it's swimming in this sticky potato starch sort of soup or broth and

these eels are pretty amazing because they're very bloody, they're swamp eels

and they're absolutely covered in blood as you can see up the front there

they're just shining, they're bright red and the eel blood is actually toxic to

humans so you've got to be careful with this stuff and they've gotta be cooked

properly otherwise, big trouble for me, so these are all prepared, he scrapes that

blood off you see him cutting the eel up into

smaller pieces and then it's very simply he throws together the onions the

eel, those um spring onions, big chunks of garlic which he crushes onto his

cutting board with his cleaver and then dumps it all in the wok just like that

and then frys it up really quickly with a lot of heat and this is the end result so

obviously the soupy one has the soup added and the dry one as is so I'm gonna

go for the dry one first cause this really really excites me

I just, this dish looks insane

Oh, mmmm, oh that eel

ohhhh

the eel is a really, really interesting texture

it's almost a little bit crunchy and has a little bit of a slimy feel to it

it's got a great freshness to it though, it's really nice, the dish overall

isn't massively bursting in flavour though I mean the, the onions

obviously taste sort of sweet, they're still a little bit crunchy there is some white

pepper here so I'm gonna douse a bit of that all over the dish if I can get it

out of this container there we go, douse a bit of that on, let's grab another big

piece of eel and then get some more of those noodles

mmmm, mmmm

that dish is incredible, that pepper added a slight little peppery twang but the eel

itself is the hero, I love that, noodles just taste like noodles

everything else just tastes like what you'd expect and that eel, you can taste it

delicate flavour, beautiful texture sort of a little bit crunchy like I said but sort of a fish

flavour oh that is good

now let's grab some of these soupy ones actually

you know what let's just taste this soup by itself see what the flavour is

like in that

oh it's really sweet mmm really sweet, a little bit sticky in

texture, very sweet and then tasted like the onions actually, let's just get some

noodles then, big bit of eel in there ohhhh and they're

just covered in that soup, clinging to the noodles

mmm, mmmm

really, really similar except that one's really sweet, a sweetness from the soup

Oh which one's better? Both super good I think this one needs a bit of the pepper as well

so let's just douse that in the pepper, give it a mix up, another piece of eel

oh yea I love how the eel really

holds together so you can see you grab it with your chopsticks, it doesn't just fall apart which is really nice

oh man

these are good, these are really, really good

a real specialty in this town and I can see why, they're unbelievably tasty

I like the look of this gloopy wet eel dish, all right, got a piece of eel and a heap load of noodles

mmmm, mmm

the soup is really sweet, the noodles very

tender, quite rich tasting and that eel it's just so melt in your mouth, it is

a little bit slimy like Thomas's says, I expected it to be a little bit more

meaty so like fish in texture but it's not it is like a little bit

slimy but it's really flavoursome, it's almost got like a little bit of um charred-ness from being in

that big wok and having that heat directly on it, that's really tasty

what a day of noodle eating, unreal so good, what were your favourites? I would

have to go with the Danzai noodles the second noodles that we

had, the broth was just insanely flavoursome, I liked those eel ones the dry

version just then, very simple but so good and really smoky from the wok like

all that cooking from that wok, the smoke, the fire had imparted itself

Los 18 participantes ­que tomarán parte en la salida de la regata conmemorativa del 50 aniversario de la primera circunnavegación del globo, la Sunday Times Golden Globe Race 1968-69, tendrán que recorrer unas 30

000 millas náuticas (55.000 kilómetros) en solitario alrededor mundo, sin escalas, ni asistencia

 Al igual que los navegantes de otra época, los participantes en esta edición tendrán que utilizar el sextante para obtener su posición en el mar

No tendrán piloto automático, ni podrán llevar a bordo ningún instrumento electrónico con el que beneficiarse de la asistencia a la navegación disponible hoy

Actualmente, es posible dar la vuelta al mundo en solitario en menos de 80 días, pero se estima que los participantes en la regata pasarán alrededor de 300 días en alta mar, enfrentándose a sí mismos y a los demás

Solo, como medida de seguridad, cada barco llevará un GPS para, desde tierra, conocer su posición en todo momento

 El desafío ha generado una gran expectación. La sola idea de una regata en solitario, sin el uso de la tecnología actual, combinado el arte de la navegación y la destreza del navegante con la habilidad y la determinación para llegar a la meta, es suficiente para entender el interés que ha suscitado la competición

 El aventurero australiano Don McIntyre, promotor de esta edición declaraba que "El objetivo primordial es una carrera donde la aventura tiene prioridad sobre ganar a toda costa; donde predomine la habilidad de navegar vela y la náutica tradicional, en lugar de la tecnología moderna y el apoyo exterior, y en donde el logro realmente pertenece al patrón"

McIntyre es un navegante con mucha experiencia, un enamorado de esta gesta que pretende darle continuidad con futuras ediciones cada cuatro años  En la primera edición de la Golden Globe, en 1968, nueve patrones tomaron parte en la salida desde Falmouth, al sur de Inglaterra, pero solo uno de ellos, Robin Knox Johnston, a bordo del Suhaili, logró cruzar la línea de meta después de 312 días

La Sunday Times Golden Globe rápidamente se convirtió en leyenda, con sus triunfos y sus tragedias y el épico esfuerzo de los participantes de hacer frente a lo desconocido

La media de edad es de 47 años y la participante más joven es la británica Susie Goodall, con 28 años

El navegante más veterano es el navegante solitario francés Jean Luc van Den Heede con 72

Como anécdota señalar que el participante de la India, Abhilash Tomy, lo hará a bordo de una réplica del Suhaili de Robin John-Knoxton, el Thuriya

 Los participantes están limitados a navegar con barcos de producción en serie entre 32 y 36 pies (9,75 – 10

90 Thambar f2,2 - the legendary Bokeh Queen revisited - Duration: 4:01.

Dan Tamarkin here from Tamarkin Camera in downtown Chicago to show you one of

Leica's new lenses, the 90 millimeter Thambar F2.2 Lens. This lens is a

reissue of an earlier model. I'd like to show you how it appears today and then

we'll take a look at the vintage model as well and we'll see them side-by-side.

So, as per usual, Leica's packaging is gorgeous and here is our Thambar Lens in

what's called the jewel presentation box.

Voila, you have your leather case, you have a little filter, and I'll show you

this filter in a moment, it's a special soft focus filter, and here's our Thambar

Lens. The Thambar Lens is an F2.2 lens, but when you use the little filter that

comes with it, which has a silver spot in the center of it, the f-stop drop value

drops a little bit and so here is our center spot filter, which is the same

type of filter that was supplied with the original lens. And so the new Thambar,

like all Leica lenses, comes with a metal with a lens cap this one is metal,

with Leica inscribed on it very beautiful, reversible lens shade. This,

unlike the earlier Thambar, is an M-Mount lens, and so here we have the new 90

millimeter F2.2 Thambar. It's beautifully made in a black enamel and

you can see the aperture scales, two different aperture scales, one without

the filter and one with the filter. This is a very solid metal filter that they

made for the Thambar. So here we have the new Thambar Lens

and here is my copy of the Thambar which was rescued from a flood in a basement.

And I have an M-Mount adapter here on my lens. This was made in about nineteen
