ESOcast 167: VLT sees `Oumuamua getting a boost - Duration: 5:44.

In 2017 astronomers discovered `Oumuamua: the first interstellar object in our Solar System.

Now several telescopes, including ESO's Very Large Telescope, have found that it is leaving our Solar System faster than expected.

The first time we discussed it, we were saying:

Oh my god, oh my god. We really need to check and check, and double check and make really sure

because the effect is so small and so subtle that many things could go and screw up your measurements.

After checking and double checking, and cross-checking, the effect was still there!

But astronomers might have already found an intriguing explanation to this observation.

Episode 167: VLT sees `Oumuamua getting a boost

`Oumuamua first came to the attention of astronomers by the end of 2017.

Observatories around the world discovered that the object was a lonely voyager from interstellar space

the first of its kind to be observed.

For the first time we had evidence of an asteroid, an object, that was coming at a very high velocity into our Solar System.

And the velocity was so high that it proved that the object was actually coming from the outside

that it was coming probably from another Solar System, and was just passing into our System.

Astronomers using ESO's Very Large Telescope and other observatories

have shown that this peculiar object is moving faster than the laws of celestial mechanics predict.

A result that caught the scientists by surprise!

We considered different values. One of them is an interaction with some magnetic field.

Or another one would be an interaction with a force going along the trajectory

not really knowing what it would be, just to see if it works.

Or a force that would be an impulse; like a small outburst or something like that.

And all these hypothesis failed.

The most likely explanation for `Oumuamua's odd behaviour is that it is outgassing.

Outgassing occurs when sunlight heats up the surface of an object.

This causes it to vent a plume of gas that acts like a booster rocket.

However, outgassing is a typical behaviour of comets, which now leads astronomers to suggest `Oumuamua is an interstellar comet, rather than an asteroid.

However, `Oumuamua shows no trace of typical cometary features.

The interstellar visitor does not show a characteristic long tail of evaporating material.

It also shows no evidence for a coma, an envelope of gas and dust surrounding most comets.

In terms of the quantity of dust and gas that is released: it's tiny. It is really not much.

But it is very small, so you don't expect a lot of dust.

And still, again, comparing with normal comets it's about right for such a small comet to have so little gas.

Astronomers speculate that perhaps the small dust grains adorning the surface of most comets

eroded during `Oumuamua's journey through interstellar space, with only larger dust grains remaining.

A cloud of these larger particles would not be bright enough to be detected by ESO's VLT.

The true nature of this interstellar nomad may remain a mystery.

`Oumuamua's recently-detected gain in speed makes it unlikely that we will be able to accurately trace its origin.

And as it is getting further away from Earth it becomes too distant for even the best telescopes in the world to observe.

We have never observed a comet like that before. But it's possible.

We have never seen one. So, many differences, many things in common.

So we really need to wait for the next one to start making comparisons.

So the hope is that in the future, with better telescopes, and small telescopes searching the skies for asteroids, we will find more of these objects.

But what we have learned from `Oumuamua surprised us beyond our wildest imagination.

a God of today.

SZEŚĆ LEKÓW Z KUCHENNEGO TŁUSZCZU - Duration: 2:17.

Olej, oliwa z oliwek, smalec - możesz z nich przygotować domowe leki na różne dolegliwości.

Tłuszcz, który wykorzystujesz w kuchni do gotowania, może być bazą domowych mikstur leczniczych. Pamiętaj jednak, by korzystać z tłuszczy dobrej jakości, zwłaszcza gdy robisz lek, który będziesz przyjmować doustnie.

Np. lepszy będzie smalec gęsi niż wieprzowy czy oliwa z oliwek lub olej rzepakowy niż palmowy czy słonecznikowy.

Na ból stawów.Pomaga balsam na bazie gęsiego smalcu. W słoiku umieść ok. 250 g smalcu. Dodaj do niego 30 ml oleju rycynowego (kupisz w aptece).

Dokładnie wymieszaj składniki, mocno potrząsając zakręconym słoiczkiem. Nacieraj balsamem bolący staw (np. kolano, biodro) przez ok. 5 minut tak, by mikstura dobrze się wchłonęła.

Najlepiej robić zabieg wieczorem, przed snem. Wyraźną ulgę możesz poczuć po miesiącu kuracji, ale kontynuuj ją jeszcze przez kolejny miesiąc.

Na zapalenie oskrzeli.Ta mikstura ze smalcu gęsiego może przynieść ulgę w chorobach układu oddechowego, gdy dokucza męczący kaszel. Łyżeczkę smalcu rozpuść w pół szklanki gorącego mleka.

Dodaj łyżeczkę miodu. Pij 1-3 razy dziennie, zwłaszcza przy uporczywym kaszlu.Przy paradontozie, zapaleniu dziąseł

Leczniczo działa płukanie i ssanie oleju. Najlepiej wybrać olej rzepakowy, kokosowy czy słonecznikowy, ale możesz użyć też innego.

Rano, po przebudzeniu, gdy jesteś na czczo, weź do buzi łyżeczkę oleju i przepłukuj nim dziąsła, przepuszczając przez zęby. Następnie wypluj olej. Cały zabieg powinien trwać około 15 minut.

Jeśli w buzi zgromadzi się dużo śliny, wypluj olej i weź drugą porcję. Płukanie powtórz wieczorem.Uwaga, nie połykaj oleju (zawiera bakterie z zębów, dziąseł). Gdy dostanie się do gardła, przepłucz je wodą.

Do usuwania woskowiny powodującej niedosłuch.Do zabiegu potrzebujesz małej strzykawki. Nabierz do niej nieco lekko podgrzanego oleju. Przed lustrem przechyl głowę i zaaplikuj 2-3 krople oleju do ucha.

Wytrzymaj w tej pozycji 3 minuty i przechyl głowę w drugą stronę, by płyn mógł wycieknąć z ucha. Osusz je chusteczką. Powtórz dla drugiego ucha.

Na łuszczycę i AZS.Możesz po prostu kilka razy dziennie delikatnie wcierać oliwę z oliwek w chore, przesuszone miejsca na skórze. Ponadto dodawaj trochę oliwy (np. 1/3 szklanki) do kąpieli.

welcome back we have been sent a new product by Nonna

you might remember previously that we tested the Nonna car charger and vehicle

locator a couple years ago well they thought we might like to try out the

wireless induction charter now wireless charging really didn't take off a whole

lot until Apple just released the iPhone 8 8 plus and 10 which now finally

feature inductive charging and inductive fast charging or at least what Apple

considers fast charging the rest of the world doesn't quaint but I kind of

solidified the Qi or Qi wireless inductive charging standard as pretty

much the standard of choice now so we have a to coil inductive fast charger

and this will this will this is capable of charging at some pretty decent speeds

15 watts although your Apple products are gonna be limited to 7.5 and that's

after firmware or iOS 1.11 point to update now 2 coils how it works

is their arm coils inside the charging stand now most chargers are inductive

charges have a single coil which then means you have to line up your phone

pretty much just just right to get it to work because the further the device is

away the less power is getting to the device and we're not talking a whole lot

of leeway here this one's got 2 coils so no matter where the inductive receiver

is on the device or the phone it'll it'll pretty much reach so we got an

iPhone 8 there and no my screens not correct effect that is the screen

protector another nice thing that known to sends is their power brick now this

isn't a normal power brick it's quite powerful and it is Qualcomm quick charge

three point all compliant so if you have an Android device that supports Qualcomm

quick charge standards you can actually use directly if you need a quick charge

instead of an inductive charge well the inductive charging is

convenient for use the quick charge can get you 50 percent in 20-30 minutes and

that's pretty darn good so you have that option you can either

plug straight into here with your charging cable for a quick charge not

available on Apple products Apple has their own after thing as they usually do

or you can plug it into the back of the inductive charger oh let's see

DC our input five to nine volts 1.8 amp output five to nine volts 1.67 amp not

bad now inductive isn't as efficient as

wired charging that sure is convenient so that's it

plugged it in has a micro USB input on the back so if you want to use your own

cable longer cable for better placement go right ahead and do that so we're

gonna just take my iPhone 8 Oh is charging now unfortunately iPhone 8 or

iOS 11 does not allow us to see actual charging amps any longer so that's you

know somewhat unfortunate there was a light here but that can tell you the

Lightning symbol up there is on and it is charging no way there's a status

light down here that changes colors depending on the status of the charge

obviously owner's manual and put wireless charging mobile phone on pad

excuse me well turn from green to will turn to green from blue and start

charging it shows charging position is improper

when the LED is flashing please move the phone a little bit and the LED keeps

green nice so there you have it now for reference the inductive charging

receiver on the 8 is pretty much right around the Apple logo combines may vary

on Android devices but it seems to work this will be a welcome addition to my

cannot have a metal case on your device metal cases or any metal at all will

block the the the charges

We present the work of Jean-Francois DAUMONT, very characteristic for the second half of the eighteenth century

"Vue General de la Ville de Venise"

[general view of Venice]. It is copperplate painted with watercolors from around 1780.

The engraving depicts Venice during the period of its power.

The Venetian Republic was a merchant republic,

the longest continuously functioning state with a republican system in history,

because it existed from the eighth century to 1797.

The author of this engraving - Daumont (1740 - 1775) was the publisher of optical views,

posters, fleeting prints and decorative playing cards.

Especially his optical views are worth the memories.

These were prints that were viewed in special cameras (called zograskopami

- that is, optical boxes)

they gave the illusion of a certain three-dimensionality and strengthened perspective.

They were extremely popular in the second half of the 18th century.

A beautiful engraving gives an idea of Venice as a wealthy city connected with overseas trade

and full of charm.

In total, beauty has survived to our times.

The subject of this speech is a topic

which has been discovered recently and which may not exist at all.

I may be talking about something that does not exist,

therefore I am free to say everything or nothing.

I, in my stories and novels, often write about counterfeit worlds.

Some are real worlds, as well as deranged private worlds, inhabited often by just one person.

While mean time, the other characters either remain in their own worlds throughout,

or are somehow drawn into one of the peculiar ones.

This theme occurs in the corpus of my 27 years of writing.

At no time did I have a theoretical or conscious explanation

for my preoccupation with these pluriform pseudo worlds.

But now I think I understand.

What I was sensing was the manifold of partially actualized realities,

lying tangent to what evidently is the most actualized one.

The one which the majority of us, by consensus gentium, agree on.

Later that day, back home again, but still deeply under the influence of the sodium pentathol,

I had a short acute flash of recovered memory.

Then in mid march, month later,

the total body of memories, in tact, and entire, began to return.

You are free to believe me, or to disbelieve,

but please take my word on it that I am not joking, this is very serious, a matter of importance.

At that time I had no idea what I was seeing.

It resembled nothing that I had ever heard described.

It resembled plasmic energy, it had colors, it moved fast, it collected and then dispersed.

But what it was, what he was, I am not sure even now.

In other words, it's a common theme in my writing

that a dark haired girl shows up at the door of the protagonist,

and tells him that his world is delusional, that there is something false about it.

Well, this did finally happen to me.

I even knew that her hair would be black.

I had an actual, complete sense of what she would look like, and what she would say.

She did appear, she was a total stranger,

and she did inform me of this fact.

That some of my fictional works were, in a literal sense, true.

I wrote out these dreams in novel after novel, story after story.

To name two in which this prior ugly present obtained most clearly I cite:

The Man in the High Castle, and my 1974 novel about the US as a police state

called Flow My Tears the Police Man Said.

I'm going to be very candid with you,

I wrote both novels based on fragmentary residual memories of such a horrid slave state world.

People claim to remember past lives, I claim to remember a different, very different present life.

I know of no one who has ever made this claim before,

but I rather suspect that my experience is not unique.

What perhaps is unique is that I am willing to talk about.

We are living in a computer programmed reality,

and the only clue we have to it is when some variable is changed

The belief that American settlers were destined to expand across North America was an integral part of American culture in the 19th century

some viewed it as a mission to extend Republican democracy to people's across the continent while others viewed it as God's wish to civilize the

people of American institutions

reunification with Mexico

considered largely second-class citizens within the United States

With many cultural and religious differences between the two

Mexico could possibly fund separate groups within its former land and

Possibly even wage war to take back the land but beyond that it's hard to say
