Tried and tested: Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato prototype heads to the Nürburgring
Aston Martin's intoxicating V12-engined Vanquish isn't dead, yet. It's been around since 2012, meaning its replacement is only a year or two away, but Aston's not letting it go to the grave quietly.
This car was originally believed to be a high-performance 'S' variant, packing aerodynamic upgrades, a sports exhaust system and more power. However, our sources tell us that this car is actually a test mule of the recently revealed limited-edition Vanquish Zagato.
Only 99 will be made (the same applies for the drop-top Volante version), so it's no surprise that Aston's putting in the time and effort to make sure the car's absolutely spot on. How powerful will it be?.
The Vanquish Zagato, first revealed as a concept and then as a production model, packs an upgraded version of Aston's 5. 9-litre V12 – which thunders out 592bhp, up from the standard car's 568bhp.
Part of that power hike is likely down to that larger quad-exit exhaust system.
So what about the next-gen Vanquish?. Aston's Vanquish replacement, which is set to be based on the DB11 underpinnings and feature the reputedly all-new twin-turbo V12, is due in 2018.
The next-gen Vanquish, however, isn't expected to retain the Vanquish name. It's expected to be badged 'DBS', bringing it into line with Aston's 'DB' naming strategy and providing a nod to models past.
Rumours also suggest that the new DBS may be a much more aggressive, focused sports car – with a mooted power output of over 700bhp. It'll still be rear-wheel drive, though, so it should prove as visceral as you might hope. .

First diesel Bentley hits the road: Bentayga TDI spotted
Yup, it's finally happened. Bentley has bowed to pressures from its rivals and customers, and is rolling out its first diesel-engined production car. Naturally, its first application for a high-torque diesel will be the hefty Bentayga, the company's recently launched luxury SUV.
Initially, the car pictured by our spy photographers looks like a regular Bentayga, but a quick plate check with the DVLA reveals its displacement to be 3956cc – and its listed fuel type as diesel. What's the engine, then?.
It's the 40-litre diesel V8 from the Audi SQ7. In the SQ7 it packs twin turbochargers and an electrically driven centrifugal supercharger.
It's a mighty motor, punching out 429bhp and 664lb ft. Bentley's likely to up that output somewhat, to help justify the car's higher price.
This isn't the only element the Bentayga diesel will share with the SQ7; like the regular version, it is also based on the same platform and features the same 48-volt architecture.
There are several potential benefits – lower claimed CO2 emissions, lower fuel consumption, a useful increase in range without boosting the fuel tank size and lots of low-down pulling power. For a large luxury SUV, its an sensible choice of powerplant. .
We know from experience that it's a smooth and muscular-sounding powerplant, too, so – while different in character from the W12 – it shouldn't disappoint.
Has anything else changed?. We can't spot any obvious changes, outside of different exhaust tips.
When will more be announced? . It's expected that more about the diesel-engined Bentley Bentayga will be revealed around the same time as the Paris motor show in October.

What's up, guys?
Today's gonna be the start of a new series,
tech tips that I've used to help you guys out.
We're gonna start off with,
how to quick charge your iPhone.

Welcome back, Young Achiever.
So, nowadays, everything, absolutely everything,
runs off of power, batteries, all that fun stuff.
And, a lot of times, if we're using it
over and over for work or for pleasure,
playing a game, your power goes away,
[snapping fingers] just like that.
So how can we get it faster?
So, what I have here is a regular iPhone charger
and an iPad charger, and there's a big difference, actually.
So, the iPhone charger is rated for five watts.
That's the electricity it's pumping out of the charger.
And on the iPad, it's actually 12 watts,
so that means it's pushing out
more electricity to your power cable,
going into your phone at a higher speed.
What that means, is you have more power faster.
That's all it is.
Now, some of you may ask,
"well, doesn't that hurt my iPhone battery?"
It's a very techie question, it's a good question,
but the answer is, not really.
It does over a long period of time,
but for the average lifetime of your phone,
how long you'll be, hitting my mic, nice.
You're really not gonna do anything to it.
It would take probably five years
to affect it in a very large way,
and by that time, they're gonna be out
with the iPhone, what, 12, something like that?
I have a couple things to back this up, too.
Number one, Apple advertises that
the iPad charger can work with your iPhone,
so Apple already says it works.
They just don't tell you about the Quick Charging idea.
And next time you wanna charge your phone faster,
just flip it into airplane mode.
That takes out all the background applications,
all the WiFi, all the GPS, all those things
that help suck out the battery more,
so your phone can actually charge a higher percentage.
You can even combine this with what I told you earlier.
You can use airplane mode with the iPad charger,
and you get a whole bunch more power.
So try it next time you need to have a quick charge.
So, I know it was a short video,
but I wanted to start off this series
with something that would be useful to all of us.
I need power in my phone a lot.
I use it way too much for work and for pleasure,
so, more power is good for me.
