Southampton star Virgil van Dijk set to leave St Mary's after series of rows with Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal all interested

VIRGIL VAN DIJK has pleaded with Southampton to let him leave this week during a series of rows. The Dutch centre-back wants a move before Thursday's transfer deadline, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal interested in a £60million move.

Virgil van Dijk is poised to leave Southampton in the coming days after a series of rows with the club.

The 26-year-old is being chased by Premier League giants Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. And he has backed up his transfer request by begging club officials face-to-face to let him go.

The discussions at Saints' Staplewood training HQ have involved the 26-year-old furiously putting his point of view across, according to sources at the club. The ex-Celtic defender has trained away from Mauricio Pellegrino's first-team squad during the transfer stand-off.

Van Dijk is desperate to impress at a big club in the season before the World Cup.

Despite standing to make a massive profit on the £11. 5m paid two years ago, Saints chairman Ralph Krueger has insisted Van Dijk is not for sale.

He has thrived at St Marys since leaving Scotland in 2015, and was appointed as club captain after Jose Fonte left to jon West Ham back in January.

The Dutch international is valued at a whopping £60million by the Saints.

The former Celtic star has put in a transfer request as he seeks a move away from St Marys. Despite only 55 Premier League appearances, he established himself as one of the top defenders in the English top-flight.

A fully fledged Dutch international with 12 caps to his name, van Dijk will be hoping for regular football in order to be selected in Dick Advocaats World Cup squad.

He hasnt featured for the south coast side at all this campaign, as he pushes for a move away.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will cost Liverpool £40m plus £1 as North London club set their price - Duration: 3:18.

Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will cost Liverpool £40m plus £1 as North London club set their price

ARSENAL will demand £40million plus £1 from Liverpool for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Reds lead the chase for the England ace, who is yet to commit his future to the Gunners. Arsenal will demand a fee of £40m plus £1 for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has emerged as a top Liverpool target. The Anfield club famously rejected a bid of £40m plus £1 from Arsenal for Luis Suarez in 2013.

But the North London side are now in the driving seat and look ready to assert themselves over their Premier League rivals.

Despite Arsene Wenger saying Oxlade-Chamberlain, 24, was not for sale this summer, Arsenal have had to review their position as a number of contract offers have been met with silence.

Ox told Wenger he was happy to stay and sign a new long-term deal last season. But much like with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, the player has not put pen to paper.

There is an understanding that Oxlade-Chamberlain's representatives have been difficult to work with, and the advice given may be the catalyst behind his change of heart.

Jurgen Klopps Liverpool will need to pay a bizarre price to land Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Liverpool famously rejected Arsenals £40m plus £1 bid for Luis Suarez in 2013.

Arsenal risk losing their top stars, with eight players out of contract next summer and a further nine the following year.

Ox has bags of potential and has shown flashes of brilliance, but has never nailed down his position in the side due to form and injury. England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wants to leave Arsena.

There is a feeling, however, that under new management and with an injury-free run of games, he may reach his potential.

Regardless of that, Arsenal will have to put their business hat on when dealing with Ox between now and the end of the window. Arsenal are desperate to hold onto Oxlade-Chamberlain and will try and convince him to sign a new deal.

But if one cannot be reached they may withdraw him from this weekend's squad to face Liverpool completely, and will open talks with both them and Chelsea.   Arsenal FA Cup win mean would mean better season says Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Liverpool 4–0 Arsenal: Rampant Reds fire four to breeze past the Gunners

Liverpool produced a simply stunning display of football to trash Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield and continue an unbeaten start to the season. Premier League, AnfieldAugust 27, 2017. Goals.

Firmino 17' (assist – Gomez)Mane 40' (assist – Firmino)Salah 57′ (assist – Matip)Sturridge 77' (assist – Salah).

Liverpool returned to Premier League action for a first heavyweight clash of the season against Arsene Wenger's side seeking a fourth consecutive win in all competitions.

Shock news broke pre-match that Simon Mignolet would be dropped – or "rested" in Klopp's words – from the entire matchday squad and Loris Karius would start with Danny Ward on the bench.

And when team news was announced Karius' surprise entrance was confirmed as one of only two changes made by Klopp, who also introduced Joe Gomez for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Goals were expected at Anfield – where the Reds supported the Owen McVeigh Foundation wearing special t-shirts pre-match – with this fixture seeing more goals than any in Premier League history, and it certainly lived to expectation.

The Reds, visibly full of confidence, picked up from where they left off against Hoffenheim, taking the game to the visitors from the first whistle.

However, the first big chance fell Arsenal's way, but Danny Welback blazed into the Kop after being played in by Alexis Sanchez.

Liverpool then should have taken the lead when Emre Can found Mohamed Salah at the back-post, but Petr Cech smothered the Egyptian's effort from three yards out.

The Reds took control of the contest after that chance and soon took a deserved lead through Roberto Firmino, who headed home a great cross from Joe Gomez.

Chances were coming thick and fast for Liverpool and Jordan Henderson had a great opportunity to double the lead two minutes later, but the captain could only poke across goal after being found by Firmino.

All eyes were on the returning Karius, and the German nearly gifted the Gunners an equaliser when he took too long to clear, smashing the ball into the onrushing Welbeck.

Liverpool thought they had a second when Salah, a constant menace on the right, slotted home on 27 minutes, but the flag went up to deny him a second Anfield goal.

But Klopp's side grabbed the second goal their dominance deserved five minutes before half-time, when Mane finished off a devastating counter-attack with a superb curling effort to give the Reds a two-goal lead at the break.

Klopp makes two changes with shock call dropping Mignolet for Karius Firmino heads home fine Gomez cross to put Reds ahead Mane finishes devastating counter-attack to make it 2-0 at half-time Salah runs from inside own half to add a stunning third.

Karius had another nervy moment after the re-start, with Welbeck again coming close to tackling the German who staggeringly did the same a third time on an unconvincing first start since December.

But the one-way traffic continued and Salah could, and should, have made it 3-0 ten minutes into the second half, but Cech made a good save to deny the Reds No. 11 for a second time.

But the excellent Salah did finally find the net when he latched on to Joel Matip's clearing header, ran the length of the pitch and slotted coolly into the bottom corner for a magnificent break-away goal.

After establishing a comfortable three-goal lead, the Reds worked well to keep control of the match and deny the Gunners any route back, while also still retaining a lethal threat in attack.

Mane had a big chance to end the contest once and for all with 20 minutes remaining, but the Senegalese saw his finish hacked off the line as it was heading in.

A fantastic fourth did arrive seven minutes later, when substitute Daniel Sturridge joined the party by heading home Salah's pin-point cross only three minutes after coming on.

With Arsenal by now well and truly beaten, Klopp's men saw out the remaining 13 minutes untroubled to claim a brilliant and thoroughly deserved victory at Anfield.

It was a sensational performance from the Reds, and one which saw a third straight win recorded over Wenger's side for the first time since 1998.
