Biomedical Engineering student prints 3D hand - Duration: 1:00.
18 year old young woman, biomedical engineer.
She connected with 2 junior guys
Within 6 months they 3-D printed this prosthetic hand.
My name is Riley Toll, I'm a freshman in biomedical engineering and i'm from Memphis, TN.
My senior research project in high school was researching 3-D printing and prosthetics
so I already knew about 3-D printing before I came to college.
And with the skills that I learned I was able to 3-D print my own prosthetic hand.
I think that my addition to the makers club is very valuable because obviously they can't
try on the hands and see how it works, so they were able to help teach me to use the
programs to print something like this and size it to me.
Doing this in addition to my regular engineering classes, I think its a really valuable experience
where we are helping others and that's what matters.

bracket this cantilever is probably a

I've always wanted to make a documentary about World War 2,
with my grandfather as main character who joined it.
This has to be a timeless story.
In July 2016 I had already recorded another documentary called "The Longest Day",
from which I took inspiration for this new one called "Time for Change".
BEHIND THE SCENES
PRE-PRODUCTION January/February 2018
When we finished filming "Endless" in July 2017,
Eugenia and I had talked about this new project,
saying that the filming period would be short because it was just an interview.
"At lanch we were given a little portion of soup."
I've always had in mind that in this documentary in addition to the interview,
there was a picture-commentary as well.
But I didn't want to put them in the documentary as extra material.
I really wanted the photos to be there and my grandfather would comment on them.
What I did luckily two years ago though,
was take the pictures, scan and restore them in HD.
PRODUCTION March 2018
It snowed the whole day, according to weather forecast.
Since I couldn't move from home,
in the meantime I went to the attic to find the old pictures of my family.
"Ok. That's good."
And so I filmed this long sequence through a camera slider for the end credits.
A very beautiful sequence showing many memories that,
for the audience can't arouse emotions,
but for our relatives they can.
"How did you manage to build the house?"
"How did you?"
The actual day of filming took place in March.
My assistant Jacopo come and helped me. He took photos and handled the second camera.
My brother filmed the creative process.
"Welcome back. It's March 10 and today we're going to interview Mr. Pieressa."
Regarding Mr. Valter Pieressa, we visited and interviewed him.
But why did I choose him?
Because in September and October 2017,
I was invited to the Festival in Este in province of Padua,
called "United in Diversity" which hosted Este's Twinning Towns Delegations from all over the world.
I made a documentary thanks to which I met Mr. Pieressa, Rijeka (Croatia) Twinning Commitee Referent.
He responded admirably in the sense that he was very sympathetic and concerned.
POST-PRODUCTION March 2018
This documentary is entirely filmed with a 50mm f/1.8 Fixed Camera Lens.
It means more details and because it's a fixed lens there are less lenses,
so, overall, a better quality.
The audio is DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1,
so there's a pureness never heard before.
My grandfather did brief cameos in my films.
Last year he portrayed the President of the Italian Republic.
He appeared in the film "Endless".
A very remarkable day.
For the final music I chose "Schindler's List" Theme. A very beautiful piano composition that I played.
In the end I truly believe that using this score can somehow take you to what happened during World War 2.
