Arsenal's new goalkeeper Bernd Leno has explained how a conversation with manager

Unai Emery persuaded him to seal a transfer to the Gunners this summer.

The German shot-stopper is the club's latest signing after arriving from Bayer Leverkusen,

and looks a hugely promising addition if he is to replace Petr Cech as number one at the

Emirates Stadium.

Leno shone in the Bundesliga and would surely be an upgrade on the over-the-hill Cech and

his unreliable backup David Ospina.

Arsenal fans will be glad to hear then that their new manager Emery was able to lure him

to north London by seemingly assuring him of a key role in the side.

The 26-year-old sounds happy to have completed his move and feels wanted at his new club

after Emery's efforts to talk him into accepting the move.

'I spoke to him and he said to me that he thinks that I'm a good goalkeeper and he

wanted me to come to Arsenal,' Leno told Arsenal Player.

'So for me it was clear that the club and the coach want to sign me so I'm happy that

all people in this club said that I'm a good goalkeeper and wanted to sign me.'

Arsenal have also signed defender Stephan Lichtsteiner this summer as they prepare for

a new era after the departure of long-serving manager Arsene Wenger at the end of the 2017/18

campaign.

WISH & HOPE: What's the difference? - Duration: 7:52.

I have a dream.

I had a dream.

I have a wish.

I have a hope.

I'm going to teach you the difference between two words in English that are confusing, probably

be...

Because in your language, the words are very similar; if not, used the same.

Portuguese, for example.

These words are: "wish" versus "hope".

Dunh-dunh-dunh-dunh.

The challenge is to figure out how they're different.

So, "wish" and "hope" are both verbs, and they're actually both regular verbs, so: "I

wished" and "I hoped".

And they both mean that you want or you desire something.

So, you think: "Wow, okay.

Well, in my language, oh, we use them the same.

Oh, maybe they're a little bit different.

I don't know.

How are they different?"

Let me tell you.

In English, if you can remember this: "wish" is for stars.

So we have a common expression that: "When you wish upon a star".

A star, I don't mean a Hollywood actor or actress; I mean the beautiful twinkly things

in the sky are called stars.

So, we usually wish upon a star.

We think: "Wow.

I wish I had a million, trillion thousand dollars."

Yeah.

And the star goes: "I don't care.

I'm a star.

I can't get you anything."

But the reason why this is a wish is because it's unreal.

You want 10 billion dollars.

Well, guess what?

It's near impossible that you're going to get that, unless you work hard or rob a bank.

If you'd like to rob a bank, please give me some money; just as a little, like, donation

- that would be fine.

"Hope" is for dreamers.

So, do you have a dream?

Maybe you would like to learn English.

You're on the right track.

Maybe your dream is to travel; that's my dream.

Maybe your dream is to achieve your goal.

So, if you can remember this: A "wish" is for a star, which means it's unreal; it's

not going to happen.

And "hope" is for dreamers - this is real; with some effort, you can achieve your goal.

So, "wish" is for stars; "hope" is for dreamers.

And we have another very important function of "wish".

It's grammar, but that's okay; you're good.

We can use "wish" for unreal things that you want, but depending on the verb, it'll tell

us what time period you are talking about.

So, if you wish you had something or you want something right now...

Maybe you are...

Were...

Maybe you're playing basketball and you're watching this lesson.

Let's say you're playing basketball, and you're like: "Wow.

I wish I were taller."

Unfortunately, you cannot be taller just like this.

I think there are pretty invasive surgeries you could have to elongate your legs, but

it's just not going to happen; I'm sorry.

Or maybe you go: "Wow!

I wish I could speak English fluently."

Yeah, me too.

But the only way you could do that is you practice, so that's not unachievable, but

it's near impossible; even for me.

"I wish I had"...

So this is famous, like: "I wish I had 10 million dollars."

Yeah, you don't; sorry.

"I wish I knew".

I wish I knew famous people, then I could go to their house, we could hang out, have

some food, go in their swimming pool.

It'd be fun.

But guess what?

I'm sorry, you don't.

So these things are something that you want now.

We're going to use simple past as a verb, so the structure: Subject "wish", subject,

simple past verb and a noun or an adjective, like "taller".

Okay?

It's something that you want to have now, but you probably won't get it.

Ha-ha.

Dreams are shattered.

If it's something that you thought about in the past, in English we would call it a mistake

or a regret.

So: "mistake" or "regret" means something that you did or didn't do in the past, and

now you think: "Uh-oh.

I..." or "she"; you can use different subjects.

"She wishes...

She wishes she hadn't eaten all of the chocolate", because now her tummy hurts.

So she wishes that in the past she hadn't have done something.

Okay?

With this grammar, you're going to use the past perfect.

Past perfect is either: "had" or "hadn't" plus pp.

"Pp" in English grammar means the past participle.

And the past participle is difficult to learn, but you can do it.

But he didn't.

He bought this car, but he's like: "Oh, damn!

I should have bought the other car."

Sorry, you've made a mistake or you've made a regret.

So, when we use the past perfect with "wish", which is "had" or "hadn't" plus the past participle,

it's a mistake in the past.

So, in English we have present, past, and then future.

When we use future, we're going to use the modal verb "would".

So, I can say: "They wish"-so many people wish-"they would", a base verb and the noun;

something in the future.

Something in the future that they want.

So: "They wish they would go to Spain."

Ah, but they can't.

Okay?

"They wish they would have more food tomorrow", but they can't.

So, depending on what kind of verb we use will depend on how we talk about our wishes.

If we use the simple past, we're talking about something we want now; if we use past perfect,

we're talking about something that happened in the past that is a mistake; and if we talk

about the future, we're going to use "would".

What's your wish?

What's your dream?

Tell me your wish and tell me your hope.

What's something that you hope you can actually do?

Dreams are not unobtainable; you follow your goal and you don't give up.

And make a wish when you're at it; maybe that star will answer you.

jeans my pajamas sweaters then long-sleeve shirts and then my black and

white shirts cuz that's what i wear the most. so then like socks and stuff there

and then my prom dress back there and my jean jacket. And I still got my prom dress cause Im cool :)

Then here are my two newest records. This one's my sister's and I melodrama (the BLUE one),

then i got the singles movie vinyl and then these are all like mine selected

movies and my cassette tapes like I like my TV show series Dawson's Creek

Seinfeld, Gilmore Girls. Behind that I got the Twilight movies and then like some

of my other favorite ones just for when people come over. I got my Pentax camera

there and these are my single records not like the double LPs and then

creams and then perfumes I just got this from the lush it's been a good $13 on it

and I don't know if its gonna work so that's cool!

As thousands of migrant children wait in detention centers after being separated from their families, many have been left to fend for themselves and looking out for those who can't

Specifically, at a U.S. Border Patrol facility in Texas, a 16-year-old girl had to look after a 4-year-old girl she had previously not met, for three days, and was the only one in their cage who knew how to change the toddler's diaper

"She had to teach other kids in the cell to change her diaper," Michelle Brane, director of migrant rights at the Women's Refugee Commission, told the Associated Press on Friday after speaking with the 16-year-old girl at the facility

"She was so traumatized that she wasn't talking. She was just curled up in a little ball," Brane said of the teenager, who has since been reunited with her aunt

"The government is literally taking kids away from their parents and leaving them in inappropriate conditions," Brane said

"If a parent left a child in a cage with no supervision with other 5-year-olds, they'd be held accountable

" In most facilities and shelters, staff members are not allowed to touch the children, according to Dr

Colleen Kraft, the head of the American Academy of Pediatrics, who recently visited a separate shelter in Texas

Kraft told the AP that staff members try to console crying children with books and toys but as a rule, they are not allowed to pick up, hold them or attempt to calm them with hugs

When a parent or family member has been charged with illegal entry, they are taken into U

S. Marshal custody and returned to ICE custody, while their children are turned over to the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)

Previously, most parents had been allowed to remain with their children in family shelters while awaiting asylum cases or deportation proceedings, but as of late, children are removed from their families and sent to separate facilities overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Refugee Resettlement

More than 700 children were taken from adults claiming to be their parents between October and April with "more than 100 children under the age of 4," according to The New York Times

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order reversing his administration's policy of separating children from their parents when they illegally cross at the border

Former waitress Alicia, who is now Jamison's full-time carer, learned of the devastating diagnosis while seven months pregnant

She was initially expecting twins following a battle with fertility issues, but one foetus died in the womb

Learning that the surviving baby might not survive was a difficult blow. , Jamison has defied the odds to make it to his first birthday

But the disease means he must endure a grueling treatment regime which includes bleach baths and a prescription of morphine to help ease the excruciating pain

Alicia said she has also struggled with comments from cruel strangers who called her son 'creepy' - and said she is keen to raise awareness about the little-known condition

The mum-of-three, of Chattaroy, Washington, USA, said: "I had never heard of Harlequin ichthyosis before the doctor took me aside and showed me a text book with pictures of babies with this condition

"They had no faces, no hands, no feet and no fingers and toes. "It was really traumatizing and they recommended that I terminate the pregnancy

"While deciding what to do I was told I'd gone past the point of termination so I had to go full-term

"It was scary, I didn't know what was going to happen with him and the birth was pretty traumatic as well

"I had an emergency c-section because they were concerned that a natural birth would cause tearing of his skin fissures

"I also needed four-and-half blood transfusions and didn't get to meet him for a few days

"I broke down when I saw him - I wanted to hold him and tell him it's going to be OK

I knew he was going to fight." The skin abnormalities associated with harlequin ichthyosis disrupt the skins protective barrier, making it difficult to control water loss, regulate their body temperature, and fight infections

She said: "At first they were a bit scared of him but that quickly changed. "They kept worrying and asking, 'how long have we got left with him?' "We do get comments from strangers and the worst ones are about us being neglectful

"Someone said we were bad parents letting him get so sunburn because his skin is quite red in appearance

"Once a child said that he looked really 'creepy' which was quite upsetting. "It's so rare

Jamison is about 1 in 100 people in U.S. living with this. I really want to do what I can to educate people and advocate for his condition

" Alicia and her family are hoping to raise money to attend a medical conference in Nashville specifically on Harlequin ichthyosis

looked as I walked down the street," Michelle said, claiming that men would routinely cat

call as she walked by.

"As if my body were their property.

As if I were an object to be commented on instead of a full human being with thoughts

It didn't take long for this to backfire on her, as social media users made it clear

that she is far from a sex symbol.
