Youtube daily report Jun 23 2018

I used to think that you were always right.

I used to believe in the truth of your eyes.

I used to think that you could never die.

I used to sing the songs that you played for me.

I used to stay all night up sitting on your seat.

I used to wish that you could still be here.

I've been missing desperately your last embrace.

I've been waiting dangerously for your regret.

I've been lately dying for a single chance.

I'm afraid that I won't ever turn it back.

I cannot set you free.

You're still within my sleep.

I cannot let you go.

You're still under my skin.

I've been missing desperately your last embrace.

I've been waiting dangerously for your regret.

I've been lately dying for a single chance..

I'm afraid that I won't ever turn it back

I'm afraid that I won't ever turn it back.

I just can't get rid of it.

Knicks feeling lucky athletic 'Clint Capela-type' fell to them - Duration: 7:33.

Knicks new 7-foot shotblocking center Mitchell Robinson is a mystery man – and man of few words

Robinson, 20, let Knicks coach David Fizdale and team brass do the hyping for him after becoming their second-round pick at No

36 in Thursday's draft.  At Friday's introductory press conference for Kevin Knox and Robinson, Fizdale even dropped a new comparison – saying Robinson, who has a 7-4 wingspan, possesses Clint Capela-like capabilities

Of course, Robinson must play in an actual game first.  After dropping out of two colleges, he hasn't even played pickup basketball since the Jordan Classic – the premier high-school event – held in April 2017

That was 14 months ago.  It's been an unusual journey, but Knicks general manager Scott Perry thought Robinson was the most athletic player of the 2017 high-school class

Adding to Robinson's mystery is he pulled out of the Draft Combine the day before and never worked out for the Knicks

see also Knicks snag mystery big man in the second round The Knicks selected New Orleans mystery man, 7-foot-1 center Mitchell

"I watched the film – impressive if you watch it and see what Scott (Perry) and those guys saw in him," Fizdale said

"His timing is incredible, has a great motor, super long. He has that instinct that Capela has

If everybody had it, they'd all do it. He was doing it very easily at a young age

Hopefully we can build on that and give him a defined role like a Capela-type of guy

"  The Knicks should have quite the team next season with a Capela-Jayson Tatum tandem

(John Calipari and Fizdale have compared Knox to Tatum).  Despite his unorthodox path, a handful of mock drafts once had him going as one of the last few picks of the first round

NBAdraft.net listed the New Orleans product going 39th to the Lakers.  "We've been talking about Mitchell as a guy that we would be really lucky if he made it to 36," Perry said

Mitchell attended two colleges after high school – Texas A&M before transferring to Western Kentucky, where he dropped out for good

"The decisions were made because I felt I should just focus on basketball to get where I want to be for my career and then just pushing forward," Mitchell said

Without worrying about school, Mitchell dove into training but not playing games

"I didn't really play no pickup games,'' Mitchell said. "I just did straight workouts every day 9 to 5

Every day, all day."  As a senior at Chalmette (La.) High, he recorded 25.7 points, 12

6 rebounds. 6.0 blocks.  "I run the floor pretty well, I block shots," Robinson said

"I feel like I can fit on any team."  Perry said Robinson's choices underscore his love of basketball

Perry became convinced he was a good character person after their interview. While he sounds like a perfect G-League candidate, Perry said not if he proves himself during summer league in Las Vegas in July

"We flew Mitchell in, spent a day getting to know him, talking through dinner, talking about his journey what was important to him, what was challenging to him," Perry said

"We knew just athletically his commitment to being a great basketball player, his desire to grow as a person and a player, he was somebody special

"  Robinson's backstory makes this all the more compelling, says the coach. "The unknown is the fun part about it,'' Fizdale said

"Incredible timing, runs like a deer, has great hands. I did a lot of research on him

Guys like that in the right environment, right coaching staff, right organization, those guys find a way to flourish

"  The question is whether the Knicks are that organization.

Installing Tile, More Roof Rafters & a New Baby Goat | Kitchen & Bathroom Earthbag Add-on Ep13 | WP - Duration: 11:43.

last week Garen prepped the bathroom for for tile, we removed the eave on the side

of the house and installed the first rafters for the earthbag additions to

the main house

🎶

it's heavy

this tile we got many years ago

and now we're putting it to use

what's really cool is that Garen has to

lift this and it's very heavy

and Garen has to haul it and he's very strong

doing it

🎶

final sweep and then we'll start cutting tile

very cool

🎶

it's not bad

better than getting the tile saw out though isn't it

man that things a

beast

this is all the same stuff here

the bigger 18 inch pieces

Dad drew these out

this is where our cabinets and sink are going to be setting

somewhere in here

is where the cabinet will end

I'm thinking I'll do two

here

yeah I'll be able to get a lot done

Garen is a hard worker

he gets in there and gets it done

but this job is

really getting to Garen

he gets the tile on but he doesn't like the way the tile

adhesive is working so he pulls the tiles back off and decides we have to

do something different

seems to be so distracted

yeah

it's kinda odd

he's a hard

worker

he seems a little distracted - true

besides getting married

well, we knew it was gonna happen one day

Garen's growing up

Ellie is just awesome

Ellie and Garen have been around since childhood

he fell for Ellie at a really

young age and they've just been the best of friends for - I think Garen said

nine years

we're engaged

congratulations Ellie and Garen

we're really really happy for the two of you

and we couldn't really ask

for anybody better

so we're so happy that they've decided to

get married and

we wish you guys are the best

it'll be awesome

🎶

all right so let's plan guys?

I am replacing the blade of my saw so that it

cuts naturally

nothing I can really do but wait for them to cut the board

so I don't drop a board on his head

Bryson was slightly

correct

slightly no no no

it was like

sort of, maybe, could be really correct on that

🎶

I need you to make yourself useful instead of ornamental

I do stand around Dad.

that's what they pay me for

you don't get paid much do you?

exactly

🎶

what do you have wrapped around your snozzle there?

he's stuck mom

he can do it

come on

[dog growls]

[laughter]

a little salty huh?

excuse us for helping you

🎶

Ellie had a reunion - a family reunion so Garen went with her there

we're gonna finish up the tile

were not gonna wait around

not us man

get 'er done

one of the things that he was finding difficult is that the floor is

still not real level even though he put the leveler on there so we're

having to build up a lot under each of the tiles

if you use the tile adhesive

- he went through a half a bucket with just two tiles and then, of course, we could

use the thinset to do it too but again. we would have to use a lot of it

so we decided to make her own

pretty much the same mixture as

what we would use on the walls and it's working good

the only thing is that if

we ever wanted to take this tile up, I think, if we use the tile adhesive, my

guess is that it'd be a lot easier to pick up

this is like

cementing it in

yeah

it's like brick

permanently putting the tile in

and the

thing is, is that had Garen laid a couple these down with this stuff,

he'd of really wanted to do this cuz it gets fun once you get it down

so I lucked out that I get to do it

I like to lay tile

I like the ceiling

and the tiles

they look really nice together

we're gonna go out to the farm and see

what the new addition is

a new addition?

oh Bree, are you coming?

yeah

🎶

hi little fella

is it a boy or a girl?

boy

oh my gosh you are adorable

ah, is this Flowers baby?

yeah

Hi

oh yeah

he's nice and strong

look how spotted you are

look at you

Hi Mama

he's been eating too I can feel his belly

look at those ears

that's a good one

that's a good one Flow Flow

did you just have one baby?

kind of weird isn't it?

🎶

nothing but kicks and giggles

how straight are these?

is that pretty straight

are these curves about the same?

we're now getting ready to cut the headers

yeah

all right

for the skylights right?

yeah

okay, thank you

🎶

the next one we are going to need to move the ladder for

🎶

we were supposed to get a giant storm this weekend so we are trying to pull it

together and prepare for all this rain that we're gonna be getting

Bryson is going to re-hook up

our gutter

I'm aware that when duct tape gets wet, it falls apart but I'm thinking that

this is mostly a splash guard

and then hopefully it'll go-

it'll drop into

our barrels

the water likes to rush right in this area here so we're gonna

be hauling some dirt over and mounding up there cuz we don't want to lose our

foundation to our building

yeah that would not be good

especially after the guys have done this

it looks gorgeous

will have to tarp

gotta get some dirt in here

re-hook us gutters

we got all kinds of stuff to do

this is your new roofing

mom

how do you like it?

it's awesome

we actually have this really big tile saw

what's our new way of cutting the tile now?

we're using an angle grinder with a

diamond blade

we've got the piece cut

this blade is epic

but I'm making a glass mess

over here but it's amazing

if we run out of my garage sale tile

it'll go into the closet

everything is garage sale with us isn't it Mom?

Garage sale this

Garage sale that

it's such a savings

two bucks for all this tile

it was

did you see that?

it had a two dollar sign on it

are you serious?

it really was two dollars

doing a thin set

over the top of it was not bad

gives it a nice hard surface and seals the

floor before you put this on

my hope was that we could use the thin set to get

it as flat as we could and then use regular tile mastik

🎶

Tarp's came off because we pulled them off

did they work?

they did

they kept everything pretty dry

we're able to

to get up there now today and even after

a pretty good rain and work so that's great

look how much water we got

the dogs are even drinking out of it

hey would you guys eat the mosquitoes in there too

🎶

I love hand crafting tools

woah

I don't think you could of done such a

custom cut like this

on a big tile saw

just pick up these

you don't need

a big pile saw

custom cuts like this

you got rounded stuff

works perfect

you know us, everything around here is round

here we go

that is perfect

I'm glad it fits

🎶

we're down to our last tile

of the $2 tile that is

we got all the main

area so this is all the area that's gonna be seen

we're gonna put tile there

it just won't be the same type of tile

it will be different tile and that's gonna

be underneath the cabinets so you won't see that

that's cement mixture

that mom used, it's just awesome

what do you think Boo?

[meow]

what?

🎶

and when he gets back he'll go, "oh, that looks so good"

he'll be happy it's done

all right so we got our sheeting for the roof so we'll be doing that next

week here

thank you so much for being a part of our family

we love having you

here and we look forward to seeing you next Friday

have a great week

bye

🎶

🎶

it's not a breeze when there's a breeze?

when there's a wind

if I was doing it a hundred mile an hour wind I wouldn't feel too bad if I fell off

because I probably wouldn't even hit the ground

well where's it at?

tough guy

our family moved from the city to the country

thanks for taking part in

our adventure

we have new videos every Friday evening

if you would like to help

us out, you can like this video, share it, subscribe or support us on patreon

see the links in the description

don't you have all the

rafters up already?

what are you doing now?

everything is already done

we are looking at nothing

you are looking at the finished product?

this is what the kitchen is gonna look like?

oh yeah

all this rain that we're gonna be getting

[knocking]

I just wanted the attention of the camera

ah, success

🎶

International Model Smile Makeover w/ Cosmetic Dental Veneers By Brighter Image Lab - - Duration: 10:41.

I don't know I can't remember how I came across your page honestly

I think it was yes, it was YouTube, I was laid up just searching stuff on youtube

and then some girl says, oh it says affordable teeth, and I'm like oh I have to click this

and then I'm just forward, forward to see what she's going to do, and when I saw that I'm like I have to go on your website

that's how I found out not even through instagram, through youtube

youtube's been good to us then it was so hard for me when I do the fashion week

everyone is laughing and having fun and I'm so self conscious they're just going to look at my teeth

so my goal is to see if I can get you to smile I think there's a part of you that

says I just want to grow my platform or my I think you said followers but you

just have a lot more opportunities to be able to do some things if you weren't

guarded against your smile because everything else is just perfect and then

all the sudden you just get this little limitation and there's no reason for you

to have it you have a whole life to live you know what happens if you had to go

four more years or five more years if you always ask people if you just go

back 24 months how many more people would you have smiled at how many more

people would you I would have talked to a lot of people, especially guys!

yeah like you yeah because you want them to see I never wanted them to, even if someone invited me like, uh-huh.

cause face to face I'm like they're going to stare a my face it's a subconscious thing I think everybody watching this

would agree if there's something holding you back you should be able to get it

past it Definitely but it's just so frickin expensive and I get it fashion is about

being serious I felt like there was something missing in your element

because when I talk to you you feel like you have the spirit that you always want

to laugh and you just don't

People talk to me like you're so friendly you're so outgoing but through your pictures you're just so different

so I thought if I could get this girl to smiling we were just under a real quick

timeline and I really liked the way you said hey I'm here missed what's in you

you need to you need to come back to the table don't discard me and I remember

thinking wow she's pretty serious and once I knew that then we kind of got

engaged in I think he worked with some people from our staff I did I met a lot of amazing people that

helped me through every single thing the process as well as you can tell I had a hard time getting

the fitted right they help me every step out of the way and I like taking their time

and doing this I was more than amazed and that's why I was like you know what

it's worth it for me to be patient even if it takes for a year I want everything

I can do to get you to where smiling is not a problem where you don't think about

it you know we sent you some draft ones your team helped me you send me out the

first veneers I was like in love with it it was perfect they fit tight enough and

just it was I feel like these are made for me

the only thing in the top bottom I mean the top one was like I just felt like they were a little bit big

me yes and so we at the time we thought they can't be look at the impression and

then when you said I want to try again I said your another impression it made

it real clear that we'd actually kind of moved the gum line and so we gave us

more opportunity to be aggressive you haven't seen the last ones yet so let's

get started let's get some new ones everybody's gonna ask but I don't think

they doubt that you ever seen it's gonna take a little bit to get used to

Oh I'm dying forget about everyone else

It's going to take a little bit to get used to the

adjusted these They are so much smaller these are glazed this is a new shade that we have introduced it's

a translucent white and it's got a new coating on it that makes it gloss like

it's like lip gloss but your teeth always look wet I think these are so

I'm like give it to me! I think you can tell these are so

much smaller than the ones I've seen before Oh yes this is yours

Oh my God they look great

I'm gonna get your mirror in just a second hold on one second I can tell

that because my lip is not up

they're gonna set down a little bit more and I next few days Yes! let's try the

bottoms that way you can push more on them

They look amazing from here

I honestly love them!

they feel smaller They do definitely My lip is not like out here I just have to get used to when I speak That's it you've had spaces between

your teeth your whole life I did even I had braces when I was in high school so you've never been able to have a conversation

where everybody sees you as just straight teeth Never, I'm always looking down or just playing with my hair. they look so freakin good

like it takes a little bit for them to get used to and your jobs to find flaw

anything cause you're a perfectionist anybody sees her would go wow she's so put

together it's exactly and then look at your.. They are really beautiful, I really love it how it fits my face like so much smaller I feel like I can talk much much better

Yes the impression is incredibly important do you agree I think they are so worth it for everyone to invest in

I honestly think I just wish I knew 10 years back and you didn't have to grind your teeth

you didn't have to pay thousands I'm sure All that pain.. you went to the dentist?

I did they actually said it would cost at least $10,000.

Are you going to live, are you going to eat? Or just smile and say I spent all my money on getting new teeth.

And be in debt. It's just not worth it like I'm sure it's tough It's sad cause there's a lot of people who can't afford The average person cannot afford it

only about 4% of people who are looking into

getting their teeth what's called dental restoration actually get it done and

they just don't do it some of them I definitely someone has to go to NBC where

you know people can you know I feel like enough world doesn't know about you and what you do

and you don't just sell something you actually put hands and you go and help the customer it's not just like

oh let me just have her money and give her or whatever I think you can tell we

worked hard to get yours done I know pretty challenging because of the way they

gapped down a little down but if you didn't if we didn't work together the

only choice you would have had was to grind your teeth Definitely I love it. I'm not going to stop looking at myself now. well it's just that

you've trained yourself not to let your lips go up yeah and that's why now it's

like now I have to turn back myself to smile like it's okay You can smile no one is looking at you Now that's what I have to get used to I still feel like

I still feel like oh my god you're staring at me I'm staring at you now

because 15-20 years God knows how long I didn't a smile I'm hoping that you'll use

it as a tool to have a voice to do stuff it's closer not just clothes makeup hair

and things that you're passionate about and go out there and not be so

scared straight up just go right exactly but you're a strong person

you realize you ran over me you're like hey dude I get that a lot I'm so tiny but I tell someone like, no.

If something is wrong or something is unprofessional I like to stop them

I like the way you say that. Because I feel like I grew up enough here to know what's right and what's wrong.

where I come from it depends on who you are as big a following as you have as many pictures as

you post hundreds of thousands of people and you don't smile at guys because

you're afraid they're gonna judge you Your teeth look so freaking good thank you thanks to you you're the genius behind it

you're just a happier person you if anyone ever wants to know what

you really like I can tell you that I think you're a lot more happy than you

are serious even though you've done really good at carrying yourself I was

very glad that you work with me you always have to have motivated people on

both sides and we're always looking for people we can make the change with I

think today we've made a big change Don't you think? Definitely

Definitely Yeah we made a change You made

a girl who never smiled to pretty much my whole life to like the biggest smile

I mean that's like forget about giving her money or anything

that means more to her than anything else it's uh you can give it better you can

thank people with your smile You don't even have to talk, just by smiling you can make someone else smile

Yeah and you know. We're going to end it there, We'll

Episode 1151 | Students Take Center Stage to Give Their Take on Fixing the State's Education System - Duration: 16:24.

>> HERE ON NEW MEXICO INFOCUS WE TALK A LOT ABOUT EDUCATION.

EVERYONE WANTS THE STATE'S EDUCATION SYSTEM TO BE BETTER

CERTAINLY BUT WHAT DOES THAT REALLY MEAN?

LAST YEAR WE TEAMED UP WITH KUNM AND GENERATION JUSTICE TO

ASK STUDENTS IN ALBUQUERQUE ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES IN

SCHOOL.

YOU CAN FIND THE FULL REPORT ON THE WEBSITE,

NEWMEXICOINFOCUS.ORG AND WE RECENTLY BROUGHT IN STUDENTS

FROM WORKING CLASSROOMS, A LOCAL ORGANIZATION THAT

PROVIDES TRAINING TO YOUNG ARTISTS, ACTORS AND MEDIA

MAKERS INTO THE STUDIO TO TALK ABOUT JOURNALISM AND THE

EDUCATION SYSTEM.

THEY STARTED WITH THIS QUESTION, WHAT WOULD MAKE YOUR

EXPERIENCE IN SCHOOL BETTER?

>> HERE IS A SAMPLE OF THOSE CONVERSATIONS.

>> WHAT WOULD MAKE MY EXPERIENCE AT SCHOOL BETTER,

WOULD PROBABLY JUST HAVE MORE -- FOCUS MORE ON THE

INDIVIDUAL STUDENT AND WHAT THAT INDIVIDUAL STUDENT WANTS.

AND JUST SEE WHAT INTERESTS THAT STUDENT HAS, WHAT THAT

STUDENT IS EXCELLING AT AND WHAT THEY NEED MORE HELP IN

AND NOT GO WITH THE LINEAR SYSTEM.

>> I FEEL THAT A CHANGE IN FOOD, CONTENT AND COMMUNITY

INVOLVEMENT IN SCHOOL WOULD BE THE BEST OPTIONS BECAUSE OUR

SOCIETY IS VERY MONOCULTURE.

WE WANT TO GROW A CERTAIN AMOUNT IN A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF

TIME TO BE ABLE TO MAKE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MONEY.

WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO, LIKE, BULK MANUFACTURE AND JUST LIKE

COOKIE CUT EVERYTHING SO THAT WE CAN MAKE DOUGH.

OVERALL THE CONTENT IN SCHOOLS, I FEEL IT IS LACKING

IN REAL WORLD APPLICATIONS, NOT SO MUCH AS IN ACTUALLY

USING THE INFORMATION BUT THE WAY THEY TEACH IT TO ONLY BE

USED FOR MONEY AND NOT TO JUST SIMPLY DO THE PROCESSES, TO

ENSURE SURVIVAL.

>> CAN YOU ELABORATE MORE ON THE CLASSES WE NEED FOR LIKE

SURVIVAL?

>> I FEEL LIKE THAT AS CHILDREN IF WE LEARNED HOW TO

CULTIVATE OUR FOOD AND NOT MONOCULTURE AND SAY LIKE A

FIELD OF CORN, ONLY THAT, HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE TRES

HERMANOS?

IT IS BASICALLY CORN, BEANS AND SQUASH AND THAT IS AN

AZTEC MAYAN LEGEND AND IT IS ACTUALLY SCIENCE, LIKE ALMOST

QUANTUM LEVEL BECAUSE THE LEGUMES, LIKE, THROW NITROGEN

FROM THE ATMOSPHERE BACK INTO THE SOIL SO THAT THE CORN CAN

USE IT AND THEN THE SQUASH PROVIDE SHADE, ONCE THE LEAVES

GET BIGGER, SO NOTHING BURNS OR OVERHEATS.

SO IT IS LIKE ADDING THE DIVERSITY WITHOUT -- LIKE

WITHOUT SACRIFICING PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING.

IT MAKES THE WHOLE OF THE CROP BETTER, JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE

PLANTED TOGETHER.

FOR YEARS IN MICROBIOLOGY ARE ALL INTERACTING TO PROMOTE

POSITIVITY.

>> THEY BOTH HELP EACH OTHER, YEAH.

>> YEAH, LIKE SAY LIKE LOVE THY NEIGHBOR.

THEY WOULD BOTH BE PROMOTING EACH OTHER'S GROWTH.

HOW DO YOU -- HOW WOULD YOU GO ABOUT INDIVIDUALISM?

>> I GUESS IT ALL JUST STARTS WITH KNOWING THE STUDENTS.

I KNOW THAT IS HARD TO BEGIN WITH BECAUSE TEACHERS HAVE

OVER 100 STUDENTS.

THAT IS EVEN A LOW NUMBER FOR HIGH SCHOOL BUT I GUESS IT IS

JUST GETTING TO KNOW THE STUDENTS MORE AND IT JUST

COMES DOWN TO GETTING TO KNOW WHAT ONE CLASS IS LIKE AND

AFTER KNOWING WHAT THAT ONE CLASS IS LIKE, JUST KNOW HOW

EACH STUDENT IS AND JUST SEE HOW CAN YOU HELP THEM AS MUCH

AS YOU CAN AS THE TEACHER OF THE CLASS AND AS JUST AN ADULT

WHO CAN -- WHO IS SUPPOSED TO LEAD YOU IN THE RIGHT WAY,

JUST THAT MOST STUDENTS COMPLAIN AND SAY, YEAH, THAT

TEACHER DOESN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME, AND, I

DON'T KNOW, IT IS A DIFFERENT CASE FOR EVERYBODY BUT I GUESS

IT ALL JUST COMES DOWN TO FIRST JUST GETTING TO KNOW THE

STUDENTS.

>> I THINK THAT IS AN AWESOME POINT BECAUSE, LIKE

INDIVIDUALISM, YOU CAN APPLY IT LIKE INTERNALLY AND ALSO

LIKE TO A GROUP BECAUSE THEY CAN BE, LIKE, OH THIS

INDIVIDUAL WORKS REALLY WELL WITH THE GROUP BECAUSE OF

THESE PARTICULAR TRAITS OR EVEN YOU COULD YOU HAVE THAT

STUDENT THAT REALLY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND WHAT THEY

WANT TO DO AND THEY ARE JUST KIND OF DOING ALL THEIR WORK,

STILL GETTING GOOD GRADES AND WHATEVER JUST CONTINUING ON

WITH THE PROGRAM, BUT HOW WOULD WE LIKE TRY TO ENGAGE

THEM EVEN MORE SO.

I MEAN ENGAGE THEM INTO AN ACTIVITY MORE SO THAN THEIR

INSECURITIES.

>> TO ENGAGE THEM IN ACTIVITY IS THAT, ENGAGE THEM INTO

ACTIVITY.

TELL THE STUDENT, HEY, SO THERE IS THIS NEW THING, I

JUST -- LIKE THERE IS THIS NEW THING THAT YOU HAVEN'T TRIED.

I WANT YOU TO HAVE A GO AT IT, IF YOU LIKE IT, IF YOU DON'T,

THAT IS ALL RIGHT, WE'LL SEE HOW IT GOES AND DEPENDING WHAT

HAPPENS THERE THAT IS WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT THE NEXT PATH IS TO

TAKE.

SO IT IS JUST GIVING KIDS OPPORTUNITIES FROM A MUCH

YOUNGER AGE TO KNOW WHAT THEY WANT TO DO.

>> MY OLD MIDDLE SCHOOL PUT FRESHMAN INTO FOUR DIFFERENT

CLASSES FOR FIRST YEAR.

IT IS LIKE ELECTIVE, MUSIC, ART, ORCHESTRA OR BAND AND

THEY WOULD HAVE A QUARTER TO FIGURE OUT, LIKE, IF THEY LIKE

IT OR NOT. AND THEN LIKE BY THEIR SEVENTH

GRADE YEAR, THEY COULD PICK WHATEVER THEY REALLY --

WHATEVER STUCK OUT TO THEM.

>> WHAT MIDDLE SCHOOL DID YOU GO TO?

>> JEFFERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL.

YEAH, SEE LIKE ALL SCHOOLS FROM, LIKE, OH, YEAH, THAT ONE

MUSIC PROGRAM, THAT ONE ART CLASS, BUT THAT IS

INTERESTING.

I LIKE THAT WHERE ONE QUARTER IS THAT AND ONE QUARTER IS

THAT.

EVEN THOUGH A QUARTER IS A SHORT TIME IT IS STILL ENOUGH

TIME TO KNOW WHETHER YOU LIKE SOMETHING OR NOT.

>> SO, MY NAME IS ANGEL ANAYA.

I AM 17.

I GO TO ATRISCO HERITAGE ACADEMY HIGH SCHOOL AND

SOMETHING THAT WOULD MAKE MY EDUCATION EXPERIENCE BETTER IS

HAVING A MORE INDIVIDUALIZED, MORE PERSONAL EDUCATION WHERE

I HAVE THE CHOICE TO CREATE MY OWN CLASSES BASED ON MY NEEDS.

>> MY NAME IS ALONZO ESTRADA AND I AM A SENIOR AT ATRISCO

HERITAGE ACADEMY AND WHAT WOULD MAKE MY HIGH SCHOOL OR

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE BETTER WOULD BE BETTER FOOD SYSTEM.

I KNOW MYSELF I HAVE TO EAT OR ELSE I GET LIKE MIGRAINES OR

SERIOUS HEADACHE, SO, THEREFORE, I WOULD LOVE IT IF

THE APS SYSTEM OR JUST EDUCATION SYSTEM ITSELF WOULD

GIVE ME OR GIVE THE WHOLE SCHOOL A BETTER LUNCH SYSTEM.

AND, THEREFORE, YOU WOULD GET THAT GOOD QUALITY FOOD, NOT

JUST THAT WARM UP MICROWAVE TYPE OF FOOD.

>> MY NAME IS JACOB OLAGUIR.

I AM GOING TO ALBUQUERQUE HIGH SCHOOL AND SOMETHING THAT

WOULD MAKE MY SCHOOL EXPERIENCE A LITTLE BIT BETTER

IS, IN HIGH SCHOOL, PUTTING LIKE MORE CULTURE INTO THE

CURRICULUM AND LIKE, I DON'T KNOW, STUDYING MORE THINGS

LIKE POP CULTURE AND STUDYING WHY TRENDS CAUGHT ON AND WHY

IT IS SO INFLUENTIAL AND PEOPLE WERE INFATUATED WITH

THESE IDEAS.

>> WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT CULTURE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO

ADD ON, LIKE WHAT SPECIFICALLY?

>> SO, LIKE, YOU KNOW, THERE IS LIKE DIFFERENT TYPES OF

CULTURES, RIGHT?

YOU HAVE TO DEFINE WHAT CULTURE IS.

FOR EXAMPLE, LIKE THE RAP CULTURE, I HAVE BEEN WATCHING

DOCUMENTARIES ON THE RAPTURE DOCUMENTARIES AND THERE IS A

CULTURE WITHIN LIKE MUSIC AND RAP AND HIP-HOP AND RAP AND A

LOT OF OLD PEOPLE WOULD BE LIKE, OH, IT IS A LITTLE TREND

THAT WILL DIE OF IN A COUPLE OF YEARS AND NOW IT IS LIKE

THE NO. 1 GENRE AND WITH POP CULTURE, IT IS LIKE A LOT OF

THESE TRENDS END UP BECOMING LONG-TERM THINGS, AND WE WANT

TO GET THOSE STUDIES INTO THE CURRICULUM.

>> I AM A GRAFFITI ARTIST AND A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T ACCEPT

GRAFFITI AS A FORM OF ART.

IT IS OFTEN IN DITCHES OR WALLS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY AND

LIKE IT IS DONE ILLEGALLY, THEREFORE PEOPLE SEE IT AS

SOMETHING THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I BELIEVE ARE IS SOMETHING YOU DO AND YOU FIND APPEALING, IT

DOESN'T MATTER IF IT IS ON THE STREET OR CANVASS, IF IT IS IN

A FRAME OR MUSEUM, WHATEVER YOU DO IS WHERE YOU FIND ART.

SO THAT IS WHAT I WOULD ASK LIKE, ART CULTURE, PEOPLE

WOULD BE INFORMED ABOUT IT AND NOT JUST GO TO ART CLASS AND

BE LIKE, THESE ARE LINES, SHAPES AND FORMS AND LIGHTING.

IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT THE BASICS.

IT IS ABOUT WHAT IT IS TO US AND WHAT IT MEANS TO US.

>> BOTH MUSIC AND ART AS YOU SAY ARE BOTH -- THEY ARE

CREATIVE, MORE VISUAL AND THAT BASICALLY ALL IN ALL MUSIC IS

ART, BASICALLY.

>> TRUE.

>> SO, WHAT I THINK WOULD HELP US ALL IS MORE -- BECAUSE

UNITED STATES AS A WHOLE, INDIVIDUALIZED, IT IS POOR

QUALITY IN MATHEMATICS, LANGUAGE, SCIENCES, BUT WHAT

DO WE EXCEL AT?

IT IS BASICALLY WE EXCEL AT MOVIES, MUSIC, SO, WHY CAN'T

WE CREATE A CLASS OR BASICALLY SOMETHING THAT HELPS US BUILD

ON WHAT WE ALREADY NATURALLY HAVE THAT IS GREAT.

>> EXACTLY, LIKE, I FEEL LIKE THE PROBLEM IN SCHOOLS IN

GENERAL IS THAT THERE IS A CURRICULUM AND THAT TEACHERS

OFTEN, WHEN THEY START, LIKE WHEN THEY START BEING

TEACHERS, THEY FEEL LIKE THEY ARE BEING TOLD TO FOLLOW THAT

AND LIKE FOLLOW IT DIRECTLY, LIKE, THEY CAN'T GO OFF LINE A

LITTLE BIT BECAUSE THEN THEY GET ALL WORRIED LIKE SOMETHING

IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

LIKE TEACHERS ARE ALWAYS LIKE WORRYING ABOUT THE BAD THINGS

THAT CAN HAPPEN, INSTEAD OF TRYING TO SHOW US THE VALUE OF

WHAT THEY ARE TEACHING US.

>> LIKE WE SAID, SCHOOLS ARE DESIGNED TO MAKE US FOLLOW AND

NOT CREATE OUR OWN PATHS.

LIKE THE ONLY TIME WHERE WE ACTUALLY ENCOURAGE TO CREATE

OUR OWN PATH IS PAST LEVEL OF HIGH SCHOOL INTO COLLEGE GOING

INTO WHERE WE PICK OUR OWN INDIVIDUAL CLASSES AND CREATE

THAT PERSONIZED EDUCATION THAT WE SO DEARLY NEED BEFORE.

>> EXACTLY.

I THINK, ALSO, THE BIG THING ABOUT SCHOOL IS THAT MOST

STUDENTS THEY FEEL THEY GO TO SCHOOL JUST TO GO TO SCHOOL

LIKE.

>> THE DEEPER MEANING OF IT, LIKE, WHAT DOES THIS ALL

REALLY MEAN, LIKE, I MEAN, LIKE, GOING BACK TO THE

CONCEPT LIKE MARKETING, LIKE, YOU KNOW, LIKE, IF YOU WANT TO

SELL SOMETHING TO SOMEONE, YOU MAKE THEM REALIZE WHY THEY

NEED IT AND YOU MAKE THEM REALIZE WHY IS IT IMPORTANT.

SO YOU TAKE THAT CONCEPT OF WHY BASICALLY YOU PUT A VALUE

ON TO SOMETHING OR MAKE SOMETHING IMPORTANT AND THEN

SOMEONE CAN BUY YOUR PRODUCT.

IF YOU MAKE, LIKE, KIDS REALIZE THAT, LIKE, THEIR

EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT, THEN THEY'LL BUY INTO THIS WHOLE

IDEA, WELL, I NEED TO START, LIKE, ACTUALLY LEARNING AND

APPLYING MYSELF IN THESE SCHOOLS TO LIKE BUILD A BETTER

FUTURE.

>> IN EVERY SCHOOL WE HEAR, YOU KNOW, HIGH SCHOOL IS

PREPARING US FOR COLLEGE, BUT I FEEL LIKE THROUGHOUT SIXTH

TO 12TH GRADE, IT ALL STAYS THE SAME.

YOU GO TO A CLASS, SIT DOWN, TAKE NOTES AND TAKE TESTS.

I FEEL LIKE THERE IS NO REAL PREPARATION OF WHAT YOU WANT

TO DO IN COLLEGE.

IT'S DIFFERENT IN COLLEGE.

WHAT YOU WANT TO DO IN COLLEGE IS TAKE CLASSES THAT BELONG TO

YOU AND WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AS YOUR PROFESSION AND HIGH

SCHOOL YOU GET TAUGHT THE SAME THINGS BUT LIKE HIGHER LEVEL

AS YOU GO.

>> MOST PEOPLE ACTUALLY DO CHANGE, FOR EXAMPLE, MAJORS OR

MINORS, BASICALLY, WHAT THEY ARE STUDYING IN COLLEGE, SO,

IF WE ARE ABLE TO EXPOSE THAT TYPE OF CHOICE BEFOREHAND, WE

CAN ELIMINATE SO MUCH, LIKE, OH, I STUDIED TWO YEARS TO BE

A NURSE BUT, LIKE, I JUST FOUND OUT THAT IS NOT WHAT I

WANTED.

THERE, I WANT TO CHANGE MAJORS, LIKE, THAT IS MONEY

WASTED.

IF WE CAN EXPOSE A CHOICE EARLY ON, WE CAN PUT SO MUCH

MORE MONEY FOR OUR EDUCATION AND PUT IT TO WHAT WE DO WANT.

>> EXACTLY.

IF WE WERE TO EXPOSE IT BEFOREHAND AND IF WE WERE TO

GIVE MORE TO THE CHILD TO WORK HANDS ON INSTEAD OF LIKE

LEARNING, I THINK THAT WOULD HELP US LIKE YOU KNOW HELP OUR

EDUCATION BE LIKE LESS EXPENSIVE, YOU KNOW WHAT I

MEAN.

LIKE, IF YOU WANT TO BE A NURSE, YOU DON'T JUST LIKE

LEARN ABOUT BEING A NURSE, YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO TRY BEING A

NURSE.

YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO HOLD THE TOOLS THAT A NURSE DOES, SEE

THE ENVIRONMENT, SEE YOUR WORK SPACE.

I FEEL LOOK IF WE WOULD EXPOSE THAT BEFOREHAND DURING HIGH

SCHOOL, LIKE IF THERE WAS MORE FAIRS ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TO

DO, LIKE JOB FAIRS, I FEEL LIKE THAT WOULD LIKE HELP THE

STUDENTS BE, LIKE, BE MORE LIKE, THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO

DO AND THIS IS LIKE WHAT I WANT TO DO.

BECAUSE, NOW, LIKE MOST KIDS ARE LIKE ASKED WHAT DO YOU

WANT TO DO?

THEY ARE LIKE, WELL, I DON'T KNOW.

I JUST COME HERE AND SIT ALL DAY AND I LEARN THE BASICS BUT

I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT TO DO BECAUSE I HAVEN'T BEEN EXPOSED

TO DIFFERENT OPPORTUNITIES THAT LIKE HELP ME MAKE MY

DECISION.

>> I DON'T KNOW IF THIS CAN BE DONE, JUST MAKE A BIG LIST.

THERE IS JUST LIKE, I DON'T KNOW, LIKE EVERY POSSIBLE JOB

EVER.

I FEEL LIKE THERE IS SO MUCH JOBS OUT THERE THAT I DON'T

EVEN KNOW ABOUT, DUDE.

IT IS LIKE MAYBE HAVE JOB FAIRS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL AND

NOT LIKE TO HIRE KIDS, BUT YOU KNOW HOW THEY HAVE THOSE JOB

FAIRS LIKE THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT.

HOW ABOUT A JOB FAIR THAT ACTUALLY SHOWS DIFFERENT

CAREERS.

LIKE, SOME PEOPLE GO INTO LIKE BEING LIKE -- WELL, THEY GO

INTO SCHOOL BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BE A NURSE, BECAUSE THEY

WANT TO WORK IN A HOSPITAL, BUT THAT IS NOT THE END ALL,

BE ALL.

THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER TITLES IN A HOSPITAL.

SOMETHING MAY BE MORE FITTING THAN JUST A NURSE.

>> I THINK THE ENVIRONMENT WITHIN THE SCHOOL IS AIMED AT

LIKE TO HELP BUILD THE SCHOOL.

FOR EXAMPLE, LIKE, I MAY BE WRONG, TAKE EXAMPLE OF LA

CUEVA HIGH SCHOOL.

NOTICE THAT IS IN THE HILLS AND THERE IS LESS CRIME GOING

ON OVER THERE THEREFORE LIKE THE KIDS STAYING OUT OF

ILLEGAL DRUGS.

>> WE GOT TO LESS TO WORRY ABOUT.

>> WHEN YOU GO BACK TO, FOR EXAMPLE, RIO GRANDE AND YOU

SEE ALL THE THINGS THAT ARE GOING AROUND THAT NEIGHBORHOOD

AND YOU SEE HOW THAT NEIGHBORHOOD LIVES IN POVERTY

AND HOW THAT NEIGHBORHOOD IS FORMED, IT IS JUST LIKE -- IT

MAKES THE SCHOOL LOOK BAD AND IF YOU JUST GIVE UP, THEY

DON'T WANT TO TRY TO MAKE THE SCHOOL LOOK BETTER, THEREFORE

THEY GIVE UP ON THE STUDENTS AND THE STUDENTS END UP

DROPPING OUT.

>> THAT IS WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY, SCHOOL LUNCH THING AND

LIKE US BECOMING MORE LIKE COLLEGE TO KIND OF SERVE AS

MOTIVATION, BECAUSE AS WE LIKE LEARN TO EXCEL AT A CERTAIN

PROFESSION, IT KIND OF LIKE MAKES US MORE COMFORTABLE TO

CONTINUE AND STAY MOTIVATED.

AND THIS THING LIKE HAVING BETTER LUNCHES IS, LIKE, LESS

FOR LOW INCOME LIKE PLACES TO WORRY ABOUT, LIKE.

YOU DO WORRY ABOUT THESE THINGS, DUDE, SO YOU WANT TO

BUILD LIKE A SCHOOL SYSTEM AND EXPECT IT TO SUCCEED WHILE

STILL PAYING OUR BILLS AND TRYING TO HELP OUR FAMILIES,

PAY FOR, LIKE, YOU KNOW, YOU GOT TO HELP US OUT SOMEWHERE.

>> SO WE CAN STAY MOTIVATED AND CONTRIBUTE TO SOCIETY.

>> IT COMES DOWN TO WHAT IS NEXT.

WHAT CAN WE DO IN ORDER TO IMPROVE ON ALL THESE THINGS.

I KNOW IT IS JUST TALK.

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO AFTER WE GET OUT OF THIS STUDY?

>> YOU HAVE GOT TO ASK THE SOURCE.

IT IS LIKE WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP YOU HELP US?
