Xherdan Shaqiri becomes latest winger on Liverpool's summer radar

Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri is the latest winger to emerge on Liverpools summer radar, with the Swiss touted with a bargain move.

Shaqiri has set his sights on a move away from the Potters after their relegation to the Championship, and is interested in remaining in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp is looking to add to his wide ranks this summer, with Gents Moses Simon revealed as a target for Liverpool on Tuesday evening.

Now, according to the Guardians Andy Hunter, Shaqiri is an option for Klopp, with the 26-year-old available for between £12 million and £13.

5 million due to a release clause.

He has been linked with the likes of Tottenham, Southampton and Huddersfield Town since Stokes drop down to the second tier, with the right winger certainly not short of options.

Liverpool currently have Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah as first-choice forwards, but signing Simon and Shaqiri would provide Klopp with the strength in depth that was sorely missed in 2017/18.

Shaqiri has struggled to settle at a club since leaving FC Basel in 2012, with opportunities limited at both Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.

He often cut a frustrated figure at Stoke, with a paucity of quality around him despite promising recruitment in recent years.

Last season he scored eight goals, assisting a further seven, in 36 Premier League games, topping the charts for both in the Potters squad.

Speaking to Aargauer Zeitung last week he said: It is no secret that I will leave the club.

I think the [Premier] league is perfect for me..

I would love to stay in England but I dont want to rule anything out, he added.

Its the best league with the best players..

He was a target for Liverpool back in 2014 under Brendan Rodgers, but Bayern were reluctant to part ways with their 11.6 million signing.

Liverpool's summer signings hint at next stage in Jurgen Klopp's tactical evolution - Duration: 8:51.

Liverpool's summer signings hint at next stage in Jurgen Klopp's tactical evolution

Jurgen Klopp has made Liverpool into a formidable attacking outfit, and we could be about to witness the next evolution of his tactics.

From stumbling outside the Premier Leagues top four to solidifying a place within it; from early cup exits to regular runs to the final; it has been all-change at Anfield over the past couple of seasons – in terms of style, mentality, quality of players being signed and of everybody in the management team working together to achieve a common goal.

Klopp has turned a group of players into a collective by gradually shaping them into the all-out-attack masterclass fans have seen this past season.

But now new names are ready to arrive, and it could signal another change.

The signings this summer are not only aimed at increasing the quality and depth of Liverpools squad, but also at helping Klopp shape the next tactical iteration of the side.

One system, two phases.

After joining the Reds midway through 2015/16, Klopp initially ran with a 4-3-2-1 system, playing with Adam Lallana as one of the two supporting attacking midfielders.

It was a narrow version of a 4-3-3, with no real wide attackers in the squad to utilise, thus meaning the midfield at times was slightly stretched across the pitch and the press came from the top, Lallana and Roberto Firmino pulling the trigger.

In 16/17 and then 17/18 there was a switch: a true 4-3-3 because he had the players to do so, with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah having been key additions, and the midfield became much more responsible for quick transitions and turnovers.

Speed in attack, interchanging positions, a rather functional midfield zone much of the time.

It all came together quite nicely, thanks in no small part to the way the front line worked together.

A 4-3-3 it might have been, but in-game there were subtle changes.

Firmino was key to the versatility.

Often, he would drop deeper and the diamond shape created allowed the wide men to exploit gaps running centrally.

Other times, out of possession the Reds often lined up 4-4-2, keeping Salah high and central off the ball—and thats perhaps the insight which showcases what Klopps next step might be.

Back to the future.

In his Dortmund days, Klopp was noted for using a 4-2-3-1 system, but in truth it depended somewhat on the opposition and the competition just how the midfield and attack set up.

When he first joined Liverpool we identified key ways his Dortmund side set up in the Champions League, and often it was in a more structured 4-4-2 shape, particularly out of possession.

Perhaps these signings hint at a similar approach — but with far more panache, daring and speed, both on and off the ball than even that tremendous BVB team managed.

Consider a mix of facts and assumptions:.

Keita has experience as part of a midfield double pivot Keita also featured in a 4-3-3 in 17/18 to release his attacking instincts Each of Henderson, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wijnaldum can play centrally and in the channels When the Reds drop to 4-4-2, Mane drops wide to make the four in midfield Keeping Salah high and central as often as possible is key to Klopps aims.

Its not difficult to draw a conclusion from there: While the personnel may line up in a 4-3-3 graphic, more and more often the players coming in can adapt to a midfield quartet.

This would a vital next step to get right, giving the Reds flexibility, unpredictability in attack and remaining solid defensively.

From a four in the middle, the Reds press-and-flood mode of attack immediately gives them a fourth player in attack after transitions, rather than just the front three.

The two from the sides, not wingers by any stretch of the imagination in this system, immediately become support players for the attack.

Given the players who will be available centrally, it also offers the chance to make the most of an extra runner from deep when pertinent: Keitas athleticism in surging forward, Oxlade-Chamberlains ability to do the same—and Fabinho, a true defensive shield, remaining in place.

And with tactical understanding in the group comes an ability to seamlessly trade places, work centrally in attack and wider, though compact, in defensive mode.

Fluidity is key.

Its not just the players already here, those with strong rumours surrounding them fit the profile, too: Nabil Fekir, Ousmane Dembele, Moses Simon.

Fekir might be best as a 10 or second striker, but he has also garnered plenty of experience playing a free role from the sides.

And its not exactly a wing role hed be asked to fill.

Dembele is a wide forward at heart, but Dortmund played him as a 10, a central runner on many occasions, and at Barcelona he has played right of a four-man midfield.

It isnt about pigeonholing players and demanding computerised versions of positions from them, but about maximising their talents on the ball in the right spaces.

Fluidity in a four-man midfield comes in many ways, of course, and many shapes.

Its only a few weeks ago that the Reds went for a diamond, with Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield that day.

All the lineups, all the personnel selections… they fit in a 4-3-3, or any variation of a 4-4-2.

There might be straight lines in defensive shape, but once the ball is won — and remember, at home in particular Liverpool dominate a lot of matches to an absurd extent — its about movement, interchanging positions, exploiting spaces.

Klopp is building the squad and adding the players to do exactly that, and the summer additions will be just another step along the path to the team he really wants to see.

As his project progresses, numbers in formations written on a page seem to matter far less with every passing month, certainly across an entire 90 minutes, and positional flexibility is entirely more pertinent to focus on.

The Untold Truth Of Saweetie - Duration: 4:07.

Thanks to her infectious breakout single "ICY GRL," Bay Area rapper Saweetie is one of the

most promising artists in the rap game right now.

The song went viral in 2017, propelling Saweetie to stardom and earning her praise from some

of the industry's hottest artists.

In just a matter of months after the song's release, she signed a record deal with Warner

Brothers and created her own label, Icy, which shows that she's definitely one to keep an

eye on.

But there's a lot more to the rapper than just her attention-grabbing single.

Let's dive in and explore the untold truth of Saweetie.

"Hey what's up, it's Saweetie the Icy Girl."

College grad

Given the many celebrities who've dropped out of school, it's become quite the trend

in the music industry to succeed without a degree.

Saweetie, however, earned her Bachelor's Degree in Communications and Business from the University

of Southern California in 2016.

She told Billboard,

"I originally wasn't going to go to college, though.

I missed the deadline for my dream school, USC.

[...] I chose San Diego State because they had the highest transfer rate to USC.

So I started there and after 2 years transferred to USC."

She told Interview magazine that she decided to, quote,

"...thug it out and get this degree [because] nothing was touching a USC diploma."

Staying positive

Saweetie wasn't always the "ICY GRL" we know and love today.

In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, she revealed that when she first wrote the

dynamic party anthem, she only had a few bucks to her name.

She added,

"I was disgusted with myself.

I went from being a hustler, working different jobs to renting rooms off Craigslist, and

I just wasn't happy."

Saweetie revealed that she wrote "ICY GRL" when she was sitting in her room, which only

contained a mattress, in an attempt to will everything she wanted into existence.

She told Billboard,

"I had a few dollars in my bank account, not going out, sitting in my room, and eating

a peanut butter jelly sandwich.

So what I had to do was stay positive, keep writing raps."

"I didn't have the resources.

So I was like I'm gonna just post my rap online, and someone's gonna see it.

And someone did."

She's a Barb

Every artist has that one musician who helped influence who they are and the style of their

music the most.

For Saweetie, that person was Nicki Minaj.

She explained to Billboard,

"When Nicki came out, she had great punchlines and was rapping about a bunch of different

stuff.

She reminded me of myself and I remember being a kid saying, 'I'm a barbie, too.'"

Saweetie revealed to Interview Magazine that it was Nicki's 2007 hit "Can't Stop Won't

Stop," that made her fall in love with her Trinidadian idol.

Independent woman

If you were hoping to see Saweetie boo'ed up anytime soon, it's probably not gonna happen.

"I haven't really been dating.

I'm really focused on myself.

And I feel like it's really early in my career, and I'd like to make sure all the attention

is on me."

Saweetie is hyper-focused on building her brand, and she has no time for the men in

the biz who have hidden agendas.

"When you're normally networking it's with men.

They claim they wanna help you and work with you.

But when it comes down to it, they wanna go on dates."

"I was trying to, like, get my music done and they had hidden intentions."

Role model

We've all heard stories of female hip hop artists being encouraged to pump up their

images to fulfill a stereotype, whether it's dressing provocatively, dancing seductively,

or penning mature lyrics.

But Saweetie has made it very clear that she's not into reducing herself to eye candy for

clout.

She explained to HipHopDX,

"I don't just show skin to show skin.

It's okay when other female rappers do it, however, that's just not my demeanor."

High maintenance

Though Saweetie might have gone through some tough times in the past, the bougie lifestyle

that she boasts about in her smash single has truly become her life on a day-to-day

basis.

="I've worn my Tory Burch sandals jet skiing."

She told Teen Vogue that her lifestyle is the reason she named her very first project

High Maintenance.

She told Billboard,

"I feel like when people see me, they can tell that I'm materialistic and I like keeping

myself up.

That's where [the title] comes from."

"I'm high maintenance baby."

However, she claims there's a deeper message behind it, and describes the close relationships

in her life as "high maintenance" as well, meaning she works hard to nurture them.
