Good morning guys and welcome back to my channel!
If you hear a weird noise it's the air conditioning because it's still soooo hot in here.
By the way, I recently bought these two palettes by Makeup Revolution:
this is the Affirmation, and this is the Mermaids Forever,
and I want to do, for each one of these, a mini review and a mini tutorial.
In this video I'm gonna show you the Mermaids Forever one, a really beautiful palette.
Furthermore, I want to tell you that for this video and for the others to come ENGLISH SUBTITLES are available.
So, you can activate them down here and follow my video even if you're not Italian.
So this is box in which the palette comes in.
It's all blue, and in front of it you can read "Mermaids Forever" and all the other infos.
In the back, there are all the shadow depicted, but without names (for the names there's a plastic sheet inside the palette itself), and the ingredient list.
This is the palette, made of black plastic like the majority of Makeup Revolution's products.
When it came I actually was kind of surprised because I imagined them slightly bigger.
Being a 32 eyeshadow palette, for me personally, it's quite little.
It's little bigger than the Urban Decay's Electric Palette, but not that much.
So, these are the shadows.
The colors are 32, and you have a huge mirror the same size as the palette,
and this is the sheet with the shadow's names.
The color range is varied: you have whites, pearl, roses, purples, blues, green, browns, there's black, greys.
I had the chance to use it in these couple of weeks and I set my mind on this palette.
Starting of the size of the eyeshadows: the shadows are tiny, precisely the size of a 2 cents (€) coin.
The palette cointains a total amount of 20 gr of product.
The shadow's finish are shimmers, metallics, mattes and mattes with glitters in it.
For what I've seen trying it in this period, the formula is quite discontinuous and different between the shadows:
not all the shadows has the same pigmentation as the others.
The metallics are super pigmented, and you can see it from my inner corner color, that's the "Fishtail" shadow.
This is so pigmented either dry or wet.
The shimmery ones are slighty difficult to work with and they don't work well when you wet them.
Even the matte ones are different between each other:
some of them are pigmented enough and others are basically invisible.
Before the video tutorial I included pictures
so you can see all the color swatched on my arm and their pigmentation.
As my transition shade I'm going to take this orange right here, called "Creature".
The next shade I'm taking is called "Kingdom".
The color I'm applying is called "Whale".
On the center of my lid I'm gonna apply wet the color "Waves".
On the inner third of the eye, I'm going to apply "Fishtail".
On the inner corner and on top of the blue, I'm applying "Seashell".
So, this was the quick tutorial.
So, what I really think about this palette?
For the price point, I think you might get 20 really good eyeshadows that actually work.
The rest of the 32 shadow may even be ripped out of the palette,
since I really don't like them.
For example, the blue I used on my lid, called Waves,
it's a beautiful color in the pan, beacuse it's a blue with purple reflexes,
really pretty.
Even from the swatched you've seen, the reflexes are beautiful,
but it's really, really sheer.
If you want a really beautiful and opaque color, you need to layer it.
But, above all, it works terrible when it's wet.
You've seen it in the tutorial, wet is terrible,
used dry is a little bit better.
I want to try them all again.
In these days I had the chance to create different looks
and set my mind on this palette.
Metallic shadows, like these two down here, called Ariel (the name says it all) and Pink Sea
are amazing and are my favourites.
They're super pigmented, they glide on perfectly and to me
they're best two colors in this palette.
Fishtail too, that's the one i used in the inner corner, is beautiful
and it works really wel either dry or wet.
My other favourites are these two down here, called Enchant and Starfish
really, really pigmented too.
For as long as it concerns the purple section,
to me, it could have been done better.
The majority of the purple colors, in these two rows,
are quite bland and Meh.
Lot of times I used this color called "Magic" as transition shade
but I always see as sheer and too light in pigmentation.
As far as the three rows of greens, browns and greys
I have to admit that this color, called Mineral is really great.
It's beautiful, it's super pigmented and it's great either wet and dry
The color "Whale", the black you saw in the tutorial,
it's awful to me.
Its really sheer and invisible and it doesn't blend well.
In an other look I created, I had the chance to try the color Prince,
this dark green right here,
and this color too, left me with the bitter in my mouth.
It doesn't work well, it doesn't blend well, it's blotchy
once it's blended is greyish
even if I used blues and grey colors with it.
The other colors are great, even this color right here, called Treasure, is beautiful.
So, for me, the only flaw to this palette is the formula of matte shades
beacuse they're sheer and hard to blend
I really don't like them.
If they would have done a whole good quality metallics and shimmery shadow palette,
it would have been a really good alternative to the many colorful palettes on the market
like the Sleek Makeup palettes, or the Urban Decay's Electric palette.
For those who are on a budget this would be a valid alternative
if matte shadows were as good as the other shadow in the palette.
The retail price for this palette is 9.95 €
