what's up guys so I know right now in Vietnam you guys are going through some
tough times that's right colleges so today I've shared with you
guys about my college apply process and how easy it was just to fuck with you
guys so the college applying process and your science is pretty simple if you
like a college you apply to it and then they will decide whether to admit you or
not based on your GPA no SAT a CT score stuff like that so how did my college
appliance or we go oh and there we go the story start in June 2017 but before
we did tutorial where to give you guys background first so on August 2017 my
senior year in high school we started it will be a straight marathon of getting
my GPA up applying for tests like a CT SAT applying for extra doing whatever it
takes to make my resume look matter it's just straight marathon there's no
stopping up here at all from August 27 to the end of the year so
I have no time to pick College if I start in August 27 so I need to pick my
colleges right here June 2017 this is where the story started
back then I didn't know what I want to do with my life here sure I know that it
is video but I don't know whether I want to be making big blockbuster videos or
just making YouTube videos I don't know whether I should be a cinematographer or
just just choose something in digital media and have making videos on the side
plus there are other factors involved like I don't even know what country I'm
going winner is Canada or USA I go to a four-year university you all start in a
community college first I don't even know which city do I go to there are so
many factors involved and I have to pick a choice right now so I came up with a
plan
for every city in either USA or Canada I will choose three schools to
universities and one Community College each of those school you don't have a
film major or a digital media major so I pick School in Houston LA San Francisco
finally I end up with about 20 schools that I have to apply to 20 schools an
average person has 10 schools in this pocket I have 20 it was a fucking
terrible plan what I should have done was to wait until I come back to school
on August and ask my guidance counselor that's why I should of course I could
not apply to all 20 schools I applied to about 15 and oh my god the process was
it was painful it was really pain I was under immense pressure trying to keep up
my GPA my ICT my CT joining clubs that I give no shit about I don't care about
those clubs at all but again I have to do for the resume I got accepted to
eight universities well seven universities and one Community College
CCID is in Columbus Ohio I got about ten
thousand dollar scholarships there Capital University is also in the muscle
hi oh I got a $22,000 squash SPU Seattle Pacific University this school is
amazing alright I got 22,000 scholarship there a year CSUN California State
University of both which no hardship score Visual Arts in NYC $10,000 a year
scholarship and Canada I got to control Brown Community College and I got your
Emily Carr in Vancouver by this time I've already decided that I'm not going
to Canada so I'll go around and
retire then I decide that I will be able to afford SVA decided I'm not going to
call a bus anymore Columbus is a small city too small you
know too small that's what she said yeah Bali we have SPU in Seattle at CSUN in
LA this is a really tough choice because I like Seattle and LA all the same it
took a while for me to decide finally I like Seattle but I love it
like so things are already settled I'm going to CSUN but one thing happened on
a trip to Houston Texas I talked to a guy about his college choice of mine and
he asked me why didn't I go to Community College and I didn't know how to answer
that remember the decision I made and - in
2017 each city will have two universities my college right after that
decision about four months later I decided to just quit applying to
Community College the reason is I feel like community colleges or inferior
comparing to four-year universities
let me tell you guys something that is not a nonsense reason at all community
colleges do have a reputation for being bad academically or environmentally it
is what it is and I agree that school is what you make out of it but if I'm
putting the same amount of work in either a university or Community College
I'll go with a university all right as CSUN it's not just any university
heater it belongs to the top ten films coolest composed by The Hollywood
Reporter however that's one thing that I forgot to include in the equation that
is the community college that I'm interested in our host College that's a
really high transfer rate this means that after two years of studying there I
can transfer to a four-year university to finish the last two years of my
bachelor's degree so what doesn't CSUN have but the universities in the top 10
film schoolers have a location if you live on Google Maps you see the San
Fernando Valley is totally separated away from LA by this mountain it's like
the younger lets hip cousin of LA it's a community in the desert mostly there's
not much in San Fernando Valley my friends and I were from the San Fernando
Valley that flat stretch of land on the other side of the Hollywood Hills
if I go to CSUN I'm safe in the hands of one of the top ten film school in the
United States the academic is good but not so much of the location so it all
comes down to this battle between location and academic
I can get a solid education in CSUN and to be honest I don't think location
matters that great of a do either but
see I've always loved big cities after three years of living here I'm ready to
head out I'm ready to be my best self in a place where I love I'm going to CSUN
means living that dream behind for something same in this case a academic
because CSUN listener top ten from school while going to OCC means risking
everything again risking stability risking failing risking everything so
that after two year I can transfer to University that's also in a top ten
films coolest but also has a better location and CSUN does keep this in mind
when you transfer to a university you're always at the bottom of the list of who
they will admit they will always admit the high school students first then
their own University students who've been there since the first place then
you keep another thing in mind I just got rejected from UCLA and put on a
waiting list in LMU two of the schools that I intend to transfer to after two
years so knowing that I'm not good enough for those universities right now
and knowing that the competition pool will be so much smaller than it already
is do I still want to risk it look the
worst thing you can do in this situation is to take risk for the sake of taking
risk you cannot listen to anybody you have to make your own decision you must
always ask yourself is the result worth all the risk I'm taking its location
worth all the risk I'm putting into it its location so worth it I'm throwing
away my chance to study at the top 10 film school right now just to work hard
all over again living with the fear of failure with instability for the next
two years just so that I can get you a university best also in the top 10 film
school but also has a better location is it worth it
