Okay.
Hello, everyone.
Hello, everyone.
Say hello to my "Hope World".
Welcome to "Hope World".
Let me say hi first.
This is J-Hope of BTS.
I released a mixtape
so I want to have V LIVE to celebrate it.
I am at my studio now.
I started the show with the first track,
"Hope World".
I sound like a radio DJ. How's it?
That's right. The mixtape is released!
Applause! The desk is shaking. Applause!
Yes...
It was 30 minutes before the midnight. It was 11:30.
It felt like when we made our debut as BTS.
Maybe worse than that.
I felt so nervous.
I was so nervous.
Around 11:45,
I started to yell.
I was like, "Ah! Is it really being released"?
That's what happened.
And around 11:55, I went crazy.
I went crazy.
I kept making noise and I had stomache.
Because I was nervous. "Is it being released"?
And at midnight, when it was released...
It feels different.
Very different.
My dream came true.
And I achieved my goal.
Releasing a mixtape was my goal and I achieved it.
I am so happy.
I am very happy.
For about several years...
Several years? It was about a year.
I spent about a little over a year to make this mixtape and on March 2nd...
March 2nd is a new beginning for me.
On March 2nd, for a great start,
I released my music, "Hope World"
which represents my world.
Applause.
That's right.
Well...
I am still nervous. Let me drink some water.
I...
I checked mentions from my fans on SNS.
Someone uploaded a meme.
Someone drinking water.
Water... Just like me.
That person drank water like this.
That's what happened just now.
That's right. Let me check the comments.
"I really like it".
Hi, thank you.
Many fans from overseas are congratulating me.
"Awesome mixtape". Thank you.
Do you like the songs?
Do you like them? Which one is your favorite?
"You are so cool".
"When did you film the MV"?
MV... MV...
When did I film it?
I filmed it in Febuary.
I was very busy in February.
I was very busy after my birthday.
"Always". You like that song?
Supreme Boi did a great job directing and
producing the song, "Always".
I really like the song too.
I had fun recording the song too.
I really enjoyed the recording process.
"Base Line". Many people like the song.
"Base Line"...
I will play the songs and tell you about it later.
I didn't really expect the song to be popular.
It was more like an interlude.
I made the beat and wrote the lyrics
but I thought of it as an interlude which connects the two songs.
But I ended up writing the lyrics for it.
When I listened to the master version,
it changed a lot.
It became a great song. I think it's a great song.
Now, I already have 10 million hearts.
And there are 350,000 viewers.
I wanted to share some behind-the-scene stories
about "Hope World". I guess we can call it behind-the-scenes.
I turned on the V LIVE to tell you the behind story.
It's the beginning of March. The day where everyone starts fresh.
Does everyone go to school in the morning?
Don't you all have to go to work?
Right?
I don't think I can be on V LIVE for that long today.
I'm going to be here short but strong.
"I love Mixtape". Thank you so much.
It was made for you, our fans.
I wanted to play if for you quickly as possible.
Right now? I don't have any makeup on.
I work up this morning
and I was busy with the M/V and the music...
And various interviews and...
Today was a really hectic day.
For the M/V,
we got feedbacks and edited it.
And I had to go over the music and the lyrics one last time
since it was before the release, I had a lot on my hands.
So I got up early in the morning and stayed at the studio all day.
So my condition is like...
You might say grimy is the word to describe my condition right now.
That's right.
Since it has been released,
I'm going to introduce the album
and tell you how I worked on it.
I want to talk a little about the M/V.
How was the M/V, everyone?
Music video.
Our director, Lumpens outdid himself.
Lumpens is in charge of BTS music videos.
He's the best.
How is the M/V? Is it good?
The M/V has
everything that I wanted in it.
That's how I felt.
It's the tone and color I wanted.
And the artwork as well.
And my performing really showed up
nicely in the M/V.
I honestly love it.
In the middle, the Korean word for "Hope"
is my favorite part.
Hope. That word in Korean is
just beautiful.
The Korean language is beautiful.
When I saw that part, I was like, "Wow, that screams J-Hope".
This is what J-Hope is about.
Our director, Lumpens,
he nailed it.
Yes.
How was the M/V? Which part did you like the best?
Which part?
"Daydream".
Does it keep stopping? Really?
"It's perfect". Thank you.
"Replicating magic".
Yeah, isn't that really unique?
Replicating magic.
Replicating magic!
Right? I think it really turned out well.
And many of it... "The part where you hold on to the mic".
"The shining bed". Someone also said they like the colors.
Yes.
I think the set was amazing,
and the overall tone went really well with the song itself.
Oops, sorry.
Thank you.
Bless you.
"The airplane at the ending".
The airplane at the ending.
The airplane at the ending... What does that mean?
I see.
"Thank you for inviting us to Hope World". Yes everyone, this is Hope World.
Enjoy yourself.
Yes. I think everyone liked it.
The M/V is really top-notch. There's nothing more to say about it.
I love it so much.
And I'm going to watch it again when I'm done with this V LIVE.
Yep.
Now since we talked about the M/V,
I think I'm going to introduce the album.
The reason I made "Mixtape"
was because...
The reason for it was because...
It was kind of like a dream for me.
It was a big dream of mine.
To make and play a song that I made about myself.
I wanted to play it for many people.
And for the longest time,
I worked on it and invested in that dream,
and I studied a lot and wrote songs, researched on ways to make it happen
so I could figure out a way so that many fans
and the public who don't know about J-Hope
all enjoy my music.
So the first and foremost reason I made this was
because I wanted it so badly.
I desired it so much.
The fact that I had that desire means
that I was that passionate about music.
I think it's safe to say that.
I didn't think that I would get to love music the way I do now.
I started as a dancer,
and I started to listen to music because of dancing.
I had been used to expressing music through my dances before.
I came to Seoul,
and met many friends who rap,
like RM and Suga, and Supreme Boi.
And I learned so much from those friends.
And studied with them. So many guys helped me out.
I think that's how I learned to really love music.
It might be a little embarrassing for me to say this but,
I think music has really become a part of my life.
I really think so.
I had thought so much about music.
And was really passionate about
making a song that about myself
quickly so that you could listen to it as well.
That was my biggest reason.
I wanted it so much.
Yep.
Mixtape was...
I worked on it for a really long time.
I worked on it for a while,
it was a long long process.
If I talk about it a little...
2 years ago? We started talking about it like 2 years ago.
Many people around us
started to say that they liked my music,
and BTS fans asked
when J-Hope's Mixtape would be released.
And my friends
also said that I should release one sometime.
So I got stimulated by that attention.
I started to think that I really wanted to try
and I wanted to show people music
that was really my style. I think I started thinking about this 2 years ago.
And I really started to work on it
around the time of Wing's Tour.
We had our first concert on February 18th,
and untill we went off for our first tour,
I made a concrete plan about Mixtape
and left for our tour.
So I worked on it on plane rides,
in hotels abroad, anywhere.
I worked on it little by little.
And after that,
I had aimed on for releasing it last year.
I had aimed for last year
but working on music doesn't end all in one try.
doesn't normally end at one go.
That's really hard to do.
And there was a lot of trial and error.
I looked through and researched various styles,
so it took longer than I thought it would.
Some tracks got edited out, and some tracks went back in,
and the rap part had to be redone ,
and I had to think about what I could
do to make the beat better.
That part took a really long time.
And in the midst of all this,
BTS as a team was more important so...
There wasn't that much time...
I had to work on my music in my spare time.
That's how "Hope World", released today on March 2nd came to be.
Thank you so much.
"Hixtape". Why do you call it that?
Anyways now...
I worked on it really hard,
and I made "Hope World"
just for you guys.
So I hope you listen to it a lot and show your love for it.
I'm going to play the music and talk about it as well.
Short episodes.
Some anecdotes and the working process.
I'll talk a little bit about it from now on.
The first track is "Hope World".
It has been released through Sound Cloud,
and the album cover art is really cute.
We went through a couple editing sessions for the cover art as well.
And there were many options to choose from.
But this is what we landed on.
I wanted to look like pop art.
So it turned as to be something
that goes well with my music.
I really like it.
Let me play the first track and explain it a little.
"Hold World".
I think many fans like this song.
That sound in the beginning of "Hope World"
wasn't there in the beginning but I wanted something that sounded like that.
I kind of wanted it to sound like it was being played from underwater.
Because this song is...
This song is like the first name card in
my music career. "Hope World".
It's a really bright song.
And it was a track written so I could show everyone who I am.
And this track was produced by DOCS Kim
who is in charge of our band music.
And it turned out really cool.
I'm not sure if you all know,
but there's a novel by Jules Verne titled "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea".
I loved that book when I was younger,
and that became the motif
and made a conceptual song.
For some reason, I really want this track
to really sound like me.
So when I made the melody or the rap part, I wanted it to be easy to sing along to.
To e honest,
I thought about how I would like to perform this song on stage
when I wrote this song.
I thought that it would be so much fun to perform this song on stage.
And I thought the chorus would be fun too.
It's a really bright song, completely my style.
This will be a like my first name card.
And "Hope World" is the first track in the album,
so when people turn my music on,
this is what they'll hear first.
And I think it turned out really well.
That's right. There's a talkbox part too.
It's one of my favorite tracks.
All 7 tracks are great,
but I can't stop listening to this one.
Since this is the track that will open up
my music, my album, I hope many people will listen to it and like it.
That's right. So that was "Hope World".
And then the next track is...
It's called "Piece Of Peace".
"Piece Of Peace". "P.O.P pt.1"
Shall we listen to this song too?
I produced this song.
I produced it and wrote the song and the lyrics.
So I'm really attached to this song.
Since I produced it myself.
Of course, I had some amazing people help me.
But it was completely made with my own two hands,
so I'm really attached to this song.
For the 1st track and this 2nd track,
I wanted to show a side of me that
most people don't know or expect.
So with that in mind...
Even though I didn't think about this all the time,
the beat came out really naturally and expressed myself really well.
If I were to pick a theme for this...
The title "Piece of Peace" is just what it is.
I...
I wrote this song because I wanted to
be that piece of peace for many people.
That's the message behind it.
Honestly...
"Peace" is a really sensitive topic to discuss,
but I wanted people to have some kind of peace
within themselves
and be happy with their lives.
I hope that my music could be piece of your happiness,
that would mean so much for me.
Since my name has "Hope" in it.
If my music could be your hope and happiness, that would mean so much to me.
The reason I added "Part 1" to the title
was because I wanted to hold on to the them of peace,
and keep discussing this topic.
No matter what my songs are about,
I hope they can be a piece of peace for you.
I want to speak for you through my music
and make music that could comfort you.
And that was why I made the track title "Piece of Peace".
This song really means a lot to me,
and I feel really attached to the song as well.
"Piece Of Peace". Please show your love for this song.
Everyone, what do you think will happen when we put all these little pieces together?
What kind of big happiness could we make?
And moving on to the next track.
"Daydream".
This is the song with the released M/V,
and it's kind of weird saying this is the title song,
but it's the main song of the album.
It's the main song of Mixtape,
and now let's listen to it a little.
Pdogg, who is in charge of BTS music,
made an amazing track and I made the lyrics and melody to it.
You'll understand it once you listen to this song.
"Daydream" is a dream that you have in the day.
And dreams are mostly impossible to achieve.
But this song talks about how I want to dream about the impossible.
J-Hope is a person that is known to the public,
and a public figure.
And with that title, there comes responsibilities and burdens.
I understand those aspects of this position
but it's only natural that Jeong Hoseuk as a person has his own needs as a human being.
This song is about those desires.
The topic itself could seem a little serious,
that is a possibility. I thought so too at first.
I thought that if I focused to much on the topic, the song would be a little too serious.
So I kept the beat at a house tempo.
And if I made the music kind of contrasting to the topic of the song,
I thought that it would be a little more charming.
Writing "Daydream" really made me think a lot.
I think it turned out really well.
It shows a lot of the untamed, raw charm in the music.
And it's really different from the tracks that come before this.
The 2 tracks is really about J-Hope,
and the tone and theme really scream me.
On the other hand, this track is like my shadow.
It's a song that expresses my shadow.
That was "Daydream".
I had a lot of fun when I wrote it.
I remember one anecdote from when I was working on this song.
It was when we were on our tour to South America. Brazil!
I wrote this song in a hotel in Brazil.
I worked on the song in Brazil.
Why do I keep sneezing today?
Bless me yeah!
There are many songs that I worked on abroad.
I got a vibe for this in Brazil.
It feels like the temperature is going to rise when I listen to this song.
Now let me introduce the next track.
It's the 4th track already.
I'll play it for you. It's a really short song.
But it's short and strong.
I produced this song as well.
Supreme Boi helped me produce this song.
Since I just started to make music, I get a lot of help and study.
To be honest, I didn't expect that much from this song at first.
But it turned out really amazing.
And if I ever get the chance,
I want to sing this song live for you all in the near future.
Listen to it.
This song has the topic of "Base Line".
So it's like there's a base line in me.
My foundations.
People who don't know J-Hope well
don't really know how I started my music.
And this is a song that expresses my thoughts on that.
It's strong, right?
It's a track that discusses about the essence of me as a person.
It's great.
It has a strong beat and the DJ scratching effects at the end are quite impressive.
I think the rap recording went really well.
I was really excited at the recording session.
It's really fun.
So this is how the song goes.
This is a very fun tune.
It's kind of a interlude in the album.
It smooths the transition between tracks.
Let's move onto the next track.
The next track is "HANGSANG".
Supreme Boi did producing
and directing of the track.
Let's take a listen and talk about it.
The hook of this track is really catchy.
Literally, "Always with my dawg".
My driving force is BTS.
Our BTS crew went through tough times, and now we take a plane
meeting a lot of celebrities and doing our music.
We kind of became successful. It contains swag.
It's embarrassing to say "swag" myself.
I basically tried to show off in this track. Pretty clear, right?
I showed off in this track!
Supreme Boi put especially a lot of efforts into this track.
When we talked about the mixtape, "I have this kind of track".
And I loved it.
There was actually only a track at first.
I thought it would be a little plain.
But as I kept listening to it, I realized it's turn-up kind of a song.
This is a pretty cool, turn-up song. I hope you'll enjoy it.
There's some variation at the end, and the rap gets intense.
The mixing was done by a very cool guy, which made the song all the more cool.
"HANGSANG (Always)" is...
No, "Base Line" was the last track completed.
Other than that, "HANGSANG" was completed second to last.
I'm truly proud of our group.
Of course I have to give credit to our fans for our achievements.
I'm extremely proud of our team.
There's this deep pride.
Because we started working since early years and poured our time into our work.
7 of us have worked together for so long. So I feel proud.
In that sense, this track "HANGSANG"
has the lyrics "We always take the world by storm together".
I hope we can keep traveling around the world to present our music
and do something cool.
I'm afraid it's taking too much time, let's speed things up.
The next track is "Airplane".
This is a very meaningful tune, everyone.
As for the beat, I vividly remember.
I made the beat in Chicago, U.S. Chicago!
I was eating pizza at that time.
Chicago-style pizza! You know the famous Chicago-style pizza, right?
I remember I made it with a machine in the hotel room.
Though it was only a sketch back then, it was briefly revealed.
It was briefly revealed during our comeback show.
I said, "I think this will be a possible outro".
I listened to it in the plane.
I wanted to write about an airplane.
Because last year, the year before last, and these days
I spent so much time on the plane.
When I was a little boy, my wish was to be on an airplane.
My wish was to get on a plane and fly in the sky.
Here it is. "Now I fly all I want, on the airplane".
It reminded me of old memories.
I used to dream of it. And now...
I remember I was sitting in a very nice seat on the plane.
I was listening to the instrumental version of this song, looking at the night sky.
The lyrics just popped into my head.
I thought, "This is what being inspired feels like".
I completed all the processes of sketch and melody on the plane.
I finished it up in the studio.
This track is also about our success.
This song is significant in that we sang together.
I asked the members to sing along for the song.
Since we've worked together and had tours all around the world.
And since we're a team. I wanted to sing with them for this song.
So I asked them a favor.
They didn't hesitate to accept it, so I was quite moved.
The track "Airplane" is...
as meaningful as "Piece of Peace" to me.
Though every song is meaningful.
I think it will remain as the unforgettable song in my music career.
"Airplane".
I might have reached a high point in my life.
I might have reached the peak of my career. I'm not sure.
If I can go further. I do want to go further, honestly.
They say the more you get, the more you want!
At this point... At what I think is a time of success
I felt really proud to write this song.
Even after some time passes, when I listen to this song,
it will mean a lot to me.
This is the last one among 7 tracks.
It's titled "Blue Side". Let's take a listen.
I made this song 3 years ago, everyone.
I think I made it after "1 VERSE".
Is it 3 years ago?
It's been about 3 years.
There was really no big agenda.
At that time... I don't know.
I think I was really into something blue, some blue vibe.
I liked the wind and the sky.
This song brings back my memories.
I want to go back in time when I was so young and clueless.
The blue sky and wind and full of good memories.
I want to go back to the "Blue Side". "Back to Blue Side".
That's what this song is about.
This song is outro for no specific reason.
I just thought it would make a nice song to round up the album.
It's outro, everyone. It's short.
Why is it outro?
Yeah.
So the album "Hope World", my mixtape is revealed.
This concludes the introduction of the album.
A round of applause, please!
Almost 1 million viewers are watching this.
The number of comments is reaching 2,5 million right now.
I can't see the heart count.
The heart count...
Is it 160 million?
That's amazing!
Yeah.
You've sent so many hearts.
OK, everyone. I feel very proud.
This sense of fulfillment I'm feeling is worth the hard work last year.
As you're making a fresh start,
I hope these songs will serve as great energy for you.
I hope the mixtape will be great encouragement to you.
This mixtape means a lot to me.
Mixtape is usually supposed to be kind of rough.
While I worked on the project,
I thought making a compilation of original songs a lot.
But... In fact, I wanted something more than that.
As BTS' global reputation grew,
there are more people interested in our music.
So I wanted to present a quality album for a lot of people.
So I started creating tracks to show my very own style.
I received the songs from talented composers.
It was as if I was making an official album.
That's how this became a little different mixtape
than regular mixtape.
I put a lot of time and efforts into it,
because I wanted to present quality music to you.
If it's good, it's all good.
To present great music,
I will continue to work hard to become a better artist.
It's been exactly an hour since I started V LIVE.
I'd like to wrap it up now.
To my fans who've looked forward to it and supported me,
and the public who will listen to my music,
I'd like to say that I appreciate it once again.
Thank you.
My passion for music won't change.
As I mentioned earlier, the more I get, the more I want.
I want to make better music.
Whether it be myself or a group,
I want to create great music.
I'm still working hard, so please look forward to it.
Please keep supporting me.
I've worked for over a year for this moment.
I put so much time into this project.
Everyone, I love you too.
I truly appreciate your support.
Please check out my album "Hope World" and give your support.
Thank you. Heart!
I'm really happy to see your comments.
There are so many people who're rooting for me.
I can make music thanks to you.
Though I still have a long way to go, I will keep improving myself
and work hard to improve my skills as an artist, everyone.
I hope you enjoy my music and give me a lot of love and support.
Thank you.
Someone said, "I'm happy to be back in school".
I'm happy for you.
"I'm happy thanks to J-Hope".
I'm happy thanks to you.
And another thing! I'll wrap it up after this.
Let me talk about the music video.
There is a really interesting story about the MV.
A BTS member appears in the MV.
Look for him.
Check out the music video and look for him.
Guess who's in the music video and in which scene!
Time to go, everyone. Thank you.
"Shout out to my Hope World".
Thank you. Bye!
