I will enjoy the release of iOS 12 to talk to you about notifications.
This is a subject that I want you talk for a long time, I had noted in my list.
I benefit because there are new features that Apple has added in notifications with iOS 12.
We will already see how it works and what it is.
A notification is a visual or audible alert that you will receive from an application
who wants to tell you that you have received a message, that there is a new level in a game, etc.
and you'll see that we can really fine-tune exactly what kind of alert we want
and above all we will see how to disable some notifications.
When you install a new application often the first thing it asks you
it's: "Can I send you notifications?"
If you answered "Yes" almost everywhere you will see that it is possible to go back
and in the settings, we will be able to disable notifications apps that bother you.
We will go to the settings,
we will go down on "Notifications" here, and we will see in detail all the options therein.
We can decide to "Show previews" of the notifications so instead of just
I'll show you by opening the Notification Center here, for example for Twitter,
I set them so that it does not show me preview when I receive notifications,
so I just have the information that the Twitter application to 3 notifications to send me. For Instagram
on the other hand, I did not disable the preview so I have the names of people and the same for Youtube Studio.
We can therefore decide to display the previews "Always", "If the device is unlocked" or "Never".
If you really want to keep secret notifications or if you're afraid someone will reactive
your phone - without unlocking it - but still offering a preview of notifications,
choose the option: "Never".
Thanks to the Shortcuts app I told you about in a previous video, Siri can help you
suggestions and you can also decide what Siri can suggest depending on the applications.
Then, we will be able to choose the style of notifications application by application.
For example I will take the App Store and here I can decide to allow or not the
App Store notifications on the first line.
If I do not want to receive notifications from the App Store, I will simply disable them
and the App Store will never bother me again with its notifications.
I am talking about the App Store but this setting is valid for any other application,
since if I go back here you see that there are all the apps that are installed on my phone.
Application by application, I will be able to choose if I want notifications or not.
and if I accept notifications, I will be able to define which types of notifications.
We will go back to the first example which is the App Store.
Once you have allowed notifications, you can choose the type of alert you want:
you can choose to have alerts when the screen is locked. At that time, even if your
iPhone is on the side, in standby with its black screen, the screen will reactivate and show you a notification.
You can choose if you want this notification to be added in the Notification Center
and finally we can decide whether we want banners. A banner is a small window
which will go down from the top of the screen down to show you the notification.
You can activate all three alerts or you can activate only the ones you want!
If I decide to activate banners, for example, I'll have a banner style to define here:
a temporary banner: the notification will go down from the top of the screen and it will go up,
a persistent banner: the notification will stay at the top of the screen until I delete it
or until I open the notification.
We can also define if we want the application displays a pellet,
the pellets are the little red circles that you have for example here on Twitter,
I have a tablet that tells me that I have 3 notifications.
You enable or disable this option depending on what you want to appear on the screen.
The options here vary from one application to another and you will be able to decide again if you display
glimpses for this application since earlier viewing previews was a general setting
but you can apply by application define a finer setting.
We can group the notifications here by application automatically or not.
When I open the Notification Center here or on my locked screen notifications will be grouped together
by application. For example for Instagram, instead of having sixteen small windows,
there, I only have one that tells me that I have 15 others behind this small window.
So they are grouped together and it's really very convenient. Before the list was really too long ...
These are the settings you have to do for each application.
I really recommend you take ten minutes to fix all that,
and then of course disable anything that does not interest you specifically, what you do not need
to have in the immediate future. You can disable for example games, you can disable some
notifications not to be too much trouble.
At the Notification Center level, when you slide your finger from the top of the screen down,
you access missed notifications and notifications that you have missed
are set to display only in the Notification Center.
iOS 12 allows us today, by sliding our finger on a notification from right to left,
we have everything "Delete", "Show" and we have a new option called "Manage" and pressing on it
we can choose to disable sound alerts so "Distribute silently"
and you can also choose directly to disable the notifications for this application.
That's really good since we had a tendency to say to ourselves "Oh yes, I've received a notification
would disable later "while there we just have to slide the finger, to do" Manage "and to" Disable "
So that's really handy!
If you want to erase all notifications at once, you can
hold down the small cross here and choose "Clear all notifications".
Do not hesitate to go to "Sounds and vibrations" here to go further level settings,
the type of sounds that will be used for SMS, ringing, voicemail, e-mail, etc.
I hope you liked this video, if it is the case subscribe you it will please me.
See you soon 😀
