You know, if I only had one day to see, I don't know if I would want to see
Marilyn Monoe's dress blow up over a subway terminal.
Like, I think I'd rather see a naked woman.
You know, the real thing. Why have the tease when I only got one day.
So let me have a quick look.
[music plays] A question that comes up a lot is this one.
"Hey Tommy, if you had the opportunity what are some things that you'd like to see?"
What an interesting question that is.
There are so many things I've heard about and things that I even talk about
that I've never seen before so it's an interesting list.
So here it goes. Right off the top I think would
be me. I'd like to see myself. I'd like to see myself now,
and as a little kid. Right, so I could see how I grew and evolved
and stuff. You know, just what I was like then and now. I think that
would be very cool. I wonder if I'd recognize myself.
I'd like to see my family.
I'd like to see my mom and my dad and my sisters.
And all their children because they're all lovely. They're all great fun.
And I've known them for my whole life so of course
I'd want to see them. For a long time, I worked on the radio as a
traffic reporter and people always said,
"Oh, a guy who's never seen the traffic is reporting on the traffic."
I'd love to see three lanes of bumper to bumper traffic.
You know, that stretch out for miles. And then, of course, I'd like to see
a car crash too, because I've talked about thousands of them.
But I've never seen one.
[music plays} The sky is something
I'm fascinated by. I'd love to see it. Both day and nighttime
sky. Because the daytime sky is cool because
all the clouds going by and stuff and the sunshine...
There are several different types of clouds too so I'd like to get to see all that.
And then the nighttime sky must be awesome with all
the stars and the moon and all that stuff...
gillions of miles away that you guys can see. I'd love to see
a tall building. I've been in tall buildings,
I've been in World Trade. I don't really get an idea of how
big it is... how tall it is. It'd be very cool to be on the ground
and be able to look up like 1300-1400
in the sky and see the top of a building. The ocean
is something that's also fascinating to me. Listen, I've been in the ocean
a million times, ridden the waves, you know, body surfed
and that whole thing, and heard the sound of it, right.
But to actually look at it... oh, man.
See, the idea of being able to look out
at something that never ends is something that I'm completely
not familiar with. I have no concept to that. I don't know what that could be like.
I'd like to look at the planet Earth from space.
Like from the Hubble Telescope or from the space shuttle or something like that.
I've heard described as a big blue marble.
But, you know....
I guess you have to see it to believe it.
[music plays] I'd like to see a photo of anything...
just anything in a picture. I mean, I take pictures. I have an
Instagram account and I love taking pictures. So it would be nice to actually
see one. I'm not sure if I understand the concept of how to put a
3D thing on to a piece of paper.
I'd like to be able to see my phone
and use it silently. See the computer. I feel like I'm missing
so much by not being able to see the computer sometimes. I really do.
I'd like to see a whole bunch of something at once.
Like, maybe a hundred pennies at a time
or a hundred people at a time. That's one of those things I can feel but
to be able to just look at a hundred of them at once.
A movie or television show. You know, something on a screen, right.
I mean, I'm a huge movie fan.
I love movies. I love television.
But I've only ever listened to it. You know...
So that whole idea of the moving picture. Just to see
it all come together. Right? The music,
the sound effects, the dialogue, and the picture.
You know, to just watch that whole thing mesh and it becomes
this one thing. To me, it's all the audio that comes together to make
this thing, but to add a picture on top of it.
To be able to get that kind of emotion that comes from being able to look at
that picture. I would love to see CGI.
This I don't even understand. I mean, I know what it is. I know
what it stands for, but that they can just create
these things that aren't really there but look so cool
in the movies. Ho! That makes
my head hurt trying to think about that.
[music plays] I'd like to see the footage of the first man on the moon.
Maybe I could look at that myself and there's all these conspiracy
theories and stuff blowing all around about that thing.
Listen, I'd like to be able to see it so I could form my own opinion. I have my own opinions
on it now but to be able to watch it myself...
wow, yeah. Let me see. I would love to see
Paul McCartney... 1964
and like 1968. Because listen there's
a lot of conspiracy theories about Paul is dead. They say
Paul McCartney was killed in a car accident back in 1966
and replaced with a lookalike. And apparently there's a picture
of the two of them together, I'd love to see that.
Come to my own conclusion. You're watching this video right now going,
"Great. This guy's never seen his whole life and he want to see conspiracy
theories." [laughs]
[music plays] I would love to see sports. I'd love to watch
baseball. I'd love to see how it works. I'd like to see
a play in the sports that makes an entire bar room of people go,
"Woah!" That'd be cool.
I'd like to see football. I'd like to see somebody get tackled.
I couldn't imagine running down a field and having 11 guys trying to stop me.
You know what I'd like to see? Figure skating or
gymnastics. Some of those single Olympic events.
Because I put the Olympics on and it's just a nice piece of classical music
or a pop tune or whatever it is. I'd like to see the artistry
of that. I would love to see good looking people,
like a good looking woman and good looking man.
I hear all the time, "Oh, they're striking.
Oh, she's goes gorgeous. She's this, she's that. He's this, he's that."
I'd love to see that. Conversely I'd like see a hideous
man and woman as well. You know, a couple of just ugly people
so I could compare and contrast, right?
You know, some people that are just ugly and you look at them and go, "Ooh, man.
You fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, didn't you?"
[music plays] A couple things
from the world of art come to mind, right, like the Mona Lisa, for example.
I would love to see that. I mean, the one thing I always hear
about that is people can't believe how little it is
when they see it in person. Or the Sistine Chapel would be
very cool. Again, things I've heard about my entire life
and school, every where, that I'd never got the opportunity
to see. What about the drawings I did. You know, the different things that I've drawn
for you over the years and stuff. I would love to see those
and see how they compare to the real thing.
But then I'd have to see Picasso or something like that too because a lot of people
say it's very modern art like Picasso.
So then I'd need to see that so I have the point of reference. The pyramids
because that's one of those things that people always wonder, "How the heck
where these things built?" I'd love to see it, or The Sphinx.
That's supposed to be pretty awesome too. I'd like to see the
Great Wall of China. I get it, it's a wall, but
it's so long and high and everything. I'd like to see the
Grand Canyon. It's a hole in the ground, but millions of
tourists go there every year to check it out. Things in a hospital
I'd like to see, like surgery. Wow!
What must the inside of a human look like?
You know, and how much can you see when open somebody up?
Or child birth. I'd love to see child birth.
[gasp] The miracle life.
I'd be very cool. I don't know if I want to listen to it...
but I'd like to see it.
[music plays]
There are a lot of things that I've heard that are iconic. You know, these photos
or footage of things that they're not even all good.
But I'd love to see them. I heard about the Kennedy
assassination my entire life. Listen, I don't know if I'd be able
to give you any new clues into it, but...
I'd still like to see it anyway. World Trade. I'd love to see what
World Trade look like. I mean, two times. I'd like to see it
regular, and I'd like to see that video of it just
coming down. How about the Hindenburg, right?
I love that recording. "Oh, my, get out of the way, please." Like, he was the worst
news man in the world, but I'd love to see that thing crash.
The reporter himself during the coverage actually says
I'm going inside where I can't see it. That's how horrific it was.
Yeah, I'd like to see that. Listen,
I understand some of these things are horrible, but you got to understand I have
one day to see, you know, a limited time so I'm going to cram as much
in as I can. And it's not going to be all fun, you know.
I mean, if I were to get sight and then keep it forever,
it would be a completely different list.
And it wouldn't matter because I get to see everything.
So there it is...
that's a list of the some of the things that I would like to see.
Now, it's difficult right because I'm just sitting here talking to you so of course
I'm going to leave some things out. I mean, right now I'm just thinking and going,
"A reflection, I'd like to see that. Like a mirror
and a pool of water or something." Could you imagine I get this opportunity
to see and then a couple days later I'm like,
"Shoot! I forgot to look at that. Ah, man!"
[laughs] This is why this could never happen.
[music plays]
