The Oldest Plant-Like Fossils Ever - Duration: 5:56.

Figuring out the origins of life on Earth is like putting together a huge puzzle, where

all the pieces are buried in a bunch of rock and spread across the entire planet.

Scientists have to rely on tiny structural clues and some good old fashioned guesswork,

even just to decide if a fossilized cell is a bacterium or part of a plant.

And even then, it's hard to conclusively ID any really old fossils.

But in a paper published this week in the journal PLOS Biology, researchers from the

Swedish Museum of Natural History think that they found 1.6 billion year old red algae.

A lot of ancient fossils contain evidence of prokaryotic life, like bacteria.

Their cells don't have a nucleus to store DNA.

All plants and animals, including us humans, are eukaryotic, though.

Each of our cells has a nucleus and other specialized parts.

And, at some point, we all shared a common ancestor.

Problem is, it's hard to know when that first eukaryote popped up on Earth, since

it's so tough to find and identify the oldest fossils.

A paper published in 2000 identified one species of red algae from 1.2 billion year old fossils

found in arctic Canada, which used to be the oldest eukaryote scientists were pretty sure of.

It also happened to be the oldest complex multicellular organism we knew of, too – one

that seemed to have multiple cell types and a 3D body plan.

And now, these scientists think they've found two species of multicellular red algae

in some sedimentary rock from central India that dates back 1.6 billion years.

One of the fossils is made of thin filaments, divided into compartments that the researchers

think are cells.

Because of how big those cells are compared to the cells of other organisms, and some

distinct structures inside those cells, they think it's eukaryotic – specifically,

a kind of red algae.

It's hard to tell exactly what intracellular structures you're looking at just from a

fossil, because scientists don't know whether the shape and position of those structures

is the same as in a living organism.

But in each of these cells, in basically the same place, there's something roughly diamond-shaped.

And the scientists think this could be a pyrenoid, a kind of protein in algae chloroplasts that's

involved in making starch, which lets them store up carbon during photosynthesis.

The second fossil is more of a blob shape.

There are multiple masses of cells with different lobes – which looks like a structure called

a thallus.

Inside these thalli, there are some regions that look like bundles of filaments, called

cell fountains.

They're common structures in some red and brown algae.

So even though they can't be completely positive, the researchers have some pretty

good reasons to think that complex multicellular life was going strong 1.6 billion years ago,

way earlier than we thought!

They suggest this could be enough evidence to continue tweaking the timeline of early

life on Earth.

If these multicellular eukaryotes were already around 1.6 billion years ago, it's possible

that other complex organisms, like animals, may have started appearing millions of years

earlier than we thought.

Lots of other organisms came later in the tree of life.

And that includes our old pals, tardigrades.

They're adorable little extremophiles that can survive things that would kill most other

life, from freezing temperatures to high doses of radiation.

And scientists have been trying to figure out what's gives them these biological superpowers.

In a study published this week in Molecular Cell, researchers found a group of proteins

that probably protects them from desiccation, or being dried out.

Different organisms have different anti-desiccation strategies to protect their intracellular

bits.

For instance, some use a sugar called trehalose, or proteins that resist damage from heat,

or antioxidants.

But these researchers found certain genes that were activated to produce tardigrade-specific

intrinsically disordered proteins, or TDPs for short.

Now, when water gets sucked out of a tardigrade's cells, these TDPs start getting glassy – which,

in chemistry terms, means the proteins link together to form a jumbled, amorphous solid.

There are a couple ideas about how this protects everything inside.

One possibility is that this glass-like structure physically prevents all the other proteins

and junk in a cell from bunching up or unfolding, and it keeps any membranes from fusing together.

Kind of like the whole trapping-Han-in-carbonite thing.

Another hypothesis is that because TDPs typically have strong interactions with water, they

could replace the hydrogen bonds that water normally forms with different cell parts,

which protects against the same kinds of cellular damage.

Even though the researchers don't know the exact mechanism, they were able to test whether

TDPs can help other biological stuff stay safe after being dried out.

Turns out, they do!

Adding some TDPs to yeast, bacteria, and an enzyme called lactate dehydrogenase kept all

three of these things functioning after being desiccated and rehydrated.

So, not only are we one step closer to revealing tardigrade survival secrets, but maybe we

can borrow some of this knowledge for ourselves.

Not to, like, let us trek through deserts for weeks without water.

Although that would be kinda cool.

But knowing more about how tardigrades stay alive could be useful for things like creating

crops that are more drought-resistant, or helping us preserve and transport medicines

that typically need to be kept moist.

Which is not, like never drinking water again, but still pretty useful in the grand scheme

of things.

Is Newt Scamander a Spy in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? - Duration: 6:45.

Hello.

Welcome back to Fantastic Secrets Behind Fantastic Beasts.

I'm Susan Sipal.

In one of my last videos, I covered the theory that Newt Scamander might be acting as a secret

agent.

Now that Rowling seems to be hinting at the same idea through the newly edited Fantastic

Beasts text book, I thought it was time to cover the theory more in depth in its own

video.

I first covered this theory and others like it in my book Fantastic Secrets Behind Fantastic

Beasts and hope you'll check it out.

In my clue book, published shortly after the release of the film, I speculated that even

Newt's "real reason" for coming to the US to release Frank the Thunderbird was not

telling the whole story.

I pointed out certain clues: 1) He carries a map of NY City and directions.

Notice the magnifying glass atop the city map, as if to draw our attention to it.

Plus there is another curious map tucked away at the top with 2 locations circled, as if

he was tracking something.

And is this handwritten note the directions referred to later?

If anyone can read that circled map and handwritten note, please share in the comments.

2) Newt spends time wandering about the city clutching the directions with a case full

of magical creatures, suggesting further that he's looking for something or someone in

particular.

3), Tina said they closed down the Puffskein dealer a whole year ago.

In his business, Newt probably should have known this.

And finally 4), when Tina is hauling him in, he says, "Er— sorry, but I do have things

to do, actually."

(p. 36).

Newt is obviously looking for someone.

The question is: who?

What if Newt didn't merely stumble upon the Second Salemers?

You can see here in this first image at the bank that what seems to be attracting his

attention the most is their banner.

Of course, it could be merely the image of the broken wand that attracts him.

But what if his note, the one with directions, is directing him to seek them out?

In this second image, before Mary Lou ever calls out to him, Newt's interest has shifted

from fascinated tourist to focused and intense.

What if whomever gave him that note was already considering the Second Salemers as a source

of the Obscurus and directing Newt to check them out, as he has experience with such things?

In an earlier video, part 2 of my Secret Symbols

in the Pentagram, that I'm linking to here and in my description below, I explore certain

symbols hidden in both the pentagram at MACUSA and merchandising.

Newt's poster seems to suggest he might be linked to secret intelligence.

A key clue is the compass rose symbol attached to him, a symbol also used by the CIA.

Check the prior video for more detail

Rowling gives further credence to the spy theory by bringing it up to discount it in

the new foreword to the revised Fantastic Beasts text book.

She has Newt rejecting Rita Skeeter's claim that he was never a Magizoologist and only

used it as a cover to spy on MACUSA.

However, it is carefully worded to refute the idea that he was not a Magizoologist,

not that he was a spy.

Newt also goes on to say that the story of what he was doing then is slowly being declassified,

but can't be fully revealed yet.

In other words…he was doing something secret that the government classified.

Sounds like a spy to me.

So who is directing Newt's movements?

Not only does Graves bring up Newt's special relationship to Dumbledore, but in his Foreword,

Newt hints at it as well and mentions Dumbledore's private nature.

Of course, knowing Dumbledore's former relationship with Grindelwald and the probability that

his sister was an Obscurial, it seems highly likely that Dumbledore is keenly interested

in not only Grindelwald's movements, but any possible Obscurus sighting.

For sure, it's more than mere coincidence that Newt arrives in New York at the same

time that an Obscurus is attacking and that Grindelwald is following it.

What isn't clear is if Newt is in Dumbledore's full confidence yet.

Or is Dumbledore manipulating him much as he does Harry Potter 70 years later?

Newt is perhaps the only wizard who has personal experience of an Obscurial and how to separate

an Obscurus from the person.

And he has pledged, with Tina, to help Credence.

He has a very defined sense of his own personal mission and will not be easily manipulated

away from it.

As we know Newt and Tina will marry, we can see how Jo is setting them up to be very well

matched.

Tina cares for and protects the abused and misunderstood Credence as much as Newt does

his magical beasts.

And through witnessing Newt's devotion to his animals, she comes to care for them as

well.

Together, they have pledged to protect and help Credence.

And I believe will work together for this in future films.

Finally, Newt's secret agenda is matched by Tina's work as an Auror with MACUSA.

So, what does Newt's role as a possible spy mean for future films?

I think we'll see Newt, Tina, and Team working together to prevent Grindelwald from weaponizing

Credence.

Then, there are Newt's beasts to consider.

While he definitely seeks to protect them, we've also seen him use them as weapons

and know that he worked with Ukrainian Ironbellies during the first World War.

Might his secret work also involve him using his animals for defense?

Finally, we'll see Newt's relationship with Dumbledore and how it expands.

But while Harry was a child under Dumbledore's tutelage, Newt is not.

He's a grown man, with his own mission in life fully defined.

I expect that he'll fight against Dumbledore's manipulations just as much as he helps in

their common objectives.

Here are a couple of other interesting tidbits about Newt from the revised Fantastic Beasts

text book.

Newt mentions the largest memory charm of the 20th century having been performed on

a beach in England.

But, surely, wiping out the memory of all New York City tops that.

Although this is not new to the revised version, we're also reminded of Newt's age.

He would have been around 29 at the time of the first movie, and should be about 48 by

the end of the series.

And, finally, one key word was changed in his About the Author bio – it now says "upon

leaving Hogwarts" rather than graduating from.

Which is the start of Rowling clearing up the confusion regarding Newt being expelled.

I've posted a link to the new edition below in the description, so be sure to get your

copy.

What do you think about Newt's secret agenda?

Dragon Ball Super: Will there be another Super Saiyan transformation? 💥 - Duration: 7:17.

will there be another Super Saiyan

transformation

what's up everybody Lee the

fourth coming at your once again with

another dragon ball super related video

i just wanted to whip this up real quick

and discuss with you guys whether or not

you think that another super saiyan

transformation is a possibility I for

one think that it is I've been thinking

about this for a while now but before we

dive into that let's go ahead and go

over all the different transformations

we'll make it real quick first off we

have the Oozaru that was the first

transformation we really ever saw back

in the Dragon Ball day obviously you

have to be a saiyan you have to have your

tail and you can turn into a giant

monkey at the side of the moon then we

finally get to the legendary

transformation that we all love I'm

gonna slap my model when I first saw the

transformation super saiyan and then we go

on to Super Saiyan 2 well hold up let me

not forget the Ascended Super saiyan

where they got all bulky and beast out

the very slow as hell it wasn't very

efficient then from there we get super

saiyan 3 one of the dopest looking Super

Saiyan transformation I think that is

beautiful i love it some people think

that it looked a little too wild I kind

of do every day like the removing of the

eyebrows I me maybe they would just put

the eyebrows back it would look a little

bit better then we get to Super Saiyan

God the magenta red colored form that

Goku first access with the help of you

know the other saiyans and battle of gods

now this form actually looks pretty sick

to me I like it I like the kind of

slender build and I like that they

didn't try to go you know more crazy

with us I'm fine with the way that looks

but I always thought that since goku

was basically in base form you know his

appearances base form but he just has

different color hair they should have

called it Saiyan God not super saiyan god

so that way when we got some super

saiyan blue or Super Saiyan God Super

Saiyan which is a fucking ridiculous

name they could just call it Super

Saiyan god I think that would have been

much better much more smooth with a roll

off the tongue a lot easier I said I

kind of backed themselves into a corner

with you know Super Saiyan God Super

Saiyan so they kind of had to come up

with something more simplistic so that's

where super saiyan blue came from but if

they were just called saiyan god Super

Saiyan God we would never have that damn

problem I don't know what the fuck they

were thinking during the naming

shit i know from you Dragon Ball GT fans are

thinking Harry what about super saiyan 4

I personally hate through super saiyan 4 for I

think it looks fucking ridiculous at

least for the saiyans I think I'm able to

gave that look or you know Goku and

Vegeta looked like to Billings or two

separate characters i would like that

better but personally on them you know

the red eyeliner shit the monkey first

up I don't know man i thought it was

fucking dumb i like you so yeah that's

where we're at right now super saiyan

blue and it's kind of been the main form

for a little wild now ever since

resurrection of F which Frieza and if

you really think about it maybe it

hasn't been that long but if you kind of

you know you you know the former

episodes from dragon ball z and all that

you can kind of pinpoint when they might

possibly bring another transformation in

because super saiyan lasted for you know

the end of the Frieza saga all the way

up through the cell saga to the end of

the cell saga you got Super Saiyan 2 and

then you know from there to like kinda

like midway through the Majin Buu saga

you got super saiyan 3 and then from

there if you want to count Dragon Ball GT I'm not

going to lie i generally watch it i was

fucking like it but i know that about

halfway through he stops being a little

kid again and he ends up going super

saiyan 4 so i was saying about halfway

through that arc and from the beginning

of dragon ball super a battle of gods

you know you get another transformation

and that quickly turned into the super saiyan

blue with the very next arc and now it's

been a decent time link we've had you

know the universe 6 and 7 tournament

battle we've had the black some awesome

stuff we dig it super saiyan rose in

that art but that's more you know you

need just to him i don't think that

that's a form that anyone else can get

just kind of like goku was like really

the only one that got super saiyan 3 so

I think super saiyan rose we cant count

as the next you know evolution of the

transformations but I think that that's

just you know you need to helm so that's

why I don't want to really you know back

to that in I'm thinking of what is the

next form for a goku vegeta now judging

by the way things have gone i was

showing that the next form will most

likely be reached by goku again and it

might be different maybe the Vegeta gives

all variation of something later or

maybe he won't be able to reach it but

with the way things are going I feel

like he'll reach the form just the same

as goku but not honesty I feel

personally that they should just do one

more major super saiyan

transformation and it's like the

ultimate form and then they should

probably make that no the highest

transformation you can get it I'm not

saying power wise you can get stronger

within that for maybe they make that a

form that has infinite possibilities if

you achieve this formula of infinite

possibilities will grow stronger

exponentially no matter what but you

know most of the time and dragonball

every time they get a certain level

strength they transcend into a next

transformation now personally I just

feel like it's starting to get a little

out of hand it's like all right how many

different transformations can there be i

know this is a Dragonball stable and

every time they do another

transformation I think it's going to be

whack but it's always though so maybe

they can just keep it going infinitely

and will always enjoy it but I feel like

in order to avoid repetitive mess or in

order to avoid you know kind of jumping

the shark because it feels like next

thing you know they're going to be like

a rainbow headed fucking Super Saiyan

transformation and I feel like it's just

going to get a little bit too wacky for

me so I think that there will be another

transformation I hope it's the final one

and like I said I hope it's like a form

that allows them to continue to get

stronger no matter what and then they

can always you know bounce back in

between the other like 27

transformations they have because

there's going to be another time for you

know goes to ascend to another

transformation what better time than now

when he's fighting all these different

strong words from all these other

universes and he'll really be able to

show a great display of power you know

in front of all these different

universes as we were to transform in

front of them you know to another

ascension another level because they

already got their mind blown these times super saiyan

blue I just think that that would be

super dope for them to give Goku another

transformation or even vegeta maybe

Vegeta can do it first this time who

knows I don't care but I think there

will be at least one more Super Saiyan

transformation and I think that it will

be unveiled during the universe survival

arc what do you guys think you guys

think I'm crazy do you think my ideas

Ask the Gooch AMA - Episode 1 - Duration: 11:22.

Ask the Goooooch!

Okay. This is "Ask the Gooch."

In this series, I'll collect questions from the fans and broadcast the answers.

First episode, here we go.

So, let's take a look at our questions.

Hmmm...

Yes.

So, we've received quite a few questions, as you can see.

First question.

Happy Sad Person-san.

Thank you very much.

This is a question about console games.

Let's see...

"What is the future of Mistwalker's console game development?"

Yes, so you're curious about what's going to happen with our console lineup.

Let's talk about Terra Battle.

My game you can download on iOS and Android.

I've created this system called Download Starter,

where we bring in more artists and composers to collaborate as more people download the game.

Our 2 million download goal was to get started on a Terra Battle console game.

I made that promise long time ago.

I'm definitely working on it. I've written the script and I'm trying to work out the systems

But the production is not going as fast as I want it to.

Still, we're trying hard to get it done.

We'll make it good.

How am I doing so far? Good?

Let's move onto the next question.

This one is from Brian... Brian Tbz.

Tbz, correct?

Brian-san.

"Hello, Mr. Gooch."

You're asking if there's someone I've never collaborated with but want to.

Let's see. Of course, there are many people I'd love to work with.

To name one person in particular, I brought this artwork today.

Do you recognize it?

This is Moebius. He's a master.

It was back when I was in high school, so a while ago.

I picked up an artbook of his in a bookstore for the first time and was blown away.

The world of Moebius and his designs have significantly influenced

the Japanese game and anime industries,

and the impact he had on me when I was a teen has stayed with me to this day.

This is just a great drawing, isn't it?

The world of Moebius is so unique.

If I ever had the chance to make a game with him,

that would have been a dream come true.

There are other creators I admire, of course.

Not only just in art but in music. I want to collaborate with them.

Through the Terra Battle Download Starter,

we've been able to work with many artists and musicians.

So, I'm looking forward to meeting new creators that way.

Alright, next question.

From So... What? So Gars Loul-san.

So Gars Loul?

So Gars Roll? Loul?

"Where do the Hiso aliens come from?"

What the hell are the Hiso aliens... Great question.

Ta-da! Here is an article.

This was released on December 2, 2014 by NASA.

Two weeks before this, NASA said they would make a ground-breaking announcement about extraterrestrial life.

And people like me all around the world jumped up and down in excitement.

I thought they must've found some kind of evidence that space creatures or space bacteria exist.

I was like, "Even better, maybe they foud a dead alien body or something." That's how excited I was.

But guess what? The announcement was just that they found an arsenic bug.

Arsenic is Hiso in Japanese. Hiso means arsenic.

It was just some bacteria that can live on arsenic that was found in some lake on Earth.

"If the creature can survive only on arsenic, there's a good possibility that it's from outer space." How boring!!!

Everyone was so disappointed.

I was so upset that I took out a white lego figure and wrote "Hiso (arsenic)" on it with a marker.

When we heard the big Hiso news, what we expected was something like our Hiso alien.

That is how the Hiso alien character was born.

I've used it as a mascot in my games ever since.

I'm secretly hoping it will eventually be a major success.

Let's move on.

The next one is from...

Lillth...Sahl. Lillthsahl?

Litthisahl?

Litthisahl?

By the way, is it Ask the Gucci? or Ask the Gooch?

Which is it? I don't even know that.

Ask the Gooch? Ask the Gucci? I'm not sure.

"What is your ideal bowl of ramen?"

Yes! About ramen! Ramen!

I love ramen.

I have a favorite place I frequent.

Check this out. Do you all know Ginza?

Near Ginza, there is an alley that takes you back to 50 years ago.

Actually, it's not there anymore. Sadly, it had to go recently due to construction. But it existed till recently.

In this alley, there's a ramen place called Tani.

Their ramen tastes very old school.

These days, tonkotsu-based broth is all the rage, even in the US and France.

But their ramen is old school and has a very nostalgic taste.

Their broth is clear and soy sauce-based, and it's simply topped with bamboo shoots, seaweed, and a char siu.

The homemade bamboo shoots are especially delicious.

Everytime I eat it, it brings back memories and I kind of tear up.

Remember the name, Tani. It moved from the Marusan Yokocho location in the picture to a different spot nearby.

So, if you're ever in Tokyo, give it a try. I highly recommend it.

By the way, ramen used to be served at yatai (food stalls) long ago.

This is called a "Riya Car" and has two wheels. It must be pushed manually.

It has everything you need to make ramen inside.

They would come rattling down the street.

When you heard the sound of their horns, you'd go down and say, "Ramen please."

We don't see them much anymore.

But Tani's ramen reminds me of yatai like this.

I miss these yatai. I want them to make a comeback.

Which is not, like never drinking water again, but still pretty useful in the grand scheme

of things.

Since the recording at the time of image quality setting is displayed by selecting the "720p HD" or "480P SD", and then touch the "Start"

Then the game app you will see a floating balloon for video recording at the same time when you start

Because even if you exit the game app of this time will remain floating balloon was displayed,

It is why it is possible to perform recording by applying this

After you touch the record button of the floating balloon in the timing of the recording

Record button when you touch recording after 3 seconds is started, and you will be recording and stop by touching the record button again

By the way, there is no pause function

Recorded videos are saved in the "Screencasts" folder is in the "Movies" folder of internal storage

In addition sound on / off the microphone button, the video button allows you to switch the wipe window using the front camera on / off each

You can also minimize the buttons by touching the floating balloon center

Play-by-play recording of screen capture feature game play of "Google Play Game" is, of course,

It is useful, for example, when you take a video that introduced the method of operation of Android

Please by all means try to reference

Or more, was the introduction of the method also recorded "Google Play Game" screen other than the screen capture function by using the game of
