Jakub Mareczko's Wilier Cento10AIR Pro Bike - Duration: 3:56.
(techno music)
- Today's pro bike is this
Wilier Cento Dieci Air
of the young sprinter from Italy, Jakub Mareczko,
who actually hails from Poland.
We'll get onto that in a few moments time with his nickname,
which you can see on the stem.
Now Wilier is a company from Italy
that has now been around for over 110 years,
and they launched this brand new, aerodynamic model
in the middle part of 2016.
It claims a 3% reduction in aerodynamic drag,
and Mareczko has certainly been using it to great success.
He's had a number of pro victories.
You might remember his name from the 2016 Tour de San José.
There he was riding for the Italian national team
and he beat his teammate at the time,
Elia Viviani, to the line.
And Viviani wasn't best pleased.
Mareczko, a very fast sprinter and you should definitely keep
your eyes out for him in the future.
Now Wilier, along with this very striking red frame
also provide this one piece stem and handlebar combination
called the Alabarda,
which comes in at 390 grammes all together.
It's also a custom seat post there,
although provided by Ritchey who of course
make lots of different seat posts, bars and stems.
Selle Italia provide a couple of the finishing parts
including the saddle up the top which is the team edition,
as well as the bar tape with some fairly subtle,
Selle Italia logos throughout the black tape.
One of the interesting things
is that the Wilier Triestina team,
despite not being at the world tour level,
but being a pro-continental outfit,
are one of the very few teams here at Dubai Tour
who have managed to get their hands
on the brand new Shimano Di2 groupset.
The only other one we've spotted so far are Team Sky.
So that goes here from the shifters
to the satellite shifters on the drops,
the front and rear brakes,
the front and rear derailleurs and the cassette as well.
There's really only a couple of deviations to that,
they being the pedals,
which are the Time Xpresso Carbon Pedals,
don't see too many of them in the World Tour.
And also the crankset,
and that is because he's running an SRM.
Now interesting as well, if you look down here,
he's actually running a 54 tooth outer ring
and it says 46, but I think they've just stolen
that ring from a time trial bike.
I haven't actually counted how many teeth
are on the inner ring,
but I'd imagine that it is slightly less than 46.
Now the wheels come from Ursus,
and along with the bright red frame they do,
as you can see, stand right out.
You might not have heard of them as a wheel company,
but I can tell you, they have been around
for quite some time, 1967.
They are in fact in their 50th year this year.
This is the T47 Miura version of the wheels
which are 47 millimetres in depth.
The tyres which are mounted on to the wheels
are provided by Vittoria,
those are the Corsa Tubular, 25 millimetre version.
I think that's pretty much it, in terms of the components,
but you might be wondering where this comes from up here.
Kuba, that is simply a nickname that a lot of people
from Poland get if they're called Jakub.
So Jakub did come from Poland,
moved to Italy when he was five,
and is now a part of the Italian national team
when he competes on international world championship races.
I have been doing some measurements,
as you can see he's quite a compact rider,
and his distance from the centre of the cranks
up to the saddle is just a little under 70cm,
and from the tip of the saddle to the centre of the bars,
it is around about 50cm,
despite the fact that he is actually running
a 12cm stem here.
Right, time to weigh the thing.
So this one is coming in at 7.35 kilogrammes.
One thing I did fail to mention was that
the bottle cages here are provided by Elite.

and beyond.
All you've got to do for that is to click on the globe,
at which point you can then watch
one of the following two videos.
Down there, Si Richardson takes a very close look
at this brand new Shimano Dura Ace group set.
Or, just down there Mr. Caley Fretz of VeloNews
