What questions are we not asking that you think

we ought to be asking?

This is just an obsession of mine, right, so it's not

look, you've asked all the right questions

they're really interesting questions, you know the right

questions to ask.

One of the things that has interested me lately

is the question of inequality.

So, one of the things we do in schools is we

we insist on inequality, so let me give you an example

I'm working here now around reform of the medical curriculum

here at the University of Illinois and we've got students

using scholar to do clinical case studies

in medicine, which is a graduate in US terms

post-graduate in Australia and English terms, a degree.

So these are incredibly bright students who've got top

of the class and pretty affluent too because they

can afford these very high fees and you know, they can

get a scholarship to do them.

What we insist, so what we've done is we've sifted out society

around inequality, this is an elite, we've already done that

sifting, and then we keep insisting on inequality

which is we want to put them across the normal distribution curve

which is, and the normal distribution curve for assessment

is something like, you've done really well

look at all you, you're pretty mediocre, and you people are stupid

and what we do in every classroom is we want to

do that and our assessment systems do that.

So one of the things I've become interested in

is how do we genuinely move towards standards

based education. Now the standards idea

is radically different

and in America there are two things which are reviled

as phrases, one is "no child left behind"

which was the George Bush slogan in the George Bush

regime, in fact built jointly with Teddy Kennedy in fact

people don't know it was a cross the aisle thing

to build the No Child Left Behind, which was this

incredible testing regime, and then the other thing

that's reviled, is the Obama regime created

a thing with the same phrase "every child succeeds"

so the new federal legislation law that Obama created

was called the ESSA (Every Child Succeeds Act)

Have I got the acronym right? Anyhow, so, these two

phrases, which are reviled, but the interesting thing is

they're both kind of revolutionary phrases because

what they say is that if we set a standard

we want to move every learner to that standard

and we want to

and it's possible, you know, they may have different paces.

Some students may need extra assistance

to reach that standard, they may do it a different time

so what we do with the test is we choose one point

in time and measure students against each other

in fact we should be measuring people on a

horizontal dimension which is your progress towards

meeting the standard which everyone can meet.

So one of the challenges we have in education I think

is actually around building a culture and a logic

of equality and ironically it aligns with these

things which are reviled, like "no child left behind"

let's take that seriously, "every child succeeds"

let's take that seriously.

That means we have to change our assessment architectures

so the recursive feedback idea

that I was mentioning before which means

we shift assessment, the focus of assessment

from summative to formative, we build a composite

picture of formative assessment over time

but what we're always saying is OK, you've only reached

this point, but we'll give you more and more formative

assessment as you move forward

and you can reach the same point as another student

perhaps a little bit later, right?

So rather than just taking a slice of time

and insisting on inequality, why in education

must we insist on inequality.

Am Dienstagabend wurde wieder getauscht und gesungen, als es hieß „Sing meinen Song - das Tauschkonzert" (20

15 Uhr, Vox). Im Mittelpunkt des Abends stand Pop-Sängerin Leslie Clio (31). Johannes Strate überraschte mit Metal-Version Revolverheld-Sänger Johannes Strate (38) hatte sich in den Vorbereitungen auf Leslies Tauschkonzert schnell für ihren Song „Damage done" entschieden

Noch leichter fiel dem 38-Jährigen aber die Entscheidung, wie seine Version dieses Songs klingen soll: nach New-Metal

Damit zeigte er dann den anderen Künstlern eine komplett neue Seite von sich – und die kam richtig gut an, vor allem bei Leslie

Johannes Strate: „Das hat mit dem Original wirklich nichts mehr zu tun"Vor seinem Auftritt gab der Bremer allerdings zu: „Meine Version hat mit dem Original wirklich nichts mehr zu tun

"Er fand nämlich, dass Clios Version von „Damage done" noch deutlich „mehr nach vorne gehen könnte"

Deswegen wollte Strate am Dienstag noch „eine kräftige Schüppe drauflegen". Und das hat sich gelohnt

Denn Clio belohnte den Revolverhelden mit der Konfetti-Kanone und somit wurde seine Metal-Version von „Damage done" zum „Song des Abends" gekürt

Erste Staffel 2014Seit 2014 wird „Sing meinen Song – Das Tauschkonzert" auf Vox ausgestrahlt

Seitdem kommen jedes Jahr sieben deutsche Sänger aus den verschiedensten Musik-Genres zusammen

Jeder Abend ist einem anderen Musiker gewidmet. Die anderen Interpreten singen dann jeweils in ihrem eigenen Stil ein Lied des anderen Musikers

Der Interpret des Abends kommt aber auch zum Zuge und darf seinen aktuellen Song singen und am Ende den Song des Abends, also der Song, der ihm am besten gefallen hat, küren

Der Gastgeber führt durch die AbendeIn einer weiteren Folge singen die Künstler ausgewählte Lieder im Duett

Von der ersten bis zur dritten Staffel war Xavier Naidoo der sogenannte Gastgeber, der Moderator der Sendung

Seit der vierten Staffel 2017 führen Alec Völkel und Sascha Vollmer von „The BossHoss" durch die Show

Avant de démarrer la tournée promo de Tamara 2, qui sortira au cinéma le 4 juillet 2018, Rayane Bensetti est actuellement en plein tournage de son nouveau film Let's dance

Let's dance met en scène le jeune comédien ainsi que Guillaume de Tonquédec ou encore Brahim Zaïbat et Alexia Giordano (Versailles)

Le tournage, démarré le 16 avril 2018 et qui s'achèvera dans quelques jours en juin, est ambitieux

Il s'agit en effet d'adapter au public français le genre, très populaire outre-Atlantique, du film de danse grâce au réalisateur Ladislas Chollat, jusque-là spécialisé en spectacles musicaux (Résiste)

Selon les premières infos révélées par Allociné, Rayane Bensetti incarne Joseph, passionné de danse hip-hop, qui défie son industriel de père pour tenter un concours international de la discipline

Un drame va survenir et Joseph va être recueilli par Rémi (Guillaume de Tonquédec), un ex-danseur étoile devenu enseignant qui l'initie à la danse classique

Pour incarner avec crédibilité son personnage, Rayane Bensetti va devoir assurer lui-même d'impressionnantes chorégraphies imaginées par Marion Motin qui a travaillé avec Stromae ou Christine and the Queens

L'entraînement Danse avec les stars, que Rayane Bensetti avait gagné en saison 5 aux côtés de Denitsa Ikonomova, va payer ! Rayane Bensetti confie à nos confrères : "J'ai vraiment fait mes premiers pas de danse dans Danse avec les stars

[Cinematic] Kitsuki Castle - Oita - 杵築城 - 4K Ultra HD - Duration: 2:40.

First built in 1394 by the fourth daimyo Kizuki Yorinao and located in the city of Kitsuki in Oita prefecture

the Kitsuki Castle is, believe it or not, Japan's smallest and obviously cuttest caste!

Belonging to the Kitsuki Clan, and for almost fourteen generations and until the end of the 16th century,

today's castle is unfortunately not the very same built back in 1394 and has suffered many natural disasters

over the centuries and it is only in 1970 that it was decided to rebuild the castle from the ground up.

Because of its size the best way to enjoy the castle is either from the air or far away

from one of Kitsuki city's many vantage points over this small, yet beautiful castle.

How to Paint backgrounds in SAI that make your artwork come alive! #1 | How to paint a foggy morning - Duration: 14:21.

Hey everyone! This is Lucia from paintingdreamscapes.com! Thank you all so much

for taking my survey and letting me know what you needed help with in terms of

improving your art. One of the most requested tutorials was how to create

amazing backgrounds that make your artworks come alive I know how hard it

is to create a background let alone make the characters feel like they belong in

that background rather than being copy pasted in it. That's what we're here to

learn today. I'm going to show you how you can create amazing backgrounds that

are both simple and effective. So, let's get started!

This is paint tool SAI's main dashboard. The first thing you need to know is that

I've created a set of color swatches for you to use. These are the colors we'll be

using in this tutorial to show you how effective choosing the right colors can

be in making an amazing background. I'm going to give this to you so that you

can practice but eventually I want you to be able to choose your own colors

without relying on my own color swatches or anyone else's

So, the first thing we're going to do is use the bucket tool to fill the whole

canvas using the darkest color from the color swatches. This will represent the

whole sky and this is what we're going to work with. Now choose the medium color

and pick the airbrush tool. The airbrush tool needs to be at full density, size, and

minimum size. Choose the color in the middle of our color swatches and paint a

line in the middle. We're creating a gradient in the sky from the top to

bottom with the darkest part being at the top and the brightest part being at the

bottom because we're creating a sunrise scene. The bottom part represents where

the Sun is starting to rise, that's why it's brighter and more yellowish. So now

that we have our gradient we need to blend it all together so that it will be

smooth. So, choose the water tool and start blending everything together. The

water tool needs to be at the biggest possible size to make this process

easier and add the full density too and the minimum size needs to be set at a

100% percent as well. Blend everything together until you can't tell where the

colors meet. It's just a smooth gradient and it's looking gorgeous. I love these

colors. It's already looking like a like a really foggy morning sky. I love it!

so maybe we could make the sky a bit darker at the top just to make it pop so

let's use a bit darker color and paint some more at the top, just a little bit

and we can do the same at the bottom if you feel like the the sky down there

could be a bit brighter, you can do that too

it's your choice really

You don't have to do this if you don't want to just make sure that you blend

everything together afterwards again to make sure everything is as smooth as

possible

So we're going to start painting our clouds now to do this we'll

use the airbrush tool and set it to a relatively medium size and the minimum

size setting needs to be set to 0% to make sure that the pen pressure in our tablets will work

Set the density to roughly 50% to so that

it's not fully solid and you're able to create brighter and darker areas

depending on the density and the pressure of your pen. Use a darker hue

like a bit darker than the sky. Make sure it's not gray because then your clouds

will look weird...Just a bit darker than the hue of the sky and I'm creating

clouds and my shapes are very basic. You're welcome to Google some better

cloud shapes to make them look more realistic. The only thing that matters

really, is the colors and to make sure that the clouds at the top of the sky

look bigger than the ones at the bottom of the sky, because doing this will help

create depth of field in your artwork. It will look like the clouds at the top are

bigger because they're closer to the viewer and the clouds that are smaller

are that size because they're further away from the viewer and they will

really create a depth of field in your artwork that will bring it to life

In this area that is brighter because the Sun is there, you can use a brighter

color and not have such dark clouds but feel free to test with different colors

and shapes and see what you like best. For example, a super white cloud at the

top it just doesn't look good, and same would go for a super dark cloud at the

bottom where the Sun is illuminating them so they will look really weird if

they were too dark... So, yeah, another thing that you can do is choose a texture for

your airbrush for example the spread texture at 100% percent really

creates a lovely texture in your clouds that make them look super fluffy so I do

recommend that you use this setting when you're creating clouds just to make them

a little bit more more fluffy and beautiful and I just love clouds...

Just repeat the process with the rest of the clouds. In the middle areas you can use

brighter clouds that are more white and they will look incredible

just play with the colors and the textures and have fun! That's what matters

the most and you enjoy the process, because if you're not enjoying the

process of creating art... then you're doing something wrong. So just enjoy

everything. It doesn't have to be perfect from the start. There's magic in testing

things and seeing what works what doesn't and that's it! Just enjoy it

I decided to replace that cloud that was there with a brighter one because it

just didn't look good to me. So I'm now painting a whiter cloud. I'm going to

speed up the process... wheeeew! Look how fast I paint a cloud! Okay! This is the part I

wanted to show you this is the part where I am using a color very similar

to that of the sky to create a shadow area in the cloud. Doing this gives the

cloud more of a shape and more volume and it looks more realistic. So feel free to

play with that too if you want to. But if you just want to go for simple just

the white cloud will be enough. Now I'm creating even more clouds... because why not

and if you set the density of your airbrush to 40% or less you can use that

to create a fluffier cloud by using pressure on your pen on the areas that

you want to be darker and less pressure on the areas that you want to be lighter

Now I'm creating the clouds at the bottom of the sky where the Sun is

supposed to be and notice how smaller they are in comparison to the top clouds

They are smaller, thinner, and there are more of them because since they are

farther away we can see more clouds at the same time. So I am drawing more and

making them smaller now I am going to bring the characters to the front and

center of the piece so that we can start including them in the background and

making them look like they belong there, like they're not copy pasted in the

piece. I've painted some snow in the ground to separate the ground from the

sky and now to make sure the characters look like they truly belong in that

scene, like they really are in that area I am going to create some fog around

them. To do this I will use the airbrush with

the minimum size set to 26%or roughly 30% and the density

set to 40 % approximately. The airbrush is also set to the "Noise"

texture, or you can use the "Spread" texture. It's just something that will

make it look like the fog is in movement. So now you start airbrushing around them in

different areas to make it look as natural as possible and once you've

achieved... you've painted enough fog you can use the Water tool to blur to

blur them the fog and make it look like it's kind of smoky and play with this

until you feel happy with the results

Continue adding fog to different areas to make sure it looks natural like it's

not just in some parts of the drawing like it's everywhere.

Now create a new layer and set it to luminosity what this will do

is make the colors touch and look a lot brighter and shinier than they normally

would. So using an orange color I'm going to paint the Sun I'm going

to paint the Sun and airbrush nearby areas to illuminate them

as though the Sun was illuminating them. Using orange color to make sure it looks

so warm and like it's coming from the Sun... Play with it until you feel happy

with the results

and once you're happy you can even use the pen...

Oops! With the minimum size at 0% to ensure that the line has pen pressure

and it looks good, and then you can create like some sun rays. Also, set the

stabilizer to 15 to make sure the lines are smooth and not like... well, not

stabilized. See the difference? How smooth the lines are when you're using

stabilizer compared to when you're not?

So we can create some sunrays, some sunrays coming out of the Sun and

make it look super natural

You can use the water tool to blend the sunrays a bit, just so that they are not

like too obvious or stealing all the attention. And now you can use the

airbrush in the same Luminosity layer to add some... You know, sunshine

to each sunray and make it look beautiful. Now I'm adding some I'm airbrushing over the

characters to make them look shiny and like Sun is really shining in their

faces and you can even use a bit of purple in the same layer as well to

create like the areas that aren't illuminated by the light they will be a

bit bluer or purple or so that will also make it look more natural and like they

truly are in that setting. You can play with the hues and the saturation of your

background if you think it's not... You know, to your liking and you can tweak

take colors in the contrast and saturation to see what you like best and

if you think their faces look just too shiny you can always remove part of this

layer and then use the water tool to blend everything together again so that

it's a bit brighter but not so bright and just adjust it as you see fit

Inès de la Fressange soutient Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, une très belle association qui permet à des enfants atteints de malformations cardiaques de venir se faire opérer en France

Depuis huit ans, elle est la marraine de l'opération des Petits Déjeuners du coeur au Café de la Paix, place de l'Opéra à Paris

Pour le lancement de l'opération, l'ancien top a reçu le soutien de la jeune actrice et maman de trois enfants - Lilou (8 ans), Moïra (6 ans) et Milo (3 mois) - Lucie Lucas

Ce mardi 5 juin 2018 à 9h, Lucie Lucas et Inès de la Fressange ont donc lancé ensemble la nouvelle édition des Petits Déjeuners du coeurs du Café de la Paix qui durera dix jours

Tous les matins, de 8h à 10h, cette adresse parisienne propose en terrasse un petit déjeuner spécial composé d'une boisson chaude, d'un jus d'orange et d'une viennoiserie à consommer sur place ou à emporter

Vendu au prix de 5 euros, l'intégralité des recettes de ce petit déjeuner solidaire est reversée à l'association

Chaque année, l'événement permet de faire venir un ou deux enfants en France pour une opération qui lui sauve la vie

Après Pauline Lefèvre ou encore Barbara Schulz, c'est la talentueuse Lucie Lucas, star de Clem sur TF1, qui a cette année apporté son soutien aux Petits Déjeuners du coeur

La jeune femme de 32 ans et Inès de la Fressange ont joué de leur notoriété pour attirer le public en passant derrière le comptoir, installé en extérieur, pour proposer des boissons chaudes aux passants

Les deux personnalités étaient accompagnées du Professeur Francine Leca, cofondatrice de Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, ainsi que Christophe Laure, Directeur Régional Paris et Directeur Général de l'InterContinental Paris Le Grand

Le petit Farwad, récemment opéré et sauvé grâce à Mécenat Chirurgie Cardiaque était aussi là avec les bénévoles

Rappelons que l'association organise également des missions à l'étranger et forme les médecins sur place
