Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates lack earlier domination in latest Bafana squad

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates lack earlier domination in latest Bafana squad.

There was a time when it was taken for granted that when any Bafana Bafana coach announced a squad Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates players would not only dominate in numbers but also play on match day.

Well‚ not anymore.

The number of Bafana players drawn from the Soweto giants continued to depreciate on Tuesday as Stuart Baxter named his 22-man squad to face Libya in an Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on September 8.

Explaining his selections‚ Baxter said it is important to stick with the players fitting in a programme he's trying to develop.

"We need a long-term programme and it's important to stick to it‚" said Baxter.

"We need to resist the temptation to keep constantly changing the team and persist with a programme where you have a strategy and be able to defend that strategy." In the latest squad only three players – goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune and right-back Ramahlwe Mphahlele from Chiefs‚ and left-back Innnocent Maela from Pirates – were named from the country's two biggest teams.

Replacing these teams in terms of dominance in the latest squad were league champions Mamelodi Sundowns‚ Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United‚ who all had four players each in Baxter's squad.

Also of interest in this squad is the fact that in the defence and goalkeeping department only locally-based players were selected.

Just Bongani Zungu of the French club Amiens FC and Kamohelo Mokotjo of Brentford in the English Championship were among the seven midfielders selected.

Up-front the foreign contingent dominates‚ with Percy Tau of Royal Union FC in Belgium‚ Lebo Mothiba of Lille in France and Keagan Dolly of Montpellier of France selected alongside Themba Zwane of Sundowns and Bradley Grobler of SuperSport United.

All in all Baxter selected five foreign-based players.

He conceded that his selection was limited by the fact that Safa failed to organise a friendly match that the team would have played after the qualifier in Durban.

Baxter indicated that players like midfielders Lebohang Maboe of Sundowns and Lebohang Phiri‚ who plays for Guingcamp in France‚ were still very much part of his team despite being not selected this time.

Bafana squad - Goalkeepers: Itumeleng Khune (Kaizer Chiefs‚ Ronwen Williams (Supersport United)‚ Darren Keet (Bidvest Wits) Defenders: Ramahlwe Mphahlele (Kaizer Chiefs)‚ Motjeka Madisha (Mamelodi Sundowns)‚ Siyanda Xulu (Maritzburg United)‚ Thulani Hlatshwayo (Bidvest Wits)‚ Innocent Maela (Orlando Pirates)‚ Sifiso Hlanti (Bidvest Wits)‚ Buhle Mkhwanazi (Bidvest Wits) Midfielders: Dean Furman (Supersport United)‚ Siphesihle Ndlovu (Maritzburg United)‚ Hlompho Kekana (Mamelodi Sundowns)‚ Bongani Zungu (Amiens‚ France)‚ Teboho Mokoena (Supersport United)‚ Kamohelo Mokotjo (Brentford‚ England)‚ Sibusiso Vilakazi (Mamelodi Sundowns) Forwards: Themba Zwane (Mamelodi Sundowns)‚ Keagan Dolly (Montpellier‚ France)‚ Percy Tau (Royal Union‚ Belgium)‚ Lebo Mothiba (Lille‚ France)‚ Bradley Grobler (Supersport United).

Arsenal news: Shock Napoli 'pity' claim made over Lucas Torreira's Gunners move by agent - Duration: 3:28.

The Uruguayan signed for the Gunners in a £26.4million move after the World Cup after lengthy links concerning a swap from Sampdoria to the north London outfit

The 22-year-old was hailed as an exciting addition having impressed in Serie A and also for his country in Russia earlier this summer, the midfielder possessing the kind of tenacity and energy Unai Emery wants from his players

While Torreira has yet to start a Premier League game for Arsenal, having started on the bench in all of Emery's first three games as manager, he is expected to become a key player

And Torreira's agent Pablo Bentacur has revealed that had legendary manager Ancelotti been present at the very start of transfer negotiations with Napoli, the player may have ended up staying in Italy

Speaking Naples-based radio station Radio CRC, Bentacur said: "It's a pity, I'm sorry Ancelotti wasn't there at the start of the negotiation

"He'd have been a great help for Torreira, he has tremendous international experience

"But then Lucas called me and he confirmed to me that negotiations with Arsenal were too advanced for any second thoughts

"If Arsenal had collapsed then Napoli would have been perfect. "In the end, the Gunners satisfied our demands and they even were willing to pay €5million more than his release clause

"The Premier League? He is adapting well to the league and he is happy to be here with Arsenal

" Despite having yet to start for Arsenal, coming off the bench in all of their matches thus far, Torreira is pleased with his start to life in London

He told Arsenal's official website: "I'm really happy. It's all very new for me because I've come from a different type of league

"The climate is different here and the way of life too, but I'm settling in nicely and training hard - the sessions are different too

"The confidence will grow with every game, so that's great." Speaking after Arsenal's 3-1 win over West Ham last weekend, Torreira added: "We're getting to grips with what the coach wants from us and I think we've played some good football in the past few games

"We got our first win today which was massive for us, but there's a long road ahead and a lot of games to play

"So the best thing for us now is to rest up, focus on our next game and concentrate on our preparation, which is vital

" Arsenal are back in action when they take on newly-promoted Cardiff City, yet to win a game since their top-flight return, on Sunday (1

30pm).

The Giant Elephant Song | Kindergarten Songs and Videos for Children - Duration: 1:02:09.

The Giant Elephant Song

I'm a giant elephant

See my floppy ears.

I can live in the forest

Up to fifty years

You might say I'm rather large

But trust me that ok

My legs are wide and strong

Enough to carry what I weigh.

And I eat grass and roots,

Leaves off of trees

Bark and fruits

Thats what I need

Eating is important and it's so much fun.

If I keep this up I'll end up weighing several tons

I'm a giant elephant

My tusks come in handy

They help me gather all my food

They're made of Ivory

I'm the giant elephant

My trunk is very strong

You can learn a lot about me

when you sing this song

Patek Philippe Chronograph - The Grail Among Collectors' Watches - Bachmann & Scher - Duration: 8:24.

Hello watch lovers, today we'll take care of Patek Philippe.

Today we look at Patek Philippe watches with perpetual calendar, moon phase and chronograph.

A complication that Patek Philippe introduced as the first brand in the 1940's.

To this day with manual wind. To this day in almost unchanged form.

Let's start with the most expensive one.

This is my absolute favorite watch from Patek Philippe.

The 2499 is the Grail.

No serious and in this case also rich watch collector does not desire to have a 2499 in his collection.

It is one of the most beautiful perpetual calendars with chronograph, Patek Philippe has ever produced.

Here we have the fourth series, which is unique because it is the only 2499 with a sapphire crystal glass.

Only a few hundred of them have been produced in different series.

The watch has been around since the mid-60s until the end of the 80s.

However, that was exactly during the quartz era, so only few watches have been sold.

Maybe it was the price. Today, these watches cost as much as a condominium in Munich...

...a large condominium in Munich.

Even in those days the list price was very expensive. Of course, this limited, too.

In 1982, the times of the 2499 came to an end.

Then there was a reference that was built very short. This is a 3971.

Back then, Patek tried to show people the technology through a glass bottom.

In this case here, in this reference, not with a screwed, but with a pressed glass bottom.

It makes this watch incredibly rare. This is a small detail only, but it is precisely these details that excite watch fans and collectors.

This reference was built just one or two years.

There are less than 20 pieces.

Less than 20 pieces – with a pressed bottom. It is one of the rarest ever built.

Patek Philippe's decision to build a glass bottom was genius,

because finally customers had a chance to witness the refined movement.

All pre-1980 models had closed bottom with their beauty hidden underneath.

Which is a real pity.

I find peculiar that Patek Philippe had downsized the watch.

Strange.

The 3970 is a good deal smaller than the 2499. Otherwise it takes on the same design language.

But what happened at Patek Philippe with the idea to make the watches smaller?

They still used Lemania movements, which are greatly refined and improved by Patek Philippe.

So that was not it.

It is also slightly bigger than the watch that has been built for many decades.

The 3970 was made up to and including 2007.

Correct. At the end with both bottoms, too.

You could choose between the glass bottom and the closed bottom.

Both of them screwed.

Correct. And there were no more different references.

So, the differences are small.

The 3970 was built from the mid-80s until 2007,

while this model was on the market probably over a period of one and a half years, only.

Later series had a solid gold bottom and the folding clasp came only at the turn of the millennium.

That is, the last series has a folding clasp,

two bottoms and,

in my opinion, too, is one of the most beautiful Patek Philippe watches ever built.

3970 is still undervalued.

It is too small for you, I understand that.

Yes. That's why it's also undervalued.

Because people are actually looking for bigger watches.

That's my theory. Because otherwise there is no reason.

There are watches in yellow gold, rose gold, white gold and platinum.

Thomas, you brought us a current model, the 5270.

The 5270 with blue dial in white gold was the first perpetual calendar with chronograph that Patek built with a colored dial.

It is the same size as its predecessor, the 5970.

This reference is the first one without a Lemania movement. It came with a movement entirely planned and built by Patek.

Well done. After exercising for 80 years they did a good job.

This first series with blue dial has only been built for a short time.

Compared to the modern blue dial, there is a difference down here at six o'clock.

A small dent, exactly.

One should pay attention to this.

In the next 10, 20 years this will certainly be an exciting investment watch.

Above all, its blue has a very special magic.

With these very rare watches that we have here today, I think this is very important to be mentioned.

So, blue has been an extremely untypical color. I like it very much, as well.

After so many years with small cases there was a desire to finally give it a size that current bearers actually like, namely large.

Today, we wanted to get out and show watches from the past 30 years, which still have a high potential or have been produced only for a very short time and in low quantities.

There are watches between € 80,000 and € 500,000 here on the table.

Apiece

Apiece. The 2499 is for people who don't have to worry about spending so much money.

That's upper-league.

It was already back then.

How much does this watch currently cost?

Between 100,000 and 120,000 Euros with the blue dials.

As said before, pay attention that it is from the first series, if you buy it for investment reasons.

I do recommend.

These are definitely products that have not been talked about much, so far.

So, let's put on one. You have to take off your tellurium first.

Uh, beautiful tellurium.

And I'm taking a 2499.

Quite impressive. To be allowed at all to hold something like it in your hand.

This is a piece of zeitgeist and history and the bearer and owner of such a watch has certainly contributed to this zeitgeist.

Would you walk around with it?

It's hard when you know you've got half a million on your wrist.

But then again, it would be a pity not to wear it, wouldn't it?

We hope to have helped you again, today with Patek Philippe watches.

Information and some entertainment.

Stay tuned, subscribe to our channel, and please let us know what topics about Patek Philippe or other brands would interest you.

We try to take this into account and hope to continue to entertain you.

I think you should take time, now.

I took my time.

On the watch.

Uh, the time!
