Youtube daily report Aug 2 2017

So I did a few of those interviews because, like you said before, if you haven't done

some of them yourself, you really don't have a feel.

But I always found it more difficult, using that data for writing, because I think at

least half of what you write is what's in your head already, and, of course, not all

of that data was in my head.

And when we finished, we had 300 1-2 hour interviews on both projects, and I can't

remember how many food diaries, and how many food frequency questionnaires and all the

other stuff, there was a really massive amount of data.

So even though I read everything as it came in, I can't pretend I remembered every single

thing.

It would have been very difficult.

So I did one edited book where we all contributed articles and some other stuff as well, and

we published quite a few articles and reports, but the monograph that I had always planned

to write, in the end, I thought, "This is never going to happen.

I'm not going to sit down and be able to work through and with this mass of material

that's not in my head".

So depositing it in the archive was a bit of a load off my shoulders really.

I just hope that other people will use it, because I think it's fantastic data.

It's very very interesting, and it's a real snapshot of a moment in time where people

talk about their ideas about food, health, and the body.

Leçon 4 - Tu et vous (You and you) - Duration: 9:42.

Hello, and welcome in your fourth French lesson

In French, there are two ways to speak to someone

depending on how close you are to that person

First scenario:

Calling someone "tu",

for the persons we know,

for example,

for a family member,

you will use "tu",

for example, your father, in the morning,

you can tell him "Hello dad,

are you doing well?"

"Are you doing well?"

"Did you sleep well?"

Voilà

With your friend, with your classmate,

you will use "tu"

"Did you do the homework for today, Mathieu?"

"Did you do the homework for today?"

With your colleague, also,

you can use "tu"

"Hey, Marc, you are not working very fast, today"

To your boyfriend,

you will say

"Do you love me, Nicolas?"

"Do you love me?

"Do you think we will die together?"

"When will you ask me to marry you?"

"Tu" is for the persons that we know

Then,

second scenario: calling someone "vous"

That is to say

that you will use the personal pronoun "vous"

with the persons that you don't know well,

or the persons you have to show some respect to

For example, your Math teacher,

that you know, he is your teacher since the beginning of the year,

but he is your teacher,

he is not your friend, he is not your brother, no no no

So, we respect him, we tell him "vous"

For example,

"Mister,

can you explain to me once again yesterday's lesson?"

Voilà

Your boss, generally, you call him "vous"

A stranger, in the subway,

who bumps into you, for example

you will tell him "You could pay attention!"

"You could pay attention"

Because he is a stranger, and even if he bumps into you,

you cannot call him "tu",

this is lack of respect,

you have to call him "vous", you don't know him

Voilà

For example, your neighbor,

this is a typical example of...

"it depends",

your neighbor, it depends on the relationship you have with him,

if he is a neighbor you invite at your house every week-end to barbecue,

in this case, you can tell him "tu"

because you became friends,

you became close friends

While if this neighbor,

you barely say "Hello" to him in the morning,

if you are not very sociable

and he is just a neighbor you don't have affinities with,

you will use the personal pronoun "vous",

in the morning, you see him, you tell him

"Hello Mister, are you doing well?"

"Are you doing well, Mister, today?"

Voilà

I hope you took some notes

Now,

what do we do when we want to speak to several persons at the same time?

When we want to speak to several persons

either we know them or not,

we will use "vous"

Yes, "vous"

"Vous" has two functions

"Vous" is used for speaking to one person that we don't know well,

or to several persons,

either we know them or not

I am giving you the example of the parents

To my mother, for example, I will say:

"Mummy, you smell good!"

"You smell good, mummy!"

And, to my father, I will say:

"Oh lala! You too, daddy,

you smell good!"

But,

if you want

to give the same compliment

to both at the same time, to both of your parents,

you will tell them:

"You smell good, daddy and mummy!"

Because they are two people

Individually, you tell them "tu" and "tu",

but if they are together, you tell them "vous"

There

I think that... at least I hope

that it was clear enough

I will give you just some examples of sentences

calling someone "tu" and calling someone "vous"

so that you see the difference,

for example, the sentence

"What's your name?"

There, this is when you call someone "tu"

And "What's your name?"

This one is when you call someone "vous"

So, you are going to tell me "But...

«What's you name?»

is the type of question we ask to someone we don't know,

usually, so we should use «vous»"

And you are right, but

try to take into consideration that

using "tu" is very common

among young people,

that is to say that if you are a teenager, or even

even beyond 20 years old

if you are in a rather "young" ambiance,

in a young and dynamic company

with an average age of 20 years old, between 20 and 25 years old,

you can tell "tu" to those people,

even if you don't know them already

you can ask them "What's your name?"

If you have a doubt, try to listen what the other ones are saying,

if they are using "tu" or "vous",

but using "tu" is very common in rather young ambiances

There

Another type of... well, another question

"How old are you?"

This one is using "tu"

And "How old are you?"

This one is using "vous"

There, I gave you those two questions

because in the next lesson,

we should see how to introduce ourselves

and how to ask questions to someone so that they introduce themselves

That way, you already have "What's your name?"

and "How old are you?",

you are already almost ready

There, I will add

another small sentence,

the sentence to apologize

We say "Excuse-me"

if we know well the person

"Excuse-me, Nathalie,

I forgot your birthday"

"Excuse-me"

And we say "Excuse-me"

if we don't know well the person

for example, in the subway, if you bump into someone,

and that you are polite, you will tell them

"Excuse-me"

"Excuse-moi" using "tu"

"Excusez-moi" using "vous"

There, I think I am done

Miles in his Shoes 08.02.17 - MCV Campus - Duration: 2:35.

[Miles in his Shoes intro music]

What's up, Rams!

VCU has two main campus locations, they are Monroe Park and MCV.

MCV is home to a few cool hang out spots with colorful histories that are often overlooked, including, but not limited to,

the John Marshall House, the White House of Confederacy, the Valentine Museum and the Library of Virginia.

The John Marshall House, a refurbished 18th century home, contains the largest collection of Marshall family pieces and

is where the famous supreme court justice resided from 1790 to 1835.

The White House of Confederacy was home to the former president of the Confederate States of America, Jefferson Davis, and his family.

This was until the evacuation of Richmond in 1865.

My personal favorite of this line up is the Valentine Museum, founded in 1898

which has been preserving, interpreting and exploring Richmond's 400 year history for over a century.

The Valentine's founder, Mann S. Valentine Jr.,gained his fame and fortune from inventing a health tonic made from pure beef juice.

Valentine was a collector of artifacts and with the help of his sculptor brother Edward V. Valentine the foundation for the museum was laid.

[pan of the Valentine]

Lastly is the Library of Virginia!

All the rich historic culture of the commonwealth is archived in one library.

The Library of Virginia offers exhibitions that explore a wide variety of Virginia's political, social and cultural history.

Hopefully this episode helped shine some light on some commonly overlooked venues near campus, thanks for tagging along on my trip!

KLIM Powerhawk Pant - Duration: 2:57.

Hey guys, Matt and Seth here from Up North Sports.

We're checking out the brand new, 2018 Klim Powerhawk pant.

You're probably wondering, I've never heard of the Powerhawk before, that's because it's

brand new this year, no more Powerxcross pant, no more Tomahawk pant, Seth, this is the brand

new Powerhawk, and wow, what super nice versatility this piece offers.

You're not kidding, it is going to be a feature packed piece, especially for an un-insulated

bottom.

Now you will notice it is a pant style, it does not come up to the sternum or above,

so it won't be a full bib, you'll want to keep that in mind when you're considering

your layering options, because again, this is an un-insulated piece.

Now, with the most amazing thing about this is going to be the strapping system guys.

Now before, the Powerxross pant, did not offer a strap, the Tomahawk did, now again, with

this fusion, what we have happening here is a pant that does offer actually a removable

strap, so they will connect into the front and they are adjustable, but what's really

nice if you're not a fan of the strap, what you can do is take it right off of this piece

and be able to use it just as a pant, and that's going to be a really nice feature,

again, depending on each riders preference.

And Seth, if you'll turn around too, you saw Seth unclip those, and then what I can do

here guys is just zip this right off, and you have a functional pant with belt loops,

so that's a really, really nice feature.

I'm really excited about the flexibility that this piece is going to offer.

Now remember, un-insulated shell, going to allow you to layer as needed, and Seth, if

you'll tell us what size you're wearing and the layering you're wearing underneath.

Certainly.

To give you guys a point of reference, 5'9", 175 pounds, I'm a 32 inch inseam, a 30 inch

waist, and I am comfortably wearing the size large.

Now however, I have pulled the straps into the waist as far as they can go and I have

a little bit of puckering happening, so I'd probably go for the medium for the waist,

however, the length on this is just about perfect for me.

There are included knee pads, Matt, so you'll want to keep that in mind, depending on your

in seam, the knee pads may not fit in the right spot for you, but these are perfect

for me.

You are going to want to check out the sizing chart, there are three different colors available

in this, so make sure you check out the sizing chart.

If you have any questions regarding sizing, always feel free to give us a call.

Let's dive into some more features here.

We've got water sealed hand pockets on here, which is really, really nice.

Now, Seth, let's dive into those two way zips on the side as well.

I'm a huge fan, Matt, any bib, any pant, it doesn't matter, I love a two way all the way

to the hip.

Whether you have a hard time getting in or out of the bib, or just prefer a nice option

for venting, I love a two way zip.

Again, it will be water sealed guys, so you can yank this baby all the way up, now I have

no layering on other than a pair of jeans, which I would never wear with a Gore-Tex piece,

and this is a Gore-Tex piece guys, 100% waterproof, 100% windproof, you want to avoid cotton at

all costs in your layering.

Now this does offer a fantastic boot gator as well, really, really fantastic boot and

I am wearing the Klim BOA at the moment, the Adrenaline version 2, great, great boot to

pair with this pant.

Super excited to introduce the brand new Klim Powerhawk pant here at Up North Sports, check

it out.

KLIM Kaos Bib - Duration: 3:32.

Hey guys, Matt and Seth here at Up North Sports.

We're checking out the brand new Klim Kaos bib, look at all this color, it's going to

be just like the jacket.

There's three different matching bibs to match the jackets.

Sizes available, small through 3XL.

Seth, I'm totally digging this new color wave that Klim's coming out with this year in the

Kaos series and this bib offers so much flexibility, it has the removable shoulder straps.

Absolutely, and it's a phenomenal feature that Klim's actually been doing with a couple

of their pants this year, and that's a feature I have always been a fan of.

Just more versatility on the sled, offers more options for each individual rider preference

and so these are similar to the power hawk pant in the fact that they're hooked up front,

so if you're looking to take these baby's off and just wear it as a pant, all you have

to do is just remove it from the front, unzip it from the back and you have yourself a functional

pant, with adjustments at the waist as well as belt loops.

Very, very nice feature, Seth, and the way they do the insulation on this bib, this is

comfort map, so the insulation value's going to depend on the area on the bib, for instance

the rear has a lot more insulation so you're not getting your butt wet, in comparatively

to like the knee Seth.

You got it, so you're looking at a three hundred all the way to a hundred, ranging in there,

depending on the area of the body that's needing more protection, it's heavier, in the areas

you need it less, it's less insulation, so it does offer a more flexible piece and a

more versatile piece.

And I'm totally digging this new material that they're using Seth.

It is still Gore-Tex but I find it extremely flexible.

Oh certainly, and if you're even looking for abrasion resistance, not only is it flexible

but also abrasion resistant, so if you are bashing through the trees or maybe take a

spill off the machine, these things are going to keep you protected while feeling flexible.

And just like the jacket guys, a great all around piece, being in that mid-range insulation

value, you can use this in the north woods here in Minnesota where we're at in the below

zero temps, but it also offers you that availability to be using that in the mountains and staying

protected and staying dry and most importantly, staying protected out there as well.

Now we're going to dive into some of the water sealed pockets here guys.

We have two main hand pockets, this is also an additional thigh pocket as well, which

is really nice, you're going to be able to stow a lot of belongings in this piece.

Now Seth this is a full two way zip all the way up to the hip, so let's dive into that

feature as well.

You got it, it's a feature I love guys, again, depending on your preference, having it open

all the way to get in and out, even with the boot on or off is a nice feature, just to,

again, more for venting, it's really nice to offer all the way to the hip with a two

way, depending on the conditions.

So you do have a nice water sealed zip going all the way up and I'm wearing the Klim adrenaline

boa boot in this particular video, you can find it at UpNorthSports.com, fantastic boot

to pair with this suit.

Really awesome boot gator, going to keep that snow dust out, keep you protected and then

it goes all the way up to the hip as we mentioned, nice Velcro adjustments at the side, if again,

you are looking for some adjustments.

Just for a point of reference, I'm 5'9", 175 pounds, I have a 32 inch inseam, a 30 inch

waist, I am certainly comfortable wearing a large, however, I find this a little large

around the midsection, but the length is perfect.

And just to know too, Seth is wearing jeans, just for a sample on this video.

We typically don't recommend ever wearing cotton with a Gore-Tex piece, so another option

that's really nice, check out the Klim aggressor series, a great layering piece we recommend

here at Up North Sports.

Thanks for checking out our Klim Kaos bib video, guys, brand new this year, we're super

excited about it.

If you're looking for the matching jacket, make sure you check out that video as well.

KLIM Tomahawk Parka 2018 - Duration: 2:18.

Hey guys, Matt and Seth here from Up North Sports.

We're checking out the brand new Klim Tomahawk parka today.

Seth has on the very bright blue color.

Seth, will you tell us what size you're wearing today?

Certainly, guys, to give you a point of reference, I'm 5'9", 175 pounds, I am very comfortably

wearing the size large in this, and I think this is the size I'd go with, whether I'd

be layering here in the north woods, or out west riding through the mountains with a tek

vest, this large fits me great.

Now this is an un-insulated piece, great for you boondockers, mountain guys, guys that

like to layer, Tomahawk a very nice, lightweight, comfortable piece, Seth, it's going to allow

you to layer as needed.

You got it, and not only that, but it is 100% windproof, 100% waterproof, does have the

Gore-Tex membrane, you're going to find that throughout, phenomenal protection from the

inside and the out.

I love that.

So let's dive into some features, as you can see Seth is absolutely using the wrist gators

here, very nice feature.

Let's dive into some venting.

We have some vents on the chest, we also have two backpack friendly vents on the back so

that's going to be really nice if you're using your Krew Pak, your peeps bag, it's going

to fit very, very nicely, you'll still be able to use those vents effectively.

As you can see very nice YKK zippers, guys, all water sealed, going to keep those belongings

nice and dry, really nice.

It has two hand pockets and one chest pocket.

Now we're going to dive into the inside of this jacket.

As you can see, Seth is using the powder skirt here, which is really nice over the bib, guys,

so they can keep all of that snow dust out of there, we also have a nice interior pocket

on the right chest.

Now, Seth, will you show us a little more about that powder skirt over the bib.

Absolutely, and this is something I do like to use, again, depending on the conditions,

you can use it or not use it, it's really not that big a deal, but for those that are

a fan of it, it's a great feature to have on a jacket, especially for deep powder riders.

So there are slight adjustments at the waist, you can do two different buckling's, depending

on the fit and the comfort, but I love a powder skirt, Matt.

Absolutely.

And just to touch on the bib Seth's wearing, make sure you check out this video, it's the

brand new Powerhawk bib Seth's wearing, looks super sharp with this jacket, it's the un-insulated,

no more Powerxcross pant, no more Tomahawk pant, it is the Powerhawk pant, make sure

you check it out.

Check out our video with that.

Today we're featuring the brand new Tomahawk Parka, check it out at UpNorthSports.com,

KLIM Kaos Parka - Duration: 3:23.

Hey guys, Matt and Seth here at Up North Sports.

We're checking out the brand new Klim Kaos jacket, Seth, one of the most colorful things

I've ever seen Klim produce.

You're not kidding.

And what a great midway jacket Seth, you can use this on the trail, we can wear it here

in northern Minnesota in those below zero days and it still has Gore-Tex.

And that's what I'm so excited for Matt, I'm glad you bring up those wonderful points,

because on this new key, key product that Klim is bringing out this year for the 2018

season, you're going to find not only phenomenal color options, great visibility, check out

this awesome, awesome hi-vis/blue combination, they're doing numerous color options and such

a fun pattern and the insulation rating is perfect.

Not only is it going to be good for out west or you east coast riders, it's also going

to be an awesome mid western piece, depending on what you prefer for warmth and the conditions

you're riding in.

Absolutely.

180 grams, so not too heavy, but when comparing it to the klimate when you're hitting 300

grams, it's a nice midway piece.

Absolutely

So it's a great, great insulation value and Seth, this new material that they've used,

super flexible.

And that's another phenomenal feature out of this that you guys are going to love on

or off the trail.

This jacket is so comfortable, so flexible, but if you're bashing through those trees,

I promise you the abrasion resistance is plenty.

Will you talk a little bit about sizing, Seth.

You got it.

Because this is a new piece Matt, it's going to fit a lot like the insulated stuff of that

fast forward fit.

So I'm 5'9" 175 pounds and I am certainly comfortable wearing the size large, however,

in my particular preference I would prefer to jump down to a medium in this.

Good length at the mid-section and good in the arms, but I just find a little bit of

extra room in the center.

Absolutely.

Four total colors available.

Seth was talking about a lot more color than you're used to seeing in Klim pieces, so make

sure you check them out on the website.

Also, sizes available small through 3XL in all the colors available and make sure you

check out our video for the matching bib combo, you'll see that on the video tab as well.

Seth, let's also talk about pockets, water sealed, what other features do we have on

the inside of the jacket.

And that's a great, great thing to bring up Matt, because this is going to be a piece

by Klim that's a Gore-Tex piece that is insulated that is in such a fantastic price range, it's

going to reach out to so many of our different customers and different rider styles.

So looking at this breakdown, awesome, awesome adjustments at the wrists, really nice new

logo, new Klim thing they're doing there, I like a little additional pop and pizazz and

on this piece it almost gets lost because it's so wild, but so much fun stuff happening.

Nice storm flaps, going to be a Velcro storm flap, keeping that snow dust and cold out

with an awesome chunky YKK main zip that does offer a two zip, I'm a huge fan of two way zip Matt,

depending on how you like sitting on the sled and you're preference on there.

And we'll open her up too because on the inside, they have included the snow skirt, I'm a huge

fan of the snow skirt, and there's going to be reflectivity all the way throughout this

piece, so the versatility is incredible.

And Seth, we'll turn you actually real quick, we're going to take a look, and if you lift

that arm up, we do have pit vents here on both, these are going to be really nice backpack

friendly too, so it's going to be really nice, make sure if you're wearing your Krew pak,

your peeps bag, it's going to work really nice on this piece.

As Seth said, reflect-ability, we have some on the arm, we also have some going down on

the back as well, so very, very sharp looking piece guys.

Thanks for watching our Klim Kaos video today guys.

Make sure you check out the bib video as well, if you ever have any questions give us a call

at 866-335-8500.

KLIM Klimate Parka - Duration: 3:15.

Hey guys, Matt and Seth here from Up North Sports.

We're checking out some of the brand new Klim gear, and Seth's wearing the brand new Klimate

jacket, as you can see, a big design change from last year, this is the red, camo color

Seth.

You got it, and boy, you're not kidding, is this thing popping or what.

Great visibility out on the sled guys, going to be an awesome feature, and not to mention,

something that's kind of outside of Klim's wheelhouse on an outer wear piece, so it's

really nice to see them do something fun and different.

Absolutely, check out our sizing chart and all the colors available at UpNorthSports.com,

there are six total colors, but depending on what color you like or you're interested

in, the sizing chart will depend on that color.

Now, in the all black color, I will mention, that one goes from small all the way up to

5XL, so the black, all black, will be the only one that's going to get the 4 and 5 XL,

so make sure you check out the Up North Sports sizing chart as well.

Now Seth, let's talk a little about some venting and pockets on here, we do have really nice

pit vents.

Certainly, and one thing I do want to address as well, before we dive into that Matt, I

want to give you guys an idea of the size I'm wearing, because they did change this

up a little bit, it fits a little bit different than it used to be for the insulated stuff,

so to give you a point of reference, I'm 5'9" 175 pounds, I am very comfortably wearing

the size large, in fact, I find it to be just a little too generous.

Now if I were to be wearing a Tek vest, armor of any kind, it might be a little bit of a

different story, but, fair amount of room through the midsection, a little bit short

in the arms for me, but one feature I really like that they did add Matt is the wrist gator

on the Klimate jacket, so another great feature, but again, just an idea to give you guys for

when you're buying, purchasing, 5'9" 175 pounds, I'd probably wear the size medium in it.

Absolutely, and Seth, I'm going to turn you here real quick, we're going to take a look

at this pit vent here.

Really nice, I like how they did the water sealed zipper in the color red as well, so

that's really sharp, it matches the jacket nice.

You'll see, nice mesh, going to keep any snow dust out of the jacket as well, and we have

that on both sides.

We also have, as you can see there, really nice.

We do have the one chest pocket, all water sealed guys, all quality YKK water sealed

zippers, going to keep all your belongings nice and dry.

Seth, and speaking of dry, we need to talk about the Gore-Tex in this jacket.

Absolutely, guys, 100% windproof and waterproof.

Gore-Tex will keep you dry from the inside and the out.

It is one of the finest performing membranes on the market, exclusive to Klim in this particular

series, it's a fantastic thing to go with, and always good protection, no matter what

you're riding in.

Absolutely, and you guys have probably heard of the Klimate jacket before, it's been a

staple piece as far as insulated pieces goes with Klim, but they've redesigned this guys,

30% more warmer than the Klimate in the past, we're talking 300 grams of thinsulate in this

jacket, Seth.

You got it.

And another feature that they did change up on this that I'm a really big fan of is the

included snow skirt.

So again, Matt mentioned, awesome YKK zips all the way through, good protective storm

flap with nice Velcro enclosure, going to keep that snow dust and wind out, again, great

chunky main YKK zip and the included snow skirt.

I love this feature, guys, great for keeping the powder and the wind out.

Don't have to use it, but a great feature to have if you do want to.

Absolutely.
