Who wrote this note asking me about Ramana's teachings?

Well that's a really good question and I hope I can do it justice.

"What is the relationship between ethics and the teaching of Ramana Maharshi?"

Ramana's teaching is not really not a teaching the way we think of teachings – with a whole

syllabus attached to it.

It's simply be still, and know who you are.

And then, you live your life.

Now the easy answer, and it's the true answer, also is that, you know, when you know who

you are, you love that.

And so, it would be quite natural that you would meet yourself, and love yourself,

and not cause, cause harm.

But the simplicity in being still and knowing yourself, is then met by the complexity of

life and events and forms.

And it's not for the teaching to tell you what you should or shouldn't do.

It's what you have to discover, is your ethical or moral compass.

You are you are free.

And that means of course, you are free to do harm.

And we do harm all of the time.

But you are free to tell the rigorous truth of, who are you?

Where do you begin?

Where do you end?

And from that there is naturally a deep concern with yourself in totality.

The expression of that concern has infinite forms.

Ramana was a hermit, but he didn't preach that you needed to be a hermit to be still

and know yourself.

He was celibate.

He never was, he never had sexual relations.

He didn't teach that that's necessary for you to know yourself.

He was vegetarian.

He didn't teach that you had to be vegetarian, or Brahmin or Hindu or Indian, or religious

of any kind.

It's taking the intelligence that is innate, being still with the workings of the mind

from that intelligence and recognizing who you are.

In general, there are rules and counter rules, and rebellions and reformations

when there is a teacher who is giving a teaching, like Christ, or the Buddha.

And, there are wars, (or Muhammad), and then there are wars between groups who say

"No, this is what he meant".

Or "No, this is what you should do".

"No, no, we got here first".

This is, this is not, this teaching is not in your life to tell you what you should and

should not do.

That's really up to you.

Just your capacity to be still and know who you are uncovers an ocean of intelligence.

Then that intelligence has to live, has to make choices, has to take the consequences

of choices that are made.

And adapts to choices.

Maybe we live in particularly immoral and ethical times.

But I think probably not in particular.

I believe that if you read a little history you will see it has always been a really big

mess.

At least once we got into a sense of civilization and interacting with other civilizations,

and different families, and different ethical standards, and different moral idealisms.

So, I don't want to treat this lightly at all because I am great believer in the necessity

for living a moral life with ethical standards.

But I am not a believer in the burden of that, or the imposition of that.

I have often said and I say it again, I'm not a missionary.

I'm not here to convert you to Ramana's teachings, or Papaji's teachings.

Whatever your moral life is you still have the capacity to stop.

As Papaji would say, "call off the search.

Be still and know yourself."

And then from that, live freely.

A free life does not necessarily mean doing whatever you want.

It means freely, and in that freedom, recognition of where you cause suffering unnecessarily,

and where you continue your own suffering unnecessarily.

Because it's also immoral to suffer unnecessarily.

Because that spreads vibration of suffering and your misery into the world.

So really the willingness to take responsibility for your own intelligence.

And to know that you can recognize your own particular mistakes along the way.

And make amends, or correct course, or be more still, know yourself more deeply.

That it's, to me it brings it back to that this is not really a teaching.

This is calling your attention to what is here before any teaching, during any teaching,

and after all teachings are finished.

All religions, all ideas, all notions of myself and other.

So, the ball is right back in your court.

At one time, someone heard Papaji's teachings and said "Oh my God!

What are you saying?

You're saying this to people - to Westerners.

You're saying this to people and you don't know!

Are they egomaniacs?

They could just go wild with this!

They could cause great harm!"

And he said, "It's true you know, they could, but what other teaching has not caused

great harm?"

You can encapsulate egotistically around anything.

And you do.

And you have.

And part of the invitation to self-reflection is to recognize that tendency and to be willing

to simply lose all of the benefits that you have gotten from that tendency.

To lose all your accumulations.

And be still.

And know yourself.

Chelsea 'weighing up late bid' for Fernando Llorente as Swansea City prepare to stand firm

Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a late move for Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente, despite Paul Clement insisting the Spaniard will be staying in South Wales.

The Blues have been continually linked with the 32-year-old since the January transfer window, with manager Antonio Conte keen to be reunited with a player who helped him secure Serie A glory at Juventus.

The Daily Telegraph say Chelsea are ready to offer as much as £15million for the World Cup winner , who is in the final year of his contract at Swansea.

He has yet to play this season after suffering a fracture to his arm in a cycling accident while on holiday, with his recovery taking longer than expected.

Swans chairman Huw Jenkins revealed earlier this summer that the club planned to offer Llorente, their top scorer last season with 15 goals, a new two-year deal but there has been no suggestion an agreement on new terms is close.

However, speaking just before the start of the season, head coach Clement made clear that, as far as he is concerned, Llorente will be a Swansea player this season.

The 45-year-old has already lost one key player in Gylfi Sigurdsson, but Clement was not fearful of losing Llorente after received assurances from the player himself.

"Fernando has got a year to go on his deal and we'd like him to stay for this year and longer," Clement said. "He's a really good player and it's a shame with the injury he got in the summer.

"It's a freak one and he did finish off the season strongly. His goals were vital and we want to have him as an option.

"When he's fit, to have him, Tammy Abraham and Jordan Ayew available is a good thing for me."But I'm confident he will stay because of the conversations I've had with Fernando.

He's happy here, he likes the work we're doing and he likes the way we play. I'm confident he will be here this season..

Swansea are closing in on a deal to bring Wilfried Bony back to the Liberty Stadium before the transfer deadline.

It has been thought that a move for the Manchester City striker would only happen if Llorente were to leave, although it is understood that is no longer the case.

discomfort for other people because maybe they wanted to take the lead maybe

they wanted to take the risk and be a business owner but maybe they feel sort

of unstuck so when you start talking about your living out your dream and

you're helping people and you're coaching people maybe it makes people

feel uncomfortable and maybe that's what you feel so I had always done that I had

always done it even in Mexico some people at the resort we say that we're

asking me what do you do what my husband was like I'm an engineer and I do this

and I do that and he says his stuff all proud or whatever and when it came to me

anyone I just I and I work from home well what do you do at home and then he

would speak up from and say well she's an e-commerce business coach she trains

businesses if it it sure ain't easy you got that right Sevilla it is not easy

and he behaved like she's an e-commerce business coach she trains people to sell

online she also helps businesses to get more visibility as your business online

so he's more excited about talking about my business than I am and one day he

pulled me to the side he was like babe why don't you tell people proudly what

you do why do you shy away from those conversations what you do is wonderful

what you do is excellent why aren't you shouting it to the world

I shouldn't have to tell people you should be rambling off about what you do

I mean they ask you take the floor and tell them so that's what I'm here to

talk to you guys about today especially when you're asked why aren't you taking

the stage okay you're on stage what Valencia always says that huh take your

own stage and let people know what you do be the star of your own stage be the

star of your own stage and I did borrow that from a friend definitely why not

why not be prayer why not be excited if somebody can be excited about their

nine-to-five and you know I'm a manager and I do this and I do that and the

conversation can get interesting how come you can make your conversation

interesting right so as I told you guys before I went to the I want to get these

braids done y'all I took a leap of faith and got these things in my head okay and

cuz I've never been a big fan of braids but I needed to do something with my

probably seen them so I was like you're talented

she had soaps shea butter or some kind of concoction she had made up to make a

hand grow this girl had the the operation

her own labels on products but it was boxes everywhere and I was just like

don't be laughs don't laugh to me she like let me Clemmy close my ears stick

her shop y'all she had all of that right so I was like what you doing with all

this stuff girl and she was like oh you know nobody wants to pick hurts oh yes

okay so yeah I was like oh my goodness whoa I didn't turn the phone yes we all

do have to start somewhere we all do have to start somewhere and I did start

somewhere and now I'm here okay and I do have more gonna do I never arrived I

always fall on my face I get up again and that's what makes me such a let me

see if I keep my own home I put some omen I'm just gonna say that that's what

makes me so effective because I do fall down and I do make mistakes and I do

ideal customer she needs to consistently be on one or two platforms not

consistently be on one to two platforms and she needs to build relationships

with who her ideal customer is and I said you need to get specific you need

intentional guys because if you know where you're going

that's my practice meet you if you know where you're going you're unstoppable

you're unstoppable like if the train is traveling south and that probably isn't

sound okay but women know sound okay so if the plane if the train is traveling

knows where that train is going then you can pinpoint where you need to be hey

elder that's right intentional and then you can get one that train and decide if

this is the train for you and I'm right stay how is it stay hunger or stay

knows where they're going other people don't mind getting going and going along

all of that good stuff right you're gonna change some lives today

love I might not have as much to give as I might need you sometimes will feel

like I'm the most loving person all the time I love love don't you love that

love love and I think that most people like admiration you to practice and

that's what social media is all about social media is all about attention

people saying oh yeah girl you look cute today that selfie was nice mm-hmm your

today you feel better even though you might not be looking all that great

today and a few people told you you were good you were good looking you might

feel a little better about yourself it's a feel-good thing and that's why

everyone is so addicted to it okay but we can't rely on social media to tell us

how great we are sometimes we can't rely on our spouse a partner sometimes we

can't rely on our friends right sometimes we just can't rely on we can't

rely on the world okay in the news and TV to tell us we looking great right cuz

we look a lot different from those people right so we can't tell ourselves

that so it's time for us to start to take our own power whether it's in the

car that's right out or whether it's in the mirror whether it's before you go to

bed you just close your eyes and say I love you you are so powerful you are so

beautiful you are effective when you speak people listen you give love and

you receive love everywhere that you go people beg you to buy your products and

services people chase me down to buy from me my inbox is full of messages

with people wanting to know please where is the link where is the week to write

your course that's just the kind of effect that I have so I tell myself that

every single day and you should - you should - that's right to me look so guys

The message read, Thankful for the hoobaenims (junior group) who were the only ones that came to greet us. Fans noticed that in past that when Girls Generation were rookies they made sure to visit every locker room and greet all the artists, especially their sunbaes.

If ever a car didnt really need to go on a diet, it was the Lotus Elise. But thats not the Hethel mentality - and so theyve sent their entry sports car off on a Weight Watchers course.

The result? The new 2017 Lotus Elise Sprint, with a nifty 41 kilogrammes shaved from the kerbweight. Its Lotus Elise distilled, weighing a featherweight 798kg dry.

Howve they made the Lotus Elise Sprint even lighter?. This is the biggest cut to the mass of the Elise since launch, Lotus claims. As you might expect, its all about marginal gains across the board:.

 -9kg 6kg  -5kg  -6kg  -4kg  -800g. That Sprint name is a nod to Lotuses past: it was used on the original Elan to denote sharper versions. Here its one step up from the Sport models and below the range-topping Elise Cup 250.

The Sprint package is available on the regular, naturally aspirated 1. 6 Elise Sport and the supercharged 1. 8 Elise Sport 220 models.

All Elises benefit from a 2017 model year makeover, with a new front clamshell, an open-gate gear selector (below) and other interior details. Lotus Elise Sprint prices, performance and specs.

Less weight = more performance, naturally. Lotus quotes an improved power-to-weight ratio for the Elise Sprint, climbing to 168bhp per tonne. Nought to 60mph now takes 5.9sec.

Prices start at £37,300 for the lightest Elise yet, with first deliveries due later in spring 2017. Black alloys, transom panel (thats the rear lighting bar) and windscreen surround mark out the Sprint. .

Trade up to the equally lightweight Elise Sprint 220 (pictured) for £44,300; its supercharged 1. 8-litre Toyota engine is good for 257bhp per tonne and 0-60mph in 4. 1sec.

Radical Mopar Jeep concepts to storm 2017 Easter Safari

Another year, another set of wild concept off-roaders from Jeep and its parts and customisation arm Mopar.

The 51st annual Easter Jeep Safari kicks off on 8 April, so the two brands have once again teamed up to show off the best of what they can do.

In order to impress the die-hard fans that visit the Easter Safari in their thousands, these concepts are extreme even by Mopar standards.

All of the new concepts are kitted out with production and prototype-spec Mopar parts and will be thrashed at the event to test out just how durable they are. Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2017: what have we got?.

One of the softer, more 'family friendly' concepts, the Safari is designed to give those on the rear pew the best view.

The (cue eye-roll) 'windoors' are made from aluminium and clear vinyl and the rear seats can rotate outwards so your passengers can pap elephants and giraffes with fewer heads in the way.

Jeep has gone back in time with this one, resurrecting the design of the 1993 ZJ.

The shape has been spruced up with custom 18-inch wheels and beefed-up wheelarches, but touches like a '90s car phone and period materials inside help keep the classic look.

It's still capable of taking on the rough stuff, too, with a massive V8, selectable locking diffs and raised suspension.

According to Jeep, this one is a 'loud, fast and fun hot rod.' It's built to take on the dunes of the Mojave, but the lack of door windows and open roof means that you'll probably be swallowing some of it, too.

Along with the brutish V8 with open headers, there's a winch in case you get a little too enthusiastic/reckless/stuck (delete where appropriate). The Trailpass is all about boosting the new Compass's off-road abilities.

Finished in a fetching shade of green with flashes of orange, the Trailpass gets bespoke leather seats, chunky Continental TerrainContact tyres and a roof basket for all your action sports gear.

The Switchback pretty much crashed its way through the Mopar parts warehouse. The Wrangler-based concept is packed to the rafters with heavy-duty equipment including Dana 44 front and rear axles, toughened differential covers and a winch.

It's alive! The CJ 66 is built using parts from three different generations of Wrangler, so it's basically Frankenstein's monster with a HEMI V8.

Finished in US President Orange (officially known as Copper Canyon Orange), the CJ 66 is the sum of Mopar's crazy ideas made real.

The Luminator has enough lights on it to at the very least cause a fair amount of tanning to anyone coming the other way.

The concept has been built to showcase all of Mopar's new lighting tech - just don't look directly at it for too long.

Rock 'n' Roller: Rolls-Royce Wraith 'Inspired by British Music' specials revealed

Rolls-Royce has teamed up with a variety of famous British musicians to create nine bespoke collectors'-edition Rolls-Royce Wraiths.

Each car has been tailored with one-off design details inspired by the musician in question, and a proportion of each car's value will be donated to a charity of each artist's choice.

The first cars in the 'Inspired by British Music' series were unveiled at an event in London yesterday evening, by their corresponding artists: The Kinks' Sir Ray Davies, The Who's Roger Daltrey and Giles Martin, son of 'the fifth Beatle', producer Sir George Martin.

The Roger Daltrey 'Tommy' car. Each musician spent time with Rolls-Royce's Bespoke department designer Matthew Danton and design director Giles Taylor at the firm's Goodwood HQ to plan their car's design details.

Lead singer of The Who, Roger Daltrey, has agreed to create two cars for the project – this is the first, inspired by the 1969 album Tommy.

'We had a considerable amount of freedom [in this project],' designer Matthew Danton told CAR. 'As you can see from the exterior we got something bold from the result.

'The artwork was by Mike McInnerney [the original album sleeve artist]. We sat with him and Roger to understand from them what we could capture on the car.

Of all the cars we've finished so far, this catches everyone's eye – I do like it a lot.'.

Apart from the eye-catching airbrushed bonnet art, other individual details include embroidered artwork on the headrests and a pinball machine motif on the leather 'waterfall' surface between the rear seats – a nod to the song Pinball Wizard.

A portion of the car's value will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust, of which Daltrey is a patron. Daltrey hot-footed direct from the Wraith's unveil to the Royal Albert Hall to prepare for a concert in aid of the charity.

Fabled songwriter Ray Davies has lyrics from Kinks songs Shangri-La and, appropriately, Drivin' engraved on the door-flights in his own handwriting, along with his signature on the headrests.

There's a hidden easter egg in the umbrellas within the Wraith's doors, engraved with re-written lyrics from Sunny Afternoon – 'when it's raining on a sunny afternoon, in the summertime.'. The Sir George Martin tribute car.

Rolls' designers worked with the producer and composer's son Giles Martin to create a tribute car with details including the embroidered title of each number one song by the Beatles in the leather waterfall, along with part of the original handwritten arrangement of Yesterday.

What about the other six cars?. So far Rolls-Royce has confirmed it has begun work on the next run of Wraiths with Dame Shirley Bassey, Francis Rossi from Status Quo and Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, with further collaborations yet to be announced.

Haven't there been Rolls-Royce 'Inspired by Music' cars before?. Each car in the series is itself based on the Wraith Inspired by Music, a special edition fitted with an eye-wateringly expensive 1300-watt 18-channel hi-fi system.

'The "Inspired by Music" is the base vehicle, a highly specced car anyway, with added detail by the artist on top,' Matthew Danton explains. Further limited-run 'Inspired by…' Rollers have included Inspired by Fashion and Inspired by Film editions.

No word yet on whether any of the upcoming one-off Wraiths will be finished with paintwork like John Lennon's psychedelic Phantom V, or driven into a swimming pool à la Keith Moon….

Another instalment in Volkswagen's spring-cleaned Golf range has gone on sale in the UK: the petrol-electric plug-in hybrid VW Golf GTE has been given its own set of updates for 2017. Golf GTE 2017: what's new?.

A lower price – approximately £3420 less than the pre-facelift Golf GTE, model for model. A posher trim level, the GTE Advance, to sit above the entry-level GTE. It adds bigger wheels, a bigger touchscreen, tinted windows and heated seats.

Same updates as the rest of the 'Mk7.5' Golf range: gently redrawn all-LED headlamps, an animated digital instrument panel (same Active Info Display available in the Passat), semi-autonomous braking and pull-away in traffic jams, and a choice of larger touchscreens mid-dash, among sundry smaller tweaks.

Excluding the current government plug-in car grant, the entry-level Golf GTE costs £30,635 and the GTE Advance £32,135. Both are available with a five-door hatchback shell only. What makes it go?.

As before, the combination of a 148bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 75kW electric motor, with a total system output of 201bhp. The battery can be pre-charged from the mains in around 3hrs45mins, or 2hrs15mins from a wallbox.

Optimum range under electric power only is 31 miles, same figure as the pre-facelift GTE, with a total range of more than 500 miles when both the fuel tank and the 8. 7kWh battery pool their resources.

Likewise there's no change to the pre-facelift GTE's performance figures: 0-62mph in a useful 7.6sec and 138mph flat-out. Factoring its electric range in, the entry-level GTE has CO2 emissions rated at 38g/km, and the larger-wheeled GTE Advance at 40g/km.

new NXT Champion Drew McIntyre after the main event.

But we all know that a hot indy star doesn't officially join WWE until they pose for a

11 Cole is a bit shorter than 6 foot 4 Triple H - and therefore significantly shorter than

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this is precisely why Cole has

been debuted in a faction along with fellow former ROH wrestlers Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby

Fish, to get round the dynamic of a huge babyface against a small heel.

The faction could soon be drastically raising its overall height average, though, with other

former ROH wrestler Donovan Dijak rumoured to join the group, who stands over two metres

tall at 6 foot 7.

Huge NXT Star To Main Roster?

The first set of TV tapings following TakeOver: Brooklyn III began last night, and it seems

another major star in the promotion will be following Bobby Roode up to the main roster.

As this is for an episode of NXT that hasn't yet aired, spoiler warning in 3...2...1…

NXT Women's Champion Asuka had one of the best matches of the weekend, successfully

defending against Ember Moon, but it came at a cost - she broke her right collarbone

at some point during the match.

She still finished the bout, somehow showing no sign that she was injured.

The Wrestling Observer reports she's expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks,

where usually WWE would just create a new champion - similar to Naomi relinquishing

her belt two months before this year's Wrestlemania.

But Asuka's reign has been far more significant - an undefeated streak stretching back over

500 days.

All was revealed at last night's NXT TV taping, though, where Asuka relinquished her

title to General Manager William Regal.

The WWE.com article covering the news wrote "Her reign will officially end on the date

that her historic announcement airs" and then teased…

"The Empress of Tomorrow looks to her future for new opportunities in WWE."

Just like Roode, who made his Smackdown debut on Tuesday, Asuka has been rumoured for a

main roster call-up for months - with there being very little else to do for her in developmental.

Asuka's undefeated run in NXT isn't the only noteworthy streak in WWE.

Another top wrestler has found themselves in a bit of a stretch.

Why would Vince McMahon put who he sees as the future of the company on a losing streak?

According to Dave Meltzer on Twitter, it's to get him over:

And regarding the Summerslam main event finish, Wrestling News World added:

"Make no mistake about it, Roman was pinned to send the crowd home happy."

Hyundai has been making large strides in the American vehicle market over the past years,

and soon they'll be entering a new market: Trucks.

In a recent article, Reuters confirmed that Hyundai is developing a small truck.

Yes, that's right, a SMALL truck, not a midsize or full size.

Vice President Michael J O'Brien says it will be similar to the Santa Cruz concept

that Hyundai revealed in 2015.

The Santa Cruz was an extremely unique truck, one that eschews nearly every standard set

by the big three.

So let's take a look at it, and what it could mean for the future of trucks.

Hyundai didn't design the Santa Cruz concept for truck guys, they even said that they didn't

design this truck for towing, payloads or ground clearance.

So who was it designed for?

Urban Adventurers, aka, millennials.

It's a truck for someone who needs an open bed and seating for five.

One scenario they brought up at the reveal was throwing your stinky gym bag in the bed

so you don't stink up your SUV.

As we mentioned earlier, this is a small truck.

They didn't give bed measurements, but they did show off a cool bed extension feature

that makes the bed approximately the size of a midsize truck.

A nifty feature for an Urban Adventurer.

It's also got tie downs throughout the bed, roof, and even in the wheel wells for when

you've got an extra large load to carry.

Another cool feature is an integrated hard roll up tonneau cover.

For someone who isn't a big truck fan and just needs something for those rare occasions,

but wants to keep their cargo secure that could be a big selling point.

Hyundai seems to be taking a similar approach to Honda in that their target market is people

who would normally buy a car or SUV but want extra utility without the size and cost.

Although they never mentioned a price at the Santa Cruz Reveal, they spoke a few times

about how modern trucks are just too expensive.

Could we see a small pickup priced at under 20k?
