Neymar is no longer a Barcelona player after his release clause was met.
A statement posted on Barcas official website read: On Thursday afternoon Neymar Jrs legal representatives visited in person the Clubs offices
and made the payment of 222 million euros in the players name with regards to the unilateral termination of the contract that united both parties.
As such, the Club will pass on to UEFA the details of the above operation so that they can determine the disciplinary responsibilities that may arise from this case.
Neymars fee was initially thought to be £195m but the ever-changing exchange rate means that figure has rocketed to a stunning £200m.
The 25-year-old is now on the verge of becoming the worlds most expensive player when he pens a five-year deal with PSG.
It is believed Neymar will pocket a staggering £500,000-a-week AFTER tax to join the French giants.
Neymar is already believed to have completed his medical ahead of the move when he touched down in Portugal on Wednesday.
Neymar landed at Porto airport on Wednesday to undergo his PSG medical.
Neymar is about to smash the world-record to become the most expensive player ever.
What is a buy-out clause? The Spanish buy-out clause system is extremely complicated.
But, effectively, the fee is a pre-determined amount set between a club and a player upon signing a contract.
In order to trigger a release, the player will need to pay his own clause — and has the money transferred to him from the buying club.
If the transfer is done on good terms, it can be a relatively simple procedure which imitates any other deal.
In that case, when the money is transferred to the player's account, it is then liable for taxation at a rate of around 18 per cent.
Should the deal become hostile, the selling club could refuse to negotiate until forced to — as Barcelona are doing in this instance.
It would then go before a tribunal and the rate for tax then ranges from 20 to 47 per cent.
So, a player with a buy-out clause of £40million could actually cost as much as £58.8m.
That means the Neymar transfer could even cost Paris Saint-Germain as much as £300million, in theory.
