Adam Lallana out for two months after Liverpool star picked up thigh injury in pre-season clash with Atletico Madrid

ADAM LALLANA will be out for the next two months after picking up a thigh injury against Atletico Madrid. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed the England star would likely be out for a couple of months, not weeks.

Adam Lallana will be out for months not weeks with a thigh injury.

Jurgen Klopp said Lallana will probably not be back until October. Klopp told the told Liverpool website: This is certainly not news we would have wanted.

Unfortunately, the damage is such that it will likely mean Adam is out for a couple of months not weeks, so I think we can pretty much rule him out of August and September.

Beyond that we will monitor and wait and see. He is a boy with a world-class attitude to everything professionally and he has always come back in good time from injury setbacks since I have been here, so we will see.

Lallana was one of Liverpools top performers last season, scoring eight goals in 31 Premier League matches as the Reds qualified for the Champions League.

If the injury is bad as currently feared, Lallana will miss the two-leg Champions League play-off with Hoffenheim.

Adam Lallana was injured in the pre-season clash with Atletico Madrid in midweek.

Lallana scored eight Premier League goals last season to help the Reds qualify for the Champions League. Hoffenehim coach Julian Nagelsmann heaped pressure on the Reds – stating hes already started preparing for the clash.

He said: They're definitely not jumping for joy in Liverpool due to the draw. It's great for the awareness of our club that this draw will bring us fully into the spotlight.

This is somehow Murphy's Law. Luckily, I've been looking at it this week at the Audi Cup. These were two very good games. It is, of course, a very difficult team, but there was no real easy draw anyway.

Barcelona now in 'advanced' talks with Liverpool over Philippe Coutinho deal but Reds still stand firm

BARCELONA are now in advanced talks with Liverpool over the transfer of Philippe Coutinho, according to reports in Spain.

The Spanish giants are wasting no time looking to replace Neymar who is quitting the Nou Camp in a stunning £198million move to Paris Saint-Germain. Barcelona are in advanced talks with Liverpool over signing Philippe Coutinho.

Barcelona have targeted the Liverpool star after Neymar decided to quit for PSG. Barca have already seen two bids rejected by Liverpool as they make signing Coutinho their number one priority.

But respected Spanish reporter Marcelo Belcher claims the La Liga club are unwilling to give up their pursuit of the Brazilian playmaker.

Belcher has been among the most accurate journalists reporting on the saga that has seen Neymar decide to quit Barca for France.

And he has revealed bosses from the Nou Camp are now locked in negotiations with Liverpool trying to put together a deal to sign Coutinho.

The Reds are desperate not to sell their most influential player as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title.

But amid claims personal terms between Barca and the player have already been agreed, they are fighting an increasingly difficult battle.

  Philippe Coutinho free-kick helps send Liverpool into the Champions League. Barca are putting together a bid of £96m they believe will finally be enough to convince Anfield bosses to agree to the transfer.

And they are pushing to wrap up the deal as early as this weekend in order to present him as a Barca player to their supporters on Monday.

The Hammers are desperately trying to tie their playmaker down to a new long-term contract at the London Stadium, aware of the interest from Anfield.

LIVERPOOL have been boosted in their pursuit of Naby Keita – but still look unlikely to sign the RB Leipzig star until next summer. The Reds have been chasing the Guinea international midfielder all summer.

Naby Keita will not sign a new deal with RB Leipzig and will join Liverpool next summer.

Jurgen Klopp is ready to wait 12 months until the stars £48m release clause comes into effect. Jurgen Klopp has seen two bids rejected for the 22-year-old, the second being £66million, as the Bundesliga outfit stood firm.

The Premier League giants have been told he is not for sale at any price. Ex-Red Bell Salzburg man Keita is under contract in Germany until 2020.

However, Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick has admitted he is unlikely to sign an extension with the club. That means he will be available for £48m in twelve months due to a clause in his current contract.

And that will put Klopp in prime position to launch another move in a year.

Liverpool have had two bids rejected for Naby Keita this summer.

Leipzig chief Ralf Rangnick admits that Keita is unlikely to sign a contract extension.

Rangnick told Sport Bild: "I am not currently assuming that we will be able to extend his contract prematurely. "I can assure you that Naby is playing with us this season.

"All other scenarios also depend on how we do this season, how Naby plays himself and so on. Jurgen Klopp will now have to look elsewhere this summer for reinforcements.

Naby Keita wants to leave Leipzig and has his heart set on Liverpool.

Keita only joined Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg a year ago. Even though Klopp will now look elsewhere to bolster his squad, he is still expected to take advantage of the clause when it kicks in.

Keita only moved to Leipzig at the beginning of last season and scored eight times as he helped his newly-promoted team finish second in the top-flight. He has won 25 caps for his country and scored three goals.

We continue to round up the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumours on Friday, including a possible departure for left-back Alberto Moreno.

The Reds are set to round off their pre-season campaign against Liga side Athletic Bilbao at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on Saturday evening, after a productive summer's preparation.

They will then take on Watford at Vicarage Road to kick off the 2017/18 season, before their first of two play-off clashes with Hoffenheim as they bid to seal their place in the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp's side will have played five competitive games before the end of the transfer window, and there is still plenty of business to do off the field ahead of the deadline on August 31. Watford Make Moreno Enquiry.

While the Reds are set to travel to Hertfordshire on August 12, one of their number may already be settling in with the Hornets.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Watford are one of two Premier League sides to make enquiries over a possible deal to sign Alberto Moreno.

The Spaniard produced an excellent performance in Tuesday night's Audi Cup win over Bayern Munich, but that is unlikely to salvage his career on Merseyside.

However, the Echo report that "it is unknown whether a deal would be concluded by [next weekend], or if the Hornets can afford to pay the club's asking price.

Liverpool are looking for around £15 million for the 25-year-old, and have already rejected an £11 million bid from Napoli. Chelsea to Make Bold Bid for Van Dijk.

Virgil van Dijk's continued absence from Southampton's pre-season training has fuelled speculation over a summer move to Liverpool.

But the Times claim that the Reds are not the only side looking to sign the Dutchman, with Chelsea preparing a big-money approach this month.

Antonio Conte is said to have "persuaded the club to make a firm bid," though this is expected to be just £50 million.

Southampton are previously reported to value Van Dijk at over £60 million, which would break the transfer record for a defender, set earlier this summer on Benjamin Mendy's move to Man City.

If the Saints are willing to negotiate with Chelsea, however, it could open the door for Liverpool to make their own move. Reds Not Pursuing Keita Alternative in Andre.

With Liverpool's move to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita breaking down, reports from France claim that Klopp has identified an alternative.

Le Telegramme named Rennes' Benjamin Andre as the Reds' next target, even suggesting they would bid £15 million for the 27-year-old.

Andre made 121 successful tackles in Ligue 1 last season, the fourth most of any player in the French top flight, and would certainly add further steel to Klopp's midfield ranks.

According to German outlet SportBuzzer, one Liverpool player could be on their way to join Hannover 96, with the Bundesliga side in talks with Reds representative Julian Ward.

The identity of this player is unclear, but SportBuzzer rule out Divock Origi, Lazar Markovic and Sheyi Ojo.

Beyond that trio, the obvious choice would be Ryan Kent, who is attracting widespread interest from Championship clubs, but Joe Gomez could also be an option. Villa Lead Chase for Kent Loan.

Ryan Kent may soon be ruled out of the running, of course, with the 20-year-old believed to be considering his next move after a raft of loan offers.

Hull City and Leeds United were both reported to have had bids accepted for the winger, but according to the Birmingham Mail, they may have been pipped to the post.

They claim that Aston Villa are the most likely club to sign Kent this summer, following the arrival of Tottenham's Josh Onomah on a season-long loan on Friday.

Whether Klopp should sanction Kent's departure is questionable, however, with the Englishman making a promising impact in pre-season. Randall Set For Midfield Role at Hearts.

Finally, one Liverpool loanee has revealed he is set for a surprise positional switch at his new club.

Connor Randall, who spent much of his recent years on Merseyside operating at right-back or left-back, has explained how he is in line for a midfield role at Hearts.

"It really excites me to play in midfield. I like playing in there and I think I can offer the team good things in there," he told the Edinburgh Evening News.

"I can sit in midfield or play one in front. I've got a lot of energy. I get up and down the pitch and I'm very energetic.

"I like to press players and be aggressive. Speaking to the coaching staff here, that's what they want.".
