In today's episode, we'll be discussing the latest, big update.
We'll also be telling you about Alterations,
and showing you the best entries from the Women's day postcard contest.
Last weekend we had the second supplies experiment.
The test parameters were as follows:
Active time was shortened
Cooldown time was INcreased
but smart cooldown times were DEcreased
Our survey data gave us mixed feedback.
On one hand, players like the element of fair play,
where skill matters and you need to manage supply drops effectively.
Additionally, it is much easier to activate a full set of supplies.
On the other hand,
many players didn't like that playing has become more complicated,
and that you can't use supplies as soon as you join a battle.
They feel that supplies work well as they are,
and shouldn't be changed.
So for now, it is still too early to make any conclusions.
We will continue researching statistics and user feedback.
Development news.
Last Thursday, we released a big update
that will make life a lot easier for newbie tankers.
Let's start with M0 equipment.
M0 turrets and hulls are now cheaper,
and available for purchase from the very first rank.
This means that players
can now choose their playing style from day one.
Of course, the characteristics for these turrets and hulls have also changed.
A few weeks ago, we experimented
with changing the number of micro- upgrade steps for M0 equipment.
We reduced the number of micro- upgrade steps from 50 to 10,
so now, each step makes a significant difference in performance.
Additionally, the total cost for fully micro-upgrading a piece of M0 equipment
is now cheaper.
Now, fully micro-upgrading an M0 without using speed-ups,
costs the same as buying a stock M1.
With this week's update, we did the same for M1 equipment.
The total cost for fully micro- upgrading an M1, is cheaper,
but speed up cost has increased,
and there are now 10 micro- upgrade steps for M1 items.
By the way, any micro-upgrades that were being processed when the update went live,
have automatically been completed and rounded up in favor of the player.
Now, let's talk about Alterations; specifically, about rentals.
With the latest update, you can now rent Alteration for crystals.
Renting an Alteration costs five thousand crystals,
and the price remains the same whether it's M1 or M2.
We created Alterations so that players could try new gameplay styles
without having to buy and upgrade new pieces of equipment.
This should make them even more affordable.
And now some details
about the global experiment with turret and hull characteristics.
Basically, we've reduced the gap between M0 and M3 equipment
in order to counter the pay2win effect.
The changes in micro-upgrades, and the supplies experiment,
were done for the same reason.
With this update,
we only changed the damage for turrets, and the hitpoints for hulls.
This was done in a way that gives a big boost to low-level modifications,
and a smaller boost to high-level modifications.
Additionally, we've changed some prices in the Garage.
Bulk discounts have been removed,
and product kits will no longer be affected by sales,
so their prices will remain constant.
Additionally, bonus supplies have been removed from Product Kits.
We understand that players aren't happy with these changes,
however, they were a necessary evil to normalize game economics,
so this is a change we'll need to get used to.
On Wednesday, we announced the winners of the Women's Day Postcard contest.
The international jury of Tanki Community Managers, chose the best entry.
Its author received fifty thousand crystals and 10 gold boxes.
Additionally, our jury chose more than forty runners up,
who received twenty thousand crystals and 3 gold boxes each, for their efforts.
