Salvage operation continues on sunken Sewol-ho ferry - Duration: 3:47.

We begin with the massive operation to raise the Sewol-ho ferry, which sank nearly three

years ago in one of the worst maritime disasters in Korea's history.

Workers have made progress overnight, but there's been a slight delay in the plan to

get the vessel above the water line, which was no easy task considering its sheer size

and weight.

Let's get an update on the operation from our Shin Se-min,... who's on the ground for

us.

Se-min,... give us the latest... including the weather... which is an important factor

here.

Mark.

We're seeing some more traffic, with some visitors stopping by,... at Paengmok-hang

Harbor, the nearest point of land to the tragic site.

The weather seems to be holding for now, but we had some light rain and wind earlier.

The weather doesn't seem to have affected the salvaging operation too much, but there's

been a change to the previous plan.

Although they'd wanted to pull the ferry up by eleven in the morning, the plan now is

to achieve that goal sometime this afternoon or possibly later this evening.

But that's only provided the weather holds.

In terms of the progress so far, the oceans ministry confirmed early this morning that

the right side of the ferry had been brought up above the water line for the first time

in nearly three years, revealing a rusty and scratched surface.

This is a monumental task,... bringing a 145-meter long, 68-hundred ton ferry up from the seabed.

Such a dangerous and complex operation can only be done when the sea is calm, with waves

under one-meter and the wind speed below 10-meters per second.

So what's the timeline for the rest of the day,... providing the weather and sea conditions

stay favorable?

We are hoping to see some significant progress in the coming hours...

Well, they are already behind schedule,... as they'd previously predicted that the ferry

would be above the water line by now.

Even so, the government has set a deadline of Friday, which is tomorrow,

for the completion of the first stage of the salvaging operation.

That involves placing the ferry onto a semi-submersible ship for transport to Mokpo New Port, some

90 kilometers away from here.

Friday is the last day of the March neap tide, when the gap between the high and low tides

is at its minimum.

If all goes as planned, the recovered ship will be placed at Mokpo New Port so workers

can undertake a search for the nine bodies that are still missing after the ferry sinking

three years ago... and hopefully they'll also get some answers

as to what exactly was the cause of this terrible disaster that is still so engrained in the

minds of the Korean people.

Back to you.

D Trump Jr. Criticized London Mayor Terror Attack | Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter on Wednesday - Duration: 1:06.

Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter on Wednesday to criticize London Mayor Sadiq Khan while details of the Westminster terror attack were still emerging.

"You have to be kidding me?!" Trump Jr. tweeted with a link to an article dating back to September 2016 from British newspaper the Independent.

"Terror attacks are part of living in big city, says London Mayor Sadiq Khan."

His cited article detailed remarks Khan made following a bombing incident in New York City's Chelsea neighborhood.

Trump Jr.'s assessment of Khan's comments were misleading, however.

The mayor did not imply that terrorism is a part of everyday life in big cities — he said that preparedness is "part and parcel of living in a big city."

"That means being vigilant, having a police force that is in touch with communities, it means the security services being ready, but it also means exchanging ideas and best practice,"

the Independent reported Khan saying to another British paper, the Evening Standard.

Nothing is more important to me than keeping Londoners safe," Khan added.

"I want to be reassured that every single agency and individual involved in protecting our city has the resources and expertise they need to respond in the event that London is attacked."

Some Britons fired back at Trump Jr., accusing him of mischaracterizing Khan's comments during an ongoing incident.
