Youtube daily report Mar 5 2017

Hi, it's Maija here, and today I'm just going

to do a wrap-up of the comics that I read

during the #GettingGraphic readathon,

which was hosted by Elena and Kaitlin one

Saturday. And I read 1-2-3-4- 5 comics, and I'll

just go through them now. So the first thing that I finished

was Princess Jellyfish Volume 2 by Akiko

Higashimura. And this is a story of Tsukimi,

who is a jellyfish geek, and she lives

in this one house together with a bunch

of other geek girls, like one of them is

into trains, one of them is into kimonos

and Japanese dolls. So the series

starts when one night Tsukimi meets Kuranosuke,

who is this guy who likes to dress

up as a girl, and they become friends, but

they have to hide the fact that Kuranosuke

is a guy, because in the house

rules there is that you can't bring a guy

to the house. The main plot of the

story is that this house in which these

geek girls live, is under threat of a

redevelopment. So there is this

redevelopment plan where this company is

trying to buy all the houses in their

neighborhood and tear them down and build

something else in their place. And since this

bunch of geek women are 30-somethings

with no regular income - they don't really

have a job - they live in this house for

quite cheap, and if that house was to be

sold and torn down, they really wouldn't have

another place that they could easily go

and also they would lose this sense of

community that they have. So it's about

the relationship between these two,

about this threat that the house is under,

and just the geeky shenanigans that

the women get into, and it's really fun

and lovely. The only thing that I'm not

into in this book is this one storyline

that has to do with Kuranosuke's older

brother, Shu, where this one woman who is

part of the redevelopment company

wants to gain influence in Shu's family and

it's just really uncomfortable to read,

and also I hope it's not going where it

could quite easily go, which is that the

woman would become actually romantically

interested in Shu and they would end up

as a real couple. And I would be having

none of that if that happens - so I hope that's not

where the storyline will go. But

otherwise these are really fun and

lovely and quite touching at times, and I

gave this one four stars. Then I read more

manga, I read the first two volumes of

Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo, and these are

the Finnish editions, I think these two volumes

are one volume in the English

editions. This is a real science fiction

classic, and the world and everything

that's going on is really intriguing. It's set

in a future Tokyo about 30 years

after the Third World War, and the main

characters are friends called Kaneda and

Tetsuo. Kaneda leads this motorcycle

gang that Tetsuo is also a part of, and one

night they are biking and Tetsuo gets into

an accident. So there's this little kid who looks

like an old man, who is just standing in the middle

of the road, and Tetsuo's bike crashes

and he gets taken in to a military

hospital, where the military finds that Tetsuo might

have some powers that they might want to

use. There's also something called

Akira, who has been cryogenically frozen

and we are not clearly told what Akira is, yet.

And then there's also this rebel faction

who wants to find Akira, one member of

that is this girl called Kay and this guy

called Ryu, and Kaneda gets tangled up

with them. Like I said, this is really

detailed and really interesting, but one

thing about this is that the guys, they're

about 15 year old motorcycle gang

members, and they're really annoying! I

was just sympathizing so much with Kay

and Ryu when they had to deal with Kaneda.

They are just these thoughtless teenage boys who

like to take drugs and ride

around on motorcycles... A girl at Kaneda's

school tells him that she's pregnant and

his response is pretty much: "wow, cool, can I

come watch while you give birth?" and then

ask her for more of the drugs that she's

smuggling to him from the doctor's office.

So they are, like, classy people. I have

read this whole series before, but I do

not remember a lot about it. I sort of hesitantly

do recommend it, because it is a science fiction

classic, but I can tell more when I have

read the whole thing. Just know if you

want to start it that there are some pretty annoying

characters in this. I gave these two so far about

3 stars, I think they will get a lot better once

the main plot starts to really get going.

Then I continued with a horror comic

series called Harrow County, this

is Volume 3: Snake Doctor. It is written by Cullen

Bunn and the art is by Tyler Crook, but

this one has also a couple of guest

artists. And this volume is only four

issues long, and it's sort of this middle

volume where the story isn't progressing

that much. And the two issues that are done

by guest artists are sort of these one-off

stories, but then there's the two issues

that are done by the regular artist, and I thought

that the story in that brought things along

a bit and also gave it some more depth,

so I really did enjoy those parts. So the

main character of this is Emmy, who

learns that she has magical powers and

is a descendant of this witch whom her

parents and her parents' friends killed

before she was born. This is one of the

guest artist issues, that I thought was perhaps the

weakest, story-wise. There's also one at the

beginning. But I did really love the artwork in

the regular artist's ones, especially this

splash page. There are also some quite cool covers, this

one being my favorite along with the

illustration that is on the cover,

also, which is this one, which is just so

beautiful and creepy. I still did end up

giving this about four stars, I think

that's a bit too much since the stories

aren't that strong - perhaps 3.5 would be

more along the lines - but I just really

loved some of the art, so that's why I

gave it four stars. And the final thing that I read

for #GettingGraphic was The Encyclopedia

of Early Earth by Isabel Greenberg. This is a story

of this storyteller guy who leaves North Pole

on his way to the South Pole and the

adventures that he has in between. It's

set in a make-believe world with make-

believe cultures that sort of resemble

our historical cultures, and I did find

it very enjoyable to read, especially when

the storyteller and the people he meets

are telling the stories of their cultures.

There also these God characters, The Eagle God Birdman

and his kids, who get tangled up with the

storyteller's journey, sort of making it

a game between them.

The Encyclopedia of Early Earth was a three star read for me;

I did find it enjoyable to read, but I

wasn't really captured by it. I do have

Isabel Greenberg's other work from the

library, as well, The 100 Nights of Hero, I

think it's called, and I've heard great

things about that, so I'm looking forward to

it, and I'm also currently reading the

third volume of Princess Jellyfish - so far, so

good. Then I have the third to fifth volumes

of Akira out from the library.

I don't know if there is more of Harrow

County released yet in volumes, but I

will keep an eye out for it, as well. So

I'll be continuing on with all of these

series and all of these creators. I did

enjoy everything that I read, and I want to

thank the hosts for hosting this readathon, and I

hope they will do it again. I think they

might have already released the date for

the next readathon, I have forgotten, but if

you want to check it out I will leave a

link to their twitter down below. So

that's everything that I read for the Getting

Graphic read-a-thon, let me know if you've

read some of these comics, and if you took

part, did you read some great comics

yourself? I'm really looking forward to

continuing on with these series as well

as the next readathon. I hope you're

having a great day and I will see you

later in my next video. Bye!

Trip to Dent de Vaulion - Feb. 2017 [1080p, ENG + HUN SUB] - Duration: 8:33.

Welcome everyone on the first trip of the season!

We try to climb...

...there!

We hoped that this route will not contain any snow, but that is only partially true.

Also today is a very special occasion,

because a guest hiker, Boris,

is also here with me!

So we try to get to Dent de Vaulion,

last year it was a really painfull trip with a lot of snow and bad weather.

Let's see how it will be this year!

We arrived here to Sur le Voué...

...or something like this,

~1100 m

So far it was only moderate snow.

The route to Vallorbe is still very muddy,

My friend Boris, he wants to tell you some secret about functional analysis

or his opinion about the trip, depends on him:

Bring shoes!

Bring good shoes,

not like this!

Probably something like this is better to come with,

but we will see how deep the snow will get later on!

You know they have these small balls...

Are you recording this?

Yes!

No, i'm not gonna talk about goat sh*t!

You just did!

We made it! We are at the peak,

you can *see* it there!

It is really windy, so sorry for the bad noise!

We made it in three and a half hour,

we had a beautiful view,

oh, Boris is having lunch,

and also enjoying the wind and some snow in his shoes,

but otherwise he is fine.

How do you comment on this hike so far?

It is nice.

Didn't you regret to come?

No, but bring stuff!

Be prepared, heh?

Yeah!

We arrived to Col du Mollendruz,

in one and a half hour,

the snow was hindering us pretty much.

And we start the last leg of the journey,

on the way behind me,

which should be two and a half hour back to the parking lot.

And we really have to hurry,

because the sun

is going down in about two hours!

So we will see, if we make it,

before the darkness comes!

It is five o'clock,

we are still on the way in the mud,

we should have been at the car by now,

based on the calculations in the morning.

Obviously we are not.

We will reach Juriens in a couple of minutes hopefully,

Hopefully!

and then the car is just one village far from Juriens

which will be

a walk in the park!

Obviously and hopefully!

Yeah, we were hindered by the snow

way too much, we lost like

probably at least two hours or something like that.

But Greg caught 50 pokemon on Pokémon GO.

No, com'on!

I didn't play Pokémon GO,

I spared the battery, so at the end I can tell you,

how much we walked.

Boris is trying to touch a donkey, we will see if he survives

<German speaking>

This will be in the subtitle as "german speaking"

He is a bit shy.

You know if you have food it is much easier!

Do you have something? But I don't want to feed someone else's!

He is afraid of this!

No no no, it is okay.

We are back!

On this 7 hour and 40 minutes warm-up hike,

which was hindered by some snow and other things.

Thank you for joining us on the first trip of this season!

I let Boris also say goodbye to everyone!

See you on the next trip!

Bye!

Makeup Declutter: Lip Care, Lip Liners & Lip Glosses - Duration: 17:36.

Hello everyone and welcome to my channel!

I will declutter some lip makeup today

I will declutter my lip makeup in two part

In this part I'll declutter my lip care products, lip liners and lip glosses

I have storage my lip products in candle holders

These simple ones are from Ikea

And these with a heart in them are from Jysk

I have some new organizers

But I will store my lip makeup in these candle holders until I get the second part decluttered

Lets start from lip care products

Here I have all of my actual lip care products and tinted lip balms

I have only two lip balms here

I actually have one more lip balm

But I have no idea where it is

I don't have much lip balms because I'm not a lip balm fan

I use a lip balm if my lips are dry and that's it

For me it is just a part of skin care

But I do use tinted lip balms sometimes at no makeup makeup days

I have lip balm from carmex

I'm not sure if it's cruelty free or not but I'm going to use it up

I got this from LivBox and it's almost empty

Then I have a lip balm from The Body Shop

I was pleasantly surprised about this one

I think it was their most affordable lip balm

It is very moisturizing and it has good scent of watermelon

I will use up both of these

Then I have couple of other things

I have lip scrub from Elf and I like it

I like that it is on stick form

It is very effective so I will keep it

It's also affordable. I wouldn't pay much from a lip scrub

Then I have couple of lip plumpers

I have Elf Lip Primer & Plumper

The plumper side is quite moisturizing

But I don't like the tingly feeling of lip plumpers

The primer side is like concealer

I think it is a little too waxy and thick

And I never use a lip primer

I think it is an unnecessary step in lip makeup

There is no point in keeping something I never use

Then I have a lip plumper from Cougar cosmetics

I got this from Lip Monthly and I hate this

This may actually plump your lips a little bit

But I don't like how it feels on my lips

It tingles my lips very much

I don't want makeup to be a suffering and with this it is

It was not for me

I have here my tinted lip balms

I don't want to keep these Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balms

Burt's Bees is no longer Cruelty Free

They do cell in China

I'm not sure if they make their products in China

Or if the ingredients can be sold in China without animal testing

But in China they can always take a product from a store to test

I don't want to support a brand like this

I have a tinted lip balm from Pacifica

This is in shade Blood Orange and it is a warm orange red

I haven't used it yet because it is more a summer shade for me

It would probably look better with tanned skin so I'll test it later

Then I have the essence colour & care lipstick

I'm not going to swatch all of my products

This one I am swatching because I was really surprised about the pigment

It is actually a lipstick but I store it with my lip care products

This wasn't so good when I first tried it

But it started to feel creamier when the first layer came off

I will keep this one

Then I have the Every Day Minerals Tinted Lip Balm in Laugh

This came in a kit with three travel sized blush

I passed the blushes along because the packaging was so unpractical

I will probably pass this along with the kit

This has a shimmery tint

but this isn't moisturizing at all

I really expect my lip balm to moisturize my lips

This one feels waxy and hard on my lips

I don't want to keep this

Then I have a few lip oils

I have the Lumene Arctic Glow Lip Oil

I don't want to purchase from Lumene anymore because they can not prove that they are cruelty free

They were just added to Grey Area Brands list in Logical Harmony

There is so many certainly cruelty free brands out there that I don't want to use Lumene anymore

But I will use this one up

There is quite much left but I will take it to the pan project

But I will no longer buy Lumene products

Then I have Physician's Formula Argan Wear Lip Oils

The consistency in these is very similar to Lumene's Lip Oil

If you like the Lumene Lip Oil but you don't want to buy from a grey are brand

Physician's Formula is a cruelty free option

These are very similar to Lumene Lip Oil: very light weight and they have a small tint

They feel exactly the same on lips

I will keep these

I forgot to say in the beginning of this video

that I don't have the products from four of my latest Lip Monthlys in this declutter

I want to test the products and do a blog rewiev of them

So after that I will decide if I'm going to keep the products

I have all of my lip liners here

I will go through these by brand

I have a few of Gosh Velvet Lip Liners and I want to get all the shades

This is the best lip liner ever

This is very creamy, long lasting and pigmented

The lasting power of this is like from a different planet

I will show it to you by doing a swatch and wiping it off later

I will definitely keep these and get more shades

I have some long lasting lip liners from essence

I really like these even though they're not as good as the Gosh ones

I personally don't like retractable pencils

They are not sharp enough for me

But these are very creamy and pigmented

They don't last as long as the Gosh lip liners

But these are awesome lip liners for 2€ so I'll keep these

Then I have three regular lip liners from essence

These are really crappy pencils and I regret I even bought them

I should have tested one first

These are the worts lip liners I have ever used

Essence longlasting lip liners are very good but these are just hard and poorly pigmented

Now I don't use pressure

And now I use pressure

I will get rid of these

I have three lip liners from NYX

They are these regular ones

I don't like this dark shade

It's poorly pigmented and it looks patchy

I wish it was darker

I don't like it and I won't keep it

But I think I will keep the two other shades

I have a pink shade and a cool toned beige shade

The pigmentation is better and they go on more even than the dark shade

I have two lip liners from ColourPop

I have Lumeiere and Creature

I will swatch Creature for comparison

It is creamy and pigmented. Much better than the dark shade from NYX

These are not as long lasting as the Gosh lip liners

But they're good and ColourPop has a good shade selection

I will keep these

Then I have four more lip liners from random brands

I have lip liner from Pupa

I'm not sure if Pupa is cruelty free

They do have a statement at their website but I think it was quite confusing

I don't know

I think I could take this one to a pan project

I have been thinking that I could try Project Pan 17 products in 2017

This could be a nude lip liner to the project

I will keep this and try to use it up this year

I have a lip liner from Lord & Berry

Lord & Berry just made it to the Logical Harmony Cruelty Free Brands list

I am so happy because there haven't been too much information about the brand

I want to keep this. It is very creamy and pigmented lip liner

The shade is pretty and I don't have any other shade like this

So I will keep this and I'm happy that Lord & Berry is cruelty free brand

Then I have lip liner from ModelCo

I got it from Lip Monthly and it is a warm toned beige

It's cruelty free and I want to keep it

Then I have one lip liner from LaRitzy and I think they are cruelty free

I belive LaRitzy had earlier a subscription box service

But now they have only an online store

It's very nice purple shade

This is pigmented and creamy so I want to keep this

The swatches have dried out so I will show you the lasting power

The Gosh one doesn't move at all when I touch it

Essence one does move

and so does the ColourPop one

Put the Gosh one stays in place

It doesn't smudge at all

And it is why the Gosh lip liner is my favorite

I have to rub it with makeup remover wipe to get it off

Then I have my lip glosses left

I don't have too many lip glosses

I don't want to get too much similar lip gloss shades

because lip glosses may expire little faster

So I want to keep my lip gloss collection quite small

I have tried not to buy too much similar shades

I have all of theBalm Read My Lips glosses

I want to keep them all

I just wanted to collect all of them

The only shade I don't really care for is ZAAP!

It reminds me when I started to do makeup as a kid

It's very sheer and shimmery coral shade

I think it's very boring

But it is part of the collection so I will keep it

I have three of the NYX Butter Lip Glosses

I think these are my favorite lip glosses

theBalm ones are also good but these smell better

I have three shades: Tiramisu, Red Velvet and Devil's Food Cake

These came in one set and I would like to get few more shades

I will keep these

Then I have one lip gloss from rest of the brands

They are in random order so let's just go through them

This one I got from Lip Monthly and it is honestly the worst product I got from there

This is horrible

This is Wonder Lip Paint from J.Cat

This smells so disgusting that i don't want to even open it

The smell remainds me about garage. It smells like mix of some car oils and tire

I hate this and will not put this on my face

I have tested this once and it doesn't do anything

It's white, sheer and there's not shimmer so it looks like nothing on lips

I will just throw this away

I have from Lavera their Glossy Lips lip gloss in shade Almond Kiss

This is quite cool toned brown shade

I really like this

One of the best things I have gotten from LivBox so I will keep this one

I have a lip gloss from Cargo Cosmetics in Sahara

It's not my all time favorite but I do like it so I will keep it

This is very sheer

I have used this with and without lip liner

This has quite big glitter and this starts to feel little uncomfortable during the day

But this looks beautiful and it's not sticky, so I will keep this

I have Pacifica Lip Gloss in Opal. I bought it from iHerb

This is more peachy than the Cargo lip gloss

It is not as glittery

It has a sheen in it and it is very nude

I think it looks best on top of lip liner

I will keep this and I want to try more makeup from Pacifica

I have xxxl shine lipgloss from essence

They are discounting this in Finland, which is stupid

I like this

I have the shade big night out which is cool toned pinkish shade

This is very shimmery

I was pleasantly surprised because sometimes I don't have high hopes for affordable lip glosses

I am afraid that they are sticky, but this isn't

This really looks like 20€ lip gloss on lips

I will keep this one

I have the Too Faced Sweet Sunshines Lip Gloss

They have discontinued this

This is not my favorite because it is so bright corally shade

It has vey pretty metallic sheen

But I will keep this because this is a very nice summer shade

Then I have ColourPop lip gloss in Finders Keepers

This has a creamy finish

It's obviously glossy but there's not shimmer

This is my only mauve lip gloss

So I will keep this one

The last product is Milani Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss

If you have watched my "Makeup with products I hate" video, you know I don't like this one

This is very sticky

The shade is a pretty shimmery nude

But it is way too sticky on lips

I haven't used this many times because it's so sticky so I don't want to keep this

So this was the first part of my lip makeup declutter

I'm happy with it

There's not too many products I decluttered

But I'm happy to get rid of these

Except of these Burt's Bees lip balms. I'm sad because they are really good

But all of the other products I here I really hate and I wouldn't put them on my lips

I think this was a little boring declutter and the lipstick declutter might be more interesting

That will be my next declutter

I will declutter in it my regular lipsticks, lip crayons and liquid lipsticks

But I will probably do some other video before it

So see you soon! Bye!

Macbook Pro Hard Drive 3d print mod : Shop time #12 (subtitles) - Duration: 6:55.

hi everybody

and welcome to Shoptime

today we gonna mod a Macbook

Pro

of 2010

mid 2010

that I was given

And whose cable which is here

is usually linked to the hard drive

This cable looks damaged

So what i have done

i was able to instal a new hard drive

inside the computer

by using the hard drive instead of the dvd player

it works well

For the moment it hold ...

with duck tape

So what i will do

i'm downloading a "caddy"

they name this a "caddy"

To replace the

the old dvd player

and

take the shape

and put a hard drive instead

and use a little connector

to do the transition

between this and

the new hard drive

i already had a little caddy like this

but which is not compatible

thus, i just reused the caddy's connector

i will 3d model a caddy myself

to fix

the hard drive

the little connector

And that all that holds in place of the dvd player

i was browsing the web a little

theeeeeeeeeeee

if people already tried that

and i found one

somebody already did it

and i would like to download is 3d model

to take a look

but it's downloading ultra slowly

or not at all

I am damned

And we find ourselves 1 day later

i finished the 3d model in Fusion 360

the small caddy

and i send that right now on

the 3d printer here

i opened the file in my

favorite software

simplify3d

who enable me to edit the size of the support structures

because, you maybe saw it on 3d model

i putted holes to be able to access with my screwdriver

here behind

and screw the hard drive

it must not print in the emptiness

therefore, there is support material here

and also for this anchor

which is eleveted by few milimeters

my sweet little 3d model

just get out of the 3d printer

there was a small printing problem

otherwise it's very clean

there was just a problem

with the filling on the top

i only used 2 layers

and i have a little problem regarding this

because the nozzel don't totally go on the right and left of the overhang

Because there was not much support

to hold the filling

it was not easy for the machine to fill it

but so..

i will remove the support material

who form a sort of grid pattern

and will see...

the moment of truth

So this part with the hard drive

is perfectly adjusted

now we'll see if it fit inside the Macbook

so

it's inside

the screw hole that i made here

is not in the good place

the only screw able to hold

is this one

but it's not to bad because thus

there is these two screw

on the speaker

which come like this

and come to push everything

i will reconnect those cables

and normally

it will hold in place

and here i can come

easily

close the connection here

If I wanted to do everything super good I would have reprinted everything

but

i already spend enough time

on this computer which is

from 2010

And that is not necessarily worth more time than that

at this point it's not to bad

Here it is finished

i hope that the pratical use

of 3d print

to modify this little Macbook Will have pleased you

and

please consider subscribing

like

and see you soon in

The GCN Cycle Courier Challenge - Duration: 11:44.

- Is the Tour de France,

or the Olympics,

really the ultimate test for bikes?

We're not so sure that they are.

Instead, we think the ultimate test might actually be

the city streets that we ride

on a daily basis.

So, with that in mind,

what is the best type of bike for city riding?

What is the ultimate bike, in fact?

- Hm.

To find out,

for once we're actually gonna do some work.

We're gonna be cycle couriers

riding

for Deliveroo.

- That's right.

Matt is gonna be making his deliveries

aboard his cutting-edge road bike.

Looking cool, aerodynamic,

and perfectly at home as a natural ex-racer.

Me, however, I'm gonna be riding my Cyclocross bike.

I'm banking on it being a little bit more comfortable,

a little bit more forgiving,

and I think

even more fun.

And then Dan,

seriously mate, where is Dan?

- I don't know.

Found a

backpack and everything.

- [TV Voice] 20!

That's it, it's coming back.

15.

(light upbeat music)

- Hey Dan!

What are you doing?

You're supposed to be riding a town bike.

- Sorry, I was

I was just about to do some extra training first.

- I don't know what you're thinking, mate,

but you're not gonna need any extra training today.

(smooth music with heavy beat)

- [Simon] How is this all gonna work, then?

How do you become a delivery rider?

Well, in this case we signed up 48 hours ago,

had a brief interview and training session,

then we downloaded the Deliveroo app.

We say when we're wanting to ride

and then Deliveroo will send us jobs.

Pick up food or drink,

deliver it to customers,

simple as that.

- Oh, and we get paid.

Per delivery.

So you boys ready to get started?

- Yeah, ready. - We certainly are.

- [Simon] Okay.

- [Dan] Doesn't work without.

- You on yet?

- I have!

It's just come through.

Me first one.

- Good luck, mate. - See ya, lads.

Hey, hey! - Super cool.

- See if I can clip in.

First time, here we go!

- [Simon] Matt is first up,

riding his Canyon Aeroad Disc.

He is, it has to be said, at a bit of a disadvantage.

Nothing to do with his bike, of course.

It's the fact that he doesn't really know where he's going.

- My first

collection

from Zizzi's in Clifton.

It's a big pizza order.

Let's do this.

For this type of riding,

I'm really glad

I've got to use

this road bike, because

there's a lot of ground to cover today.

And also what you've got to bear in mind,

is that on a given shift,

a Deliveroo rider

can cover upwards

of 50kms.

And yes,

it might seem a little bit weird

that I'm riding a bike

that's crafted for aerodynamics,

and I've got

a big rucksack

on my back

but I am still gonna be cutting through the air

far more efficiently.

And considerably more efficiently than Simon

and loads more than Dan.

(light rock music)

Finally got out.

Packed my pizzas,

four pizzas on board,

and now ready to roll.

(light rock music)

- Got one.

- Alright mate, good luck.

- I'll put it on my handlebars later.

- Yeah.

You need to see where you're going first.

- [Simon] And Dan's off,

wearing his special city riding outfit

and making the most of his Deliveroo jacket.

On paper, should be looking pretty cool.

He's riding his Canyon Urban bike with flat handlebar,

more upright position, disc brakes, a Conti drive system

belt drive, but with fast rolling tyres.

- Bikes like this are really quite nippy and versatile.

Kinda feels like you're on a mountain bike,

but it is, of course, much easier to ride on the road.

Which is a good thing, because I haven't exactly made

life easy for myself

by opting for skinny jeans.

Although I am

looking good.

Right, first pick up.

Three pizzas, then a 10 minute ride

to destination.

Okay, I've arrived.

Nice and promptly.

(quiet jazz music)

Amateur.

Didn't see there was a non-revolving door on the way in.

Alright, anyway, success.

See you on the road.

- Right.

I'm on.

(dance club music)

And that

leaves me.

I'm riding my Trek Crockett Cyclocross bike.

I've cleaned a weekend's worth of mud off it,

and I fitted some slightly faster rolling tyres on it.

But I still want to leave

a little bit of off-road versatility.

After all,

cities

aren't just about roads.

- This bike

is normally super comfortable.

But the sat nav keeps sending me down the most awful roads.

I mean, I've already got slightly wider tyres on,

but really?

More cobbles?

Here I am.

I have arrived

with the pizzas, hopefully with the toppings

absolutely perfecto.

Hey!

It's a pizza bazookaaaaaa!

(family laughing)

Hey oh,

do you wanna quick,

quick check of the toppings?

Perfect.

- [Mom] Boy, looks good.

- [Matt] You couldn't make that up.

Enjoy your food.

- Thank you. - We will do.

- And thanks for being my first ever Deliveroo customers.

Cheers guys! (family cheering)

Cheerio.

Hey, hey.

- One thing I might change

I quite like

the clipless pedals from my road bike.

It's a lot hillier in Britain than I thought it was.

Picking up some speed.

Ow.

My nose.

Tempted to get a mineral water now to be honest.

Here we are.

Oh, waving.

Looking forward to their pizza, I think.

- [Family] Woo!

- There we go.

Hello.

Right.

This is my first-ever delivery.

- Was it? - Wow.

- Hopefully that's still warm.

There you go. - What do you say?

- [Kids] Thank you!

- [Dan] Thank you.

Enjoy it.

- [Kids] Bye!

- [Dan] Bye!

(quiet, fast dance music)

- Right, then.

One katsu chicken curry

on the way.

Tell you what, I feel a real sense of responsibility.

I have someone's dinner,

their actual food,

inside this bag.

I don't think I've ever gonna have ridden so carefully

before in my life.

I'm very glad of bigger tyres,

having a curry on my back.

Any kind of

comfort

and suspension is a good thing.

Think of the curry, think of the curry.

Think of the curry.

Think of the curry.

- Right.

Second delivery completed,

and I have to say,

I really quite enjoy this.

It is a very different experience

riding a bike like this,

but

I can still cover vast distances

and I can still ride as hard as I like.

Which might not be actually quite as hard as I would like

given current fitness level, but you know what I mean.

The good thing is, though, is that I can easily sit up,

look around and scan any hazards that might be coming up,

and you do feel a little bit more confident in traffic

on a bike like this,

which might not be a consideration

if you're a life-long cyclist.

But if you just got into it,

and it's your first time riding around cities,

that might well be a consideration.

- I don't think he's having quite as much fun as I am,

actually, although let it be said I'm certainly not

riding off road

with someone's dinner on my back.

That doesn't seem quite right.

But, what I love is the fact that my choice of bike

doesn't limit my choice of route.

It does certainly help

that I know this city like the back of my hand.

I know the shortcuts and I know the most fun places to ride.

But a Cyclocross bike

helps me

to get there.

And, yeah, I could've chosen a mountain bike

but a Cross bike,

is definitely

more responsive

and it's a little bit more nimble.

It's certainly more efficient

when you're logging

some serious kilometers.

And compared to a road bike,

I really value the fact

that the position here

is just

a little bit more upright.

So it really helps your peripheral vision.

Makes you

just feel a little bit more confident as well,

on the bike.

Now I said that I know Bristol quite well.

And that means it's kind of my choice

to ride up this

infamous

17% gradient.

Good opportunity to get in a little bit of extra

training, isn't it?

With a curry on my back.

Think of the curry.

Think of the curry.

Think of the curry.

Speed bump!

Think of the curry.

Where are we?

Oh, here we go.

(quiet, upbeat music)

Hey.

- Hey you, how're you doing?

- Alright.

Katsu chicken curry?

- Yeah, fantastic.

- Alrighty.

Here we go.

Alright.

Cool man.

- Thanks very much.

- Alright, no worries.

Did you want a selfie or anything?

- Uh, no, no you're alright.

- Alright, cool.

- Bye.

- See ya.

- GCN fans.

- Hey!

(Simon sighs)

- Doing good?

- [Simon] Alright, yeah.

Good, very good. - That was a

proper day's work, isn't it?

- It was, but that was good fun.

That was good fun.

- It certainly was.

- What are we thinkin' then?

The best bike for riding around the city?

Road, city, or cross?

- Well, I was definitely glad of my road bike,

but I'm pretty sure

those city streets take their toll far more

than country roads.

- [Dan] Yeah.

- And as nice as it was, and as easy as it was to ride,

I'd recommend maybe something

a little bit cheaper, considering you're gonna be locking

up on numerous occasions during the shift.

And also, I think, I'd like just a bit more comfort

as well, perhaps.

- Yeah, you see I wonder

whether the Cross bike could be a winner

for that exact reasons.

Those big tyres do give you an awful lot more cushioning

and yet, with the knobbles on, they roll slower.

But put big, fat slicks on and I think I'm gonna be rolling

just as fast as you are,

and yet, admittedly, with slick tyres,

I couldn't take some of my

alternate routes.

But I think the novelty of those is going to wear off

pretty quickly.

- I think you should hold your horses there, Si,

because I think my city bike was pretty much the ultimate.

It was light, nimble and agile at negotiating

junctions - Bit like you.

and traffic, yeah, very much like me.

I'd probably change a couple of things next time.

I would take a lock.

And I'd also wear some different clothing.

I'm suffering.

And we did a challenge, last year, didn't we?

In 2016, around the city of London.
