Youtube daily report Mar 9 2017

Hi I'm Jeremy, I'm HIV positive and I have an undetectable viral load.

I take medication once a day, which I get from my doctor.

I see my doctor about every 3 – 4 months and he helps me manage my HIV so it's out

of my mind when I don't have to see him.

I find undetectable really easy to manage, it's just a tablet a day and it doesn't

impact me on my life.

And its brainless, I don't have to think about it.

My name is Jeremy, I'm undetectable and I'm ending HIV.

China calls on N. Korea to halt tests and S. Korea & U.S. to halt military drills - Duration: 2:06.

Moving to the latest on China's furious reaction to the THAAD missile defense system's arrival

on South Korean soil.

While China is calling on its ally North Korea to stop its provocations and come back to

talks,... the country's foreign minister has reiterated that Beijing cannot accept the

deployment.

Connie Kim has more.

China has called on North Korea to halt its missile and nuclear tests and for the U.S.

and South Korea to stop their ongoing military drills in a bid to ease tensions in the region.

Speaking on the sidelines of China's annual parliamentary meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister

Wang Yi described Washington and Pyongyang as "two accelerating trains coming toward

each other, with neither side willing to give way."

"As a first step, North Korea could suspend its nuclear and missile activities, in exchange

for a halt of the large-scale U.S.-South Korea exercises.

This suspension-for-suspension can help us break out of the security dilemma and bring

the parties back to the negotiating table."

The foreign minister went on to say the dual suspension would bring all sides closer to

both denuclearizing the peninsula and establishing peace.

Wang said China hopes to continue its cooperative relationship with South Korea this year marking

their 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties,... but reiterated the country's opposition

to the U.S. missile defense system THAAD,... saying it is the biggest obstacle to the development

of relations between Seoul and Beijing.

"It's common knowledge that the monitoring and early warning radius of THAAD reaches

far beyond the Korean peninsula and undermines China's strategic security.

So clearly deploying THAAD is a wrong choice."

Wang also implied that there would be no trilateral summit between South Korea, China and Japan

unless the THAAD row were resolved.

The last time the three leaders met was in 2015, breaking a three-year hiatus due to

political and historical disputes.

THAAD radar to be deployed to S. Korea this month - Duration: 0:50.

South Korea and the United States are starting to pick up the pace of deploying the THAAD

missile defense system to the peninsula.

A South Korean military official says THAAD's X-band radar will arrive in the country this

month, on top of the two launch pads that arrived Monday.

The official added two to three hundred specialists are also scheduled to be deployed from Fort

Bliss in Texas and a U.S. base in Guam.

The U.S. anti-missile system is designed to intercept mid-range missiles, including North

Korea's Scud and Rodong missiles, which fly at an altitude of 40 to 150 kilometers.

The X-band radar has a range of two-thousand kilometers and will be able to detect all

missiles that are fired from North Korea.

S. Korea-China relations on downhill following THAAD deployment decision - Duration: 11:23.

Twists and turns in current South Korea-China relations, all seemingly leading to 'worse'

by the day.

To get a deeper understanding of their bilateral relations and the ongoing THAAD row, we have

our foreign affairs ministry correspondent Connie Kim in the studio.

Connie how significant is the current heightened tensions between the two countries?

South Korea and China's relations reached their peak when President Park Geun-hye attended

a war victory ceremony in China in 2015.

But this came to a downhill after Seoul and Washington decided to deploy the U.S.-missile

defense system THAAD to the Korean peninsula after North Korea's fourth nuclear test in

January of last year.

China has been objecting the deployment of such system under the reasoning that the THAAD

powerful radar could interfere with Chinese regional interest and national security.

Soon after the South Korean conglomerate Lotte Group approved a land swap with Seoul's defense

ministry last week, enabling the base where the THAAD battery will be stationed,…

China's unofficial retaliatory measures started rattling South Korea first on Lotte group,

then to the travel industry and now seemingly to other industries as well.

While there have been various reports that China has made the orders verbally, Beijing

for now is officially denying that the government is involved.

I was able to get a hold of a professor at the China Institute of International Studies

where he echoed the government's stance and said such responses are a quick response from

the Chinese public.

"This is really hard to say there is strong sentiment against ROK.

This is actually a response to the deployment of the THAAD in the ROK.// I think the Chinese

people are very clever to understand the significance or meaning of the statement by the government.

Generally speaking I don't think the Chinese government gave any announcement to take sanction

against the ROK but the people voluntarily gave the response to the decision made by

the ROK government."

While Seoul stands firm on its stance to deploy THAAD, Beijing keeps voicing a strong opposition

regarding the deployment adn the South Korean government.

What are the prospects for the future bilateral relations?

China has escalated its level of warning to South Korea on Monday as Seoul and Washington

began installing parts of THAAD.

Beijing's foreign minstry said that it solemnly objects Seoul and Washington's THAAD deployment

and will resolutely take necessary actions in order to safeguard its security interests....

and added any consequences to follow the necessary actions should be bore by the two allies.

As to the latest in the South Korean government's response to China's apparent sanctions, Seoul's

foreign ministry in a regular press briefing said the government will support companies

that have been affected by China's measures and it is considering raising the issue on

the international stage and respond legally,... if necessary, to violations of the WTO and

Seoul-Beijing Free Trade Agreement.

Most importantly, Seoul reiterated its stance that the primary reason for the THAAD deployment

is the North's missile threats.

"Seoul and Washington's decision came as North Korea's nuclear and missile threat exists,

getting larger and imminent.

There is no other purpose in this decision as it came in line with the Seoul-Washington

alliance and according to priority.

While standing consistent, there are voices that Seoul and Washington must use diverse

channels to explain the necessity of the THAAD deployment and calm Beijing's anger.

"I think that the U.S. and South Korea could engage with China to explain how THAAD actually

works, and then to allow for some transparency so China can be assured that THAAD would not

be detrimental to China."

In fact, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and some senior officials are reportedly planning

on a trip to South Korea and China this month to act as a mediator in the heightened THAAD

row.

So how serious is China's retaliatory actions?

China's sanctions have affected Lotte Group, first of all.

But the anti-South Korean sentiment doesn't look like it will stop there.

Korean food and cosmetics could be the next products caught in the cross-fire.

Beijing also moved to hit Seoul with a second ban on charter flights -- which could seriously

curb the country's tourism revenue.

For a closer look let's turn to our Oh Jung-hee's report

This is a Korean dumpling that's become popular in China, with sales of almost 130-million

U.S. dollars last year.

Now, there's growing speculation that food products like this could be the next target

for China's retaliatory actions against Seoul's deployment of the THAAD missile defense system.

But experts say China won't be imposing tariffs; instead, it will impose stricter sanitation

tests and stronger quarantine controls on food and cosmetics.

That's because those items are more easily replaceable than things like smartphones or

car components, whose absence would do greater harm to the Chinese economy.

"China's sanctions are likely to target goods that will have little impact on the Chinese

economy.

For example, consumer goods like food or cosmetics and services."

Korea's cosmetics companies will also have to be prepared.

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, or KOTRA, has reported... starting this month,

Chinese companies that import cosmetics from other countries... must register themselves

with quality control authorities... and report on specific product information.

The Chinese authorities say the system is being implemented to strengthen safety controls

and facilitate quick recalls of bad products.

But there are concerns in Korea that it's an unofficial sanction on Korean cosmetics.

In another sign of Beijing's discontent, Chinese authorities have once again banned Korean

airlines from running charter flights from China to Korea.

Only flights by Korean airlines were banned.

This is the second such ban -- after Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air and Jin Air were banned

from operating charter flights in January.

An estimated 70-thousand Chinese tourists were scheduled to fly to Korea on charter

flights this year,... but it's not yet known whether the flights will be allowed.

The measure is expected to significantly curtail the number of Chinese tourists to Korea, in

combination with China's recent ban on sales of all Korea tour packages.

"The Chinese government's retaliatory actions against the THAAD deployment appear to be

zeroing in on specific industries -- from food and cosmetics... to entertainment, travel

and tourism -- that will have a huge economic impact on Korea.

Oh Jung-hee, Arirang News."

Are there ways to minimize losses coming from China's apparent retaliation measures?

Daniel this is not the first time China imposed sanctions against other nations over their

soverign decision.

There was the case when Beijing banned exports of rare earth materials to Japan and sales

of Japanese autos were down to half in China,…all following Tokyo's announcement to nationalize

the Senkaku islands in the East China Sea.

Then there is the Taiwan case where Beijing limited travel to China after Taiwan's new

president Tsai Ing-wen didn't sign off on the 1992 Consensus acknowledging the 'One

China policy'.

Let's take a look at how they, in turn, responded.

Japan re-located production facilities in China to Thailand and Indonesia, sued China

at the WTO and diversified imports of rare Earth materials from India and Vietnam.

Sales of Japanese automobiles started recovering a year after,... with the number of Chinese

travelers to Japan peaking at six-point three seven million in 2016.

In the case of Taiwan, it expanded its visa-free entry policy to other nationalities, securing

even more travelers from Vietnam and the Philippines.

While Chinese tourists decreased, Taiwan welcomed the largest number of international tourists

in 2016 at 10-point-seven million.

"I think the Chinese government will think of tougher sanctions vis-a-vis South Korea

as time goes by.

When it actually deploy THAAD can expect much wider sanctions.// We have to think of an

alternative market, Southeast Asian countries and also India.

So Japan has done it, Taiwanese have done it, we can do it, we will take some time.

We need to have a good portfolio in economy and trade."

Experts are expecting the sanctions to prolong for at least a year,...so they suggest Seoul

must look for other East Asian markets to target the service and commodity industries,..

sectors that have been hit hard by China's sanctions.

And there are some analysts who say China won't be able to restrict imports of South

Korean intermediary and capital goods that take up to 90-percent of Seoul's exports to

Beijing.

Seoul's stronghold IT, semi-conductor and chemical industries have not been affected

yet,.. but experts caution that the country must diversify portfolios and seek for other

markets to offset potential damage caused by Beijing's measures.

Alright Connie Kim, thanks for taking time to be here with us today.

Let us hope there will be a clear realization of how unconstructive the current path is

very soon.

S. Korea to minimize impact of China's retaliatory actions against THAAD - Duration: 0:34.

The South Korean government is planning to bolster its economic and diplomatic efforts

to minimize the impact of China's economic retaliation against Seoul's missile defense

upgrade.

During an economy related ministers' meeting on Wednesday, finance chief Yoo Il-ho said

he's closely monitoring the impact on trade and financial markets... and the government

will act swiftly and firmly to stabilize markets and support related industries, if necessary.

Yoo added economic uncertainties have heightened... due to sluggish domestic consumption and an

anticipated U.S. rate hike.

S. Korea begins process of deploying THAAD: military - Duration: 1:24.

Seoul and Washington appear to be speeding up the deployment of the THAAD to the peninsula.

Just a day after Pyongyang's missile provocation,… the two allies have begun installing parts

of the U.S. advanced missile defense system on South Korean soil.

Kim Hyun-bin starts us off.

South Korea's defense ministry said on Tuesday that parts of the THAAD battery had arrived

overnight.

"The THAAD battery is being deployed for the sole purpose of defending against North Korea's

growing nuclear and missile threats."

."

The ministry's announcement mirrors a statement from the U.S. Pacific Command that said the

first elements of the THAAD battery had been deployed to South Korea.

The statement went on to say that the "continued provocative actions by North Korea ... only

confirm the prudence of alliance decision last year to deploy THAAD to South Korea."

The initial move to install the battery started on Monday, the same day North Korea fired

off four ballistic missiles into the East Sea.

The elements -- including two launch pads and other equipment -- were shipped via a

U.S. C-17 aircraft.

The shipment went through Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, 70 kilometers south of Seoul,

before going to an unidentified U.S. base in South Korea.

"South Korea's defense ministry says that the remaining personnel and equipment will

arrive soon, adding that the THAAD battery could be fully installed within two months."

Kim Hyun-bin, Arirang News."

Veganism Made Me Sick - Lierre Keith / Crowder - Stupid Meat Eater Comments #12 - Duration: 19:05.

Hi everyone, welcome back to TheVeganAtheist.

This week, I resurrect the Stupid Meat Eater Comments series, which last saw the light

of day in November of 2014.

You've asked for it on my poll, so I shall deliver.

In this episode, I critique Lierre Keith, author of The Vegetarian Myth, on Steven Crowder's

Podcast, Louder with Crowder.

Lierre, a long time vegan gone meat eater, and Steven a far right political commentator,

discuss veganism and animal agriculture.

As always, I'd love to hear what you think on the subject matter of the video and If

you like my channel and the content I produce, nothing helps me reach a wider audience then

likes, shares and comments.

Now with all that self-serving stuff out of the way, lets get started.

Lierre Keith, the author of the 2009 book entitled The Vegetarian Myth: Food, Justice

and Sustainability, claims to have been a vegan for over 20 years.

She blames her vegan diet for her numerous chronic health problems.

She did a 180 and now eats a meat focused menu, and devotes a lot of her life to combating

the vegan movement.

Her book has come under a lot of scrutiny due to its lack of primary sources, and reliance

on the opinions of her favourite popular authors, who they themselves do not provide any primary

sources.

Additionally, Lierre has an indebted relationship to the Weston A. Price Foundation, a non credible

organization, founded by a dentist in the 1930s who made sweeping assertions on human

health based on his observation of indigenous populations.

The Weston A. Price Foundation has taken to champion a pro-meat and dairy agenda, and

take on the growing vegan movement.

Steven Crowder is a conservative political commentator, Christian and host of Louder

with Crowder, a podcast primarily covering politics and culture.

With that background info out of the way, lets get on with i t.

Lierre makes sweeping assertions about why people go vegan, and how long they stay vegan.

She claims that most vegans choose this diet/wordview because of exposure by a vegan friend.

This may be true for some, but she does not give any citation to corroborate her claims...

not even in her book.

The same can be said regarding her statement that most new vegans give it up within 3 months.

Even if it were to be true, what does that say about veganism?

It says more about human nature and our inability to keep to major changes that impact our daily

lives on so many levels, then some kind of blight against veganism.

Going vegan ought to be an informed decision based upon knowledge acquired through credible

sources, not a decision based upon acquiring friendship, standing in social circles, or

an appeal to emotion.

Lierre asserts that her health degraded after going vegan.

She also asserts that she knew exactly what she ought to be eating to be a healthy vegan,

yet it did not help.

Maybe she was, maybe she wasn't.

Only Lierre knows what she was actually eating, so I can't claim that she was doing veganism

wrong.

From her book, Lierre states that she ate only carbohydrates, and if thats the case,

its little wonder she got ill.

Our bodies need more then carbs to be healthy.

We also need to consume fat, protein, vitamins and minerals to keep our bodies in optimal

health.

A carb focused diet is not healthy.

Lierre has also stated elsewhere that she been battling health issues her whole life,

even before her years as a vegan.

Perhaps her angst against veganism is due to the realization that a vegan diet is not

a cure for all your ailments.

Some vegans make grand claims stating that a vegan diet makes you immune to cancers and

other diseases.

This is not true.

What is true is that eating a balanced vegan diet you decrease your risk of many serious

illnesses, but there is no magic cure.

Knowledgeable health professionals who keep up to date with peer reviewed studies, state

without question that a properly planned vegan diet is healthy for all stages of life.

I don't know about you but I take my dietary advice from dietary and medical professionals,

not anecdotal personal experience from a disgruntled ex-vegan.

Im not sure where Steven gets the impression that vegans believe if you eat animals you

hate animals.

I don't think I've ever thought that.

I'm not a vegan because I hate plants.

I am vegan because I can see the harm to animals, the planet and to myself caused by animal

agriculture.

I think what Steven is picking up from vegans is anger and annoyance at the cognitive dissonance

he and other animal loving meat eaters exhibit.

If you can love animals, care for them, acknowledge their ability to enjoy life, and their ability

to suffer, how can you then eat other animals who have the same capacity?

I would imagine that Steven and others like him attempt to resolve this dissonance by

asserting the necessity of eating animal products to be healthy.

If it were really necessary to eat animals to be healthy, then killing and eating them,

however much we may not like it, would be necessary.

The reality however is that eating animals for the large majority of people, especially

in more affluent countries, is not a necessity.

Im sorry, but I have a hard time believing that Lierre actually receives legitimate threats

against her life from anyone.

What I imagine she gets is a lot of online hate, much like feminists Anita Sarkeesian

and Suey Park.

Online threats of violence are aplenty, and while I wish the internet wasn't a safe haven

for immature people protected by a shroud of anonymity, its unfortunately to be expected

when you hold views that are in violent opposition with the large majority of people.

Seems to me Lierre is living up the SJW victimization card in order to garner sympathy for her cause.

Wow, doomsday fear tactics to bring out an emotional response.

If we continue to farm the way we do, we are going down a path to further climate change

and top soil erosion.

Agriculture is as a whole is the most destructive human activity on the planet.

What Lierre fails to mention is that the much of the land grown crops are destined not for

direct human consumption, but instead animal feed.

70% of all agriculture land and 30% of the ice-free terrestrial surface of the planet

is specifically devoted to grazing and growing crops for animal consumption.

Sure not all that land would be fit to grow crops for humans, but imagine how much land

could be returned to its natural state if we didn't have 24 billion extra mouths to feed.

Sure, there are

a lot of vegetables that ought to be cooked in order to make the nutrients found within

bioavailable.

Raw food is not necessarily more healthy then cooked and therefore I would not recommend

a 100% raw diet, as they have been demonstrated to be often lacking.

At this point in the interview, Lierre veers the conversation into a very bizarre direction

by calling plants "the original warfare people" with babies that have wants, desire, knowledge.

Plants, especially the ones we grow for human consumption, show no signs of anything we

would consider sentience, sapience, or the capacity to have desires or thoughts.

They lack a central processing organ like a brain.

They lack a nervous system that transmits signals of pain and pleasure.

If plants have some rudimentary sentience, it is well beyond our capacity to observe.

Lierre belies a motive in speak about plants in such anthropomorphic terms.

She wants to suggest that vegans are just as immoral to kill a kale plant as a meat

eater is to kill a cow.

This is akin to a religious apologist claiming that atheists have faith too, and are thus

on an equal playing field.

This is just ridiculous.

The reason sentience evolved into animals is because it afforded us a survival advantage.

Sentience is an animals ability to consciously interact with the world around it.

Escape dangers and find pleasures.

Since plants are affixed to the ground, they have no means of escape.

A plant with sentience would just sit there screaming in silence as it was consumed because

it would not have no means of even moving an inch.

Plants with or without sentience would have equal chances of survival, so sentience would

not provide a benefit.

Here is a classic example of the naturalistic fallacy.

That which is deemed natural is good.

Since our ancient ancestors ate a certain way, we therefore should learn from them and

follow their lead.

Im sorry to break this to you, but our ancestors were primitive beings who knew next to nothing

about the world, and nutrition, and did what they could to survive.

It would make as much sense to eat as our ancestors did, as it would to adopt their

ideas of morality.

We know more about nutrition now then at any point in our history so it makes absolutely

no sense to romanticize the past in an attempt to justify today's barbarism.

On the point about indigenous people today living in hunter gatherer communities.

They are mostly very isolated groups of people with no formal education living with past-down

knowledge accumulated through the generations.

No great insights are found here on how we ought to live.

Crumbling bones, falling out teeth and stunted growth.

Are you frightened yet?

You shouldn't be.

If the picture that Lierre was painting was accurate, human civilization ought to have

died out centuries ago.

Farming has been with us for tens of thousands of years, replacing the need for humans to

be dependent on hunting animals for survival.

Her comments are nothing more then utilizing fear to manipulate an audience to believe

that humans ought to return to the diet of our ancient ancestors.

Everyday you can find a new study, often taken out of context by

the media, making all sorts of claims regarding what foods are good and what foods are bad

for us.

Some of those studies are paid for by industries that have a monetary incentive to receive

a favorable result.

Journalists, who are not medical or dietary professionals, write news articles with eye

grabbing titles in order to grab the public's attention, all in an effort to sell advertising

space.

Lierre is no better.

She clearly doesn't understand the science of nutrition as is demonstrated with her assertion

that saturated fat is actually good for us.

All major health organizations recommend the limiting of saturated fat consumptions.

The American Heart Association recommends limiting saturated fats – which are found

in butter, cheese, red meat and other animal-based foods.

Decades of sound science has proven it can raise your "bad" cholesterol and put you

at higher risk for heart disease.

Again, I take my dietary advice from dietary and medical professionals with the backing of peer reviewed research.

Does domestication of animals provide them with some benefits?

Yes definitely, if we are speaking in grander terms taking the species as a whole.

Animal agriculture has ensured that the domesticated animals will not go extinct because as long

as the animals are useful to us, further generations will be bred into existence.

This says nothing however about the individual animals suffering under confinement, often

with aliments, living a fraction of the life they would otherwise have lived in the wild.

A return to the discussion about plants and her bizarre anthropomorphic language.

Plants don't have thoughts and desires about working with humans for the benefit of their

survival.

Just more of the same nonsense where Lierre attempts to level the moral playing field

by suggesting that plants are sentient and therefore to kill them would be just as bad

as killing a sentient animal.

Ugh.

Lets keep going...we are almost done.

Meat eaters taunt vegans about plant sentience because they don't have a valid rational argument

against veganism, and therefore stoop to all sorts of ridiculous levels in order to justify

their dietary choices.

Even if it were true that the plants we eat were in some way sentient, it would still

make sense to be a vegan due to the conservation of energy.

Let me explain.

If we grow a crop of plants to feed farmed animals, it will take a lot of plant material

to grow the animal.

There surely will be wasted energy as a lot of the calories consumed by the animal will

go towards keeping the animal warm, alive, and into non-consumable body parts such as

bone, hair, cartilage and organs.

If instead we ate the plants directly, we essentially cut out the middle man and use

the plant calories directly for our survival.

Far fewer plants are killed by a vegan then by a meat eater eating a farmed animal.

Lastly, while our intelligence as a species allows us to kill as apex predators, we are

dependent on tools for success.

In a one-on-one fight between a true apex predator and a human, with nothing but our

hands, we loose every time.

Predators generally kill their prey because of necessity.

They kill in order to survive.

Humans bodies do not require animal flesh or secretions to be healthy, and so regardless

of our technical capabilities, killing animals for food should be a thing of our past.

How to Build a Balsa Glider - 12" Sandpiper - Part 1 - Duration: 12:50.

Hey, Guys!

Welcome to Nighthawk Gliders!

I'm Brad.

Today we are going to build the "Sandpiper 12" Glider."

This is a catapult-launch glider; an outstanding glider.

And many of you've been asking for a "how to" video.

This is your video.

I'm just going to go thru the basics and let's build one!

We're going to use #11; I designate these guys.

He's #11 and we're going to use him as a guide since he is a great flyer.

First choice is balsa selection.

We need a 3/32" x 3" x 36" (balsa sheet).

And we're going to cut off a 12" segment.

And this part here is going to be both the wing and the fuselage.

That's what we're going to cut out of here.

This balsa right here is a little bit more dense than I would typically use.

For demonstration purposes here, this will do.

I like to use a balsa stripper right off the sheet.

It does not cut all the way through.

It cuts mostly through.

And once I cut on one side I flip it over and I just cut the other side.

This is already pre-measured to 1/2".

The fuselage height is 1/2".

I'm going to cut off two strips.

Two strips of 1/2" equals 1".

That coming off a 3" sheet will leave us 2".

So this is going to be our wing and the chord will be close to 2".

This will be our fuse and this is going to be our wing.

We need to find the center of our wing.

I will choose to mark it.

And from the leading edge, I want to go back 1/2".

So I will cut off from the center point to that 1/2" mark.

This kind of creates a sweep-back on my wing.

I think it adds a little stability.

So typically on my wings I will do a sweep back.

And for esthetics, and probably aerodynamics, I like to curve off the leading tips.

So, I'll just trim off a little bit there.

Alright, that's the general planform.

Now for our fuse, get some wax paper.

We need to glue these two together and I will find really quickly the center point of the

fuse and create a mark.

What I like to do is balance the fuse on a ruler and find out which side is heavier.

In this case it is the right side.

In this case here it is the left side.

I will switch over so that the two heavy sides are on one end.

This is going to be the nose.

Since I typically add some extra weight on the nose, let's keep the tail light and

the nose heavier.

Just a little quick tip there.

Alright, these two are just going to glue together.

Trying to spread this across.

And put these two together.

I'll set them flat and squeeze them together.

I need to remember what is the nose so I'll put a little mark on here.

Just so I know.

Ok, so here we have some tick marks.

These are indicators as to where we'll make some cuts to shape our our fuselage.

I'll call this the "fuse."

This is where we will be creating a notch for the catapult.

And we want the body kind of fat; going to draw a line to here.

The tick marks were 1" from the nose.

Another 1" for the notch.

5" to this point.

And 6", which is the 1/2 way mark, there is a line right here.

So, this will be a line straight to that.

I like to use… also, we actually need to put a tick mark on the other side at the 6"

I like to use, again, the balsa stripper.

This time I have it set at 1/4" which is close to 1/2 the width.

I'm just going to put a mark… probably can't see that.

I'm going to put a mark on this side and put a mark on this side.

I'm going to look to see how well that lines up.

Which looks pretty close.

I think it needs to be a little bit wider.

I'm going to adjust it a little bit and go with that.

The idea is that I'm going to be drawing this down… holding it very tightly with

my thumb… to that line or a little past that line.

I'm going to flip this over and do the same thing.

This is going to split the wood right to the mark where I need it.

And then, I can take my ruler and start cutting into this line right here.

Since I'm going with the grain it won't be too difficult.

And there we go we have a thinner tail and a fatter body.

Having a lighter tail will actually give us the ability to put less blast on the front

and it will allow the plane have more control with it's tail.

So, for the shark's tooth, I like to use a saw— this is a razor saw.

I'm going to cut…

See if I can show you this…

Going to cut right into that angle.

And then I'll use my ruler again to finish that off very carefully.

The saw works great with a cross-grain cut.

And there we go.

I'm going to round off the nose a little bit.

That is the raw-cut of the fuse.

Ok, we have our fuse, we have our main wing, so we need a tail.

What i like to use is 1/16" (thickness) x 3" x 36".

I'm going to cut off a piece of that.

And the tail is 4" long…

Make a couple marks there.

Ok, 4" long.

It is 1 and 1/2" wide.

What's nice about the 3" sheet of balsa is that these dimensions work very well—

in that when I cut this in half I have enough for two tails for two gliders.

I'm going to find the center point… since it is 4", 2" is the center point.

And this is going to be my leading edge and this going to be my trailing edge.

I'm going to bring forward 1/8" from trailing edge and put a tick mark.

And from that tick mark I go another 1" and mark that.

So I will cut from that center point to that mark, right there.

And this will give my general shape of my tail.

The trailing edge will have a little bit shaved off… which we also need a tick mark at 2".

From the center point on the trailing edge to the 1/8" mark I will shave off just a

little sliver.

Same thing for the other side.

And that is the basic raw-cut of the tail.
